TF700T does not power up at 1st attempt - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi Guys
Just wanted to ask if anyone else has encountered this, hold down power button,it vibrates after a few seconds but nothing appears on the screen, if I attempt again, I have to hold it longer and then it vibrates again, this goes on for maybe 4-5 attempts before the thing boots, what is doing this, lol, so what i do now which is quite annoying, I just hold down the power button until the logo appears, maybe 1-2 minutes before it boots. tried a reset and a cold boot but still does it, any help would be great. have a great weekend everyone.
kind Regards

Based on your description this appears to be a manufacturers defect. The should be sent back to Asus for repair.

What ROM are you sporting right now? Unlocked? Rooted? How long have you had the 700? First owner or second-hand? Have you tried charging it for 12+ hours and then retrying to boot? On some Android devices, running it completely empty (and subsequently recharging, obviously ) helps as well, although I wouldn't have a clue as to why.

Hi
I bought the tablet from E*** second hand, I think I charged it for 6 hours when I first opened the box, it is running JB 4.1.1, was okay for first 2 days and then I noticed it would not boot, I shut it down by holding power button down until shut down box appears and I press ok, It takes about 10 secs to shut down roughly, seems like an age.then when I boot I hold power down, usually vibrates after 5 secs but no asus logo screen, lol.did cold boot and reset but problem persists. Only workaround is to hold power button until it decides to boot, tempted to return tablet, I also have the asus tf300tg 3G tab, which works fine, very small differences between the 2, screens are very similar despite the IPS + feature, thanks for everyone trying to help, much appreciated.
Kind regards

[Q] Asus transformer won't turn on :(

I've had it for about 3 weeks and I had it in its sleeve for a night then go to use it and it won't boot or anything.
Have tried charging it but nothing comes up what so ever.
Anyone else had this problem?
*edit*
Held power button for about 20 seconds then booted it. Booted up, sheesh I was worried !
Is this common? Does it seem hardware or software related?
Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds then wait five then try to turn it on
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Yeah just did that but had to wait 5 minutes to edit my first post
Is it well known?
Just done it again...
It's known as the deep sleep issue. It's somewhat widespread yet no one knows what exactly causes it

Alright, so it's not a problem with my transformer?
We'll see what the updates bring aha
I've had mine 6-days, died twice now, refuses to power this time at all, tried all the above
Mine done the same thing. Watching a movie last night via HDMI with power supply plugged in, turned it off before I went to bed. Now it doesn't power on, tried everything above.
Please help
Note: Not rooted, stock
Oh my god, thanks for this. I just got my transformer today, and after I installed the update, it wouldn't start up. I held the power button down for about 10 seconds and it started up.
My TF won't turn on this morning.
I tried all the suggestions above but nothing work.
I don't think my TF is in a deep sleep mode because I turned it off last night before I went to bed. It's connected to the charger the hold night.
Any other suggestions?
How do I check to see if my TF's battery still has some juice in it? (Just want to eliminate the charger as a possible cause).
Update
Called ASUS.
They told me to try press power button 10 secs, release 2 secs, and press power button 10 secs. That didn't work.
I had to hard reset the tablet (Vol-, power)
my buddy's wont seem to turn on, tried all listed above and nothing from it at all.
tried charging through usb. any suggestions?
same problem here :/. Tried all of the suggestions. I'm desperate
..
Okay if your TF does not have the SOD then maybe your screen may be dead. Happen to me. See if you could connect yout tf to a tv via hdmi. If you are getting a picture then your tf screen is dead
I think the batterie is broke cause it bootet up right now but after the lock screen appeard the screen got black. But the Problem came so suddenly.
I have the same problem ( as detailed in my thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15475887#post15475887 ). I sent an email to ASUS, but have yet to hear back. Their support portal is terrible. The links for online chat support don't work in Chrome, Firefox or IE. I'm past the 30 day return window, anyone know the best way to contact asus about this? I'm pretty disappointed that this $400 device with no moving parts just seemed to fail (while I was using it). The worst part is, if I have to send it in, I have no way of wiping my data beforehand.
Try contacting the user "Asus_NA" (no quotes) via PM here on XDA.

Can't seem to find that username, any other contacts anyone can suggest?
Thank you thank you thank you for this thread I was just about to call asus. I'm glad I checked xda first saved me a lot of hassle. +1
don't forget to bring a towel!
did you find someone on here to contact?

