I was able to flash cwm, I used instructions from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1668173, but here are the catch 22's I ran into
1) I had to turn on the Developer options menu per a google doc says it's disabled by default in 4.2.2, one goes to settings, about tablet then tap build number 7 times, them I turned on usb debug.
2) There was never any usb icon, after booting via power button + vol down, it says in small print something about starting fastboot ....., at this point I attached usb cable did fastboot devices and I got the serial num back
3) I just followed the other instructions, in the link posted above.
However, cwm does not work it boots into fine, but I get errors that say can't mount /cache/recovery/command, /cache/recovery/log several others, in addition any access to internal or external sd cards gives me can't mount /sdcare/ can't mount /emmc/, I'm stuck here. Going to try maybe a update cwm if there is one or maybe twrp, guessing at this point.
I did find this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850180, put it refers to 4.1.1 blob so I'm not sure what to do next. So far I've not found downloadable 4.2.1, from asus website
Hope someone has some ideas ???
One more note after update to 4.2.1 mine via ota, the hdmi out does not work correctly, resolution is stuck at 420p, and there have been reports of audio not working, so far assus just says factory reset. So I'm trying to flash cm 10.1 rom so i'm stuck at this point.

It's a shame how difficult it is to root this device after you've upgraded your firmware. It's a great tablet but the bloatware is really slowing it down.

Can explain how you did "fast boot devices", are you talking about the code you enter in cmd?

Fastboot Problem

Hey, I seem to be having a problem with my One X. Every time I boot into fastboot, and have it connected to my computer, it's not picked up.
I type in fastboot devices and there is nothing. However, when I boot up normally, and type adb devices it picks it up no problem.
I'm sorry if I'm lacking details, but I'm not sure how else to explain it.
Make sure fastboot is enabled in the >settings>power menu
Make sure when you boot into bootloader you then select bootloader from the menu options then wait for device screen to read-fastboot usb.

I've done all that, and well, whenever I get into the bootloader, I select bootloader and it does read "fastoot usb" but my desktop never seems to pick it up.
I appreciate the help though!

Yes I do, and I seem to have found the solution. It seems as though when I was using my USB 3.0 slots, it wasn't picking it up, but now I switched it over to one of the standard 2.0 ones, it does.
Occam's razor, I suppose. I feel quite dumb now. :silly:
Glad u figured it out. I believe this is common through all devices but i never remember. Im looking for an expansion card to get usb 2.0 atm:beer:

Not able to boot in recovery menu

Hey guys,
I hope I'm not missing something obvious because I spent the last 2 hours searching for a solution.
Today I decided to unlock and root my Motorola Xoom 3G (EU-version, stock-android 4.x).
I unlocked it using fastboot and flashed the CWM recovery. But when I try to enter the recovery menu by pressing volume down when the Motorola logo apperas, it just says "Reading ODM fuse: 1". After that, it shows me a picture with an red exclamation mark.
I have no idea what to do now. Since I have no ADB access, I'm not able to do a "adb reboot bootloader" to flash CWM again.
Do you guys have any clue what's the matter? Thanks in advance
prisoner627
im assuming your xoom still boots up? if so youll still be able to get adb to work, just try flashing cwm again , you can also get fastboot working by turning the xoom on once you see the motorola logo count to 3 then press volume up and itll start fastboot protocol support
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Right, I forgot. It still boots up but I can't get through the lockscreen. There's a message saying "device not ready. please enter a valid sim card".
right unfortunately i cant help with regards to sim card error as i own the wifi only model but someone a bit more knowledge able will see this and may have the answer
have you tried putting a sim card in? what does it say if you put one in?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Alright, I didn't mind the branding. With a T-Mobile card, I am able to enter the PIN and use the Xoom as usual.
Before I really mess up, can you tell me what to do next? Unfortunately, I don't have a micro sd card here so I am not able to do the "Universal Xoom Root" ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242241 ).
ok so youve unlocked the bootloader using fastboot oem unlock?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Yup, unlocked it is.
ok next step is to push recovery via adb have you tried doing that again?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
recovery via ADB? I tried the CWM recovery image via fastboot last time ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979 ).
yea you connect your xoom to pc let it connect etc etc, then open a command prompt in same folder where your adb files are located then type
adb reboot bootloader
once rebooted into bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery ( name of recovery here)
make sure youve downloaded the recovery image and not the zip file
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Alright I did everything, no errors. But when I boot into the recovery, I still get "Reading ODM fuse: 1" and the exclamation mark...
try a different recovery perhaps? theres a few on here ill see if i can find one i used and post link
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Yes I already thought of using the recovery of Team Rogue but it comes as a zip file, so I can't flash it, right?
cant flash it without entering recovery, im not sure what cauaing the problem , when you hold the power button and you get shutdown reboot etc if you press reboot do you get a second set of option ?? reboot, recovery bootloader etc?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
You mean pressing the power button in normal usage, on the homescreen? I only get to decide whether I want to shut down the device or not. But this wasn't different before I started "flashing".
aah ok must be the rom im on thats got it , im not really sure where to go from here maybe do a factory reset and try again youve unlocked your bootloader though so dnt need to do that again
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Same error with a factory reset... damn whats going on?
i honestly domt know i never had any probs doing mine and i asked my friendmwho has same xoom as you and he never had any trouble so kinda got me stumped lol

