Samsung keyboard pulled from a stock S2 rom - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hello
Will a Samsung keyboard apk pulled from an international galaxy S2 i9100 4.1.2 rom work on our skyrocket JB leak UCLL3 ? what might be also needed to make it work ?
I need to know if someone tried that before I begin to extract the rom files from the stock i9100 tar.
Thanks

You could use a stock CWM zip than the tar. Try and see.. Out of curiosity, why do you stay on ucll3 when there's official Rogers?

I need the apk from the middle east tar, so I will have to extract the tar to get the system files using linux extractor. ..I know what I'm doing but was curious if some one did it before ...
The JB flashable zip in dev section is not a stock rom. . It is just a gutted one. . Which I don't like. . At least for a stock rom. ..

I tried it on ICS , it worked with some minor issued here and there..But the new JB Samsung keyboard is more temptating. .it combines the good of both Google and swype

That explains it. The rom by vincom is very much stock, i think he switched out the kernel for a better one and you won't be needing rogers bloat in middle east.
If xcrazydx is antisocial then you have a major attitude problem and i have a patience issue But this is all irrelevant, you should just try because there's not too many middleeasterners here

No. .Vincom did not just change the kernel. ..I tried his cwm flashable rom and that's not the way I'm comfortable with. ..I like to custom the stock to my liking. . He removed so many things from the official rom. It is like his superlite roms..I like to do things by myself if I'm going stock. .. Sure I don't need the Rogers bloat but stil I need the arabic language which he deleted from his cwm flashable jb rom.And it is not about middle east or not , it's about a keyboard from The galaxy s2 being compatible or not with skyrocket..btw I'm not living in the middle east..
Now for the attitude, I don't need anybody to come to my thread and just throw stupid comments to just ruin the purpose rather than being helpful..
Thanks

You're making everything far too difficult. If you want stock, dl and flash it. If you just want the keyboard, pull the file.

Okay. here's vincoms CWM zip "FULL BLOAT, NOTHING WAS REMOVED AFAIK". So it's nothing like the superlite roms.
You said that you need to unpack middleeastern tar and try that keyboard on a skyrocket (which only has between 3-4 languages and it NEVER had arabic). Only AOSP/AOKP roms have all languages. Maybe there will be a confilct or issue with languague compatibility. Since there aren't too many middleeasterners here, i'm thinking not too many has tried this specific operation. I don't know about others but i don't care if you're a middleeasterner, i'm talking technology not geography. You're a bit edgy man, calm done, we're not out to get you wallah habibi :good:

It appears this thread had lift off and then took a nose dive....while it burns out, I will just post this THREAD CLOSED and Thank You.

same here because i know if u flash via cwm atleast it'll bypass and install recovery otherwise it might not work worse case we can go back to 2.3 for time being..
The only thing was that I kind of wanted like a really clean (odin clean) install of ics . Nothing left over but Im not going to complain if it comes out cwm

[Help] Installing my first Custom Rom.

Hi good day everyone! Ive decided to install my first custom rom ever in my i9003. But after reading comments, post.. Still not sure of the procedures. What should i do first? Any suggestions? What cRoms is perfect (theming, faster, no bugs esp. wifi) Please? Thanks.
Question: Ive recently done the procedures about external-internal swap, if i installed a new rom, should i repeat the step? or its fixed already?
PDA: i9003JPKPH
PHONE: i9003JXKP3
CSC: i9003OJPKPC
Thanks!
if you may, please include a link.
i too had my first custom ROM a few days back
welcome to the n00bies club hehehe
so far i felt satisfied with poseidon rom which you can find in developers section for our phone model
i would go for cyanogen or miui soon if and when all the bugs are fixed
as for sd card swap i have not tried it or messed with it
if you pick the custom rom youwant, they also come with installing and flashing guide from the developer, just follow those carefully. and you should be careful with the stock rom you use and your custom rom you want since they comewith compatibility issues when different
bro pinoy? thanks. after changing the rom should i root it again?
Every rom has its own features, and all of those are clearly mentioned on in OP..
So if u have any doubts just go to the specific rom thread, GO THROUGH THE OP AND A FEW PAGES AND if u still have any doubts, then post ur questions there (coz most of them don't have a separate q&a thread).. You'll get 1st hand answers instead of 'maybe '
or 'maybe not '..
All ur questions should have already been answered if u go through the thread clearly.. Cheers..
If u r root u only need use CWM to intall the cRoom, it means u dont loose root, but first I'll put KPQ stock room, is the most used version in cRooms actually.

