Hello!
Am using Samsung Galaxy S i9003 running on android 2.3.6
My phone is not fetching any cellular signal even though sim card is inserted in it. It is asking me to insert sim card when I check for mobile networks. After a thorough check up what I found is the IMEI number is missing. It is showing blank pop up when I check in for IMEI (*#06#).
Also what I've found is:
PDA: I9003XXKPQ
PHONE: Unknown
CSC: I9003SERKPQ.
So I thought this cellular signal problem could be due to missing "phone" file in the software of the operating system. So I flashed a custom ROM (Jelly Bam). I was successful in flashing but am still facing the same problem. No IMEI and "PHONE"
I flashed it back to official stock ROM and I still see the same. No IMEI and versions as:
PDA: I9003XXKPQ
PHONE: Unknown
CSC: I9003SERKPQ.
NOTE : I Have flashed the Stock ROM finally with ODIN with all the four files by appropriately selecting them.
Is this happening due to software error or is this a hardware problem?
Why the IMEI number is missing?
Please help me.

the data present in your efs folder which includes files like "nav_data.bak" "nv_data.bin" they assign IMEI number to your phone... these files might be missing or corrupted... better try any previous restore to fix this problem
Tried that!

I guess you are correct but the restored file on the sd card is corrupted one, I guess. Because the same problem occurred after restoring the previous backups. Can I get any custom restores online for efs? I don't want any warranty for my mobile, I just need it working. In case if it works on a fake IMEI by flashing a custom EFS it is fine with me.

No. Am on gingerbread. I've tried Jelly Bam though. But it is of no use. So I reverted back to gingerbread official ROM.

hmmm... actually stepping up for some custom roms based on CM 9 and above solve the IMEI problem.... I recommend you to first download a stock gingerbread ROM and flash it via ODIN... if it doesnt work then download a CM9 based ROM (4.0.4) wipe data/cache/dalvik/ and flash it via CWM recovery then wipe cache/dalvik... it should work and there is like 30% chance to get your IMEI back
But my main point is how u lost ur IMEI suddenly?? You must have flashed something which lead to missing IMEI.
Will Try this once!

No. Once I gave it to my friend. He came up with this issue. He has no knowledge about all these. He said it just lost signal and stopped working!

IMEI is lost when you delete/edit efs data or when you flash a firmware ,but the chances of loss of IMEI are during firmware flashing are very slim

Frankly speaking ur frnd must have flashed something which caused loss of IMEI. Anyway in internel memory card look for backup folder. Tell us whether it is there or not.

FIX IMEI
If YOU type *#06# it says imei null.
Also another thing - that there is no baseband version
#######################################################
the fix
open your SGN II - under the battery you'll find IMEI (in my case)
write - on a paper
turn on GPS
on the dialer - *#*#82043036#*#*
next go to GPRS -> WRITE IMEI ->Reboot
Will it allow modem downgrade, ie DME6>DME4>Stock 4.1.1?
I want to downgrade to 4.1.1 from present DME6 (UK BTU N7100)

Ok, i tried this.
1. Had DME6 on my device.
2. Flashed your DME4 modem which was successfull. The IMEI was still present.
3. Flashed Stock 4.1.1 BTU. IMEI was lost and had emergency calls
4. Flashed DME4 again, and IMEI came back. So i am back on 4.1.1 which i wanted.
The dial string ...8204... doesnt work on my N7100 UK BTU, although i didnt need it because i got imei back.
Successful..........
I had two copies of my efs. I reflashed my efs in 4.1.1 (XXALJ2 modem) and I got the imei back. Everything back to normal. Phew...
the method is when u lost your imei go to efs folder by using root explorer and copy that efs folder to your eternal sd card (i mean backup efs folder to sd card)
then flash a stock rom via odin then your phone still not have service and imei (maybe fake imei is 0499...)
root your stock rom, install root explorer and copy efs backup folder from your sd card then paste with the efs folder in your root directory
=> reboot and your imei is back
i have successful with this method

But how can you get efs back, when the backup you made was from a corrupt efs? Maybe you just didn't flash the latest modem when you were on me6, and your imei wasn't corrupted at all.

no your efs folder is still there with your original imei but the modem has hide or can use it ( so backup it in to sd card ,i mean copy it)
flash your stock XXDME6 BASE WITH XXDME4 kernel in there package, dont change any modem
then use root explorer delete your efs folder (it will show delete fail but all sub folder and files in efs have been delete)
=> reboot your phone ,now android will creat neccessary file for efs folder ,copy your backup efs folder from sdcard to root efs folder (replace all)
reboot and u will get your imei

Let me understand, for I have installed the MF6 without backup my EFS (and now I stuck with this rom):
You installed a previous stock rom with odin, installed that attached modem (ME4) and all right... but you then installed ANOTHER stock rom with odin and was all right?
You will need efs backup made prior to installing MF2. Without it you will not be able to revert to stock with working modem.
i have updated my ROM based on DME6, I have a nandroid backup of my prev ROM DME1 based, tried to restore it. Baseband/modem got restored but EMEI invalid, its start with 0049. It displays my network logo but cant register to network.
This means Im stuck with DME4 modem. Hope our Devs here would be able to resolve this issue with the new released firmwares.