Guess I'll have to wait until someones bringing the big hint But I really thank you for your time. Since I know now that my device isn't completely bricked, you helped me a lot.
not a problem glad i could help even if a little lol

Infinity won't boot after reboot into recovery.

I was on bb4 Rom, and tried to reboot into recovery to flash the official jelly bean, but now I get no output on the screen. I can use various combinations of the buttons, and it will vibrate, but won't boot. Can anyone help?

If you don't have fastboot or adb working there's not much to do for your device.... sorry mate. At least other two users had the same issue lately, i wonder what's causing it.
oh good...
what would be the combination to boot into fastboot? i wander if its possible to get into it, and just the screen is not working during boot?

To get in fastboot mode press Volume down + Power and release the buttons when the white text message, you have about having 5 second to press Volume Up shows...if this work you will get to a menu with the "USB icon" which means boot in fastboot mode.
Thanks, couldn't remember which buttons or was, different from my phone XD
Unfortunately I get nothing but vibration from the tablet. Bricked?

I had .30 stock & flashed a copy of the JB OTA via TWRP.
I did a full wipe (everything except SD cards (so I thought)
Somehow my micro SD card was wiped, but not the Dock SD card.
Want to guess where my TWRP back up copies were?
I boot flashed TWRP again but it doesn't appear to work with JB yet.
(doesn't see any files on any sd cards).
Next thing I'm going to try to do is fastboot a copy of the .30 blob.
I'm checking out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1803343 but it appears that process is dated.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
I have tried various things to fix this, tried booting fastboot, adb etc, but to no success. Can anyone help? I've never seen a problem be too much for xda XD
update: so the device appears too have been on last night, as the battery was dead (no vibration when power button held), I plugged it in, got a vibration to say it's charging. Could it be the screen is actually broken, as in a hardware fault, just with coincidental timing that I was trying to get into recovery?
Thanks

[Q] My friends phone is bootlooped. We can't access recovery.

My friend installed 3e recovery. He later installed CWM. He did a backup, wiped data, dalvic cache, and he also formatted /system. He forgot to plug in the SD card with the ROM zip file, and after rebooting he can no longer access recovery. It just sits on the Samsung screen. Using "adb reboot recovery" makes the phone reboot, but it's still stuck. I'm dont know much about adb, but it will not let us push any files onto the phone.
Edit: When we try going in recovery (holding vol+/- and power) Samsung logo keeps blinking on and off.
Your best bet would be to return to stock, install a custom kernel, copy the file over, and flash after wiping

How do i do that without the ability to go in recovery? When i do Samsung screen keeps turning on and off.
Download a return-to-stock package, and go to download mode
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
i'll start the old Google to figure out what and how, but if you have the time can you explain this to me like i'm an idiot?
I did this and nothing changed: http://www.justanswer.com/android-devices/6k5fd-tried-upgrade-samsung-infuse-using-kies-mini.html
Also ADB is having hard time seeing the device. I got it to list the device once. And one more thing, I have to got o work now, but I'll be back in 4-5 hours (around 10pm central time)
Thank you in advance.
Ok now I have a new problem. When I put the phone in download mode i hear the "USB device plugged it" sound but Odin will not recognize the phone.
Edit: I believe that i have the drivers installed.
Which drivers? Heimdall or Odin?

OK, odin is working on the laptop. I'll update when it's done.
ALRIGHT It's fixed!! Thank you for getting me on the right track.
No problem, glad I could help

One Mini stuck in the bootloader

I tried to turn on my phone and it goes straight to the bootloader. Its not in a boot loop. but in the bootloader (*** unlocked ***) at the top. Choosing factory reset and recovery only brings me back to the bootloader. Fastboot doesn't recognize the USB. Need help.

if you don't care about your data, just run the RUU.exe for you device, but make sure you install the drivers from HTC first.

fastboot says "fastboot usb" but Adb devices and fastboot devices show nothing. whats happening is that even if i choose to power down in the fastboot menu on the phone, it will boot back up on its own, into the bootloader. I am able to boot to the OS if i am lucky by hard powering off (holding the power button), then letting go of the power button, and at a precise moment pressing the power button.
I've had the same problem, what i did was put my pc a few weeks back using recovery points. Then i was able to use fastboot again. After that flash a stock boot.img trough fastboot. My phone started up again.
