[Q] Network (or SIM) SIM unlock for Telcel RAZR HD - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I was thinking of buying my sister a code for unlocking her RAZR HD but many sites said the easiest way to check if a code is supported is to insert a SIM from a different carrier. If the phone asks for a SIM unlock code, the code will work. The problem with my sister's phone is that I tried two different SIMs (Movistar and AT&T) and it didn't asked for a code, just showed me a prompt that said the SIM was locked with a subsidy code and didn't offer a way to input anything, just a button to close this prompt.
Can I buy a code and do something to input so I can unlock it? I have searched for this phone and some people unlock it with codes bought from different site. The thing bothers me if that her phone doesn't ask for a code when a SIM from a different carrier is inserted.
I don't want to wast any money for a code that won't work because this particular phone (Telcel) won't ask for it.
Any suggestions, advice or ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah I have the same problem with the Razr HD from Fido. I put in a foreign sim card in and it only says SIM is Perso Locked. Doesn't ask for any code or anything... cellunlocker suggested try to get the PUK code from the provider. I did and it didn't ask for anything either. Still looking for a way. If you find anything let me know too. Thanks.
EDIT: GOT IT WORKING !! Go To the Next page to see a solution. Or possible solution. In short You need to put a foreign LTE micro sim card. I repeat must be LTE micro sim

Search the forums.
You don't need an unlock code.
You need to flash a new radio to get USA GSM.

I don't know how to flash on RSD lite because for some reason it doesn't show my phone just says fastboot and that's about it. no other information of the phone shows up. And when i tried flashing stock motorola it kept failing saying something about filename being too long.

Have you guys tried from the dialer
#073887*
or
#786074*
with a foreign SIM installed?
I think this might be a Jelly Bean problem, as I didn't have this when I unlocked my Rogers phone back in December.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it. but still no luck. Yours worked for ICS then right? So if i downgrade to ics ... I'll give it a try and come back.

I'd been thinking about unlocking mine too, just hadn't got around to trying. If I find a way to do it that doesn't involve RSD lite I'll let you know.

I wonder... maybe it's because I am putting in a non LTE sim card... I'll try my sisters LTE Virgin Mobile Sim card when I get home.

I'll try to ask my carrier directly how to get it unlocked, though they might refuse to answer since I'm still on contract.

Try putting your phone into airplane mode when your regular SIM is installed then power it off. Afterwards put a foreign SIM into the device and power it back on. When the device starts fully take it out of airplane mode. Let me know what happens.

Thanks, tried it but sadly didn't work. Didn't ask for any code. Here's a pic of all it says. Its where it says emergency calls only

SSUUUCCCCESSSSS !!!!
SO. Here is what I did ! ... I did a factory reset. ( I HIGHLY DOUBT YOU HAVE TO so try it with the following first and if it fails try it after a factory reset) the only difference this time is.. I PUt a foreign LTE micro sim card in and then it popped up !!! ... So guys who have this phone. please note. To get the Unlock code question you MUST put in an LTE Micro Sim card.
Thanks to everyone for the help and suggestions!!! Very much appreciated. Loving the XDA community. I will also inform Cellunlocker about this so that they may specify that an Foreign LTE sim card is needed to get the unlock code query. and foreign obviously meaning one that is not your carrier.
Good luck guys and happy unlocking.
Also i have verified if the unlocking works. And it has !! Thanks a bunch again guys!

That's great! I'm glad there is a way to unlock this phone.
I have a question, though. Did you put the foreign LTE Micro SIM card after factory resetting it? Or did you do the reset with your carrier's SIM on it and put other carrier's card after that?
I bought a Movistar Micro SIM which supposedly is LTE without any luck before when I created this thread, but I will try to get other LTE Micro SIM to try again. If that doesn't work, I will do a factory reset after you answer the question about the order you put the SIM cards on your phone.
Thanks. I will keep you guys posted.

What did you do to unlock

I left my original sim card in when I did the factory reset. Then removed it and replaced it with a Virgin Mobile LTE sim card. It may be that the sim card you got wasn't LTE. But I could be wrong. Never the less do try it. If it isn't that, I'll keep looking for solutions.
Edit: Oh, I also forgot to add one thing. With my original LTE Micro sim I did do a sim unlock as well. On my carriers (Fido) website, Fido.ca, in the account section I was able to receive the PUK code. This might have helped with unlocking, not too sure. Get the PUK code from your carrier first. Then go to your sim lock under Settings>Security&Screen lock> Setup Sim card lock. select the first option, which says Lock sim card. Then input the wrong code 5 times I believe then it will ask for a PUK code. Insert the PUK code there and it should unlock the sim card. Once Again I don't know if this exactly helped but It was one of the things I did in my attempts to unlocked the phone.

