[Q] Same root method for Memo Pad Smart 10? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Better thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153331
I know this is in the wrong section, but I couldn't find a section for the Memo Pad Smart 10 so I'm asking here as the TF300 seems to have almost identical specs.
First off, I only needed a light duty tablet, I have a GNoteII for my phone so I'm not in need of an expensive powerhouse of a tablet as I only wanted a larger screen for some traveling stuff and what not.
But I would like to be able to root and unlock the bootloader on my new tablet once I get it. But I wasn't sure if there was such a thing already in the works, where I could look for it if it is, or if I could somehow help out by providing data from the device when it arrives at my house tomorrow.
If any Dev's out there wanted info from me I'd be happy to help out as much as I can. I'm by no means capable of doing it myself, but I know how ADB works and such so I would be willing to help.
TIA.

Hey guys, I'm still searching for the original OTG adapter, does anyone mind ti sell his, to me?

how to root the asus memo pad me301t
Hey I was on Toshiba forums and they have a root method. By using motocrunch not the bootloader aspect just the root you can gain root that way. The original link to the convo is http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...est-rooting-guide-me301t-android-4-1-1-a.html

It doesn't come with one or at least mine didn't just buy one from ebay I got one from there for less than $2
Oh and mine says there was another system update available yesterday but I'm reluctant to install it.I already got the 4.2.1 update does anyone know if the new update will remove root.

It probably will. Others have had luck restoring root using voodoo ota root keeper. I didn't.
But motochopper rooted me again after the 4.2.1 update.
I'll check for updates when I get home and let you know.

is anyone having any audio playback issues with their memo pad?
when streaming HD video from iPlayer or youtube etc, the audio is out of sync for me, which is really annoying!

Another thread has all the up to date in to on root and bootloader unlock for this device.
I'm going to close this one and link to the other here and in the OP.

[Q] Xoom Family

Quick question... Is everything in here compatible with the new Xoom Family available in Best Buy?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Motorol...909487&skuId=3639159&st=xoom family&cp=1&lp=1
I'm not quite sure what the difference is between the original one and the new Family edition, that's why I ask... I don't want to risk bricking my new Xoom
Almost certainly nothing for the original Xoom will work for the Family Media Edition (F-ME for short). This is due to different battery specs. Somebody that is feeling brave/stupid can try to prove me wrong.
the only difference i see is different chassis and the Family edition has an HD IPS screen. which i want to know if it would be possible to replace the hd screen i have with the family edition IPS one.

adb reboot-bootloader can't find device. It appears that adb has been disabled. Turning on with pwr-volUp results in device being seen as needing apx drivers when connected via USB. I'm out of my league with nvflash...

Enabling adb should be a piece of cake after we gain root... My Xoom still doesn't arrive, I'll get it by Friday... I've been thinking; most of the root methods are based on Rage against the cage, I even remember an APK that after installation it rebooted the phone and the phone was rooted... I also realized that having a locked bootloader isn't guarantee that root isn't achievable, 3 months passed before the Atrix 4G's bootloader was unlocked and still we got root before it happened.
I just need to know where to look and I'll do it.

Would you please at least open it and get some Hi Def pictures from inside ?
Many of us are interested about the new IPS screen from this version eventually.
If we will be able to find the manufacturer and read the specs maybe a replacement for our "original" screen will make us the happier Xoom owners ever.

Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus

Just received my 7 Plus wifi. So far I like it, although there doesnt seem to be a lot of interest from xda or other forums. Since it was just released today, I suppose I need to be a bit patient. This is the closest forum so I am adding this post here.
I really need a root and adhoc fix so I can use it with my ET4G and sell my ipad!. Also I want to hide the status bar. I may dig into it attempting the 10.1 or 8.9 root, but I have a bit of reading to do on it first.

I ordered it expecting it in about 10 more days or so. Lo and behold I got a shipping notice yesterday.
I have read that it uses the tegra2 processor, but I see no evidence of that. And now I attempt to find it on the web and it is nowhere to be seen.
I will definitely work on getting a system dump tonight after work. I might ask for some help onthis.

