Does anyone else suffer from the following, or know whether there is a fix of any sort? When plugged in and charging the touch calibration is way off. I need to press about 5mm or more above the target each time (very frustrating when typing!). When not plugged in, there is no issue at all. Also this issue is not present with the s-Pen.
Known problem that charging effects the touchscreen. Most people seem to find it harder to actually use the touchscreen at all when charging....

I updated to the latest official version and I have this problem even when not charging. Does someone else has this problem?
Calibration out
I recently replaced my digitiser (touch panel) myself. Obviously while testing if everything is working like it should I realised the calibration was out. I first thought the digitiser was a dud. After searching the Web for methods to recalibrate I cam across this thread.
Incredibly the calibration is just out when plugged it. I wonder if this is not by design for when the tablet is docked, as more often than not the angle the you view the tablet is different when docked. I did a small test. When docked and not charging I put on show touches under development settings. I consistently touched higher than I intended to. When I plugged the charger in the tablet seems to compensate for this.

Hi all.
Lately I'm facing a strange problem with my device.
when I navigate with it in a sunny day,
or talking on the phone while charging,
the devices gets hot and the screen goes down.
I can hear that the device is working and the buttons is working, but the
touchscreen is 'dead'. its all black.
Even a softreset won't fix it, the device goes up without the screen.
To fix it I need to pull out the battery for like 2 minutes untill the device gets cold.
is it hardware problem? Anyone else experienced any of these problems?

I can use my Polaris in my computer with MyMobiler application but the sceen it's always black.
Sometimes when I do a Hard reset and press button left side it's OK but after some days it's comming again.
I think is not a hardware probleme but software problem.
Do you have resolve your probleme ?

I haven't resolve the problem yet.
the screen getting black is due to the nature of how a display works. i dont know of it actually damages the device, but i strongly believe so.
the working conditions of the device are written down in the manual, if you exceed those they might not replace your unit. this of course sucks, but it *is* written down to not expose the unit to direct sunlight.

As I said, I'm not sure about the damage part, I could be completely wrong. I just think it *could* be...
If it doesnt change and the device gets unusuable all the time, I'd suggest you send it in for a replacement. Maybe you really got a bad unit, who knows.
Edit: I just thought of stuff which is usually written down in manuals and the glovebox problem popped in my mind: devices stored in the glovebox of your car are breaking down because of the sheer heat which builds up when the car is standing in the sun for a long time. All sorts of displays usually break or get completely black until the unit could cool down again... And in the glovebox they werent even exposed to direct sunlight, its just the heat...

playing games in the room! may be it's overheating, but cooling doesn't help me.
To fix it, i do several soft resets (sometimes more then 300 ). Sometimes one reset helps, sometimes no. I think, it is hardware problem. Also i have problems with my camera (colormess). May be they are connected.

Don't put it in the refrigerator without putting it in a plastic bag or something. Moisture can kill it.
i put it into plastic pack.

I got my Xoom (WiFi) yesterday... already noticing some weird touchscreen behaviour.
It seems to me that whenever the Xoom is laid down flat, there's a chance that the device will stop responding to touch presses properly. Instead of being able to press-and-swipe, it acts like I tapped the screen (eg, pressed my finger on the screen and then lifted it straight back off) or worse, it causes a screen press in completely the wrong position. When it starts happening, it keeps on happening, but picking the Xoom up and holding it vertical seems to fix the problem.
Half the time it seems fine laid down though, so I'm not sure if it's just coincidence that it stops working at the same time I put it down flat or not, or that maybe picking it up means my hand is in contact with the back of the screen and this somehow changes some sort of electrical variable in my hands that affects the touchscreen operation.
Anyone else seen the same issue? I'm thinking I may need to take it back but want to see if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

