Hello,
I own an AT&T ONE X (SIM unlocked) curently being used outside US with a different carrier than AT&T obviously.
I have been trying the Check for updates since last thursday and still not available for my phone.
Does anybody know if AT&T phones outside US will get the JB update?
If not, is there a way to flash the update manually? I already have the 630MB zip file but could not figure out a way to flash it.
Tried thru recovery mode, but I get the error that /sdcard FS could not be mounted.
Thank you very much

You won't get the OTA unless you're connected to AT&T.
I assume you're doing this in stock recovery? That error is normal--you can ignore it.

Yes, I am using stock recovery.
But, where do I need to put the .zip file?
I put it under /sdcard but stock recovery does not see it.
Thanks for your reply!

No, I kept the original long name.
Should I rename it to update.zip? And where do I need to copy it to?
Thanks

Yes, rename it. It should be in the main directory on the sdcard, not in a folder.

Weird.
I still get the error mounting /sdcard.
Then when selecting Apply update from internal storage or from external storage all it does is to reboot the phone

Are you relocked on a stock rom? I'm not sure you can apply it otherwise.
I relocked, ruu'd to 2.20, and then flashed, and it applied perfectly the first time.
Yes I am running stock Rom and I see the pink locked message when rebooting into recovery.

Being outside the US and on a different carrier probably means you're not going to get the OTA. You can manually download it and flash in stock recovery.
Nope, right after I select apply update from internal storage, it reboots the phone.
Says something about operation invalid.
Let me try it again and send the exact error message.

Download the file again, and rename again. Make sure it's update.zip (i.e., no typos). Sounds like something in the file might be crashing recovery when it goes to look for it.
This is exactly what I get:
E: can't open /cache/recovery/command
E: failed to mount /sdcard (no such file or directory)
And then once I select Apply update from internal storage, I get:
Invalid operation
Success rebooting
Do you have a URL where I can download the file again?

Trying to install new update 1.50.531.1.....
Heres the problem:
Was told to unroot my phone before installing this update (since it was received directly

I proceeded to download the update to my sd card but did not install but not install update since
i was going to unroot my phone first.
I unrooted my phone to the most recent stock image (RUU_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.45.531.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_208218_signed).
After unrooting, I tried getting the 1.50.531.1 update over the air again but it would not push through.....I do however have it on my memory card.
I can't get this sucker to install. is there any way to get it to install?
Some info...

any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!
Move it to root of SD and power off boot into to bootloader and let it scan. It will ask if you want to update when it reads the file. Progress bar should be vertical on top right hand side of screen.

I am currently in bootloader mode but nothing loaded up. I'm just sitting in the menu. The file name is OTA_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.50.531.1-1.45.531.1_P_release_2240459qqlvzaiuepsomuw
should i rename it?
I do however see the "pg58.zip" thing scroll a bunch of times before it just sits in the bootloader though.
Try to rename it to the PG58IMG.zip image and see if that work's? It has to be named properly.

You need to rename the OTA zip to update.zip then boot the phone up in recovery mode, then update from there

Try taking the .zip off, it might already be there just hidden. I don't think update.zip will work because that would't register as a signed update zip.

Open the zip on pc do NOT unzip just look around. In there should be another zip for update. Name that PG58IMG.zip

If you're rooted/custom recovery.
Just boot into recovery and mount SD card.
Then connect to computer and put a new rom.zip on your phone.
Flash with recovery.
You're good to go.

Adb push works like this: adb push filename.zip /sdcard/
The command you tried tells adb to copy a file named rom.zip from fastboot folder on your PC to your SD card and rename it to that trickdroid filename. Guess you don't have a file called rom.zip there so adjust the command accordingly
So what's better twrp or cwm

However, if you can boot in to bootloader you should be able to RUU (and you are lucky you didn't completely brick your phone).

CleanROM is great. The regular version leaves in Sense styling if you like that or the Dev edition replaces some of that with AOSP styling (what I like). Both run very smooth and strip the bloatware from the phone.

Only OTA can be flashed in stock recovery, if you are S-ON and have superCID, you will brick if you run a 3.18/3.17 OTA in recovery. It is best to RUU and it is best to have S-OFF prior to RUUing if you were rooted at some point.
If you have bought the phone stock and never rooted/unlocked bootloader, you should have no trouble flashing an OTA zip through stock recovery. RUUing is better though as OTA does not overwrite all partitions.

No you can't flash an RUU through recovery, simple as that. RUU is only available in an exe format.
Sim unlocked doesn't mean anything in terms of modding, it just means your can use any Sim in your phone.
It's most likely the drivers which are causing your problems. Try uninstalling and reinstalling your HTC drivers. And if you have any other phone software on your pc, like Samsung, get rid of that.

I didn't update via TWRP! I get the update OTA! Also I have unlocked BL, Root and TWRP.
If you didn't get it via OTA you can sideload the Zip from Post #1.

I have a question. If this can be side loaded to recovery and I assume you mean twrp or cwm why can't it just be down loaded to device and flashed through recovery? Maybe I just don't understand what you mean by sideloaded. Thanks if you reply and if not I read the op and thanks for this

The stock recovery does not look for a zip on the device without a command file telling it there is one present to flash.

The OTA process works with TWRP but reloads stock recovery AND removes root. No problem getting both back through the usual methods.

I'm going to say some things not to be mean or rude but to keep you out of trouble. It is not installing because you do not know what you are doing and have not taken the initiative to learn some basics for yourself. Except for the fact you are not on the correct ROM to install this update in the first place, I would say losing root and TWRP would be the best thing for now.
You are going screw up your device and have no idea how to fix it yourself or even what information to provide for others to help you fix it. Your best bet would to be restoring to stock with a factory image and not screw around until you are up to speed.
There are ton of FAQ's and guides on this site in the general sections. Learn how to install and use ADB and fastboot. Read up on the different types up zip files and how they are installed. If you are using a one click, understand what ADB or fastboot commands are going on behind the scenes and exactly what it is pushing to your device.
Once you have a general understanding of things, please come and play around as much as you want. If you do something that causes a bootloop you will at least know how to recover your device.

A 5.4Mb recovery is not going to fit in a 1.4Mb zip file. Also see post 3, 4 and 8. Root and TWRP or CWM will remain intact. Bad information is worse than no information.

Not trying to give bad info just relating my personal experience. You are correct that a full recovery image file at 5.4mb could not fit, even zipped, in a 1.4mb update, however, a full recovery image file is not needed to change the behavior of things. Root and the ability to boot back into TWRP were lost during my update process. It was easily corrected but it did happen. Others have reported a different experience. That was mine.
