Noob Flasher

Ok I followed this post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122508
Ok im in CwM Voodoo Lagfix Rev v3.0.2.8x
My mounts are correct
I go to Install from zip
Then Choose zip from sd card
Then I chose my rom
I get this error E:Cant mount /SDcard/Bionix_Frost_SGS4G.zip
Installatioin aborted.
I get this with anyone I try what am I missing here?

You sort of ran into the same problem as the guy in this thread yesterday.
To sum up that thread for you:
1. Download a Gingerbread rom. Here are sone samples:
Octane
Valhalla Final
KJ6 AOSP Style
2. Use the Gingerbread Starter Pack guide to flash it without any problems.

Yes been trying that Im here it says all threads complete but phone doesnt reboot to pull battery its just on the downloading screen still
4) Load up Odin, and load the KC1 files, DON'T TOUCH ANY OTHER OPTIONS, leave them like they are even if Odin changes them!
- 4a) PIT: Sgs4g.pit
- 4b) PDA: pda.tar.md5
5) Flash and let the phone reboot. Once you see the T-Mo startup screen (the pink one), OR the CWM (red text) screen do a battery pull.

Try pulling the battery after Odin is done and see if it boots up.
Edit: oh and unplug it from the PC when its booting up

Its just stays at the downloading screen lol im having the most heck of a time with this phone

Im messing up here its not working right my first time using this odin and its not picking my phone up I just found a video on it and I see now so now I need to fix that some how and i should be ok.

Im getting a unknown device error when its plugged in in download mode .

Sounds like you don't have the USB drivers installed.

Well I got it started and really messed up the cord got bumped and now I think my phone is bricked all i see is a pic of a phone and a void and a pc like its telling me i unplugged it oh no.

I just fixed it back now tomorrow have to try odin again and be more careful

Dang got myself locked up again with odin it sticks at set partion left it for 45 mins gave up thank goodness for Heimdal one click Why cant i do this lol
Wish i could just flash from zip but keep getting that dang cant mount sdcard/rom name tried numerous sd cards reformat.

What version of ODIN are you using? Also, when usong ODIN make sure you don't mess with any of the checkboxes - just let ODIN decide what to check.
I'm not sure about the CWM error as I've not experienced that problem.

Weird that it keeps doing that. How did you manage to fix it the first time?

Dang 2 hours now im back up i guess i give up lol i held vol up and down cord plugged in then insert battery.

This method got my phone back this time but before i kept unplugging the phone from the cord and had 2 cords plugged into PC I kept switching back and forth then it recognized.Just messing around to see if i can find a way to get it to recognize in DL mode now and now it wont.

Hmm, if you've tried every usb port on your computer, try a different computer.
Maybe you got some funky usb host device on your computer that the phone just doesn't like.

I have tried I have a Windows 7 and an XP I get the same.I just picked up a new cable to see if that works and still the same.

My i9000 don´t boot anymore. it has got a boot loop. i just can see the galaxys logo. i even can´t access the recovery mode.
after every app crashed since yesterday, i tryed to reboot. then i got a boot loop (boot animation). when i had it after i flashed ics 2 weeks ago too, i fixed it with deleting dalvik cache and flashed the rom again. so i wanted to do again. i deleted the dalvik cache. then i (stupid ) thought before i flash again i try to reboot. and now nothing is working anymore.
Any ideas? my data is gone, right?

Try taking the battery out and have power through USB. Sometimes fixes my download mode issues.

i already tryed it. when it is connected through usb i can´t even turn it on. i only see the battery (empty, but it is not empty) and the loading circle....then after few seconds only the circle...then agin empty battery.....
even battery animation is not working...
the phone isn´t recognized by the pc at all...

now i got something new oO a blue magenta pattern on the whole screen
now its gone :-(

My only suggestion left is let it sit without a powersource for a little. I haven't had any bricking issues so I don't have first hand experience

You'll have to odin to stock. I don't have any links or files on hand right now. Maybe someone will pop in and drop it for you. If not I'll have it up in a few hours. Grats on getting into dl mode. It's a start.

Stock is stock. I'm having trouble viewing the webpage but if it is an odin image it should work. You'd just want to find the latest stock image. Let me see if I can "try" and dig up a link. Don't hold me to it though. I'm in a building that eats mobile signal.

[Q] Bricked... hard or soft?

I have an SGS4g
I had Team Whiskeys Bionix Frost updated for/with voodoo and it worked fine for quite some time... I foolheartedly decided it was time for something new...
I followed the instructions perfectly for WhiteHawkx Valhalla when I was at the restart boot-loader section my phone turned into rainbow crack,
but the rom loaded and my phone worked I was however unable to get into recovery from this point forward.
I decided that not being able to get into recovery was unacceptable so I decided to use Odin to load up the old tried an true jump off point the deodexed KD1 I keep with Odin in a folder on my PC for just such an occasion, after attempting this my phone didn't restart on it's own like it was supposed to... (I should have known to stop right there while I was still in DL mode.)
When I restarted my phone manually my phone stopped showing the rainbow crack and showed the normal splash screen (I was foolishly optimistic) my phone is now stuck at the t mobile splash screen and I haven't been able to get it back into DL mode...
Please tell me there is something I can do other than shop for a new phone.

