Sensation. Sturdy Device? - HTC Sensation

I'm still not convince sensation being sturdy device. Can sensation users share their horrible accidents with their sensation? Did your phone make it? is it still alive like nothing happen?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

I'm pretty disappointed.... The battery cover (bottom right) is loose, and getting worse. So when I type the phone kind of gives a bit, and makes a slight creaking noise.
Most likely returning for new this weekend.

Last device did creek...exchanged at Walmart and its all good now.

I've never had the "creak" that some people have. Then again, I've never used this without it's case....which I'm sure holds it tight.
Just one of the many inherent risks with purchasing any device.

I must say the device feels really solid. In fact I find it much more solid than my MT4G. I have not dropped it if that's what your asking. I don't have any loose feeling or creaking in mine.

I literally dropped my phone three times last night at the bar and I have no visible marks. Gut wrenching but I'm glad to see that it can take a drop. Kudos to HTC.

I would say that its a sturdy device... Very nicely built...

The first one I had which I returned for dust under the screen, I dropped at a bar (this seems to be a commonality) and kicked it simultaneously across the floor. Ran to pick it up and it was still as good as new

i was traveling recently and had it on my lap. i stepped out of the truck(F150) and it fell onto the asphalt and slid sum..all i could find damage wise was a little nick in the corner. size of a pin hole. i thought for sure i had road rash and a cracked screen. this was without the cover i have on it now.
held up great!!

If I press the screen hard (not damaging hard) you hear a creek. I dropped it, being drunk, and the grey "metal" is plastic so it removed the paint. Just a tiny drop sized thing. It's a sturdy phone overall. Reminds me of the mytouch 4g and nexus one.

Sounds like we Sensation owners love to drink, haha.

Yea, my second unit had the same creak issue and I just returned it to Walmart. I couldn't deal with it, especially on such a beautiful phone. I'm really anal bout my phones. My one year old HD2 still looks like it came from the factory, no shiitin! I'll be getting a new unit through customer care once they fkin replenish their warehouse.

Tough phone
I hit mine off a pool table with a pint glass and it slid across a slate tile floor(screen down) and still looks like new.

I was recording a video on mine and a friend waved her hands frantically, and catapulted my sensation out of my hands where it landed about 3 or 4 meters away on concrete. Not a blemish on the device and it actually managed to continue recording video throughout the trauma!

I went to a friends party and we were comparing phones, he has the mt4g, and we were both pretty drunk. We both somehow accidentally dropped our phones and my sensation, with no case, had no damage at all. His mt4g, with a case, has a completely shattered screen.

I have the creak issue and it changes where it creaks each time I take the back of the phone off and put it back on again.

Post the video!

i haven't had an accident with it but , i don't know, to my eyes it looks fragile. but hey i come from a hd2. you can kill a man with that MOFO. lol

I dropped mine from standing on the asphalt, and it has a pretty good size chip in the paint, but other than that nothing. Dropped my mt4g from lower and cracked the screen. Pretty sturdy imo

Pics of my shattered MT4G

It fell from my lap while getting out of the car. 2 ft drop on to street.
EDIT: Hope my replacement has the good display.
Sheesh....
Ouuuuucchhhhhhh!!!
how are u getting the replacement? got warranty on that?
man, ive dropped my g1 from my lap countless times and its still going strong..but the feel of the mt4g kinda tells me this will happen.
Bro that's crazy.
I dropped my MT4G while I was running on the treadmill @ 7 mph, the battery flew off and the phone flew onto the concrete behind me. Doesn't have a single scratch. If it was only 2 feet how could your screen be that bad?
I have dropped it before and had no Issues, I guess if it hits the ground just right it will shatter

Dropped mine the first day I got it and it has a scratch on the bottom edge but that's about it. And it fell face down on gravel. Things like this never fail to surprise me, just had to hit that one weak spot.
Samething happened to my vibrant, 2ft from the car. That's how I ended up getting a mt4g.

All depends on the drop. Back in my blackberry days I had a pearl that fell 5' in a thin silicone case and not even a mark. My wife had a storm in a thick silicone case and fell 3' and the display looked like the OP's. It's all about the way the phone hits.
Glad your getting a new one! Wish we has gorilla glass!!!

Gorilla glass is scratch-proof, not shatter-proof.
It is shatter proof as well...
Technically impact resistant...

