Probably not as the ICS you guys have is a leaked. But... this could help you find a newer ICS build, maybe with the unlockable boot loader.

In the installation notes it says do a factory reset when it boots in to recovery... so, it's apparently supposed to boot in to recovery.. I just didn't want to wipe my data today :\
Is meant to reboot into cwm recovery. But because of the way the device is hacked is rebooting into the stock recovery. Simply leave the recovery and relaunch into the cwm recovery of your choice.
The previous cheesecake app only function for one device. It was not properly adjusting the settings. This app uses a device recognition system to properly remount the partition and create the proper files.

I might be mistaken, but the version for GB would just simply check the MOTO servers for an update. That way maybe we could catch a unlocked BL.
As far as ICS???? I would think the same thing. Though I'm not sure.

EDIT: You can also just flash THIS by attn1 to accomplish the same goal.
The update for 1.84 for the Inspire 4G was released on 4-29-2011 as an OTA update. It WILL NOT RUN on rooted ROMs.
Things I have personally observed about this ROM:
Quick. Seems to respond very well to input, no real hesitations. I won't tell you quadrant scores because they are useless.
GPS WORKS! Exceptionally well. 3-6 FOOT accuracy. The highest TTL I have seen is 17s.
Fast. HSUPA is working well, 1.3mbps up. I hit 6mbps down on a regular basis with this ROM. YMMV, of course. But it works great here in North Texas.
Third party non market Apps install. Yes, you read that right. There is no selector to turn it on or off, though. They work for me. YMMV.
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR PHONE, COMPUTER, PLACE OF RESIDENCE, OR PETS.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prerequisites:
S-Off HTC Inspire 4G with microSD card inserted (HOW TO thanks to attn1)
RUU to stock 2.2.1 v1.80 (Located here thanks to cmstlist)
Gingerbreak v1.2 (From Chainfire) loaded on your SD Card
The OTA update note: place in /sdcard/download. This method is untested.
Sideload Wonder Machine if install of Gingerbreak does not work.
A valid Wi-Fi connection
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Follow these steps to achieve a rooted 2.2.1 v1.84 stock ROM
1. RUU your phone to stock following instructions provided in the above thread using the pd98img.zip method, NOT THE .EXE!
2. Boot phone, don't bother adding any accounts or setting anything but a wifi connection up.
3. Go to Settings, choose AT&T Software Update, then choose HTC Wi-Fi Software Update.
4. Download and install
5. Boot phone into updated stock ROM.
6. Install Gingerbreak v1.2 and run it. It will crash HTC Sense launcher, force close it, then you will see an error saying it could not reboot phone. Reboot manually using power button. If it gives you a weird error on boot such as a picture of a phone and a red mark, pull the battery then reboot.
7. ROOT! Yes, you now have root. Verify superuser.apk is in your app drawer, then I strongly recommend installing busybox from the market.
8. Install ROM Manager from the market and flash ClockworkMod Recovery. I have had no issues with 3.0.2.6.
That's it, done! I have had a couple small FC's from SU when first granting permissions to an app, to fix it open the actual superuser app then go back to the offending program. Once granted permissions this should not occur anymore.
I hope this helps!
If I missed anyone in the thanks above it was purely unintentional. PM me and I will correct the oversight.

a little "birdie" told me that at&t is rolling this out to 10K users a day for the first three days, then evaluating the results and - assuming all goes well - will bump up to 25K-50K users on 5/2, and then 50K users a day until done beginning 5/3 or 5/4. don't know for sure, though, if this is why you're having to wait for 1 more day.

If you downloaded the update prior going back to stock Un-rooted, then you need to either format you SD card or use another one. When I went back to stock, the update didn't show up for me, but as soon as I changed my SD card, the OTA came right up after I prompted for an update.

I wouldn't much worry about updating to this if your phone is rooted. Soon enough someone will have a rooted and CWR Flashable version of this. With so many good roms and Devs here I assume it wont be long.