Volume up and volume down while you plug it into the computer won't get you to download mode?

I haven't been unable to get into DL mode with both vol+&vol- at same time I also tried just vol- as i plugged phone into pc

I have been unable to get into recovery so far...
I have tried all of the alternate methods except ADB mode which I don't think i can because the phone wont go past the galaxy S 4g exclusively from t mobile splash screen.
if there is a trick for the ADB method please let me know cause if something is going to work at this point i think that's it.

Well there is hope, your phone is still turning on.
You could see if abd recognizes your phone if you have it. (usually the first things I do is make sure debugging is on when I change things over)
If you know someone with a jig that would be the easiest way but it is 1am.
I'm at work so I'm not in front of my computer.

I dont know anyone with a Jig, I always turn debug mode on.
I'll try ADB if that doesn't work I'll order/make a jig.

I had one that I had to spam the adb command at for awhile before it took..

Your are pulling the battery when doing this right? I assume you are, but you didn't list it as one of your steps.

Pull battery. Plug in cable. Hold volume up and down. Put battery in.

I hope this helps you, it worked for me. I do A LOT of Rom changes etc.

Help. Cannot get into recovery

Recently my power button took a crap on me, and about the same time I noticed j cannot boit into recovery. I've tried multiple different ways, and every time it just boot loops. Shows me the Samsung logo then a black screen and repeats forever. The only way I can get out of the loop is to pull battery and enter download mode then reboot. I've tried reinstalling the newest recovery again also. Anyone have any bright ideas? I can't wipe anything or install anything new, and I'm getting frustrated. :banghead:

Load goo.im from the market, flash twrp, then use the app to reboot to recovery?

You can use Quick Boot app, which lets you go to recovery using single click shortcut/widget

"Adb reboot recovery" from your computer or go into terminal in your phone and "su" then "reboot recovery"

Which recovery are you actively using (or trying to)? If its cwm, are you sure you got the right one for our phone? Download ROM manager and let it flash the correct cwm and then try rebooting if that still doesn't work odin the phone to stock, reroot and attempt again

I sent my GS3 in with the same problem. The phone power button started to do crazy things and would not stay in download mode or in recovery mode long enough to flash anything. They are sending it back fixed today. Samsung knows about the motherboard going bad on these devices but they wont tell you about it.

How long of a turn around was it? I think that is the only solution. Also, did you deal with samsung directly? What did you tell them?

Yup called them directly. I told them that it was rooted but had a hardware problem. They told me that I can send it in since it was still under manufacturers warranty and they would tell me if it could be fixed. Sent it in on May 28th. Just got email that they are sending it back fixed.

Wish I saw this earlier. But the easiest way to boot into recovery without a power button is using terminal emulator.
Type in
Su
Reboot recovery
Same can be done for download mode.

so i tried to revert back to stock last night using odin and something went terribly wrong. still believe it is due to my power button. i got one section as failed and one as passed in odin. the phone shut off at the end and said it was rebooting, but it never did. eventually i unplugged it and tried to get it on with no luck. if i pull the battery and reinsert it, the phone vibrates, and i get a screen that says "Samsung, custom" with and unlocked pad lock. i have never seen this screen before. i also can only get to download mode for about 2-3 seconds before the screen goes black again. So i cannot retry the process, i now have a brick. Anyone have any suggestions? i was going to send it back to samsung today, but i don't believe they will touch it in this state.

reading up on hard bricks, and mine doesn't seem to be quite that since i can get into download mode. It just doesn't stay there, the screen turns off after a few seconds. obviously not long enough to odin. any help would be GREATLY appreciated. i now have no phone... this shall be interesting with the lady friend :laugh:

As long as you get into download mode you're still ok. Send it into samsung and tell them your issue with the power button. They will fix your hardware issue and will load the stock rom back onto your phone.
I don't think they care as long as your phone isn't hard bricked. I'm sure they use odin anyways to update every phone that comes out of their service center.
Can anyone confirm this is correct?

i never thought they would even consider it since it was rooted. i called them up and it is being sent in tomorrow. i really appreciate it man. :good:

[Q] Will only boot in Download mode

All,
Hopefully this is an easy one. I looked through the board and did not see anything I haven't similar but i can be wrong. Quick background, I rebooted the phone it looked normal on shutdown but it never came back up.. What I have tried is tremove the battery and left it for day and tried to turn on with no luck. A couple of times it showed the battery indicator but would go black screen if i tried to turn it on. I have reloaded the stock rom using ODIN still no luck. The only thing I can make it do is go to the download screen, that's it. This is a stock ATT Skyrocket no mods or anything. It seems to be a software issue but I do not know how to fix it. Any Ideas Thanks
