hey guys what do you think is better a vent mount or a sticky one for the windshield?
i bought from eBay an air vent mount, didn't received it yet, anybody here got the chance to use it? is it any good?
plus, do you think mounting it on the vent and turning AC cooling on will damage the device? i think the opposite because it will cool the battery instead of baking in the sun with a windshield mount.
I have used two windscreen mounts.
Both was broken whilst I tried to adjust the angle of the phone after mounting it in the car.
they were both having a quality worser than a toy.
In a worst case scenario the phone might not get any or GPS signals.
I have used an airvent mount with a few of my other phones. One great advantage is the A/C keeps the phone cool when running the GPS.
you're absolutely right.
air vent mount is the best.
i bought one from eBay and very pleased with it!
very solid and the device gets a cool breeze

Air vent is the best

yeah it is.
2 weeks and holding very good.
Also vent mounting gets me close to where I can stick a short unobtrusive lead into the aux of my audio unit .
vent mounts are too dangerous, if you break the vent your looking at spending a lot to get it fixed on your car, i prefer the exomount which is universal and sticks/ sucks to anything. You can even mount your tablet!
Windscreen mount is what I have. Works perfect and I travel so I take it with me! for under 10.00 and for 2.40 more you get 3 years warranty on it?! thats madness.

I bought Herbert Richter vent mount and universal in car holder from holdersandmounts.co.uk great quality holder for £14. Very happy with it
Duncan
arkon car holder
try arkon slimgrip sm415
after doing a lot of research i found this one to be a good fit, you can access power button and volume button as well as rotate to different angles. Also comes with a handy plate to place on dash to attach to if you dont want to attach to windscreen (ie out of the way of view) It is universal so you can use it for other devices too!
If you're after windscreen suction mount, than Herbert Richter mounts are definitely worth every penny.
I had trouble finding a vent mount that fit my car as it had awkward vent shapes, I ended up going for a custom made Brodit Tilt Swivel holder that affixes to my dash, so now it sits in the perfect place and is adjustable, recommended.
It came in two parts, the custom made "arm" that fits to the dash, and the more generic holder that you fix to the arm.
Air vent is best.
And if it´s 35 degrees it´s cooling the device.
This might not be the best, but it's darn cheap and I've been happy with it for about 65 months! http://www.dealextreme.com/p/plasti...car-charger-for-htc-desire-hd-dc-12-24v-50845
The car charger sadly broke a while ago, but that is available without it also. I just ordered a universal usb charger and additional micro-usb cable to charge at car. Navigation consumes a f***-load of battery.
Definitely recommend Brodit mounts. Very solid and well made.

Ronseal!
well an extra request from my front.
Been checking but might have not checked enough.
Is there a holder, preferably HR, with a speaker inside?
Ive been using a CAPDASE Car Mount Holder and it seems to be pretty sturdy.
Would definately reccomend it.
I am also looking for a car mount. I will be going for air vent mount, due to temperatures and wont block the road. Can some one suggest good air vent mount ? I am also looking for car charger, which is best in terms of power delivery ? Is the HTC car charger CC C200 any good ? Or is there any special one for Desire HD from HTC ?
hey guys. i have a chevy cavalier, and the windshield is quite far from the dashboard at it's lowest part. i saw endless mounts, but they were all short and in order to use them you'd need to lean forward.
i currently use a charger mount, but it's crappy - won't hold horizontally (the charger in my chevy is behind the steering wheel).
don't like the mounts that "stick" to the dashboard.
tried the mounts that stick on the vents - crappy as well.
any suggestions?
You have to be careful and not to have it too long because when driving, bumps will lower the arm because gravity dictates it so .
But Arkon sells a 8" inch one
http://www.arkon.com/mobile-grip/mobile-grip-flexible-car-mount.html
Have you tried mounting the mount to your dash with the assistance of a sticky dash pad or dash disk?
thanx mate !! i'll look into that arkon grip... it's a well made product so i think it can withstand rough roads...

NP, but a trick I learned was to use a dab of oil on the suction cup when applying to the windshield. That way, the oil doesn't dry up as easily and then the suction will lose adhesiveness in the extreme heat.
Nice to know... Will definitely try that.
Thanks.