[Q] My Asus transformer stuck at "Eee pad" screen after turning on :(

After I had to fully turning off my eee pad (by holding power key 10 sec) before the airplane taking off, now I when I turn to turn on pad, it only goes to the blank screen showing "Eee pad" and now moving forward to lock screen. I have tried to turn it on and off more numerous time, same still.
Anyone has any idea why?
Can you get into bootloader? Put the update one the storage card and try reflashing. I believe it is the "down volume" and "power".
Yes, I could get into bootloader by pressing down volumn + power, but neither recovery mode nor wipe data mode works, the screen will just sit there for a long time.
Do you know how to use adb? Can you get an "adb logcat"? Depending on the Asus logo shown, the kernel might already be up

It sounds like the same issue a few us with bricked devices had 3-4 weeks ago. Our only solution after personally talking to a tier 3 Asus technician was to RMA. Ours became bricked after running Asus' Firmware update though so it's strange that yours is stuck out of the box.
same thing happened to me today. I was able to wipe data and get it to boot. I'm downloading the new firmware. Hope that will help. I'd been getting 2-3 SOD every day on this one.
Update failed and it won't recognize a manual search ofr update. Any suggestions?

Mine was working fine for 3 weeks and I was happy, I was even able to update the firmware (through microSD card). I think it went dead on me when I had to completely power off without turning off the music player (at least that's what I thought) before the airplane took off. If that's true, this will be such a mess up.
Now after numerous fail attempts to get it to wipe data or recover and boot (nothing happened and screen is still stuck at boot), I gave up. I think I have to RMA to get it to repair it.

[Q] Infinity won't start, just vibrating indefinitely

Hi gurus,
Updated the OTA patch today from ASUS. worked fine but got discharged while my son was playing with it. charged it and then tried to start it. It just won't boot. Starts vibrating which will not stop. Nothing on the screen. Pressing on Power button for about 10 seconds will stop it for a moment but will start again to vibrate after a short pause.
Tried the manual reset button, same result. Finally, pressed the power and Volume up button for 10 seconds which has atleast made it stop vibrating but is still dead. Tried to restart and same behaviour.
Has anyone seen this on infinity before? Have had it for 9 months and never been a problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Maybe a HDMI connection might let you see whats happening if its related to the display not working.
I am having the same problem. it vibrates..stop for 1 sec..then vibrates again and that's all..always black screen!! i think the problem (in my case) is my screen + digitizer coz my computer can recognize it as storage!
Yes my problem is the screen! i bought a micro HDMI to HDMI cable and everything works like a charm! The screen brightness works but no image at all!
Screenshots:http://db.tt/aBg7IXKd
Tried to charge it fully but to no avail.
still keeps just vibrating.
I work with leicesteruk (small world and why is he not using CROMi-X!?) and I think this is hard bricked! Device will not power on other than it vibrates once then on the second vibrate that normally signifies boot loader load it jus continuously vibrates and does nothing else. No screen, nothing.
We have tried various volume held down options and nothing works including reset hole and letting the battery drain. It still charges but just goes into continuously vibrating with no screen.
The only thing it will accept is power down plus volume down stops the vibrating after 20 secs if held down.
I have advised to RMA.
wow, that's extremely hard luck right after an update.

Phone won't boot

Hey guys,
My phone shut off unexpectedly today and now won't turn back on. When I try to power it on I see the Google logo for a couple seconds and then it'll just shut off again. I tried holding the volume up/down buttons to access the bootloader, but right after I get to the screen it just restarts itself again.
Connecting to power (AC or USB) causes it to constantly reboot over and over, it just shows the Google logo for a couple seconds and then restarts again.
Any ideas on what I can do?

Provide more information for a starter - stock? unlocked bootloader? rooted? third party recovery? rom and if yes which?
If it's stock I'd RMA it.
If not what did you do immediately before the problem started?
try holding the power button for > 2 seconds which should turn it off completely, leave it on a wall charger for at least a couple of hours then turn it back on - I doubt it'll fix the problem but it's a simple thing to try...

Everything on it is stock, no ROM, not rooted. I had just taken it out of my pocket to check the time, put it back in my pocket and then felt it vibrate, took it back out to see it at the Google logo and haven't been able to get it started since. There was one or two times when it got past the Google logo and started to show the start up animation (the four colours bouncing around or whatever it is) but then it shut off again.
I tried holding the power button to completely turn it off, but plugging it into the wall charger just causes it to repeatedly attempt to boot like I mentioned earlier. I'll leave it for a while and hope for the best
Sounds like the mobo is bad. Most likely will have to rma it.