Hey Motorola Atrix 2sers!
You guys have a great device! I have a Samsung Infuse 4G but I'm working with my Dad's Motorola Atrix 2 on AT&T and he's running the newest official release of Gingerbread 2.3.6 from AT&T (OTA as I believed its called)
I just rooted it today using the one click method and I attained root completely fine. Superuser and a few other root-only apps work perfectly.
Now my Dad wants ICS on it and I have a few questions:
1) I can't find the ICS ROM leak though I've seen it mentioned multiple times. Can someone redirect me please?
I found a version of CM9 here (actually, it looks just like what I'm running on my Infuse) but I don't know if it's legit. (http://droidsans.com/node/80867) This link came from a thread started in the Development section in the forum here for this device (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781177)
I'd prefer the official leak I keep seeing mentioned to this sketchier CM9 but I'd be fine using CM9 if it's verified to run smoothly. I need a ROM that is as functional for day to day use as possible; I am not, nor will I pretend to be, a developer (And by the way, I'd like to take this as a moment to thank all the developers that make these projects and modifications a reality. You guys rock)
2) I ran into a problem getting Clockwork as the recovery mode. I used a method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346977) involving installing an app called Atrix 2 Bootstrapper and simply selecting the reboot recovery option while running the app. When I selected that option, the phone just rebooted normally.
From searching around, I think this has to do with the bootloader being locked, but I can only find a way to unlock the bootloader for the atrix 4G, and I don't wanna risk bricking since I'm working with the Atrix 2. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871&highlight=automatic) Will this 4G method work?
3) Would I be OK just flashing this version of ICS (or any, ROM for that matter) onto the device through the stock Recovery mode? If I use the volume up/down & power button method, enter recovery, and press up/down volume again, I'm able to enter a form of Recovery that appears similar to Clockwork. Is this okay to use for flashing any ROM onto the device?
4) Would I need to flash the Google apps as well? Play store, maps...etx...If so, where could I find a package for them?
I realize it's a lot of super specific questions, and I apologize if they've been answered, but I've combed every relevant thread I could find.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
1) Stay on 2.3.6 for now since we can't go back from ICS.
2)Atrix Bootstaper works fine just "bootstrap recovery" then "reboot recovery"

He really wants ICS, the question of going back isn't really an issue. But wouldn't I be able to return to stock with an FXZ (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650&highlight=clockwork+recovery) anyway?
Regarding the Bootstrapper: No, it did not work just fine. I tried it multiple times, but each time I selected "reboot recovery" it would just reboot normally.

** WARNING: Using apps such as this and custom ROMs can cause damage to your phone if used unwisely. DON'T BLAME ME. **
Some of you may have heard about Safestrap on other locked Motorola devices. After some reworking of the process due to a very small preinstall partition, I am proud to present:
Safestrap for Atrix 2 (v2.11)
This version of Safestrap requires that you be on the Motorola ICS leak.
What is Safestrap?
In short: it's a bootstrap / recovery alternative which provides a fairly safe way of flashing ROMs to your device without destroying the main /system partition (and you ability to get back into recovery). Instead, the ROM is flashed to your webtop partition (which is now useless) and treated like your main /system when Safe System is active.
** You will not be able to flash ROMs till Safe system as turned on under the "safe" menu near the bottom. After using the "Toggle" menu item you will need to wipe data and install a new ROM (2nd system is empty to start)
It's based on CWRecovery so the interface is similar.
I have a basic "How to Safestrap" on my blog:
http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/how-to-safestrap/
Why Safestrap?
- Its safe(r) that standard bootstraps which will overwrite your /system
- It supports 2nd-init ROMs by keeping rootfs files in the ROM's /system/etc/rootfs folder (these are copied into the ramdisk during 2nd-init)
- It also supports kexec ROMs if the correct files are in the ROM's /system/etc/kexec folder. (I have these files and plan on testing a kexec Atrix 2 kernel as time permits)
Requirements:
- Rooted + Superuser
- Remove any bootstrap/recovery that you are currently using.
- Double check that you have a functional busybox installed by downloading "busybox" from the market and running the update.
- Download the APK from here and install:
(Temporarily using dropbox)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41149741/Atrix2/Atrix2Safestrap-ICS-2.11.apk
- Once installed and opened, click agree
- Use the "Install Recovery" button
All done.
Now every time you reboot you will see a Safestrap splash screen for 6-8 seconds. During this splash screen use the menu button to enter recovery.
Enjoy and play it safe.
PS: Thanks jimbridgman for testing

Bingo...maybe if you search through system and get it out...not quite sure though how would turn out ya know?
Edit: it sure is. I uninstalled app but it was still in system>preinstalled>bootmenu and also theres somthing about recovery and recovery update. Agaib though...Idk if these should be erased and if it will even work. Maybe should wait and see what the OP says or rdavisct.