You might also want to consider a different mounting position. I have mine mounted just to the left of my rearview mirror at the top of the top of the windshield. Up there it's nicely in my line of sight without being in the way. My car has a few powered items up there and some space behind a removable panel so I just modified the cigarette lighter adapter to tap directly into a switched power source up there and tucked it out of the way. The location works great for me and only about 2 inches worth of the charging cable are even visible so it's a clean looking installation.

that would be great but i have a car charger which is connected most of the time i'm in my car. don't want a cable hanging in my line of sight...
but - i've checked some mounts which hang on the vent, and a few of them have the option to tilt the mount left-right so that could be cool also...
Whoops, forgot to look into this thread again... If you don't have an option for tapping power up near the rear view mirror, you can always buy a longer micro USB cable and run it behind your dash and then under your A pillar and the front of the headliner. That's where the mic cable for my radio's bluetooth is run. I recently adjusted how my mount it oriented on the windshield and I can only see about 1 inch worth of cable even visible, and that's between the mount and the headliner. I'll try to remember to take a pic today...

Hi Everyone,
For this Black Friday - Cyber Monday I am looking for a car mount for My Note 4. I have a Spigen slim armor on and my phone width is about 3.5 inches. Way to big for my old iottie. what do you guys use?
Right now I am looking at the Kenu airframe+ but I think the price is ridiculous.
Thank you
http://www.amazon.com/Portable-Adju...qid=1417203083&sr=8-8&keywords=kenu+airframe+
anyone use this and does it work?
I don't think hanging a heavy Note 4 off of your AC vent is a very good idea.
http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Windshi...8&qid=1417205916&sr=1-9&keywords=note+4+mount
What do you think of this?
What do you use?
Do NOT hang your Note 4 off your AC vent !! I broke part of my AC vent that way.
Buy the choetech t510 Qi wireless car charger from amazon. It fits all oversize cases+Note 4. Then use outdoor scotch permanent mounting tape and stick it to a flat area of your dashboard vertically. you get that from home depot or equivalent. its a grey tape with red peel off dual sided stickers.
Works perfectly.
I've been using the universal car dock from Samsung and it has been working great. I used a 50% off code and got it for 25 bucks so not bad.
Don't agree with you

I've been using Airframe Kenu Plus (search on google)
I've used it with my g2 and now with my note 4, and it's working great.
Due to the size of the Note 4, I would say a car mount would be difficult to use; the weight might break the vent; magnetic qi mounts-- how much support will the magnets offer? And for the regular suction mounts, I'm not sure how much weight they can take. I've been using a techmatte progrip car mount, and it worked very well for my iphone 5s when I had that, but now that i've switched to android (note 4), the phone doesnt even fit in the mount. I doubt the suction would be strong enough to support it anyway.
I use this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00408B7ZU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
with this http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Holder...&qid=1417724512&sr=8-1&keywords=iottie+note+4
Working pretty good so far.
I am using the Spigen Neo Hybrid Series Case. http://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Note-C...178&sr=1-13&keywords=spigen+slim+armor+note+4

Best carmount i found by accident while shopping at my local electronics store was called Magic Mount, it has several different ways of mounting your phone. but its all by Magnets, 100% safe. They provide you with several options of a magnetic mount i chose the surface mount, and a very thin metal plate that can be applied by adhesive on to the phone or case. 2 metal plates were provided to me with the service, one for a phone and one for a tablet or which ever device i choose. ill tell you this thing can hold really well. its great because I would always put my phone on my seat or cup holder, but what if they are both taken up by someone or my cups, then back in the pocket it goes where i can't change my music. id highly recommended this to anyone. its fast, easy, and no stupid bulky cradles.

Being that the bracket mounts to your dash with a 3M adhesive pad my question is what does the dash look like after removal?
No need to mess around http://www.rammount.com done!
i have the iotti mount and it works fine
http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Windshield-Dashboard-Holder-HLCRIO101/dp/B007FH716W
Can anyone recommend a decent car mount? My dash is textured, so the suction ones don't work, and I hate the ones that stick to the windshield.
Does your dash have enough of a flat spot for a weighted base? That's what I use in my car (a Honda Civic). The base stays put and then I can suction whatever mount I want to it.
It's a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, so the flat surfaces are lacking.

I see two options for you, then.
1) A mount that clips onto an air vent.
2) A mount that has a rigid/flexible arm that sticks out of the cigarette lighter.
A CD-slot mount would be perfect for that dash since there's no screen/buttons/etc above the CD. Amazon has quite a few to check out.
Try the brodit website
For me.. I would get some kind of wireless charging dock..one that's attractive (airdock, the Samsung one etc) and mold it in to the trim. That fo-brushed aluminum trim to the right of the push to start button would be my spot. Pop off that plastic, run the wires behind it and mold in the mounting bracket using advanced wood putty (its called wood putty but the epoxy kind is plastic, very hard and strong) sand and blend..paint to match..bam a seamless transition as if it was always ment to be there =) ..that's what my projects always turn in to lol
The magnet ones are good if you are using a case.

