Noob Flasher

Ok I followed this post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122508
Ok im in CwM Voodoo Lagfix Rev v3.0.2.8x
My mounts are correct
I go to Install from zip
Then Choose zip from sd card
Then I chose my rom
I get this error E:Cant mount /SDcard/Bionix_Frost_SGS4G.zip
Installatioin aborted.
I get this with anyone I try what am I missing here?

You sort of ran into the same problem as the guy in this thread yesterday.
To sum up that thread for you:
1. Download a Gingerbread rom. Here are sone samples:
Octane
Valhalla Final
KJ6 AOSP Style
2. Use the Gingerbread Starter Pack guide to flash it without any problems.

Yes been trying that Im here it says all threads complete but phone doesnt reboot to pull battery its just on the downloading screen still
4) Load up Odin, and load the KC1 files, DON'T TOUCH ANY OTHER OPTIONS, leave them like they are even if Odin changes them!
- 4a) PIT: Sgs4g.pit
- 4b) PDA: pda.tar.md5
5) Flash and let the phone reboot. Once you see the T-Mo startup screen (the pink one), OR the CWM (red text) screen do a battery pull.

Try pulling the battery after Odin is done and see if it boots up.
Edit: oh and unplug it from the PC when its booting up

Its just stays at the downloading screen lol im having the most heck of a time with this phone

Im messing up here its not working right my first time using this odin and its not picking my phone up I just found a video on it and I see now so now I need to fix that some how and i should be ok.

Im getting a unknown device error when its plugged in in download mode .

Sounds like you don't have the USB drivers installed.

Well I got it started and really messed up the cord got bumped and now I think my phone is bricked all i see is a pic of a phone and a void and a pc like its telling me i unplugged it oh no.

I just fixed it back now tomorrow have to try odin again and be more careful

Dang got myself locked up again with odin it sticks at set partion left it for 45 mins gave up thank goodness for Heimdal one click Why cant i do this lol
Wish i could just flash from zip but keep getting that dang cant mount sdcard/rom name tried numerous sd cards reformat.

What version of ODIN are you using? Also, when usong ODIN make sure you don't mess with any of the checkboxes - just let ODIN decide what to check.
I'm not sure about the CWM error as I've not experienced that problem.

Odin3 v1.85 man Im stuck again been trying to get back for over an hour now cant get pc the pic up again.USB Device not recognized lol once if i do this time get it back Im done.Sell this sucker and head back to the G2x.Driving me insane lol

Weird that it keeps doing that. How did you manage to fix it the first time?

Dang 2 hours now im back up i guess i give up lol i held vol up and down cord plugged in then insert battery.

This method got my phone back this time but before i kept unplugging the phone from the cord and had 2 cords plugged into PC I kept switching back and forth then it recognized.Just messing around to see if i can find a way to get it to recognize in DL mode now and now it wont.

Hmm, if you've tried every usb port on your computer, try a different computer.
Maybe you got some funky usb host device on your computer that the phone just doesn't like.

I have tried I have a Windows 7 and an XP I get the same.I just picked up a new cable to see if that works and still the same.

No download mode

So, I got soft bricked. I tried to odin back to stock but ive tried every three button combo to get back in to download mode with nothing working. I try pulling battery then holding both vol keys then inserting battery and then plugging in usb cable while its plugged into the computer and odin is running. Ive tried every other variation of this as well. I have no idea what to do next, please help. Plugging in the USB after holding the keys only brings up the SAMSUNG screen. I can three button into 3e recovery but of course that is no help. Please help

I've exhausted every option presented to me short of sending it to samsung, the thing with that is all my roms and kernels are on the root of the sd card, the current rom before crash was dmans ucbl3 with stock kernel, will they refuse me service for any of this?

did you tried a different usb port on the computer or a different computer?
tried a different data usb cord?

I tried different computers, cords, drivers, everything. I even tried a different battery. Would a USB jig work?

possible. A jig would force your phone into DL mode.
I tried to help a few user in the past when they had a continuous power loop, samsung logo and reboot. over and over again.
It was later determined to be hardware.
If you are not able to get it into DL mode, chances are the store tech wont be able to either...you might be able to warranty thru samsung or att for hardware failure

Download mode is what I need to save me, I could unbrick to stock and go from there right?

yes..if you can get into DL mode:
android shoveling dirt or phone triangle with "!"
then you can flash with odin or heimdall..I usually use the heimdall 1 click method.
the important thing is use whatever you're comfortable with.