You could make a backup using safestrap because bootmenu has to be removed first. That should restore just fine.

First of all, thanks for all the hard work!
Second, i have a question, what makes this any better than boot menu?
Please understand i am not knocking the workmanship, just genuinely curious.

Though now there are little or no safe strap compatible roms
But the advantage I feel about it is that ur first rom remains untouched
Even if there are errors in update script (like that in mini rom though it doesn't boot in this donno why) but yes whatever happens safe strap gets never erased so no problems of fxz (pls correct me if I am wrong )

1. We should be able to flash large zips now.
2. Kexec. Once that all gets sorted out we can actually have real custom roms (cm9/10, miui, and aokp) without unlocking the bootloader.

Exactly. And I was reading on the Razr froums the kexec is almost ready. When its done we just have to port to a2. (When I say we I mean the devs lol)

First thanks hash, and all the devs involved. Great to see your involvement in the A2, as a kindle owner I have enjoyed the fruits of your labor.
Hash when i run the install the program runs through the percentage window and says installation complete, however the header says recovery state not installed. I reboot and nothing i go right into normal boot?
Any suggestions?

It sounds like we won't even have to port it as its built in, we just need a kernel to test it with.

Double check that you have a good busybox installation via the "busybox" market app (run the update).

So I just actually tried uninstalling bootmenu app and all files relating to bootmenu or recovery in system (to make sure no trace of bootstrap was installed) installed the safebootstrap, rebooted, again tried enabling safestrap and got same bootloop issue after enabling. So I again just went back in and disabled saftey. Must be somthing to do with SCV7 being a restore? Not sure as I'm pretty sure I did everything to a T. I'll stick back with bootmenu I guess till this issue is resolved. I do still appreciate and thank you for the work being done here though. This should be the ticket to be able to flash larger zips/ROMs now on the ICS leak.

That's the issue, try making a backup first using safestrap and then try restoring that to safe system.

Keep the downloaded OTA on your /sdcard, but DO NOT INSTALL it! There is some dev work being done on the newest "leak", and I can tell you, things have changed. Avoid complications, and just sit back and hold tight to the OTA you found until we (erm... the devs) have tested this, and can get us back to stock.
Trust me...
will do

Don't install this leak!!! I am warning you, you can not fxz at all after this one. just go install the first leak that is posted in the general section, we have a way to fxz with that one still.

Yes. The new leak is very much final ICS for us. And, as jim mentioned, it will lock us down even more with no way to return to GB. Unless that doesn't matter to you for some reason, I would stick with the first ICS leak found and posted in the general section. Then you may flash a ROM made from the new leak if you wish to experience what the newest leak has to offer. Or, you can decide for yourself what's best for you..

That statement is not entirely true. You can install it being rooted. But, if you have ever had bootstrap/BootMenu installed.. or have removed any files that get patch checks, then it won't install.
Well where is the first leak? I'm lookin not finding, the one i found they said i had to rsd flash to searet or mearet but rsd would not flash with the files the site gave me, my bootloader says failed n evertime i rebooted is goes to bootloader, but i'm not a novice n fix that prob, so if anyone has a att edison ATRIX 2 n installed the first leak give a how to please, do i have to flash bck to 2.3.5 cause i did dat got the ota to 2.3.6 tried the update n still nothing, i just wanna get of GB it's cool but everyone is upgrading n I'm stuck waitin for moto dev to stop scratching their ass n give us what we want :banghead:

Sent from my MB865 using xda app-developers app
Can we get a screen shot? My initial response is no, don't do it.
Firmware info for it would be great.
Screenshots in ICS are down on volume rocker and power button at the same time.

There is already a thread on this update. It is not recommended you pull down the update, but is your decision.

I would hold off for now. But that's your decision.
The devs and other senior members are recommending against this update as you cannot go back to GB from it.
