As said in the title, is there a way so that when I have my phone in landscape mode, it uses the Tablet UI (mainly for apps, don't really care for home screen)? I know this seems very unlikely but boy would it be awesome
BTW I have a Galaxy Nexus running the latest Cyanogenmod Nightly with Android 4.2

I would check the development section. Some roms have the option for tablet ui but not sure the details of how it would work. Also post there instead of here you'll get more exposure there

Hi everyone. I'm experiencing a slight lagging on the screen transition animation. It is occuring when I'm not on the proper orientation, such as when I hold my tablet portrait, or when on the flipped landscape (Samsung logo on the top, camera on bottom). It's just not as smooth as when I hold my tablet properly (Samsung logo at the bottom).
Is this a common issue or is it just my tab?
Here the detailed info about my tab.

As if every phone manufacturer tried hard to make already smooth phone lagged, my previous SE x10i lag horribly when using stock UI with added timescape, after rooted and using custom rom, it runs smoothly despite only 384 RAM and old snapdragon proc.
I wish hardware manufacturer like TI, Qualcomm, etc would release drivers just like PC / notebook and let us install OS of our preference.
The launcher comes with Touchwiz UI is very bad. It slow, heavy and lag very much although good hardware properties. Try another laucher such as GoLauncher HD for Tab and you will feel the smooth.
The stock launcher is really really worse, I replaced it by Go laucher hd and gaming is more smooth very much.

I too have the same problem with my tab even after an official update to 4.2.1. It really disappoints me while playing games. Hope samsung guys fix this very soon
I've also seen tablet of friends and I think it's a common issue.
Carbon Rom is awesome, made my tab twice as fast, plus it has a much better kernel included. Check it out! Based on CM 10.1.

those single core samsung devices usually run at lower resolutions and have less touchwiz bloat added

Hey just wondering if any one has given any thought to this, I know the leak is for the European, GSM variant but would it be possible to mix and match to make a Rom.i imagine not without the kernel but I figured did ask.

Read somewhere on here that the CM team is already working on CM10 for this device now that we have an unlockable boot loader.

Yes that is awesome, but I actually don't mind the Samsung overlay (highly modified and running nova of course), and there camera has really grown on me. I take allot of pics and while I like pro capture, LG camera and camera zoom fx, they never really seem to work like stock for me.

i was also wondering if we would get a port of the jellybean + touchwiz leaked update.
for some reason i like touchwiz a lot more then stock now.
Even AOSP Jellybean without Samsung enhancements would be interesting to try.
I'm not much into CyanogenMod (no offense to its many fans).

Hi
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to get CM10.1 to tablet mode (or Android 4.2.1 in general)?
I got same thing m8.. I got a samsung tab2 10.1 p5110 runing cm10.1 20130108-NIGHTLY-p5110 rom and the Google apps 12122012.
Installed the rom 2 times and its in phone ui mode not table mode.. Soft keys in wrong place back it hard to you.
Dont know if its just this nightly?
TeamEOS has an option to switch the buttons back to the tablet location.

They aren't in the "wrong place", 4.2 moves them to the middle.

While EOS has the option to move the buttons, you are still stuck on the phablet interface, which creates launcher lag and actually reduces screen real estate.
I recommend trying Dream's 4.2 which has the full tablet UI implemented. This makes it the fastest/smoothest 4.2 experience on Xoom at the moment, retaining the practical UI we all know and love.
Regards.

Apex is definitely the smoothest launcher with the new UI, but nowhere near how smooth it is with the old Tablet UI interface. I have a widget heavy set up and on any of the 4.2.1 ROMs in phablet mode there is lag, and I've tested all of the launchers! The devs are aware and have confirmed the issue with the new systemUI, there should hopefully be a fix soon!
Regards.
To me cm10.1 seems as the most polished version of 4.2.1 for the xoom (mz601 at least). I've tested them all. CM seems most lagfree of the three. But the thing is that i really liked the old ui better. I'm actually hoping that someone makes a flashable zip for cm10.1 to return to tablet mode since cm probobly wont implement this to their roms.
whats the difference between cm10? as that maintains the tablet interface and seems super smooth to me (overclocked to 1.4ghz)

It doesn't, only stock based ROM's support it (Hydro, Cleanrom)
If it did support the dock I would be using it
this month
the tf300t has already gone in end of life, asus is introducting the new memo 301 that supersedes it so as for tf101 support will cease.
but 4.2 should be already done, they were working on it and I doubt that they wont release it.
If they don't update it to the android 4.2, we always have cyanogen mod and I bet the dock support will come soon as it also came pretty quick for cyanogen mod 10

Hell no!
Personally, I hope we'll never will. The UI sucks when in landscape mode. New functionalities are great but I don't think that they're worth geting used to new status bar.

if you dont want it just dont upgrade but why you want to piss off everybody else that want it?
4.2.x is extremely buggy, laggy and problematic. The new UI is terrible for a 10" tablet. Asus will have to do some serious work to make it work properly on the transformer without complaints imo. I'm not convinced we will see it.
I'm not looking forward to it if they do release it along with all the posts about how to go back to 4.1.1 due to the poorly designed UI.
So I have been on Touchwiz 4.1.2 (AxisM RLS 21) for a long time and when the GEL laucher apk came out I installed it on my phone and I fell in love with it as soon as I got it and that got me wondering..."What features of Touchwiz do I actually use?" If I dont use any features of Touchwiz then I want to flash a 4.4 ROM (most likely Cyanogen Mod) on my S3. So my question to you is What features are specific to Touchwiz (4.1.2) that arent in Stock (4.4) or on Cyanogen Mod?

not just that but knox is like a sandboxed environment essentially separating 2 parts of your phone
for like example 1 work and 1 for development if one of them gets compromised it wont affect the other and you can manage things like remote wipe etc

You lose all of the Samsung branded apps, Kies, and the questionable smart stay function. In return, you get complete control of your device. I have tried a few times to go back to a TW rom in the last year (when CM development slows down and I get bored), but it always feels like going back to kindergarten...
I am on sspencer10's 4.4 build and love it. I even am using the new ART and enjoying the best battery life and smooth function that I have ever had. A few CM options have yet to be thrown in, but these guys are moving fast, and this is my daily driver since last week.

Liquid Smooth
After months of fearing the rooting process, I pulled the trigger last night and rooted my phone for the first time. I flashed a rom (Liquid Smooth to be specific) and I'm loving it. You should definitely get off of TouchWiz as you'll never want to go back!

I saw the OP and I saw that the changelog hasnt been updated in a while. If you dont mind can you tell me what are the bugs and whatnot on it?
The OP in that thread is current. He just does not build everyday because CM does not do a lot daily. Others are cherry picking a lot to add features; they also revert a lot of stuff they cannot get to work. Right now, the camera is not ultra reliable, but everything else is great right now. I use nova, tibu, ROM manager, es file explorer, etc. for utility. 200 or so other apps are stable as well.
