[Q] Tablet mode in CM10.1 - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to get CM10.1 to tablet mode (or Android 4.2.1 in general)?

I got same thing m8.. I got a samsung tab2 10.1 p5110 runing cm10.1 20130108-NIGHTLY-p5110 rom and the Google apps 12122012.
Installed the rom 2 times and its in phone ui mode not table mode.. Soft keys in wrong place back it hard to you.
Dont know if its just this nightly?

TeamEOS has an option to switch the buttons back to the tablet location.

They aren't in the "wrong place", 4.2 moves them to the middle.

While EOS has the option to move the buttons, you are still stuck on the phablet interface, which creates launcher lag and actually reduces screen real estate.
I recommend trying Dream's 4.2 which has the full tablet UI implemented. This makes it the fastest/smoothest 4.2 experience on Xoom at the moment, retaining the practical UI we all know and love.
Regards.

I use apex launcher with the dock disabled and I don't have any lag.

Apex is definitely the smoothest launcher with the new UI, but nowhere near how smooth it is with the old Tablet UI interface. I have a widget heavy set up and on any of the 4.2.1 ROMs in phablet mode there is lag, and I've tested all of the launchers! The devs are aware and have confirmed the issue with the new systemUI, there should hopefully be a fix soon!
Regards.

To me cm10.1 seems as the most polished version of 4.2.1 for the xoom (mz601 at least). I've tested them all. CM seems most lagfree of the three. But the thing is that i really liked the old ui better. I'm actually hoping that someone makes a flashable zip for cm10.1 to return to tablet mode since cm probobly wont implement this to their roms.

whats the difference between cm10? as that maintains the tablet interface and seems super smooth to me (overclocked to 1.4ghz)

cm10 = 4.1
cm10.1 = 4.2

dont know..... 1digit? I don't think it's worth the upgrade and loss of the correct button layout

The Unofficial CM10 by RaymanFX is really stable for the tf101.
Give it a spin..

I agree. He team EOS3 ROM has been very stable for me and has worked better than any of the others I have tried. I am running build 74 and love it. That doesn't mean it is perfect thou. I am still having issues getting Bluetooth to turn on and I can't Mount external storage.
Another vote for CM10 by RaymanFX here. Love it.

It is pretty stable except for audio. I am losing audio probably after sleep or deep sleep. The only solution is reboot. Very annoying...!
Not to hijack this thread but what about the official cm10.
How is it?
I never even see it discussed, let alone recommended here.

It's pretty good as well. From some reason that I couldn't understand, I had some WiFi issues with it that weren't reported, though I guess it will work fine for you.
But why don't you just test it? you can always go back to your favourite ROM

Team EOS3 has the same issue but with the KAT kernel and KAT tools you can reinitialize audio without a reboot
does the official cm10 have dock support yet? anyone tried it?
I tried both the official CM10 nightly and RaymanFX's B4. Both work smoothly and reliably. RaymanFX's has an overclocked kernel, so it can be a little bit faster. Here are the differences that I found significant:
1. RaymanFX's has the advantage that had a keyboard dock battery indicator. With CM10 there is no way to get it, even with the dual battery widget.
2. There is a difference in the HDMI display behavior: CM10 displays full screen without the status bar, which is nicer fur watching videos. RaymanFX's displays the status bar and is letterboxed (at least on my 720p TV). Unlike the ASUS ROM, in either of them there is no way to choose the behavior.
Both of them miss things I liked about the ASUS ROM. and I haven't found workarounds yet:
1. There is no Hebrew layout for the physical keyboard. the settings don't have this option.
2. in the ASUS rom there is an option in the settings to configure the right mouse key (when connecting an external mouse). is there a way to configure the right key to 'back'
3. trackpad pinch to zoom can be annoying. When I scroll in the browser, it always zoom in/out a little all the time
4. trackpad scrolling gesture direction is reverse (like OSX lion but unlike Windows).
One more thing, I found that the official cm10 nightly has issues with audio through HDMI. RaymanFX's version doesn't

I have tried both the EOS JB and rayman's CM10. i'm currently still on rayman's CM10 and it seems mostly polished. EOS has more regular releases than rayman, but rayman releases are (supposedly) more consistently stable.
Slightly off-topic, but is there a way to get the ASUS Apps/Widgets installed on the JB builds? I can live without the basic graphic changes ASUS made, but I really like their file manager and weather widgets.

+1 for this!
I would like asus file manager too
One. Advantage. I found in EOS over the others is on screen display for the various toggles on the keyboard, like wi-fi on/off etc.

[Q] Does JellyBean feel *heavy* to anyone? Especially the notification bar?

