Click the Phone Button, and select file with *modem* in its name (leave if there is no such file)
Click the CSC Button, and select file with *csc* in its name (leave if there is no such file)

7. Double check everything above and hit start!
8. once flashing is complete the phone will reboot automatically and soon you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. You can then unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.

I am an IDIOT...Tab 7.0 Plus

I'm the somewhat proud owner of a GT-P6200L in the U.S. who is eagerly awaiting the ICS upgrade.
Obvously, to go through Samsung Kies and to not root or download a Rom requires me to wait until Samsung decides to grace me.
I'm not crazy about doing anything "non-factory" to this device as it is excellent just as it is, but if I were to decide to upgrade to ICS, where can I find COMPLETE STEP by STEP instructions on EXACTLY how to perform the update? Does it even exist?
Your help is much appreciated!
settings>about device>software update.
of by Using Samsung Kies>connect device>check for firmware update;etc.
If you're looking for a guide to install our only official ICS to your GT-P6200L, there isnt really a guide.
I will explain briefly: 1. Wipe 2. Odin 3. Done.
read and search for more details.
Not to be a douche, but look at the stickies or search before asking.

You can use Odin 1.85 tick box auto-reboot and F.Reset Time. click PDA and select the extracted TAB 7+ ICS Firmware. Boot your TAB to download mode. (From OFF, press and hold power and down volume key, once you see the galaxy tab screen turn on, let go of the power button while still pressing the down key until the menu appears telling you to press the volume up key to continue.) Plug in your TAB to the PC (using the stock cable) wait for the yellow ID:COM port number to appear on the ODIN screen then click the start button.
OR, you can also use mobile odin. :good: (The Joy of Flashing.... without the cable juggle )

Here, hope this help, just follow his instruction and you are good to go. I've done it, no flaws, ics is running smooth~
Search for odin via google, it is a small file less than 1mb.

Flashing Firmware with Odin
PDA refers to the build version of the software/firmware
Phone refers to the baseband/modem version
CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either.
.PIT refers to the partition information table you only need it if you screw up your partition table or if the firmware specifically requires it because of a change in the partition table layout. It's very likely you may never have to use this.
If the package only contains one .tar archive then it will have everything, pda+phone+csc, in the one file.
If it has multiple .tar archive then:
The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
.tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the csc bit of the package
.tar with code/PDA in the name is the PDA part of the firmware package
Please ensure that KIES is closed and not running in the system tray! Kies doesn't like Odin, it's like the big brother who's always jealous that his little brother is getting to flash all the phones so he starts to flash block.
You do not need to root or unroot the device to update the firmware.
Get Odin v3.04 from here:https://androidfirmwares.net/Tools/Download/8
(Just extract the Odin folder)
You will also need to install the Samsung USB drivers for the device if you haven't installed KIES. Get them from here: Download
Just install like any Windows program...
1. Just download the firmware version you want from the second or third posts and extract the .tar or .tar.md5 file in the archive and save it somewhere
2. Reboot your phone to download mode.
To get download mode shut down the device. After it shuts off completely simultaneously press the Down volume key + press the power button.

}
You should see a warning asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, press volume up. You are now in download mode!
3. Start Odin
4. If your ROM is a single .tar.md5 package click on the PDA button and browse to the .tar or .tar.md5 file that you extracted in step 1 and select it. This should like like the image below.
If the package has more than one .tar archive then they will be labelled with PDA/Code, Phone/Modem and CSC. Just put them in the corresponding section of Odin like below.
5. DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.
Regardless of firmware version it's still the same methodology
6. Connect the USB cable and wait for any required drivers to install and the ID:COM section to turn blue like below
7. Click start to flash. If Odin hangs at setting up connection just unplug the USB cable and re-attach it, Odin should now resume
8. Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the device once the flash has started, it will reboot when it finishes.
If the firmware is from this thread it will not wipe your phone if you flash as recommended UNLESS I state that the firmware is a "WIPE" version.
A HEARTY THANK YOU is in order.
I never flashed or rooted anything for fear of bricking my unit. But your post gave me the confidence to try.
And it was simple and wildly successful.
Interestingly, I have a 6200L because it has a different antenna than a regular 6200 right? After flashing, I now have a 6200 but still get the same reception and speeds on the ATT network.
When Samsung finally gets around to "officially" updating my Tab, I will be able to do it via Kies, correct?
Yes, is correct...

I've connected my newly upgraded to ICS unit to Kies and it says that "Your Device does not support upgrading via Kies".
Kies obviously doesn't like the upgrade!
is it rooted? this is usually why.
maybe Kies just needs an update for your model no.
Nope not rooted. It was a stock 6200L

[Q] [VZW i815] Possible to root if starting point is *STOCK OTA ICS*?

I think I may be the one of the few people anywhere who may be in this situation, but thanks to help from Electron and others, my VZW Tab 7.7 actually followed the OTA progression of FD01 -> FH01 -> LP10 to go from a stock-but-rooted HC to a stock non-root ICS.
While I first thought this may be a fortunate turn of events, I now am wondering if this is the case, because I am having trouble finding a way to root it.
To be clear, my current situation is that I am post-ICS, and not rooted.
The root method specified in the 7.7 development forum doesn't seem to work - it fails on the signature check. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849235), and OTA Rootkeeper seems to be for those who were way smarter than me and caught it ahead of time.
Any suggestions for achieving root, or am I out of luck?
Thanks for any help!
Eric
Download necessary files:
Verizon 7.7 LTE drivers: http://electron73.org/XDA/i815/Verizon_Wireless_I815_Galaxy_Tab_USB_Driver_v1_4_7_0.msi
electron73's Odin pack: http://electron73.org/XDA/i815/electron_i815_odin_pack.zip
Root: http://www.mediafire.com/?x481a90591wdw0a
Make a folder on your desktop and extract the files there.
1. Install Verizon 7.7 LTE drivers
2. Put the root zip file on an external SD card, make sure your the SD card is inserted in the tab
3. Power down your tab
4. Boot into Odin mode by pressing power and volume up. Release power while still holding volume up when you see the samsung splash screen. You will be greeted with a warning dialog:

6. Open Odin 1.85
7. Load FD01_recovery.tar by clicking the PDA button and selecting the file from the folder you made on your desktop, make sure auto reboot is unchecked. It is very important that you choose PDA
8. Plug in your tab, your PC will probably install drivers if you have never used Odin and how up under ID:COM. Your tab will show up in Odin. your screen should look like this:
9. If odin looks exactly like the screen above, click start. Odin should display a green Pass! above ID:COM
10. Power down your tab.
11. Boot into recovery, you will see an android with an exclamation point triangle
12. Choose apply update from external storage using the volume keys to navigate.
13. Select Root_SuperSU.0.96.Only-signed.zip
14. Tab will install and reboot.
15. You now have root.
If you want to be completely stock, including ICS recovery, then follow steps 3 - 9 except use the LP01_recovery.tar instead of FD01_recovery.tar, then reboot your tab. thats it !
P.S electron i linked to your files, i hopw thats ok

You may have to flash the honeycomb recovery with Odin just to root, because I think the new ICS recovery will not install unsigned update. After you flash root, you can flash back to stock ICS recovery. This is just a guess I have not tried this.

If that is what is required I may be in a bad way.
Stupid VZW has not provided this variant with any stock firmware download - no HC and no ICS.
In my short-sightedness I didn't think to make a nandroid or CWM because up to now, I can't use any non-stock roms - I need the LTE as a part of the tablet.
Drat and double drat.

It should be easy to root your stock ics tab:
1. Download the root zip, place on external SD card in your tab
2. Put your tab in download mode, connect tab to pc and flash stock Honeycomb e3 recovery via PDA button in odin. Be sure to untick "auto-reboot" option.
3. Once odin finishes with a "Pass!" Power down your tab by holding power.
4. Boot into recovery by holding power+volume up, let go of the power button when the samsung logo appears while still holding volume up.
5. flash the root zip from external sd card in recovery.
6. You should be rooted now.

For Step 2 - the stock HC e3 recovery part - is this a file that I download from somewhere or is this something that I would (should) have at hand?
Sorry to be noobish, but I want to be sure I don't do something irreversible here...

Followed the steps and it worked. Rooted the LP11 ROM by flashing the FD01 recovery and then flashing the Select Root_SuperSU.0.96.Only-signed.zip from recovery.
Stickied this as it took me quite a long time to find. This is VERY useful for people with the Verizon model and stock ICS.
Can't find FD01
Does anyone have a link to the FD01 recovery image? I cannot find it anywhere. The links to the stock roms are broken. I've been trying to root my LP11 7.7 i815 for years now to no avail.
I appreciate any help.

Extract Firmware zip file that you downloaded already from above link, you will get a .tar file and some other files.
Extract Odin zip file and you will get Odin3 v3.07.exe along with few other files.
Power off your phone. Wait 5-6 seconds for vibration to confirm complete switch off.
Now, put the Galaxy Pocket Duos GT-S5302 phone in Download Mode by pressing pressing and holding down the Volume Down and Home buttons while pressing the Power button until you are welcomed by a green robot indicating you are in Download Mode.
Now run Odin3 v3.07.exe (see Step 2) as an Administrator because Admin privileges is required to complete the process smoothly.
Now connect your Galaxy Pocket Duos GT-S5302 with your PC using USB cable. A message will arrive under Odin’s message box in the bottom left saying “Added!!”. If you don’t get the same then you should try another USB port (try USB port located in back in your desktop PC). If that too don’t work then you should then reinstall the driver. If you successfully see the “Added!!” message in Odin then you are ready to go in next step. You should also see COM port with a number in Yellow if you successfully added your device.
Select these files in Odin at respective tabs from extracted S5302JPLH2 firmware folder :
Click the PDA Button, and select the .tar file here with *code* appearing in its name
Click the Phone Button, and select file with *modem* in its name (leave if there is no such file)
Click the CSC Button, and select file with *csc* in its name (leave if there is no such file)
Click the PIT Button, and select the .pit file. Use only if you got it while extracting in step 1 above, otherwise ignore it.
In Odin window, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time checkboxes are selected. Also, make sure that Re-Partition checkbox is selected, only if you are using a .pit file (see Step 7.4).
Double check everything that we mentioned in Step 7 & Step 8 above. Now, once satisfied hit the START button to begin the flashing process.
Once flashing completed, you will see a PASS message with green background in the left-most box at the very top of the Odin. The phone will then automatically rebooted and soon you will see the Samsung logo. You can then unplug the USB cable to disconnect your device from computer.
Congrats! Your Galaxy Pocket Duos, model number S5302 should now run on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread build JPLH2. Go to Settings > About phone to verify this firmware update.:good::good:

Here is a full guide on how to unroot and back to official stock firmware for Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 & GT-I9505. It is useful also if you soft brick your phone
!!!DONT TRY FIRMWARES OF OTHER VARIANTS!!!
Do it on your own responsibility! if you follow this guide properly u will be on the safe side

Before we proceed, make sure:
1-You have installed your Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500/5 USB drivers on your PC (the easiest way is to install Kies).
2-You need to enable USB debugging mode which is deactivated by default. (you can skip it )
3-Your S4 should have 70-80% charge remaining.
4-Your S4 should be factory unlocked. (for locked phone, flash carrier firmware to stay on warranty)
5-Backup your important data like Call logs, SMS and other data stored in phone memory in case if anything goes wrong, your data is not hurt.
6-Make sure that kies program is not running & disable antivirus.
This guide is only for Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 & GT-I9505. So don’t bother to try it on other devices.
How to do it:
Step 1) Turn OFF your mobile and go to Download Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home Buttons together for few seconds followed by Power button then proceed with volume up.
Step 2) Now open ODIN on your PC and connect your Galaxy S4 to your computer.
Step 3) Once your phone is successfully connected to your PC, the ID:COM box on ODIN will turn blue (or yellow) and will show the COM port number.
Step 4) unzip the downloaded firmware (from second or third post), u will get a Home.tar file.
Step 5) click on pda in odin (if odin 3.09 choose AP) and choose the file "Home.tar"
Step 6) check "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" options and make sure that "Re-Partition" is unchecked
!!!!DO NOT CHECK "Nand Erase All" IN ANY WAY!!!!
Step 7) Click on Start button in ODIN window to start the flashing process. The process will take few minutes to complete.
DO NOT UNPLUG USB CABLE WHILE EXECUTING THE PROCESS, YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE!
Step 8) When the installation is completed, you read a "Reset " then a "Pass". your phone will restart (first boot will take a longer time so don't panic)
It is recommended to make hard reset after flashing to have a fresh official firmware

Note 1: Personally, i prefer to wipe data and cache before and after flashing the firmware.
Note 2: If you have a corrupted partition table (Odin says: "there is no pit partition" or "Re-Partition operation failed"), flash pit file for your device (attached, dont forget to unzip it) (put it in pit window) with your firmware (some users reported that it worked without firmware), in this case "Re-Partition" must be marked.
Note 3: If you use pit file, and you had an encryption password for your data, the password will reset! so you must hard reset your phone after flashing with pit file with encrypted data.
Note 4: If you want, after rooting with odin, to get official status and reset binary counter ON I9505 for warranty reason, do it before flashing stock firmware, refer to HERE.(dont use triangle away on MGG and up firmwares till updating the app.)
Note 5: To change to the new CSC, just boot into recovery, wipe data and cache, reboot.
Note 6: If you flash I9500 stock firmware for China region, it will flash sboot.bin with it, that leads to have a Chinese bootloader (download mode will be in Chinese language and boot splash name will change). Even if you flash other stock firmware, it will not change the bootloader. So flash "GT-I9500_sboot.tar" (attached) as pda in Odin and it will fix the issue.
Odin troubleshooting: If Odin accidentally gives you "fail" try the following:
- Repeat procedure.

Bootloop troubleshooting: Bootloop occurs when a smartphone is not able to boot properly and stuck on Bootanimation and mainly caused by system files interfering with each others which cause instability and/or crash at the boot sequence. How to fix:
- Boot the device either into stock or custom recovery mode, wipe cache then reboot, if still, boot again in recovery and wipe data/factory reset then reboot. If not:
- Restore a nandroid backup with custom recovery if present. If not:
- Flash or reflash the official stock firmware. If not:
- Flash stock firmware with the appropriate pit file, after "pass", unplug usb cable, pull battery out for a minute, insert it, boot into recovery, wipe data and cache, reboot.
