Hello,
I have flashed these ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159089
I would write my question in this thread but i couldn't ( i must have 10 Posts)
So for the Rom Updater i would tell that sometimes the sound is gone. I would ask waht is the Problem and is there something to fix it ?

Install the K.A.T Toolbox app.
Open that and in the audio section hit the FS34reinit button to get sound back

I read this in the Thread: FYI - Tim added a GPS fix to the 1.2.7 K.A.T Toolbox.
Uninstall your current one, install the new one and then install the fix.
Should help all 4.2.2 devices get better / quicker GPS fixes.
But wehre can i find a link to the toolbox ?
K.A.T - V1.2.7 [ICS][JB4.1-4.2.x] App | Audio enhancer | Scan Filters | GPS QuickFix
Sent from my Transformer
Or install EOS 4.2 Rom
I had never lost sound anymore since I move to this rom (it was a every day bug before that on stock or CM 10).
I don't use K.A.T. anymore
In case anyone cares: Should be fixed in ROM itself (and also in KAT kernel) since earlier this week.

Thank you josteink so at the moment i hvae no Problems with the Rom. I am very happy
Today i have a deep sleep Problem with my TF. Have anyone the same Problem?
Please don't use the term "deep sleep" when you mean "sleep of death". Deep sleep means something else.
That said : I haven't had a single sleep of death ever on this rom. I've asked some people to provide logs but I've yet to receive any.

i think the problem with capturing a log is that a lot of us wouldnt know what to look for lol
thats why we rely on you chaps and your hard graft :silly:

Then i creat one and sent it to you.
But is the log there after a Sleep of Death ?

If the log is still there, I'm honestly not sure, since I haven't had this issue myself. That said, I think this is how you'd go about trying to get logs:
1. Learn how to reboot into recovery manually, using the power + volume down, wait, volume up key combo. You'll need it.
2. Ensure you have ADB installed and working on your machine.
3. When machine enters sleep of death, do NOT reboot into normal system.
4. Instead hold down power + volume down until the machine reboots, and make sure you click volume up when asked to boot into recovery instead of system.
5. Connect device (while still in recovery) to a pc
6. On PC run "adb logcat". Et voila!
7. Save that log. You can now boot device back into system.
If that sounds like lots of work, I would like to point you to a post by sidelong in the ROMs main thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39391861&postcount=339
Basically: are you using any Anti-virus or anti-malware software? If so, try disabling that. IMO they're not really that much use, and they have been shown several times to not detect viruses/malware anyway.
Sidelong reports that when disabling those, like me, he has yet to have a single sleep of death.

If you have to ask the answer is no and that is one thing less you need to worry about.
It's software used to overclock your phone.
It also means I have no suggestions for what you need to do to get your tablet stable.
Worst case you can try team eos instead

Hi all,
Rumor has it I picked up a DEFY last week. Most people in the community know me for my work on the cliq/backflip/cliqxt. It's been quite some time since I posted any mods/work here on XDA so here we go. First I'd like to say thanks to Koush & Tenfar for the work they've done. They laid the ground work. I simply needed/wanted to improve on it more. I wanted to include the latest 2.5.1.x version since it has some bug fixes/new features also. So here you go. This recovery includes the latest 2.5.1.8 ClockworkMod Recovery, fixed fix_permssions script, and updated adb that allows root access when using adb shell. All your backups, downloads will reside in the clockworkmod directory on your sdcard just like a standard clockworkmod recovery. If you haven't noticed the fix_permissions script don't run properly via the recovery on the DroidX/Droid2/Defy. I simply fixed the script so it does work properly. Thanks again to both Koush & Tenfar. I'm looking into resolving the problem when you have USB debugging enabled you can't boot into recovery mode properly. This release still has that issue, just FYI. If you choose to use this version over Tenfar's, you'll need to un-install his version, install this one, & choose the option to install recovery once. After that, it's works the same way. Take care.
UPDATE: I've uploaded a new version to my 4shared as well as included it here. This new version simply adds a power off option to the menu & was a quick attempt to try to resolve the USB debugging option. I'll give it another try when I have time, until then, I hope you like having the option to power off your Defy from the recovery menu. I've also provided a link to the original version. Take care.
Steve, kb7sqi
Edit: Due to requests, I'm re-adding the link for this updated version. While I do have plans to come back to #android soon, until then, this will be unsupported by me till then. I'm glad it's been useful to others. Take care.