I think you got yourself in a tuttifruti mix not knowing what are doing, not having efs backup and flashing a bunch a things trying to fixit.
Now you have to go back to your last working build and stay there until samsung release a fix so we could flash withaout worries.

Hello everyone!
I was using the Android L without any problems, but when i saw this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...android-lollipop-stock-factory-image-t2908890) - that there is a backup image, for download via TWRP, i did it and followed all the steps.
Everything went fine, but my phone was pretty much dead. no internet connection or phone signal.
So, i decided to install the preview ROM of the Android 5, via ADB (available by Google), but my signal was fluctuating a lot.
Then, i tried to install the Stock ROM 4.4.4, but failed again (fluctuating signal and no 3G or LTE) - Only 2G and my phone is restarting often.
Do you guys have any idea to help me? Or did i screwed my Nexus 5?
Thank you very much.

Wipe cache and Dalvik cache. Maybe format cache and reflash it in fastboot for good measure. If that doesn't work and you don't have an EFS backup then there isn't anything you can do about your IMEI.

Then I heard about OctoPlus Box ( http://octoplusbox.com/) that can do this kind of repair. But from what I saw, it requires a specific hardware.
I will refer you for assistance, but I think they will want to replace the motherboard and it should come out pretty expensive.

EFS is the one partition you don't want messed up. It contains the IMEI info for your phone.
First things first: you should try to do a factory reset from the stock recovery you have installed now and see if it boots.
If this fails, then: do you have any NANDROID backups made with CWM recovery? If you do, did you also backup the EFS partition? If you did, try to restore a full NANDROID backup and you should be fine.
If you somehow get your phione to boot up and you can't get a network signal, then it means you EFS partition (and IMEI) is corrupted. If you don't have a backup for that, the only solution is going to a phone service repair shop (at least I don't know of any way to recover that without a backup).
Good luck

No. You'd screw things further. Don't flash backups from other devices. The IMEI is unique for each device.

I don't know. Try it. I think there was an option for it.
You could also try reflashing stock firmware with Odin. If everything fails, I suggest taking it to the nearest phone service repair shop. Restoring the IMEI is a more complex operation. I think a JTAG is required. Not sure though.
Good luck

I do not have the time unfortunately to go into details. But please search on google: "Odin explanation" or something like that. A good example:
http://donandroid.com/understanding-odin-a-beginners-guide-on-odin-buttons-checkboxes-629
Unfortunately like I said, none of the available options can help you.
And never try to use Re-partition unless you really know what you're doing. That repartitions your internal memory to a different layout (like number of partitions and sizes) and requires a PIT file specific to your device.
In the future, always make full NANDROID backups before flashing anything. This will also backup your EFS partition. There are also applications like this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ma.wanam.efs
And many more examples which I am sure you can find on XDA in your device specific forum. This way, if your EFS ever becomes corrupted, you can easily restore it to a working condition.
Cheers.

Means you're having exactly the same problem I had.I tried different ways and techniques to fix it but none worked. Then finally I fixed it by just flashing my device's stock firmware. But still there may be another simpler fix for your particular device so just try googling around the internet, mentioning your device and its problem, if nothing works then just flash it's stock firmware. But just in case you don't know how to, just take it to the nearest Samsung service centre and hopefully the guys there will flash its stock firmware. Just for your information, before I manually tried flashed the stock firmware, I also did take my device to a service centre first, but they found out it was rooted and they said they couldn't fix it and they said that the only way it was to replace its motherboard, which costs more than half the phone's total price. But when I took it home I finally decided to flash the firmware manually and thus, the device is up and running again.

Just flash it with stock firmware.....

install supersu again. It resolved to me.
In TWRP you have to do all wipes and reboot the recovery. The Recovery will say to you to install Root, click 'yes"

You'll have to flash stock firmware first via odin then flash a custom rom...unless your particular custom rom requires the /system partition to be formatted first, then you don't have to flash stock..hope this helps..

I accidentally flashed Batmen rom and now my imei and baseband is gone. Though , I have efs.img file not sure what software/method I used to make that backup. So, how do I make it work again? does restoring stock rom using odin resolve the issue or how do I restore that efs.img ?

Hey there, flashing stock will restore but if you want to flash the efs image you need to install TWRP.

Somehow solved the issue, by flashing stock from using Odin. But, then, it ran in to issue, showing dead android icon. after that flashed TWRP using Odin and flashed "no-verity-opt-encrypt". No, it's working with the correct ime but incorrect s/n.

You need to edit "serial_no" according to yours(create a new file without extension if you don't have one)