Sensation Back Cover paint/color coming off problems (Pics Added)

Well I just wanted to share with everyone my experience with the back cover and the color coming off after 1 1/2 weeks from the retail box. When I called HTC they did not give me any problems and sent me a new one.
I have kept the phone on Micro-Fiber cloths and what short time it is in a case it is in the T-Mobile sleeve for the Sensation which is soft inside. So I know it is not my use which caused it, the case is possible but I doubt it.
Bottom line is I think their could be some paint/color issues with the back cover so keep a watch for it and if you notice it call HTC and get a replacement.
So has anyone else experienced this? Please leave your comments.
Here is a couple of pictures of mine. You can see the area where the color is coming off just to the right and a little below the camera opening.
It looks like normal wear and tear from the body oils on your hands. I hope that isn't the case and their was some real issue. If this "issue" happens again I probably wouldn't ask for another case personally. On the bright side you can probably sell that other case for like $40 right now.

No when it leaves the micro fiber cloth it goes in to the slip pouch. I'm very protective of my phones and I will never put one of my phones in my pocket unprotected.
Other phones I have like the thunderbolt and MT4G I have never had this problem.
I just hope the new case holds up better.
Happened with my XPERIA X1 (made by HTC), happened to my N1, and now it will probably happen to my Sensation. Good to know.
Perhaps it's the skip pocket and the constant slipping in and out of something that fit's so tightly.

Perhaps but the slip case is from T-Mobile and for the sensation and is lined with a soft material. And I mean how many times I could have taken it in and out over 12 days period is, well not that many times as while I'm working I use my work phone.
I might try a different case on this new back cover to see if it makes a difference.
I feel like all phone covers with this surface will be rubbed off eventually
I am having the same problem. I've had the phone 3 weeks, and it is looking pretty bad. It only seems to affect the top third of the case. I'll try calling HTC...
btw, I am also using the t-mobile slip case...
Good thing I got a cover for it to avoid this. Although this does look like normal wear and tear.

You think this looks like normal wear and tear for a 12 day old phone? I would agree if the phone was older maybe but if the paint is coming off this quick after purchase I just can't see it being normal. Also this phone has been in a case when not on my micro fiber cloth.
I think it's your atomic hands. Or too much Texas BBQ!
I've had mine 35 days now and no visible wear on the cover. I have ZERO protection on my phone and it's either in my cheap holster during work or taking up it's solo pocket location in my jeans/shorts. My holster interior is not really that soft and I holster the phone a ****load throughout the day. Honestly... I would expect my phone to have a lot of wear already. I've been in love with the sexy feel of this phone since day one and find myself holding and caressing it sometimes even when I'm not using it.
Not sure if that helps or not but due to my holster and my almost perverse fascination with the feel of this device I would expect to see some wear on mine.
Exact reason I got my tpu Case. Need to keep the resale value up.

No it was definitely made by HTC, just sold by Sony. Because Sony could never produce a decent device. And THAT phone had a problem with its backcover, horrible I finished with rubbing ALL the color off, basically turning the black model into a silver model Looked as if it were new. But I think that's kinda hard to do with the Sensation because there are electronics in the cover. Or is it just metal parts for the antenna?

you could do a quick test and smash it with a hammer (just not too much power on the smashing ) if it doesn't break your all good. if it does. your not one of the lucky guys.

Stupid, yet surprised.

So, the other night.. I threw my phone as hard as I could...And it hit a metal pole about 6-8 feet in front of me. It had a cheap case on it. That flew about 20 feet and landed on my roof. I will provide a link. I should have taken a pic of the back of the phone... It put a crack in the top area of the battery cover. A little below the camera area...And the only issue was I had to push the back cover down after removing the back. I ordered a new one, no problem.
However, I was amazed that nothing more happened. Everything else works fine. Here is the case that I had: http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-MESH-Hybrid-Hard-Silicone-Rubber-Gel-Skin-Case-Cover-for-HTC-Sensation-4G-/300624027183?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item45fe969e2f

Well, most of you are at least partially correct.
I have really bad insomnia. I had been up for 6 days and some family issues...
And female issues.
I don't often get mad/angry/annoyed/etc. It had been over a year, (Yes, really.)
Being up for 6 days and all the drama (I keep myself away from drama as much as possible.)
I just snapped... Threw the phone. I did like the case. I ordered an Otter Box. Phone feels way to thin without a case, haha.
Did throwing your phone make you feel better at all? Was it worth it?
Two words : anger management!

Built to last

If you ever wondered how a One S would fare against being thrown at a wall at full force, fear not this thing is pretty solid.
Cut a long story short had a few drinks, got into an argument with a friend... You know the rest
It had a little split near the volume rockers, but snapped straight back into place. Trust me it was not a ***** throw
Admittidly I had a case mate tough case on which would have helped, but I have seen a few phones go for much less.
Yup, that's my cool story for the day. The phone is very solid for the form factor.

The Amaze would put a hole in your wall, It's like a brick.
The LG U880 clamshell phone breaks in half if moderate to tactile force is intentionally applied. The HTC Desire can take 2 years of severe mistreatment only acquiring a sort of ghetto Mad Max patina, but slamming it face down on an IKEA Lack table does it for the Amoled.