Sound like what happened to me and im waiting for my next indie now, warranty exchange of course

hold down both volume rockers together only!! and plug in usb keep holding till download mode pulls up on phone

problem with almost everything

So this started about a month ago and i tried to ignore it but i don't want to deal with it any longer. My is not recognized on my computer anymore even after i reinstalled the drivers multiple time. Its not recognized in odin, the "My Files" app and the music app are both missing. Also whenever i try to put it into download mode it just launches clockwork mod. I've tried every method besides the usb jig. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong or any solutions to try?

Can you download a new rom. If so can you flash a new one from cwm.

Yes i forgot to mention that. I can flash new roms and everything but they all have the same problem.

I also tried restoring from an older back up and it had the "My files" and the music app but it still wasn't recognized and still wasn't recognized on my computer

My initial thoughts?
Using the stock cable (it matters)?
Connected to computer's USB and not a hub?
Try a different computer?
Can you mount either SD from cwm and have it show up in windows?
If/when you solve the windows issue, I'd try wiping both emmc and external, then load your fav from and retry.

Ok so i was able to get it into download mode using the cm9 power button shortcut but it still isn't recognized in windows. Whenever it is connected it says "failed to mount unknown device"

try Restoring your computer to a earleir date, should fix the issue with the drivers ...

i've tried it on 5 different computers :/

I'm pretty sure if your in download mode, connection problems are only computer or cable related. Do you have another cable to try? How are you going into download mode?

I have used the stock cable and two other ones I have. The only way I could get it into download mode was through the power button shortcut in cm9. Every time I plug it in it says the device malfunctioned. I thought it was a driver problem but I've already reinstalled them a few times.

I just remembered that all of this started to happen after I used Odin to flash it back to stock because it was saying the MD 5 sums didn't match when I was trying to restore from an older recovery

Have you tried holding volume+- (with phone off and Odin running) and plugging cable in? I've had best success with download mode being recognized by doing that.

It should do neither since you are not touching the power button. But if that is in fact happening than i have never seen the issue.

It is very annoying. I'm almost to the point of getting the insurance on my phone and waiting a couple of weeks then either accidentally washing it or running it over and paying the $50 deductible

are u touching the power button, the answer should be no
or the power button is sticking down, to fix that try to repeatedly keep pushing the power hard to try to unstick it, sounds like a stuck power button to me, almost positive

i didnt touch the power button at all and it isn't stuck. I've tried everything i can think of. do you think getting it jtagged would fix it?

Bricked g2x

My g2x will not turn on at all. I've tried the g2x_v21e flasher that someone made and still not booting. It is stuck in apx and will not light up no matter what I try. I've tried flashing CWM as well as the freezer trick. Someone advise me on what I can do to fix the phone. Last known thing was it was clearing the user data in CWM and suddenly battery was pulled.

Try the cleanup batch if you are able to connect in APX mode. That would leave it as clean as it can be.

If its in apx mode can't you nvflash stock. I thought thats how you got it to work pull battery hold vol.up and down and power plug into computer nvflash stock

I've tried both the batch and flash stock. Neither will get the lg logo on my screen again.

dont have an xp machine. tried on a windows 7 and an xp vm. both are gave me errors.

while using odin phone got unplugged sgh-i727

i was using oden to root my samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket (carrier is ATT) and my phone was unplugged it keeps on coming to a screen with a phone and computer with a yellow triangle. it says there was a firmware upgrade issue. i get that because it was unplugged in the process. but ive tried to restart odin and redo but it seems to stop at recovery.img and wont go any further. ive tried to get the phone to go into recovery mode but can not get it it just keeps on going to the screen described earlier. can anyone help me ?

Try restarting computer, pull battery on phone for a little bit and try again!

The yellow triangle thing is download mode. Just flash with Odin if the com port lights up in Odin.

Hold both volume buttons and hold power. When you see the Samsung splash screen let go of power only.
