I was using my phone for tethering following this post and it was working great.
Today in order to install the Mango Beta update I did a reset on my phone so that the backup step would be faster.
But I forgot to switch back my phone from "HTC Modem" mode to "Zune Sync" mode.
Now it just wont connect to the computer. I cannot install the same XAP file to enable the "Zune Sync" mode as the phone is not dev unlocked (it was dev unlocked before reset).
Now the phone is just recognized as a modem on my machine and Zune just won't recognize it.
I have searched google and the XDA forums but could not find any solution to this issue.
Any pointers to fix this issue will be greatly appreciated.
H8 to say it, but I think you are screwed because u can't unlock your phone. Talk to your carrier, make it seem like you are innocent, ask for a replacement and cross your fingers.
I am sorry

Have you tried reset via diagnosis menu?
Dial ##634# to get in Diagnostic mode and *2767*3855# to do a full reset.
After changing some settings in my omnia, it wouldn't connect to 3g, no matter what I did. I flashed roms, updates, did a reset via settings menu, called my mobile operator... today I did this reset and the phone wen't back to normal, so I assume that this reset is "harder" then the other

Tried this, its just for samsung decives. I could not find the Diagnostic code for HTC phones. Thanks for your answer.
Found the following on this thread:
Call ##634#
From the new debugging menu, enter: *#7284#
You see three options come up: Zune, Modem Tethered Call, Modem Diagnostic.
Then its easy to switch to Zune mode. But the problem is it just works on Samsung phones. I am not sure what the Diagnosis code for HD7 is. I have searched everywhere
I am not sure if I can call t-mobile for help as I had unlocked my phone and moved to another carrier.

Act all innocent and just say you have no idea why it won't update, tried on different friend's computers etc. Dont mention it's been unlocked as they will never find out how. However the replacement phone wont be unlocked so you'll have to unlock it again.
When I bought my Toshiba TG01 on Orange, I NEVER put an orange sim card into it, I used it with my O2 sim and I had it returned when it was 11 months

Hi there!
I just bought a SE Xperia x8. It was Locked to 3 uk.
I used a unlock online service to unlock it. Did everything right as it was in the unlocking manual. But in the end of the process the software Multi unlocking client frozed. The know the mobile doessn't recognize any sim card.
In the hiden menu the X on the network lock is not there anymore as it was unlocked.
And when I try to connect to a network the message I get is "Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"
I rooted it changed roms and the problem persists
Can anyone help me?
The Online unlocking service wants me to by more credits and try again....
Have the same problem... any fix for this?
I just opened my own thread for exactly the same thing last night - did either of you have any luck getting this fixed?
Oh God, I remember MultiUnlocker from my Palm Pre days. What a horrid piece of software it is.
I'd recommend contacting their support division and outlining your problem. I was able to gain the necessary three credits to unlock my phone (stupid bloody thing took that many goes).
It may prove problematic that your phone is kinda 'in limbo' ie. showing unlocked but not. You should be able to input a code from the emergency dialler giving you access to the engineering menu, which will allow you to re-lock your phone, then the code should work.
I'll subscribe to the thread in case you need further advice!
Hi there,
I am having difficulty unlocking my new (UK) galaxy S2 and I figured this is the best place to ask for help. I have searched the threads on this forum and have not been able to find the answers I need. So I'm starting a new thread.
I have rooted the phone successfully and followed the instructions with the chainfire app and when it finished it said it couldn't find the unlock code. The phone came from Virgin as part of a contract, however the contract has been cancelled and I don’t have a virgin sim any more so I haven’t actually tried it with the virgin network. It might be worth mentioning here that when I put a different sim card in it the screen that pops up asking for the unlock code isn't there. I have also completed the procedure with the “galaxy S Unlock” app created by Helroz and that was also unsuccessful. Because the three steps in "galaxy S unlock" were unsuccessful I have restored the efs folder back to its original state. I have not bothered to try the manual method of recovering the unlock code using the hex editor because after reading this forum it seemed unlikely to work and it looked like a bit of a hassle.
I have tried several sim cards in the phone that work with my friend’s phone. And my phone was unable to connect to any networks. Except, when I tried my friends T-Mobile contract sim card I connected to the T-mobile network but my phone wouldn't allow out going or incoming calls however the data network worked fine! Yes the internet was working through the t-mobile network (wifi was turned off)
Isn't that weird!!!! So it kind of looks like the phone might be being blocked by the service provider but I find that very unlikely because up until a couple of days ago the phone was sealed in its box.
I have read through most of the "[HOWTO] GT-I9100 Free SIM Unlock via nv_data.bin by Odia" thread and there is some mention of a new locking technique employed by the various phone network companies. Does my problem sound like it could fall in to that category??
It might also be worth mentioning that I took the phone to a phone shop to see if they could unlock it. They couldn't, but the guy did check the IMEI number on a website called checkmend.com and that site reported: "checkmend has a record of this item having been blocked by a cell phone network" and "checkmend has a record that this item is currently blocked by one or more cell phone networks". Does anyone know anything about this website and weather it is reliable or not. Like I say I find it extremely unlikely that it has been blocked because I have only just got it out of the sealed box.
I am very frustrated as you can all imagine and I would really appreciate some help. Feel free to ask any questions, I am a bit of a noob but I'm not completely incompitent so don't be afraid to get technical.
Thank you for listening,
Yours,
Dardarland.
Bump...
I'm having kind of the same trouble here...
I tried the Chainfire's app and it couldn't find my code, so i went and tried the Helroz App
after following the instructiones in the app and checking with *#7465625# it changed network block to OFF... but when i inserted a diff carrier sim it said: network block... and now my other carrier sim got blocked and won't get recognized by the phone it used to be in... LOL
pls help us both!!
Unlocking
Hi
I did have the same problems with the chainfire app
what i did is use Galaxy_S Unlock (google it as I can not post links at the moment)
Also you will need to install busybox for this to work.
just search for busybox in market and install the first app that comes up
Hope it works