if you change stock ROM firmwares then yes you need to root again.
just follow the guides in the custom ROM you want.
but if you plan to install a Custom ROM and you already are rooted, then no you dont have to root it again.

happy flashing
Maybe i should go first to xxkpq. So i need to flash xxkpe first right? According to the guide i saw, i should flash .PIT then next is the PDA CSC AND PHONE right? after that clearing the cache. then reboot. According to the guide again i should do it twice. so should i flash .pit again?
one more thing, after changing firmware, does my external sd card will return AS EXTERNAL again? coz i've done the swapping method. Thanks.
here is step by step guide by misledz(credits to him) with XXKPE >> XXKPQ
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133787
but if you need to flash XXKPE the second time ... you dont need to include the pit file BUT you also have to uncheck repartition box if pit file is not included.

Different phones may have different preferences, for example my brother's i9003 used to hang a lot on one rom(I don't want to mention the rom). However it was stable on mine. Then I flashed for him clean kpu and he told me it was more stable than ever. So just try out different roms, dont be afraid! It'll fun .

EDIT: Never mind, that's not the modem. According to this post it seems to be related to power management. I never flashed it, unless it was included with the modem zip.

what is this talk of .RPM on touchwiz jellybean? i have searched and found little info... sorry op not trying to hijack your thread!
Here's a couple posts I found earlier today about rpm:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33187381&postcount=4155
and this latter one is more descriptive about what changes with OTA's and apparently only the rpm is of consequence...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32538851&postcount=3532
and finalement, here's a post with the JB leak's rpm:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33557322&postcount=260
Now I still don't know what this does other than exist.

I'm still new to Samsung, so someone correct me if I'm way off-base, but the gist I got was that when a new rom (or leak) comes from verizon, it includes rom+kernel+rpm+modem... which on an HTC device we called rom+kernel+firmware+radio. So my understanding is that if you just flash the new radios without the new firmware that matches up with what your dev used as a base, there could be compatibility issues.
(Much more knowledgeable people discussed this in the Cleanrom thread as in those links above).
i understand all of that...just trying to figure out what exactly is rpm. thx !

In simple terms if I understand correctly it installs files that you don't get in flashing a ROM. Gives you an option if you don't want to go back to stock via Odin and OTA back up to current version.

If you Odin to a prior version of stock, it should be included in the zip which simultaneously changes the modem. The reason an rpm is being discussed is because when flashing custom roms and modems, this isn't updated. Think of an Odin flash of older images as "reversing an update," all those same files are added when you accept an OTA, so they'll be changed if you Odin an older stock image.
If I'm wrong, I'll gladly redact my comment but that's what I understand from this discussion.

Thanks, it's starting to make more sense to me. I'm not unfamiliar with root but typically only do so to eliminate bloat, otherwise I'm happy with stock builds. The JB leak changed things a little so I want to get a better handle on what I'm installing and why.

Why can't this just be simple.....I just want a good stable everything and then leave it alone.....Will that ever happen?

flash back to stock and leave your device alone...pretty simple.
So if we revert to a ROM backup, do we need to manually turn back the rpm as well, like we do with the modem? Sounds like we need vrali5 for jb leak. I will play around with jb for awhile though go back to ICS for everyday stability use, until I find a jb I like. Do I need to revert the rpm when I restore ICS? Where do I find older rpms. Thanks.

Does anyone have link to ICS .tar?

Having some problems with Jellybean 4.1.2 and want to flash back to stock on ICS. Anyone have a link to that .tar? Can't seem to find it.
Thanks!
How did you get to 4.1.
If you are having issues before going all the way back to ics.. I would first (of course of you have not done so already) .
Install custom recovery..
Boot into recovery and format data system and all..
then odin a FULL NOT UPGRADE JELLY BEAN..
sometimes upgrading does not work right if you have been using the device a long time..
iF YOU HAVE Done the above sorry . not trying to make you look like you do not know the tablet or android..You also might want to post what your issues are . Someone else might be having them too and worked them out..
Good Luck... ics files are on Sam mobile. by the way..
Erica Renee the geeky blonde chic without the glasses .. :victory:
Sammobile has all of the .tars, that is where I got ICS and Jellybean.

I'm guessing you have a custom recovery and are rooted? would it not be easier to flash a new rom from the threads on here??? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575766 the deox one for example) i know its 4.3 but its the latest android version for your mini.
i could be wrong but just a thought.
Maybe you could match it with your software version from the roms available in stock roms section, and pull the file from the zip? Check which "rom version" your using from settings>about>software information.
I'm guessing you are running stock?