I've had the Brodit for many years now and its brilliant. I bought one for my S3 and I can adjust it for each subsequent phones. Available on Amazon also but you do need the clip for your car and the holder for the phone. Worth the money.
May be you will like this product,
you can search ebay item id:201268839849
just only $4.59
There are lots of options if regular suction cups don't work:
Brodit makes custom mounts for lots of car models. You then have to buy the matching holder for your phone.
There are CD-slot mounts if you have a slot load CD player but don't use it.
There are suction cup mounts which work on textured surfaces like the iOttie one I just linked.
There are mounts which anchor into the 12 V plug or into a cup holder.
You can get a plastic disc that has a foam adhesive sticker on one side and a flat smooth surface on the other as a base for a regular suction cup.
As someone else just mentioned there are friction mounts which put a heavy weight on the dash..but those scare me. The potential for a heavy object to become a projectile in an accident is enough to stop me from considering that.
You can also use a combination of these solutions if there is something compatible (17 mm ball joint, AMPS plate) between the car mount and the phone holder. Hope one of those options works for you. I've had a brodit base with a number of things attached to it for the past 6 years.
I use the kenu airframe
http://www.amazon.com/Kenu-Airframe-Car-Mount-Phablets/dp/B00LU5LWQK/ref=pd_bxgy_cps_img_y
The iBolt xProDock is my favorite:
http://www.amazon.com/iBOLT-xProDoc...qid=1429235326&sr=1-1&keywords=ibolt+xprodock
I second the Kenu Airframe but you'll probably want the Airframe+ for this phone.

Is this compatible with the s6? I have one of these that I bought alongside my htc m8 and am waiting to hear back from ibolt about if it's possible to swap out the charging arm with one for the s6, or if I need an entirely new dock.

The last dash mount I bought for my car included a flat plastic disk that you secured with the 3M 2-sided sticky tape. You mount the suction cup mount to that, and it's rock-solid.

I'm not sure if the Dock'n'Play functionality works, I connect and stream over Bluetooth so I don't use that feature. I just think that the holder itself is solid and my S6 fits fine in a TPU case. This and the previous gen, smaller iBolt are the two most solid mounts I've ever used.

Overview :
The Jelly Legs are made of a high grade Polycarbonate / ABS plastic which makes the product very light and gives a lot of flexibility in almost any surface. I wish the legs could stick to the surface so it can NOT fall off.
As for the Jellyfish Metal Spring Mount the materials are high quallity and the design is beautiful and convenient, it lets you mount your 5.7 inch beast easily, even Nexus 6 with a little more trouble though, iPhones can be very easy to attach and detach .
The magic trick is hidden inside the JellyFish Micro Ball Head. Changing angles is a piece of cake and stable too , although i wish i could get more angles with it.
Pros :
- Very Light easy to carry
- Easy to attach the parts
- Jelly Legs are strong and can adapt to any surface with different heights
- Eye Catching Design
- Can Hold Phablets up to 6 inch and Digital Cameras
- Ability to use it as a selfie stick/selfie pod
- Durable Product
- With the Small Jelly Legs you can mount your Smartphone and work on it while its on the desk
- Perfect for shooting video from a distance
Cons :
- Not enough Angles with the micro ball head
- Its to light for heavy Phones
- Jelly Legs should be "Jelly" , sticking to surfaces
Overall the product is great for inner and outer use, you can shoot videos or take panorama shots with this easily. Mounting the Phone is not a problem, the only complaint is that with the phones getting bigger and bigger the tripod should have been more stable and have more angles to adjust the phone. Definitely I will still continue to use it in my daily life and i recommend this product to anyone who wants to have their phone in a mini tripod sitting on the desk.
NOTE : Do not over tighten the bottom screw.*It will damage the tripod.
I don't even care about the review! I just have to say LMAO AT THE COWS IN THE BACKGROUND!!!
Yeah I'm twisted.
Nice review I've had the mount for several months and love it (actually just recommended it in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/accessories/lens-kit-note-4-t3137783). I actually use it constantly as a stand.
I'm not really a fan of the tripod's form-factor but I've got a few others; my fav came from Monoprice. It's about a foot tall with flexible legs and is usually "gripped" to the arm of a chair for stand-usage. Anyway, the mount works with any "standard" tripod and IMO is more that suitable for any photographic usage as well as... pretty much anything when your phone's not in your pocket :good:
