There are plenty of other threads that talk about possible ways to fix this.
However, if you can boot in to bootloader you should be able to RUU (and you are lucky you didn't completely brick your phone).

I am assuming because you posted in this forum that you have the Dual Core LTE version of the One X? Is that correct? Who is your carrier? Also, I am assuming if you tried to flash a ROM that your bootloader is unlocked and you are rooted?

You could go into bootloader, flash TWRP recovery, boot into TWRP, and you should be able to mount the SD card.

CleanROM is great. The regular version leaves in Sense styling if you like that or the Dev edition replaces some of that with AOSP styling (what I like). Both run very smooth and strip the bloatware from the phone.

Stick to the ROMs, mods, etc. on my index thread. You'll be safe from flashing anymore stuff meant for the international One X:

hi everybody today i tried to update my HOX with this stock room "stock rooted 2.33.162.2 - odex/deodex and unsecure boot.img with init.d"
my android version is 4.0.4
HTC sense versio 4.0
Software Number 1.88.707.2
HTC SDK API level 4.11
HTC Extension Version 403_1_GA_4
then after i flashed the room the HTC wont boot (just shows me the white HTC screen) and i still have access to the recovery mode (CWM) i downloaded another room to tried to flash the phone (my nandroid bk shows me an MD5 error when i tried to restore) then i dont have any idea about how can i move the new zip file to the cellphone, i am very frustrated because i cant do it anything yet
please somebody help me
Thanks in advance for your help
If you get it working, the first order of business is to ditch CWM and switch to TWRP as it was not properly ported to our device. Are you sure you have a XL? The dual core version? Make sure you have the right ROM for the right device. I can't help you to transfer as you are using CWM and I'm not familiar with mounting. Word on the street is that there is a good chance it'll wipe your entire SDcard

thanks for your quickly response, well i have an AT&T HTC one X and yes its the dual core version, the phone comes with the CWM, unlocked and rooted, how can i install the TWRP ? because if i connect the phone to the computer doesnt shows me anything (i cane heard the tone when windows detect something new but its all) i tried to use odin but odin doesnt shows me anything and i tried with fastboot and adb but doesnt fount the device connected
from recovery do a factory reset and try again to boot it.... if u have a nandroid backup there is a setting to turn off md5 checking so it will restore......... as long as your using TWRP recovery (which you should be if not) you can mount usb storage and transer whatever you need......

you need to download twrp recovery, should be in the stickies, and flash it from hboot.
stick the recovery image in your adb/fastboot folder and rename it to twrp.img, boot phone into bootloader
from cmd prompt, fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
then on device select bootloader, then recovery.....once in twrp recovery you can mount usb and transfer..
no matter what just focus on getting twrp recovery flashed...your fixes will all come after that

any custom rom that you flash will be rooted already. As far as the red text goes, that is there to stay until the device gets s-off or you go back to completely stock/use a stock recovery.

sorry for the stupid question but what is s-off?
Security-off....see the phones which HTC does allow bootloader unlocking don't really get unlocked. Their unlocking really just partially unlocks and to have a HTC phone with a truly "unlocked" boitloader you have to have s off. Which gives the user full rights over the entire phone....so htcdev unlocked bootloaders aren't really even unlocked, they're simply less restricted.......

Hey guy's
I tried to root my HTC one S but after I unlocked the bootloader (boot loader is now UnLocked) , I couldn't run the SuperSu zip file because When I
open the recovery it shows a red message saying:
"this build is for development purposes only do not distribute outside htc with out htc write permission failure to comply my lead to legal action ."
i cant do nothing else with the device,he's stuck on that massage ":this build...."
all i can do is go to recovery mod and that's about it,cant find nor open the supersu zip file
does any one know what to do to repair this?
It sounds like you didn't flash a custom recovery. If you can get back into the bootloader go to fastboot and do that.

dude,i dont understand why your'e saying "put it on sdcard" i dont have a slot for an sdcard it's the one s
and if your'e meaning to the sdcard folder;I cant get inside there too..
the only thing that works for me is the bootloader and hasoon 2000.
Dude...where you drag and drop files from your computer is considered sd card as you can clearly read!!! Hasoon2000 is a person btw.
But seriously, If you're having these issues you don't need to root. Honestly after ics there really isn't any point . If you know what you are doing then maybe you are stuck in your ways, but if you don't there really isn't any point considering you are asking the same exact question that has been asked nearly every day....