Hey guys I have been on Knzo's Chocolate with Marmite for a while and while its certainly a great combo, JellyBean just *feels* heavy. Its not slow or anything but it just feels *heavy* you know? Also, the notification bar REALLY lags when I pull it down and its certainly not as fast as ICS. Is anybody experiencing the same problem? Or questions?
Thanks!
Nope

Really? Hmm I don't know I did a full wipe and everything! I mean its smooth but the notification lag really kills the experience :/
I haven't had any lag either.. Not notification bar..
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
I think the heaviness thing is true for the notification tray.. it must be the fact that its not transparent, and the text on top seems a little crowded to me. However, performance is as good as ever.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
It's not just you. It lags really bad on my phone too, whatever the ROM/Kernel combo.
It becomes a whole lot faster when I disable Google Now, however that kind of defeats the object of running JB instead of ICS.
I'm almost certain that it's a limitation of only having 512mb RAM.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Oh.. No.. Mine is lighting responsive! I am using ts5 rom.. Which for me is better than others. Including codename..
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Hmm whats the *ts5* rom? I've tried anything and everything and the notification bar just flat out lags. But everything else is very smooth so it makes going back to ICS kind of hard haha :/
my CM10 is fast and stable
I've tried cm10, aokp jb and slim bean, and while I found slim bean to be the best (by far, the only to not to freeze and reboot with 1.2ghz overclock) of these three, all three of them had the same problem with graphics intensive games (Dead Space, NOVA 3, Modern Combat 3) where they would lag like crazy and the controls would freeze. This NEVER happened with cm9. Games ran incredibly smooth with cm9. BUT...I was so impressed with how far and away better Slim Bean was than the others that I'm going to give Slim ICS a try when I have a chance to flash it.
Other than the graphic intensive games that lag, I think JB is great and loved Google Now, but I can live without it as the ICS roms are (I have found) just as smooth and more usable than the JB roms at this point.

oh sorry about that.. haha.. its actually called "JellyB-TSM 5" but I think around yesterday its already updated to version 6. You can check it out under the nexus s android development section.. For me it is fast.. but some other people might have different experience. So just create a nandroid backup.. and give that ROM a flash.. and see how it turns out.. any problem you can simply revert via nandroid.. hehe.. :good:

I used to love to flirt with miui back in my galaxy S running gigerbread but it could never be my daily driver. It would constantly loose data connection, no app drawer so all the apps had to be listed in your home screens and no way to sort them alphabetically automatically... just couldnt do it.
Have all those issues been resolved?

don't know about data loss, i float back and forth between 3g and 4g seeing as i'm in a ****ty area, but there's still no app drawer and no way to sort automatically (at least no way to sort that i've seen, but no app drawer for sure)
Are the same issues present as in the CM10 builds? I am assuming they are.
Can't wait for it to mature a little bit more before trying it out. I am a getting a little too old to flash new roms!

There are tons of features in MIUI besides the launcher, I'd suggest you take a look at http://en.miui.com/
Just off the top of my head, things MIUI has that no other rom can match - theming, backup/restore, contacts/sms/dialer, speed, the music player, toggles etc.
I used to swear by MIUI when I had my Evo 4G, by far the most unique and best rom on Android, it replaces so many apps you need to install. I just hope it becomes stable for ICS/JB soon.

exactly...well stated!
So far I'm finding this miui ROM has better 4g data capabilities than any cm ROM that I've tried. I've tested numerous ROMs in an area that has shifting 3/4g and this miui build has the same 4g strength as my Beans tw ROM.

Yes please do tell..... the rom for data switching that I've tested so far has been LiquidSmooth which I'm still using because it gives me waaaaaayyyyy better service than any TW rom. I would love to know which MIUI rom that y'all are using that has such good data switching because the ones ive used are OK but no where near as good as Liquid.

Not sure if that has changed. However, I just created a folder, put all of my less used apps in there then dragged it to the launcher. Voila, app drawer. kind of.
The thread has been locked. Hope it was for a positive reason but there was a bit of non productive postings. Regardless, I've been using it as a daily driver with lightflow to control the LED. Great ROM.

Theres a few minor issues but not enough to keep me away. Lightflow fixes the led issue and some have experienced a power button issue. But no spontaneous reboot or things like that. Data signal is what really rocks.

It doesn't, only stock based ROM's support it (Hydro, Cleanrom)
If it did support the dock I would be using it
this month
the tf300t has already gone in end of life, asus is introducting the new memo 301 that supersedes it so as for tf101 support will cease.
but 4.2 should be already done, they were working on it and I doubt that they wont release it.
If they don't update it to the android 4.2, we always have cyanogen mod and I bet the dock support will come soon as it also came pretty quick for cyanogen mod 10

Personally, I hope we'll never will. The UI sucks when in landscape mode. New functionalities are great but I don't think that they're worth geting used to new status bar.

if you dont want it just dont upgrade but why you want to piss off everybody else that want it?
4.2.x is extremely buggy, laggy and problematic. The new UI is terrible for a 10" tablet. Asus will have to do some serious work to make it work properly on the transformer without complaints imo. I'm not convinced we will see it.
I'm not looking forward to it if they do release it along with all the posts about how to go back to 4.1.1 due to the poorly designed UI.

Make Phone Have Tablet UI whilst Landscape? [Android 4.2]

As said in the title, is there a way so that when I have my phone in landscape mode, it uses the Tablet UI (mainly for apps, don't really care for home screen)? I know this seems very unlikely but boy would it be awesome
BTW I have a Galaxy Nexus running the latest Cyanogenmod Nightly with Android 4.2