ok.. judging by the lack of response on this, I may either be on my own or it's just something that nobody is noticing. I've been testing it a bit more - I wrote an app which can show each touch point on the screen so I can see how the screen press/drag is working. This is what I've found.
Holding the tablet upright, screen presses and movements are fine, however I've noticed that if I hold my fingers in the same place for a while, the touch points will prematurely end.
If I put the Xoom down on the couch, there is a strong likelihood that the touchscreen will become incredibly unresponsive. I have had it regularly show up phantom presses where touching one point of the screen makes it appear as if I have also pressed another point of the screen. I also cannot drag my fingers across the screen - the touch points stay where they are until I take my fingers off the screen completely, or they just disappear right away as if I tapped the screen.
When this happens, if I touch the side of the case with either a free finger or my other hand, the touchscreen starts working perfectly! Seriously! I'm not kidding, I've been messing with this thing almost non-stop for the past coulpe of days and it is consistently doing this. So - couch + little finger on side of case = working touchscreen. couch but no contact with metal case = malfunctioning touchscreen.
If I have the Xoom in Motorola's case, it seems to work fine. If I put it on a table, it's a bit buggy but generally works better than on the couch. Any sort of material seems to send it regularly into crazy mode. The only time I've noticed it doesn't do this is if I'm in contact with the device immediately before putting it down and then remain in contact with the screen.
Could some sort of static charge cause this? Is it possible that me touching the back of the case is effectively allowing it to 'conduct' electricity properly on the touch screen? I'm not all that familiar with how capacitative screens work other than I assume they measure capacitance from your fingers. Maybe a static charge could throw it off. Or maybe I have weird fingers.
Anyway, I'm pretty close to taking the Xoom back now. Just trying to figure out if it's actually faulty or whether they're all like it by 'design'.

This could be a loose touch controller cable. Someone had similar problems and posted a how to fix this, search for it.
It happens with me too, it's incredible annoying when you are developing and the tablet is on your table for debugging..
Did you find how to fix it?
I have a serious unresponsive issue on my Xoom when charging. I've tried several different chargers, (all from Motorola) with no luck. Unfortunately all the ones I tried where at my house so I'm not sure if its a wiring issue in my house.
I also have a similar problem on my Droid Razr so I'm starting to think its definitely the wiring.
Anyone know about this issue or have any recommendations?

Thats weird.. i owned xoom n droid razr too but i dun have any iissue
It could be a wiring issue (try another house, I guess), but a lot of devices are like that where the touch screen stops being as responsive when it's on a wall charger.
I have a TF101 that will not charge or power on. I rooted it a month ago and it was running great. My wife lost the charger and had plugged in the tablet USB cable to a cell-phone charger , I found plugged into a week later to the phone charger, unplugged and attempted to turn that tablet on, it flickered on for a moment and then died (loading screen) :silly: ya stupid right?. I them found the right charger and plugged in the tablet and the light indicating that it is charging does not come on. I look and looked online for help. I'm pretty sure its not a charging problem as I did the freezer trip on the charger box nothing, I bought a new charging cable and charger off Amazon, nothing. Still not coming on when plugged in or anything (That is why I don't think its just a battery issue from what I have read.) The connection on the tablet looks ok on the bottom and both the old and new charger will power up and charge the keyboard dock just fine. Has the tablet been bricked dead?? Nothing I can do??

P.S I also tried a slow charge through the usb port on my computer over night and left the tablet plugged into both chargers over the course of two different nights. No luck.Also can't get into (Apx mode) the volume up and power held down for 15 sec does nothing.
Looks like you're stuck. You'll have to make a decision whether to buy a new battery or not. A colleague of mine solved a similar issue with a new battery off ebay, but it doesn't mean there isn't another hardware issue.