Hi fjaraiza,
I saw somewhere in the forum guys that were having similar problems due to the carrier branded rom they had on the phone and due to helroz method which is far more intrusive than odia's. Helroz is flipping bits within nv_data.bin which might lead to corruption. The success of Helroz's method also depends on the phone protection method, some newer versions check the correspondent md5 and ignore the file if it's not the right one.
Your best bet would be to restore an /efs backup if you have one or backup the current state of /efs and try another rom.
Good luck,
Stefan.
P.S.: use thanks when the supplied information is useful
can unlock the messed up ones for a lil fee, pm
Helroz unlocks but then locks again...
Hi all, I've got a weird problem. I used Helroz SIM unlocker on my SGS2 (Im running the latest CM9 build 28/8) and it works. Helroz unlocks the phone but only for about 1-2h?! After about 1-2h the phone has lost NW connection and ask for the SIM unlock code. If I press 'dismiss' then I can run Helroz unlocker again and it will be ok for 1-2h and then loose the unlock again... Has anyone had this problem? Before I used a stock Samsung ROM and then Helroz unlocker worked perfectly, its since I've moved to CM9 ROM that I'm having this issue. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance

This worked like magic, but i can i now uninstall the busybox as i dont need it or do i have to keep it on my phone to have it unlocked?
same pronblem
i unlocked my phone using "samsung galaxy unlock" when it was on gingerbread. then i updated it to jelly bean using cm10.2 & after that when i switched it on it says "Enter sim unlock code". i used the same app again but did't get any benefit. also tried few other apps but failed. now when i put the 3 network (the original carrier) it do same with that as well. somebody tell me what to do?
I just had 4 sideloaded programs on my 7 pro revoked
I've interop-unlocked my my phone since 1 year ago and updated to 8107 quite sometime ago
What's going on?? Anyone encountering this too? Or is this a signal for me to go full unlock?