Honestly, I turned my one S into a shiny sleek paperweight for about 2 hours because I came from devices that all had S-off so I was used to just dropping the zip on there and flashing it. Long story short I didn't fast boot the boot.img til the 3rd try or so.
Hello,
I just unlocked my phone (HTC Amaze 4G - T-Mobile- ICS) and when I go in to bootloader, it shows it unlocked, but I can't seem to fine SuperUser or get it on there using Hansoon2000's tool kit. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I just switched from an iPhone and I'm new to Android.
Thanks!

Could you please explain how to do that. I am familiar with flashing using a recovery such as CWM or TWRP. Can that be done that way or do I need to use an RUU on the computer?

Thanks, I think I'll try that. Doing it the "official" way of using the RUU files always errors out in the end. It doesn't give a reason.

I didn't want to take any chances with a 3rd party rom that just so happens to have sense built in, I wanted the original OEM software. I was having troubles because I was having a hard time finding the correct RUU file to flash. Look at these file names and try and decipher them:
RUU_Evita_UL_Cingular_US_1.85.502.3_R2_Radio_0.17.32.09.12_10.86.32.08L_release_262092_signed.exe
Or
RUU_Evita_UL_Cingular_US-1.73.502.2_2FE6772699D8596307CC997452BB8D25.exe
BUT NONE OF THOSE WORKED!
But I found this: htc_one_x_RUU_2.20.502.7_att_us_08022012.exe. and it worked. At least this file name has AT&T in it...

The stock pre-rooted ROMs are all posted in Development as well. You could have just flashed one of those from recovery, instead of having to relock/re-unlock the bootloader and mess with RUUs.

Nope. I mean, not this time I couldn't. What you said is 100% true, I "could" of done that, if I was able to access the External SD card within recovery, which I could NOT do. I could not mount it on the computer, nor could I access it within recovery. I kept getting access denied.

Htc One S bricked
Hi im relatively new at rooting and am currently experiencing issues with a bricked device.
i have two htc one s devices
my personal one is running cm10 ville with clockwork touch recovery and is working perfectly
however the second one i was using the same exact files.
this one is bricked
its in a constant bootloop.
i can get back to my recovery just fine and get to the fastboot in the phone fine
i cleared my cache
wiped my data and wiped the dalvik cache all perfectly fine when i try to flash the cm10 official rom back on it cannot mount the sd card
i would try to install a different recovery and try again maybe using viper one s
but i cannot get the phone to power on
it doesnt showup on the computer when it is plugged in while in fastboot
when i try the cmd fastboot flash recovery it says waiting for device
any advice. this is not my own phone so i need it repaired pretty quickly.
any helpful information would be much appreciated.

Bootloop does not mean your bricked...means you need to fastboot flash boot.img

Hold down the power button for 10 seconds then after the touch buttons stop flashing, just hold the volume button and see if ot enters the bootloader.

This little post just pulled me out of missery. Love ya man!
all you guys getting sorted
make a nandroid and sdcard bu NOW and put them on pc,
obviously leave a copy of nandroid on phone also
makes it a lot easier if you get in trouble again
and you/we will
Mounts and Storage --> Format everything --> Now Mount USB Drive --> Put Gapps and ROM
Flash it, erase cache & and Dalvik...Blah blah blah. Flash boot.img in fastboot, and there you go.
Everybody, please remember this and there won't be noob q&a anymore...

Okay some how my phone lost its rom and I dont have a rom on the sd card. How do I get one on the sd card using hboot or recovery? Not being able to remove the sd card and battery is the worst thing HTC could have ever done!
if you have twrp recovery mount the sd card then drag and drop

I dont have twrp. I dont know what it is. I have clockwork mod for a recovery and i keep getting E: Can't mount /sdcard/
yep clockwork has that problem you have two choices you can relock your bootloader and run the ruu and start over or fastboot the twrp recovery it is in the development section and mount your sd card from it

i would relock and run the ruu then do some research before you try custom roms

This is a known issue on CWM. More research next time will prevent getting into such jams.
That's good that you did install the recovery because relocking an going back to stock with the ruu would have been a waste of time

Just re-downloading a rom and getting ready to flash it.