Yes the charging light on the dock does come on I thought I saw what looked like a light on the tablet. So the dock is charging and working just fine.
A battery like this? (I would put the URL but its not letting me since I'm new.
I'm not super good would opening stuff up how hard would the battery be to replace? I did see a thread on opening the unit itself looked complex. Also Any more trouble shooting I should do? I may just buy a replacement off ebay and sale my old one. Also can you tell me if its bricked or not or whatnot? I just don't want to put out fifty bucks for a battery and not have it work
Well if it won't turn on, it's difficult to troubleshoot further. The general rule is: As long as you can get it in APX mode, it's not bricked; with hardware issues as the only exception. In theory, it should power on with an empty battery (and start the charging process), but I have no idea about a dead battery or how the unit is made to handle such cases. Give it some time I'm sure someone else here can answer that question from experience.
Replacing the tablet battery is not too hard, but it's a long task that requires patience and some tools. There's some videos on youtube and others about how to open the unit safely without damage, and decent tools are cheap assuming you don't have precision tools. By opening it you can troubleshoot it a little more. Inspect the battery for physical damage, like being oversized, which means it's likely dead. If it looks in good shape, try disconnecting and reconnecting it to the board; sometimes reseating a connector solves the issues. Also look for any obvious damage inside while you're there. Even if you don't know much about electronics, an obvious burn mark on the board is never a good sign.
If after all that it still won't power on, then yes you could check out ebay. Just make sure lots of people have bought the same from this buyer (the more the better) and they gave positive reviews for the product (stuff like "still works after a year"). Make sure it specifies it supports the tf101 and it should be fine.
Honestly from what you described in the original thread, I wouldn't be surprised if over-amp or something like that damaged the battery. Hopefully it's only the battery but as I explained, it's rather hard to troubleshoot. From personal experience developing boards like that, there are usually protections in the device to prevent damage in case of over/reverse voltage/amp. Depending where the battery is connected in the circuit sometimes it's protected sometimes it's not. I have no idea how Asus do it so take it with a grain of salt.

The phone charger that it was plugged into was a Galaxy S charger. 5v===0.7A. Doesn't seem high enough to have done anything...but I'm definitely no expert. (Literally)
Sounds like its a good idea to open it up then to check on the battery, if burned or oversized then I will buy a new one (As long as I don't see burnt marks) If the battery looks fine I'll try the reconnect. And cross hy fingers. Thanks for all your help so far. Any advice on where to buy the tools? Deal Extreme good for that Amazon?
No tools are required, ands its easy to get into just be carefull pulling the bezel off as the tabs that hold it on are quite weak (i broke a couple when i ripped mine apart in anger lol) after that their is about 10 normal screws until its open. It could be the case that the battery just needs to be unplugged and re-plugged in.
Its a strange problem you have there, the power output from that charger is less than half of what the standard asus charger outputs, if something is fried id call concidence as ive plugged my tf101 into various ac-usb adaptors with no troubles. Its a complete guess at this point but its almost like your tablet is suffering from the 0% issue thats common in the docks, where it refuses to charge if completely drained (afaik with the dock this is fixed by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery)
Also did you get an official asus charger as a replacement? a few of the cheaper ones dont even output enough voltage to fast charge the tf101.

I have had my nexus 5 for a while now and just as i was flying overseas some strange things happened.
First the vibration stopped working which i knew was a loose connection on the back of the phone. Holding that area down would get it working again. Then the touch display stopped working. The LCD worked but could not touch anything to unlock the phone. I disassembled the phone and assembled it again and strangely it worked again although i didnt see anything obvious. Then is happened again...
I disassembled the phone and played around with it for a while and noticed if pressed down on the connection where the flex cable connects to the motherboard it would work again. but when i would release the pressure it would be funny again. I did this a number of times until eventually the whole LCD/blacklight should shut off. Now i can rarely get it to display anything. The phone is working because the LED light would flash and i can hear the messaged coming through. I just cannot see anything.
I replaced the flex cable with a new one and still the same issue. I replaced the LCD + digitizer + frame and still the same issue. I guess its the motherboard. Can i fix this ??
Now for some more issues:
I bought a broken Nexus 5 while overseas and i swapped the motherboard out and everything works! So it as definitely the motherboard. However, the second motherboard is having issued the the battery. I have every indication the battery is charging. However the battery percentages is stuck on 40%. It would flicker around 39% 40% instantly and when looking at the battery graph on the phone it is noisy, it is not a constant line. The percentage is not a true indication of the battery charge. I cannot get the phone to turn on just by the battery itself no matter how long i charge it for. I have swapped batteries out and i still get the same issue. I have swapped flex cables and still the same issue. Could it be that the second motherboard is also damaged??
I used the amphere app for a while while i had some power and it shows 100mA while charging but a voltage of 0V! When I unplug the cable it will shutoff. Sometimes i cannot even boot it up while charging.