Thanks, I like it, but I hope development catches on like the acer iconia a100. I would have liked to opt for the 7.7, but I read its not coming to the states and the pricetag will likely be heftier.
I bought it thinking it had a tegra2 but was elated to find it has the exynos.
I think, if I weren't already awaiting the HD SAMOLED+ awesomeness of the 7.7" tab, I'd probably sell my 8.9 now and get a 7 Plus. I've been saying all along that the Exynos is a beast. Tegra2 is a huge disappointment for me...
P.S. I've seen preorders from Expansys and Mobile City of ~$600 - 700 for the 7.7 import. Have my 3G 7.7 preordered now from Expansys. Oh baby! Can't wait!

When are we getting the bootloader unlocking tool?

I'm sure its a little pre-mature since it just came out here in the U.S. yesterday but, has anyone heard anything about the tf700 getting the bootloader unlocking tool? My tf700 is on its way here now, and all thought I'm sure its great stock, I have to have my custom rom's.

I remember the Prime got it in about a month. The forums were flipping out though, they couldn't handle not having it yet, so Asus put it out there.
I came here to ask if the bootloader is locked. This makes me sad. I'm not willing to lose my hardware warranty to flash roms. This, plus the lack of micro-usb and the use of nvidia will force me to buy something else.
It's a shame, the tablet is amazing in every other way.

His issue is more that the warranty is voided than it shipping locked. To which I agree with him, but its not a dealbreaker since literally the only devices that DONT do that are the Nexus devices.

If your willing to spend a extra $60, buy a squaretrade warranty for two years. Everything is covered, even if you drop it in a pool. On something this expensive, $60 for two years of awesome insurance is pretty cheap. They don't mind a unlocked bootloader either.
ASUS's statement is that you MAY lose your warranty after doing this, not that you WILL. In this respect they don't diverge much from HTC or - I believe - Samsung (not that I'm ASUS's fanboy, just saying). Search xda forums, there was a bunch of people who got their Primes fixed on warranty's conditions after unlocking, rooting and going into a bootloop.
I have never seen a confirmed case of a mfr denying hardware warranty for rooting, unlocking or flashing roms. I've returned/rma'd several defective devices with one or more of those attributes. Now if you brick it flashing then all bets are off.
Also, so you don't like nvidia, cant live with propritary usb connector(micro usb can't charge this baby anyway), and cant deal with unlocking bootloader. Just exactly what tablet are you going to buy that doesnt have any of those issues and isn't 49.99 from china?
Microusb charges tablets just fine. My touch pad, for example, has it.

Like everyone is saying, You can still get warranty service for hardware issues even if your unlocked. The only downside to unlocking is ASUS won't give your tablet OTA updates, but you can still download and flash the firmware from the asus support website. And chances are if you're unlocked, you're not using the stock firmware.
I think asus has to use their own proprietary plug that to make it work with the dock. You are still given a cable which plugs into your transformer on one end and into a usb port on the other end, so so lack of microusb is really a non-issue.
Don't understand what's wrong with Nvidia, most of the issues so far seem to be software related. Tegra also comes with some nice bells and whistles.

I assume the power throughput needed to charge the two relatively large batteries at once pretty much excludes microUSB charging cables (which use standardized maximum power on the pins). For smaller battery capacity, less-capable tablets, such as, with all respect, your TouchPad, it's indeed fine. What are you waiting for, if I may ask? Till, somewhere, somehow, ASUS decides to heed your lonely call for microUSB and ditches it on newer iterations (or units) of the Infinity? Just kidding, obviously, but the question still stand, especially when you couple it to the (pretty much sure-fire near-)future availability of the unlocked bootloader.

Sorry but that is incorrect. The Asus warning and agreement is very clear on this. If you unlock your bootloader they basically have nothing for you what so ever. Hardware included.

I know the warning says otherwise, but people have still managed to get their ulocked transformers fixed. Either asus has somehow decided to still do hardware repairs, or the warranty centers put off checking the devices. I personally wouldn't count on it. Make sure your transformer is issue free before unlocking, and don't send it in just because you bricked it.(which shouldn't be possible unless you tried to overwrite the bootloader and lost fastboot)
I'm just saying the odds are if your unlocked, you're still going to get warranty service.
---noob warning---
Since no bootloader unlocking tool is available, does that mean I can't even flash a stock rom?