Maybe not. Sounds like a stuck power button to me.
OP does the phone just endlessly repeat this cycle? If so it's rebooting itself do to a stuck power button. One other users already reported similar issues and his power button was indeed stuck. Mash the power button hard for a minute to see if you can unstick it.

Thanks so much, really wasn't looking forward to waiting for weeks while the RMA went through. The button didn't appear to be stuck - it was still clicky - but after mashing it for a minute it started up normally and appears to be fine now.
Did you flash any ROMs or anything previously?

brother the issue is gone, as mentioned "sticky power button" was causing it. read the thread before posting. btw thanks for effort anyway... haha
:laugh::silly:
Hi all. Sorry to reopen an old thread (but xda suggested I check here before making my own thread).
I think we have the exact same problem with a Nexus 5. Unfortunately, bashing the power button doesn't seem to be helping (and makes me feel slightly silly .
Anyone know how much effort it would be to take it apart to get to the part that's stuck? Any good instructions?
Thanks.
Weird, I have the same issue starting a few hours ago. I updated to the Oct 17 beta of Cataclysm then a hour later it happened. But was told it sounds like the power button issue.
Took it apart, tried to fix it. If plugged in I can get into the bootloader, but then it reboots again. I've tried tapping it on a hard surface, and it gets seems like it almost fixes it because it'll connect to my laptop but then reboots again.
Could it be the battery? It was fully charged but then died as I was deleting hundreds of photo's in Dropbox to move photo's over from my phone because it was full.
I too am running into this same issue. My screen cracked so I replaced the digitizer with some success. In the process I damaged the battery and needed to replace it. When I got the new battery and replaced it my phone is now unusable.
When unplugged: I turn on the phone and it's running the ANDROID animation then turns off.
When plugged in: I turn on the phone, the ANDROID animation runs then the phone restarts and continues the process over and over again.
I then flashed the phone with Marshmallow and the same thing happens. Except now that I flashed it I get the Android icon with the spinning gear. So; I flashed it back to 5.1.1, but the same result.
Could I have physically damaged something inside or is it a battery issue? Thanks for any insight.

32GB-Boot takes long press of power button (10 plus seconds). Is that normal?

Hello XDA,
I've done some searching but I can't find a post like mine. I'm not in need of troubleshooting, just a question:
I've had a Nexus 5 32gb for awhile. It runs just fine, but it's always had a "feature" which I didn't realize was unique to this phone until just the other day:
Turning the phone on sometimes takes a long press of the power button (10 plus seconds). Sometimes I have to do this a couple of times and then it will boot. Booting into recovery is the same way. When powering off the phone, it takes about 15 seconds to power down, almost like it's just down like a computer. It will not restart. While the phone is booted I can long press the power button to restart it, and the phone will turn off but not restart. Also, from the bootloader I can choose restart but the phone won't restart. It just powers down.
I never assumed this was abnormal as this was my first nexus device, but I recently acquired a 16gb Nexus 5 and it does not behave in this fashion. It boots almost instantly and restarts.
So the question is, is that normal for a 32gb device? The phone has a new power button and new battery so pretty sure that's not the cause or contributing. Phone has not been rooted or unlocked.
Any thoughts?

Hi, that's a good question. My first thought for this problem would be a sticking power button cuz I've had one of those issues before and the phone was stuck in a bootloop because the button was stuck on my 16Gb N5. I would think this may have been the issue but since you have a new power button I wouldn't think it would be.
I recently got another Nexus 5 and this one is 32Gb but when I go to power it up, it starts instantly. So I would imagine that this is either a hardware problem and not something to do with the software. You may have to get it checked out at a phone place if the community can't find anything on this. (That and I've not seen this issue around before)
This is just my thoughts on it, Good luck!
Well I fixed it. I didn't set out to, it just sort of happened.
I disassembled the phone to replace the camera lens and thought what the heck, let's look at the power button. In doing so I noticed that the ring in the trace next to the power button was exposed, and there was only a miniscule amount of solder connecting the trace to the button. I mean hair width amount. I thought that can't be right so I opened up my 16gb and low and behold there was definitely more solder bridging the trace and power button. I thought what the heck and added a tiny bit more solder to the 32gb, completely covering the ring and thickening the solder connection.
SOLVED! Starts right up now, no problem. It even restarts too. I can't explain is but my non engineering theory is that there wasn't enough capacitance for the connection to be completed so the boot and restart processes were retarded. Either way, fixed.
So if anyone else runs into this problem, take a look at the connection. Hope this helps someone.