What is wrong with these two motherboards?! I do not see anything obvious on the board itself.
I now see the new Nexus 5X is out but i am hesitant in buying it...This is the first phone i have had major issues with.

Use a magnifying glass to see if any pins on the socket are broken. I still don't know if it's fixable.

looking into buying this phone. watched a few reviews, and some say theres issues with the fingerprint scanner not working correctly to unlock the phone and others no mention of problems. this would be one of the main reasons i choose this phone is for the finger scanner. i hate entering passcodes. so whats the opinion on this scanner?
No issues. Scanner is actually one of the better ones I've used! @superhtchd2- side note, just noticed your screen name...the hd2 was definitely awesome! Its what really got me into flashing and programming phones?

Fingerprint scanner works perfectly here. Screen off. Screen on. On lock screen. With finger rotated upside down. They all work.

All the major reviews had pre-release software where you couldn't unlock the phone with the screen on, only with the screen off. In other words, the fingerprint reader wouldn't unlock the lock screen. This is no longer the case and the reader seems fairly accurate (I'd say 90%+). The only time I see an issue is when the phone is charging with the screen off it seems to be less accurate. I suspect something else wake-oriented is happening versus an actual issue with the reader, though.
I still have my HD2 (currently running Windows Phone on it).

It appears to charge faster with the included charger. I have an Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 charger and the phone draws about an amp less using that versus the BLU charger so I doubt the phone supports the Qualcomm standard. It's definitely fast, though.
It does have fast charge. From a dead battery with screen off and charging with factory charger...i usually get to around 48 -54% in 25- 30 mins. Im sure it was already mentioned in another post, but download an app called Ampere from playstore. Its free and it will show you how many ma your device is charging at. Fast charge should be around 2600-3000ma. If not, try dis-connecting then reconnecting charger and re-measure w Ampere.

This is my first phone with fingerprint. About 30% of the time it doesn't ready my finger, but I figure I have to make sure my finger and the sensory are clean. I was going to clean it out with rubbing alcohol over Thanksgiving.
I love the finger scanner on this phone - it's one of the best features for me

I just figured I'd report this. This is my second Blu Pure XL phone. I exchanged it since the first one had minor screen damage. Both phones had issues with the fingerprint sensor not working properly when the phone is charging only when plugged into a certain outlet (grounding issue). Also, I'm not sure what happened but today the fingerprint sensor stopped working all together. This is with the phone not charging, and I cleaned the sensor, rebooted the phone and no luck. Finally I plugged it into the charger for a few seconds, then unplugged it and like magic it started working again. I've had the new phone for over a month and this is the first time that happened. Hopefully it was just some weird, rare software bug and not a developing hardware issue.

Guys it happened again today. The fingerprint reader started working about 30 percent of the time. I plugged the phone into the charger (into another outlet that doesn't cause the grounding issue), unplugged the phone, and now it's back to working 100 percent of the time. I'm going to use a surge protector with the outlet that's giving me problems and see how it goes. I would exchange the phone, but the first one had the same grounding issue with the same outlet.
UPDATE: Simply plugging it into the charger and unplugging it only temporarily got the fingerprint scanner to work. I just ordered a replacement phone. The fingerprint reader has turned into utter crap on this phone.
