OTA - over the air. That's a way of getting updates that come officially.
You can check for it under settings > about phone > software update.
It will ask you to download it ( will be around 300mb). Download it and say apply. It will reboot, do some crazy stuff and update the phone to ics. No data will be lost. Make sure you do it with a good amount of battery left.

Find the right file for your phone / region from this thread And flash it via RSD. Are you sure it isn't att? (Does it have the att logo on the body?) Cuz there are different files for that.

Yah Tel em.
this is what my phone says:
system version: 5.1.270.mb865.Latam.en.01
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband version: 2012-01-20 19:57 off.bid

webtop version: WT-1.3.0-176_1_ES

idk if this is helpful in any way at all because i was thinking to use one of the files from this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934874) to install the ICS but i wasn't sure if it would mess my phone up

You should flash the correct files according to your region/phone . You shouldn't flash any other file.

Here is where all the FXZ files are, and from what it looks like on this site, there is no ICS update for the LATM retail release:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
That being the case, there is really not much you can do, you can try one of the other non-att firmwares, but I am guessing that might be a bad idea, as it may hardbrick your phone, as we have seen that with the AT&T branded USA phones, when trying to flash non-supported firmware.
Sorry to say it, but none on of the latin america phones appear to have support for firmware after 2.3.6.

No. It is an edify type update that contains a PD98IMG type update inside (called firmware.zip).
Even though it is an edify type update, it won't install from recovery unless you hack out some of the ASSERT checks (since recovery doesn't have all the getprop values that a running system has).
Would it be possible to pull the information from the update part, and convert it to a hbkot update.
Just curious, if we were able to, id post it in the guide for easy reference.

You're doing it wrong somehow then because that is exactly how you do it on the Inspire. Make sure fastboot is off in the settings though (Settings->power->fast boot).

Not really. This update contains a number of "patch" files that use a method of updating files in-place by applying a patch that just replaces the parts of the file that changed. It's like a diff file is for text files, but it's binary. The only way I know of to apply these is through edify commands (or manually patching them on a PC first with bsdiff, see: http://linux.die.net/man/1/bsdiff).

First you need to root it using one click root in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18942700
Then you just need the atrix 2 bootstrapper apk. Download it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346977
Then you simply reboot into recovery and select backup. Let it finish. Reboot back into phone.plug in usb to your pc and mount.then just find the clockworkmod folder on sdcard. Open it.then open backup folder.then open the folder there which will be a bunch of numbers. Finally youll see some files.the "system.ext.tar" is the file i need.just copy it to your computer anywhere and upload onto rapidshare or filedropper.

Once we get it I would not recommend flashing it in fastboot. To begin with, if you flashed the whole thing and it worked then you might never be able to flash back to GB or update to final ICS. However I highly doubt that it would flash due to partition signature differences...
If it's in a ROM.zip format then I would flash it but be wary... make sure that it's rooted (search in /system/bin and /system/xbin for "su") because we might not be able to root this firmware.

DON'T MESS WITH THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, ESPECIALLY WITH AT&T PHONES
I'm Starting this as a general thread for all our ICS work now that we got our first few leaks. Please Hold off on screwing with this stuff without knowing what you are doing as there is risk involved. If you are interested in helping out or learning more about the risks please reply to this thread or send a PM to on of our devs. Below is some general info of what we have so far that will be updated as I and others learn more.
1. We have a leak of seemingly working ICS for the ME865 used internationally. Some stuff from it may be useful, but not extremely as we mainly focus on MB865 here.
2. We have a leak of ICS for The MB865 MEARET that is used internationally. it will flash on phones that support that firmware. It will not work on AT&T phones as is. We are working towards getting what we need from it to make it work in some way.
One of the main focuses now is going to be to pull what we need from these to get CM9 or AOKP working. with the radio drivers and kernels, we should be able to get something working very soon. (and by that I mean a while, if you have been on her a while, you should know that! )
Devs or others, please tell me anything you want added. while I like to keep things in the open forums, PM may be a good Idea to keep things from being to crazy around here with people (including me) so eager.

I would not recommend saying there is a chance it could work on at&t .its not possible without our own ics mb865 kernel (which would require a mb865 ics leak) first and youre gonna help brick alot of novice users phones. You should definitely state with big letters in red "do not try this if you have an at&t mb865 phone"
It would help spare us of a thousand new threads with newcomers freaking out asking for help in the dev section because they decided to try and flash me865 firmware/kernel on their mb865 not to mention the thousand pms youll receive

Probably not as the ICS you guys have is a leaked. But... this could help you find a newer ICS build, maybe with the unlockable boot loader.

Yup. Same here.. reboots to stock recovery.. but I have the old cheesecake installed also - may be an issue?

In the installation notes it says do a factory reset when it boots in to recovery... so, it's apparently supposed to boot in to recovery.. I just didn't want to wipe my data today :\
Is meant to reboot into cwm recovery. But because of the way the device is hacked is rebooting into the stock recovery. Simply leave the recovery and relaunch into the cwm recovery of your choice.
The previous cheesecake app only function for one device. It was not properly adjusting the settings. This app uses a device recognition system to properly remount the partition and create the proper files.

I might be mistaken, but the version for GB would just simply check the MOTO servers for an update. That way maybe we could catch a unlocked BL.
As far as ICS???? I would think the same thing. Though I'm not sure.

I highly doubt anything will be found. There won't be any new updates to find an unlocked bootloader.