Thanks for your reply, and for the write-up you did in the other thread.
I had already read it when I posted here but it isn't clear to me - probably my bad, I'm used to flashing my Samsung Galaxy S (1&3) but I've never done it on a tablet and it seems different. I haven't found any clear instructions on doing so for the TPI.
I get that you used SuperCharger V6, it didn't work and froze up your tablet, then you got it to work as you described.
So, I don't know if I still need to use SuperCharger (which from what I gather is not a modified rom??) or just copy the files you mentioned to the SDcard, and once the files are copied how to get to recovery mode and if root is even required :s
I'm very sorry if these things seem obvious to you all, but the TPI forum is still a bit empty and I couldn't find this info here. Don't even know if what works for the Prime will work for Infinity so I'm not sure I should go digging there as well.

[q] asus me171

Why can not I find anything about root, the Asus tablet me171? Is it really a tablet unrootable

No one really bought the ME171. It wasn't released in many countries and it was outrageously overpriced for a device that wasn't that good or didn't offer anything too great to begin with. I'm not really sure what Asus was thinking when they released that device. Unfortunately, you're going to have a really hard time finding information about that decide.

I never geek out over phones the way I have been jacked up over this device. I bought it after pocket-testing a Nexus 7, I always carry my phone in my back pocket, and its a snug fit. I am 5' 7" 145lbs so I can sit on my phone you fat-asses. In order of importance, making
calls is fourth or fifth on my list of things my phone must do, so I think having a jumbo phone wont bother me (too much). I am headed out of town for the weekend and will post more if I think its relevant.
I GOT AT LEAST $50 TOWARDS THE COST OF A DEVICE FOR A DEVELOPER.
Pic is Fonepad v Note II v GS3. I would put an iphone if I had one lol.
Well i too ha e just bought the fonepad, such a great device for the price. I bought it for RM699. About $230 i think.
There's lots of 7" tablet with phone capability here in asia, so its not weird at all taking call from it. I guess. I mean even cute girls does it.

Also got mine weeks ago. Good build and battery life.
but some cons:
1. not an outdoor type tablet especially under direct sun, brightness not enough.
2. asus bundled keyboard are a joke, switch to android keyboard.
3. no root (yet) and seems a bit challenging to hack since its x86 cpu.
other than that its a great everyday phablet. Asians value practical than style. But using big phone can be hip too if more people doing it. :good:
its just great

its the best device ever....
I also just got my Fonepad, its only been a couple days and I love it, most of the bloatware can be disabled and so far it does everything I could want, and then some. A root would just be the cherry on top. Im also willing to buy future devs for this phablet some dinners as well.
I'm surprised it's not much more expensive than the Nexus 7 with mobile data, which some have used for phone calls:
androidpolice.com/2013/01/05/an-experiment-my-life-with-a-nexus-7-as-my-phone/
I've had my fonepad for about a fortnight now and I'm still loving it. It replaced my viewsonic viewpad 7 FroYo phone/tablet which was starting to show its age.
I use my fonepad as my primary phone via Bluetooth and despite a few niggles I'm very pleased with it. Most of my issues may be caused by my launcher (Apex) and are as follows:
1) minor crackling noises when browsing etcetera, whilst in a call (using Bluetooth)
2) The unlock screen shows upside-down (ie right to left rather than left to right when I turn on my screen) for a second or so - I should point out that I'm in permanent landscape mode.
3) The lack of root! (Mainly for clockwork mod, titanium, tasker, cryptonite)
4) Lack of rear camera (yeah, I'm using a UK model)
5) Lack of a case! Fortunately there's one due for release on the 30th.
Those niggles aside, my advice to anyone considering this tablet/phone (I refuse to use the word "Phablet") is to grab it quick, at the price it's unbeatable!

Hi Guys,
I got my fonepad 5 days ago and pretty happy with it.
I push 8 gb sd card into device and in the beginning all working ok. Then I (maybe) change something in settings that Asus don't recognize SD Card anymore. I can just hear music from SD card but files for UCCW or wallpapers could not be read.
I tried about all but cannot see any progress. Do someone know how to get it work again?
Thank you
speaker volume?
How is the loudspeaker volume? A couple of reviews said that it was satisfactory for voice calls and another said that it was rather muted, especially when playing music.

What case is coming out on the 30th? Do you have a link to the info.
I have had mine nearly 2 weeks and I like it much more than my old galaxy note, though the screen is really a smudge magnet.

Regretfully I was to quick. Flashplayer still doesn't work.
Don't know why Asus make it not workable for all.
Here is a Petition for Asus to unlock the bootloader for our device like they did with some other android tablets they made.

Someone made a separate benchmark ARM vs x86.
Made a post about his method here.