It seems weird that it had something to do with unlocking your carrier's SIM card. Nevertheles, I'm already trying to get an LTE SIM from a different carrier to try a factory reset and/or this PUK code sim unlock with my sister's carrier.

This solution is not for the same model but might work:
Get a RETAIL ROM (aka unbranded) that works for your phone ( e.g. Flash XT910 Brasil retail ROM over a XT910 Telcel ROM, both are latam so they work flawlessly), factory reset, wipe cache, then switch sim card.
I read it in another forum. Reason is unknown (or maybe it's a bussines reason) but trying to unlock carrier was possible using a retail version instead of telcel rom.

Yes its true

No Sim Card?????

OK so hears my question I currently acquired a t moble htc sensation 4g from a friend who cant afford it anymore. I have a free phone with 250 mins a month and it uses at&t network found that out by the phone number look up.
My nephew also has a t mobile Sim it wouldn't dial out but didn't say no Sim.
I already know that the phone has to be unlocked to use other Sim cards and I did method 1 of unlocking my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107 but only the date was displayed instead of my Sim code now before I proceed with method 2 of unlocking I wanted to know if it would then recognize my Sim card and work or any other way to make it work before I use this method Please help.

I got the 'STRING: NOT FOUND' error on method one, so I moved to ADB Guide method and successfully unlocked it.

If you unlock the phone, it will still work with the original SIM card.
One possible reason that the other T-Mobile SIM didn't work is that it might not have been a newer 4G-capable SIM card, or the contacts became dirty ( they can easily be cleaned with a pencil eraser).

Did you try inserting "a SIM card not attached to your current provider (e.g if you have T-mob use an ATT SIM CARD) and turn on your phone?" (credit sanfranx415 post) edit: maybe try a different gsm carrier in the same country you reside.
From what I have read and understand different versions of busybox will work or are compatible for different things (maybe somebody will tell me if that is not accurate).
Here is a video that might help.
Good luck!
Try contacting t mobile and tell them your going overseas for a few months and want to take your phone with you and is there a way to unlock it so it can be used in another country.

When you insert the sim card and power up the phone, as you unlock it it should give you a network lock screen that only lets you use the phone after inputting the unlock code.

Htc Sensation No Sim Card Error/Can't enter network unlock code

Ok so i tried the unlocking method 1 for my sensation and found my 8 digit unlocking code, however when i put in any other sim card rather than the one the phone is locked to is says no sim card in phone so i have no way of inputing the unlock code.
Any ideas?
Thanks in Advance
i think it states in the unlock thread that it wont work with ALL sensations
Thanks for the reply, yes for some people method 1 just shows a date, but mine gave me the 8 digit unlock code.
The problem is the phone is locked to Meteor but when i insert any other sim then a Meteor one it says no sim card in phone, it should ask to enter the 8 digit network unlock code which it doesn't because its not recognising the sim card for some reason.
mine too, not detect the sim card..
Did you solved the problem?
regards

Did you put the code in with the meteor sim inserted?
you could always just flash another ROM and that should fix the issue, I know it's a bit drastic but if you really want to use another carrier...

Sorry for only replying now, still not resolved, how would i put the code in with the meteor sim in it?
Ive already tried changing the rom and tried the method 2 unlock but it still won't recognise any other sims apart from meteor ones.

Hey Port,
What it means when it says "Not registered on network" is that your device is not registered on Fido's network. One way to fix this is to go into your Network settings, and select "FIDO" as your network (which should automatically register your phone to the network).
If that still does not work, it is possible that your SIM card is not active and you will need to go in and get them to either:
a) Activate the SIM card or
b) Replace the SIM card and activate it on your FIDO account.
If then it is still not working, verify that the device is actually unlocked. Restart the phone with the FIDO SIM card in it, and if it asks you or a Network Unlock Code, then you will need to do one of the following:
a) Contact whoever you got the phone from and get them to request an unlock code from their provider.
b) Get an unlock code via one of the various methods available on the internet.
Option B will be your easiest option.
Good luck!

No prompt for unlock code!

Hi, I recently received an unlock code for my moto g. But when I put another sim in I don't get the prompt to enter my unlock code, just says no sim and "emergency calls only". I've tried rebooting and taking sim in and out.. I'm just wondering if it has something to do with me not being on a stock ROM, I'm using omniROM at the moment. Will I have to return to stock in order for it to pick up the other sim or is there another way to get the unlock code window up?

Is this a two-sim phone, or single sim phone? And, are you sure the sim is good. Tell us which device you have by model number.
Single sim xt1032. And yes it was one of my friends working sims..
I am wondering if the contact on the sim are just not lining up correctly. Do you have other sims to try just to get a feel of the percentage of those that work and those that do not? Testing with just two sims is not effective. You will need maybe 6 to get a metric. If 5 work and 1 doesn't then it is probably that sim.
Yeah I tried a few more. I just decided to revert back to stock and it worked straight away.. Thanks for your help anyway!
