At&t One X jellybean - HTC One S

One X received their jellybean update today, maybe T-Mobile's is not far behind ?!?!

What does the One X have anything to do with One S? They are different devices with different hardware, on different (although merged) carriers.

actually theres not much difference in the hardware or software. The point I was trying to make was that so far the U.S, carriers were the last to release it.......so maybe T-mobile maybe releasing it soon, thats all

doubt it

it allows you to make calls over a wifi connection. It's only useful for people that have a bad signal. It's not free and still uses up minutes from your account and it drains the battery.
And yes you can turn it off but the only way to uninstall it is through rooting .

Wrong forum dude. Post this in the one x forum instead

Someone is pretty uninformed, it is "free" you can call t-mobile to add wifi-calling to your plan and it wont use any of your minutes. It also doesn't drain the battery more.

WiFi calling is already included in the plan. It all depends on if your phone comes with it preinstalled.
And it does use your minutes and having WiFi on does drain the battery faster than having just a mobile connection. Sheesh.

[Q] any news on ics coming to U.S for T mobile?

Hello all, I was wondering if any of you knowledgeable people had any news of I.C.S coming to the US , via T Mobile? There is so much speculation on this, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this subject? I contacted T Mobile representive and she did not know what I was talking about.....then she said oooh that will be months away! I hope she's wrong! Months away? Really, what is your understanding on this subject? I will appreciate any input or opinions, thank you

I was waiting for this: I think every carrier should have its own "When is ICS coming to my Sensation OTA?" thread.
That said, the information you got is typically non-informative. I remember struggling to explain what a software update was to one of the reps. Now, of course, I realize that they simply don't have an answer and, per posts to be found elsewhere (Search!) say "in a month or two" as a basic TMO CYA policy.

Thank you for the tip.
Honestly I'm glad T-Mobile decided to delay the update. For some reason HTC now thinks it's acceptable to turn on your WiFi and/or Mobile Network whenever they damn well please. Apparently it takes a carrier to change their mind.
Hopefully it's a quality update when released!
Yeah I hope so too

There's no way that's an official Tmobile statement. Did you see the terrible grammar and run-on sentences? That person has a junior high education at most. An actual press release would be much better formulated.
I'm guessing that "update" was copied and pasted directly from a thread here at XDA.

Do you normally leave them on? If so then you're immune. This is a well documented issue with every ROM using the latest bases from HTC. Just read a few pages of any ROM thread using the base. Turning off auto-sync mostly eliminates the issue but it's a serious pain.
Regardless of workarounds, I find it utterly unacceptable for my phone to turn on its own data connection without me telling it to. I'm sure T-Mobile feels the same way. Imagine the support calls and troubleshooting nightmares.

On some tests i see that Tmobile One S has inferior battery life than the international one.
That's due to the bloatware they put on it. Rooting fixes that though.

No disrespect--just curious
Why would you be "new to the One S" and now asking if you should get something else and wondering about issues. If you mean you don't have it yet then there are many threads and posts on the forum already. And as far as I can say, it is perfect if you are OK with no SD Card and 9.3gb available internal memory--I am. Some complain on Multitasking--I have no issues. Although, all that is individual needs and opinions--and is covered extensively in various threads--
Highly recommend starting to read the General and Q&A sections for a wealth of info--
Whatever your currrent status is with the phone--enjoy it if you got it--and you will enjoy it, if you buy it--
Ken
I love the phone only thing I've noticed is multitasking, and signal. With regards to multitasking what happens is let's say you're web browsing or playing a game whatever then you do something else like check xda app. When you go back a lot of times instead of those apps continuing where they left off from it has to start up back again. It actually does it for xda app also. With the signal cell tower signal I just get a lot of fluctuations between bars dropping and coming back.

I flashed Trickdroid and Axiom S and wifi calling still not usable. I have turrible reception in parts of my house.
I wonder if the crappy wifi calling quality has its root in an buggy radio, if another ROM is also suffering from it? Anyhow, that is really the only "defect" I can find with this model. Otherwise, it's good! I wish it would have a removable SD card, but I recall reading somewhere in the forums that it is possible to mount external drives and such on this phone, but you need a USB Y cable (since the phone can't power the external device), or at least that's what I remember. One might also need a ROM to use the phone as a USB host. The possibility to do this makes me a little less upset over having just 16 GB of memory (or on TMob US only 10GB because of all the junk it comes with).
GS3 FTW!
Earlier today I received a notification that said I needed to get a newer sim for WiFi calling. I'll stop by the T-Mobile store tomorrow(today).

Latest news on the wifi fix?

Hi all,
I am considering buying this phone over the S3 (I mainly like the look and feel of the OX over the S3 plastic-y, cheap, feel). I am hesitant to purchase one because I know about the wifi problem and am not sure whether the issue has really been fixed, I just know HTC acknowledged it.
Has anyone heard any updates on this?
Thanks.

Yes, the issue with the casing of the phone flexing, and this affecting the antenna clips and WiFi reception, was only present for the international (Tegra) version. This AT&T (Snapdragon S4) version is not designed this way.
Some people have had signal issues with WiFi on the AT&T version, but they seemed improved after the 1.85 firmware update. I've never had any real issues with WiFi.

Same no issues
From beast called HTC One X
owned since a day or two before it was up for public sale, no wifi issues here. i once had some issues that i thought were due to wifi, but weren't. regardless, minor in hindsight and overall this phone has been exceptional. i highly recommend.
I use WiFi at work and at home daily with no problems. Also never had any problems with WiFi networks at any of my friends' houses.
You always have the 30 day return policy, too.
mine is international tegra 3 version and I have this wifi issue.
when comparing to another phone side by side, my HOX can only pickup 2 signals compare to another phone which is more than 5.
by comparing the signal strength of the 2 wifi signals only with the other phone, the -dBm is still higher in HOX.
One magical press on between the power ON button and the volume button, the signal strength improves.
So, this is really the design problem.
Until now, HTC still saying there is no fix on this yet after reported to them. :crying:

Is that a normal feature on HTC devices or something? Because I've seen something similar on custom rom's, but never on stock devices (gnex, Droid X, 2012 and 2013 nexus 7's ).
Just looked for it and couldn't find it. How could they remove such an important feature that is a selling point?

Since VZW's version is the only One (capitalization intended!) that's been released in the US so far, maybe it's going to be missing for all local carriers. Android Central seems to think so, but also notes it's coming in a future software update (as others have mentioned):
http://goo.gl/Fv7uIF
Things like this are why I tried so hard for so long to stay with T Mobile. Their customer service is second to none, and they don't screw around with the phones. But their data coverage was just awful for me and simply wasn't improving...
Here's to hoping somebody finds a way to root this phone. I don't regret going from my 2013 One to the M8, but I do miss Viper...

No, battery fixes...stupid aux/headphone issue... The issue with airplane mode having to be toggled to get things to sync....things that never should have happened. the devs will figure all this stuff out before att or LG does anything. But that is known.
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Free mobile app
keep in mind that ATT shipped with ver. 10d, which is ahead of some other variants. we're technically not that bad off. lets hope att is bundling updates together. it's a huge task for att to certify each small update.
The only thing i need fixed is the damn data issue. All to frequently when my phone goes from LTE to H+ my data gets wonky and wont work. toggling airplane mode isn't a huge deal, but it shouldn't need to be done.
I don't think its been long enough since release. I would imagine they are still collecting bug reports.