They can relock your phone if the proper values aren't set to prevent it in the registry. Most of the interop unlock methods now include this as part of the unlock.

that's what I thought too, but fact is that my phone is now locked
I've had it on interop-unlock for more than a year, survived the upgrade to mango and all the updates but I just got locked
Oh man FML
Somewhere on this forum GDTD once mentioned he had a relock and it seemed to occur when his Zune Pass expired and he had forgot to renew it (or something like that). When he did the phone relocked (and he definitely knows how to set the reg to prevent relock). Did you have your Zune Pass expire or you added one?
Seriously MS needs to stop this already, what is wrong with us wanting more acent colors or using custom alert sounds? If they didn't want anyone hacking or moding then give it to us. Honestly this is one of many things that is turning most away from the platform. What they should focus on is things like getting freakin' AT&T and Verizon to release the keyboard issue update.

Nope I dont have Zune pass
What is so weird is that I have already set the reg to prevent relock all the way back to pre-nodo and it is still able to lock itself up.
Thanks though, maybe I'll go flash a rom for a full unlock
Can those roms still receive official updates?
*edit: I'm at work now, so it's a little inconvenient for me to do a search, but did GDTD find a fix?
He just unlocked again. If you have Dev unlock/Chevron and use Heathcliff's method just do it again. If you were unlocked from back to NoDo, the prevent unlock reg edit probably didn't stay along the way at some point. It is too hard to figure out your exact situation without knowing your history and phone details.
P.S. Outside of your situation, the only other one I have seen where a relock occurred was the Zune Pass situation. Here is the thread;

Oh, and as far as the full-unlocked ROMs, they are all custom and I don't think they accept official updates anymore (you have to wait for the custom rom cook to brew a new one with the latest).

I'll try a restore when I get home (think I have a pre 8107) copy
I read that 8107 prevents writing to the registry now, so I'm not sure how I'm going to do an interop-unlock
Thanks guys for the help. It seems I'll have to get through the day with 4 blank tiles on my home screen (can't even do a soft reset wtf!)

8107 itself does not block interop-unlock or reg edit abilities. But if you update to the latest OEM drivers it is the drivers that do. I have 8107 but have not allowed HTC's latest driver updates - v2 ones (and Samsung has new drivers that wreak it as well I think called KK2). Good luck and don't let the latest drivers update (and if you want 8107 push it with Heathcliff's CAB method).
Thanks
Will try it when I get home
Another thread with a relock occurring; need to keep an eye on this.

Question 1 - did everyone that had a relock connect to Zune on the PC just prior?
Question 2 - if not, did you connect to anything MS related on your phone (Marketplace, XBOX Games)?
I guess it is possible if you make a connection to a MS server and it sees you are a WP it could do a probe.
i just did a restore to a working backup (twice actually) and it's not working anymore
yes, my last action before this **** happened was to sync to zune
i don't have zune pass, disabled xbox live logins, applied all the necessary tweaks (since pre-nodo) to prevent a relock but this still happened
*edit
it's not working anymore = the unlock (dev-unlock, interop-unlock) are not working anymore
all my apps, other than those installed through marketplace, got revoked
Since Zune seems to be the source of the problem try restoring your backup with your internet connection on your pc turned off.
will try that when I get him tonight (like 12 hours later)
It seems like the battery status app was working for a while cos it got updated. Will try restoring without sim+internet tonight
And what's this thing about the phone relocking after a year? I don't exactly remember when did I unlock, but it's roughly around this period last year
How did you do the unlock?

original chevron from pre-nodo
I use an actual Dev license to keep my device unlocked (seriously....its $100 a year...a small price to pay to have a legitimately unlocked phone...plus I actually develop and release apps and games for a livingt)
Back on topic, my phone "relocked" itself recently. apparantly, MS has a "lease" of sorts that it issues on locked devices for developers and this "lease" expires after a year. I had remove my device from the list of registered devices and re-register it to renew the lease on the phone to unlock it.
Even though from wp7 root tools site it says samsung focus 2 even wp7.8 is on the list but im having issues with getting it unlocked. i can get to the wireless manager app part but when i go to switch connections i only get 3g and 4g. even though i switch those i cant send a .xap file or even with method 2 i dont get a different menu. but after i reset my phone my data doesnt work unless i factory reset. so ive been wondering if its not available for my phone. ive been asking around but no answers. you guys helped out with the nook lets see if you guys can help with the phone.
OS:7.10.8862.144 (WP7.8)