It's does exactly what it sounds like. It simply returns the "key" value when you touch keys/buttons on your phone. It's handy if you're wanting to update a recovery to use certain keys if your phone has them. Perfect example, on the cliqxt the phone has a touch pad. So in the version I created for it, instead of needing to use the volume up/down, you could also use the touchpad for up/down/select as well. Take care.

It's a good chance that could've caused it. I've had some wierd stuff happen doing things like that when in usb mass storage mode.
Not sure if this is the proper section for this but thought I would post this here as I'm sure it would highly assist people in development and other tasks. This is the button combinations you need to enter each mode.
ODIN/Download Mode
Make sure your device is completely off
Key Combos: Volume Down + Home
While holding both of them simultaneously press the Power button until you see a disclaimer on the screen
Then let go of all the buttons and press Volume Up to accept the disclaimer
Once the green robot is visible on the screen this indicates that handset is in now ODIN/Download mode
Recovery Mode
Make sure your device is completely off
Key Combos: Volume Up + Home
While holding both of them simultaneously press the Power button
As soon as the phone vibrates, let go of the Power button but keep holding Volume Up + Home
When you see the "Samsung Galaxy S III" logo (not just the word "Samsung"), right after that, the next screen you should see is your recovery
Don't let go of Volume Up + Home until you see your recovery
Updated OP to correct that Samsung devices do not have a "Fastboot" mode. ODIN mode replaces this and the ODIN software is basically a set of fastboot commands which is the only way to communicate to the device on a low level. Just a little FYI for everyone.
Heimdall should also work ,and it's cross-platform, unlike Odin. But somebody with a phone should test it to make sure it does.

Thanks for this handy information.
Since I am not at all familiar with Odin and how it works, could you ad a description of the steps to take in order to use Odin to flash an image file to the Galaxy S III? I watched a video on rooting, but the author never really showed much of the Odin screen on his PC and didn't say anything at all about how to use it. So far I keep reading to "use the PDA button", and I have the files downloaded and ready to go, but I don't want to make any mistakes.

Thanks. I guess it's really pretty simple after all.
I've seen some posts where folks had Odin still chewing on the process after 45 minutes. What do you recommend one do in that instance?

In 99% of cases such as that it is likely the fault of a bad USB cable or the computer itself. First try another cable, if still the same try to get access to something like a laptop and try there, usually USB ports work fine on laptops.

Thanks. Luckily, I did not have this issue, and your thread here allowed me to root easily on the first try (I did use the OEM USB cable, having read that sometimes prevented problems for others). So thanks a lot for this thread. I am one of a presumed many who came here as this thread was spawned from a divergence on a previous root thread. Glad I did.
I did have an issue with Rom Manager while trying to flash CWM Recovery. It hung on the first attempt and I had to reboot the phone, but then it worked the second time. The only remaining anomaly I have here is that the nandroid I made is dated 1970. I'd like to know if others are having the same issue, and await some announcement for a fix. Does CWM Recovery actually have a support site? If so I'll post there about it.

Happy to help.
And the date bug is a known problem with both CWM and TWRP recovery so far so don't worry too much for now and it won't affect it's use, just an annoyance. No ETA on a fix just yet but check in ROM Manager for an updated version possibly.

What I would actually like to see is CWM offering to let us name the nandroid when creating it, as well as where to put it. From what I have read this date issue is long standing, yet I have never encountered it before using rooted Android devices for the past 2 years until just now. I wonder if it is just this phone model causing the issue?
Does the battery need to be pulled for Odin to be accessed?
How about updating the OP to mention that you must be powered off before pressing the key combinations to enter ODIN mode. Would have saved me a lot of time.

Sadly, the date issue in CWM Touch Recovery has still not been corrected. I rename them after I make one ( but make sure not to put any spaces in the file name or it won't pass the MD5 check when using it later).

I was curious as to why backups I'd named were failing seemingly at random. Thanks for the heads up. I wonder if this applies to renaming a backup and is therefore correctable by doing so with no spaces in the new name?

Hello
I was wondering if anyone has been using the Viewsonic VSD220 yet? It's the 22" tablet/screen running ICS.
I went to manufacturer's site to download drivers to use as part of Bin4ary's instructions on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 in trying to root the device but there are no drivers available.
Anyone has any ideas on how to go about getting drivers or find other means of rooting the device? My intention is to overclock the OMAP4430 from 1Ghz to maybe as high as 1.2Ghz.

What exactly do you mean by pixel density?
I had some issues with the screen as well but worked it out through configurations.
Video card drivers plus Windows text clarity tools improved things a lot.
I would also like to root it, as it seems not to support mass storage out the box... Other than that, I am quite pleased with it so far

With LCD Density I mean what most (windows) users would refer to display resolution. It has a native Full HD Display with 1920x1080.
Unfortunately, by default everything is scaled up in an 1:2 factor. This means that a webpage displayed in the browser that has actually a width of ~950pixel takes the full screen width on the VSD220. This may be good if a 10" screen with full HD does that, but not on a 22" screen.
Anyone found recovery mode yet as well - usually involved another button as well as power on a phone/tablet but there only is the power button!
This can root, just don't do the 1.1 OTA update!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
As long as you don't have the 1.1 update this will work to root the vsd220...
If any of you have the firmware or know how to recover to 1.0 I'd love to, I miss using titanium backup and droidmote amongst others...
The google generic adb drivers worked for me btw...
Ah, sorry just done the update. Took ages, messed up my config and stopped sleeping etc so had to fully reset! What a great update!!
Not really noticed any fixes - still very slow, can't use most apps on play etc etc.
Probably going to swap to a Minix Neo X5 and an old Acer T231HL Touchscreen that I picked up and have been messing with, works pretty well, much faster!
adrenalize_: Yeah update was a giant **** around :S You can get to recovery mode though, just have to use adb and send adb reboot recovery... can't access the recovery menu at all or anything like that though and there are no firmware images available for the vsd220 anywhere :S
OP and people trying to root the VSD220, I have accomplished root on both versions 1.0 and 1.1. Please go to my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38438216#post38438216 and feel free to ask questions or if you need better instructions.
Thanks sk8tingusmc, although I had to use fastboot boot recovery.img instead of fastboot flash recovery recovery.img I finally managed to get my monitor rerooted (I'm not allowed to post on the topic you created though, sorry for the mislocated post) and now I've frozen system update so I shouldn't have to worry about that pile of stupid again Now if only they had actually released either the original firmware or a better update that fixed some problems (I hate having to restart my monitor just because it got froze in sleep or the touchscreen no longer works for windows or... ).
Yeah the locked in sleep is a real pain! Silly silly Viewsonic!
I'm onto customer support at the moment, trying to tease V1.0 out of them so I can restore it at home but they are saying it needs to be returned to their service center for it to be done. You'd kind of hope they would release a very quick update to fix it - I'm assuming it affect all units?

Hey no problem, that is odd I could have sworn I used fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. Maybe the install-recovery.sh flashed the stock recovery before you had a chance to reboot into recovery. I will try to compile some custom roms but I have very little free time. Also I haven't used my monitor for long periods of time and have only had it for a few days so I have not had any of those symptoms yet. How long is it asleep before freezing?

I made a nandroid and image.zip of version 1.0 if you are interested.
It seems that if the device sleeps itself - or if you quickly press the power button to sleep then when you press the power button to make it wake up it turns green for a few seconds then goes back to amber.
I've just found that if I leave an app open - like Tune in Radio the sleep works OK but if you go back to the home screen then sleep - well sleeps forever. I have turned off the sleep option to stop it happening then but we usually just sleep the screen when going out etc especially as it takes so long to boot.
Thanks for an offer of the image.zip I guess I might give it a go to save returning the hassle of returning the display! (I've used 4shared for things like that in the past)
Should the image be flashable using fastboot (after oem unlock and rebooting to the bootloader) or can it only be done from cwm?

Thanks for an offer of the image.zip I guess I might give it a go to save returning the hassle of returning the display! (I've used 4shared for things like that in the past)
Should the image be flashable using fastboot (after oem unlock and rebooting to the bootloader) or can it only be done from cwm?

Actually the nandroid backup is the only way I can revert back to v1.0 is the Android, the boot loader/kernel does not allow modifications to just the system. The best thing we can do is try to do a safestrap. Since there is only one button flashing a kernel or bootloader would be to risky, if you can't boot in you can't adb reboot recovery. I have been able to boot a boot loader from an sdcard but I haven't found a bootloader/kernel combination that has worked yet.
I had to edit my last reply, I posted from smartphone and it auto corrected my words.

Either go here and follow the steps starting at the device manager step if SDK is already installed. If not start from beginning. Or set up an android environment on a Linux distro.
Got this rooted now. Any advice on best lcd density, tweaks, overclocking etc to make this thing more usable? What app can I use to hide the status bar?

I'm looking for firmware version 1.0 image.zip. After the update, the touch is totally f****** up. The touch is out of sync. Can anyone give me this version? I can give you a dropbox upload folder if needed.
Kind regards,
Pieter

Hey no problem, that is odd I could have sworn I used fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. Maybe the install-recovery.sh flashed the stock recovery before you had a chance to reboot into recovery. I will try to compile some custom roms but I have very little free time. Also I haven't used my monitor for long periods of time and have only had it for a few days so I have not had any of those symptoms yet. How long is it asleep before freezing?

I made a nandroid and image.zip of version 1.0 if you are interested.

I'm looking for this firmware, after the update my screen is totally out of sync.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the SK4G or knows about any solutions. My GPS has been unable to get a fix since before I even rooted. I hoped rooting and installing a custom ROM would fix this but so far that is a no.

try a nexus rom (the themes look amazing an are stable) only crashes are when something isn't supported or something goes wrong with a app

If you have everything correct but can't flash "error" finding the command in the cwm its just a bad root easy fix just odin an reroot put recovery back in an there
If you have anymore issues please just reply to this thread I check all new replys to threads also please check a few other fourms with the same issues as more people helped to fix them. This phones community is pretty much dead or they play the mime game . Be silent an lock your self in a box type of mimes

Thank you for the help. I ran the fix permissions and rebooted and I am running a nexus rom, nexus jb 1.3.2 to be exact. Sorry, I didn't understand the instructions concerning the flash "error" as I am very new to it all. The gps did stop working even before I was rooted, I wonder if maybe this is a hardware issue.

No worries about responding right away, this isn't a huge issue just something I'd like to fix if possible. It is my only phone but I don't need GPS daily so no rush.
If you mean turn GPS off/on in settings I have done that several times. Most recently I turned it on and rebooted but still no GPS fix. Time is getting close to needing a new device lol...

To all: Make sure that you do a clean flash when coming to this Rom and to make sure you flash the boot.img that comes with it. You should show 172 apps on boot or so. If not, make sure to reflash. For theme stuff: If you guys have any requests, I'm open to adding in unique color choices!

Restart your phone. As soon as the HTC Blue Logo disappears, hold volume-down and the power button at the same time and don't let go I Tim your phone reboots into hboot.
Another method is to hook your phone up to your computer that has adb. Open a command prompt in the folder you have adb and type: adb reboot recovery
That will send you into recovery.

Sounds like you have a update file on your external sdcard and the boot loader is reading it. If you try entering recovery this way, eject your sdcard until you get a chance to rename that file to something else then try this method again. Otherwise, use the adb method for going into recovery.

We have been sharing ideas and in chat for a couple months now I will certainly do the same for him once he releases his Rom.
Where can I get the LP Google play services apk so that I can push it to system apps and then flash the rom to test? Haven't seen anyone post it or where to get it.

com.google.android.gms folder located in the data/app folder within the rom zip.
Great job neo!
I know its only gonna get better with time....like scotch
Can't wait till official drops so the little things like WiFi disconnect can get straightened out
And some special tweaks!
Thanks again!

I noticed that when device is inactive for a long period wifi disconnects and the only way to get it back is to restart. Can't give a exact amount of time, has happened overnight and when I wake I have to restart to get wifi back....it says wifi is on but just keeps scanning. I also just had WiFi completely Crap out for no reason, was not inactive.
Just one question, is smart lock? not in the ROM? The one where if you have Bluetooth device no need to unlock the password
WiFi issue as well on sense roms
I love this ROM its my favorite but I also have this WiFi bug where if I have the fphone
sitting screen off idle the WiFi disconnect and it no longer scans and
I have to toggle it off and on and it takes a really long time to toggle. anyone
else experiencing this or found a solution. I've only seen this on Roms with
sense integrated.

The problem is due to firmware not being up to date and is usually resolved by updating to the latest available firmware.
