Hello everyone, Just got a new Galaxy note 10.1 and rooted it and I am trying to hack a usb mass storage device add-on by comparing files and editing system files.
However when ever you restart to apply changes to files edited, eg defualt.prop android updates the files and restores them back to factory default.
It even deletes files that have been duplicated and renamed with com.android.future.usb.accessory.jar.bak
Has any one seen this or have an idea on how to disable it.
I am rooted
I am running Galaxy Note 1.1
Model Number GT-N8013
Android Version 4.1.2
Kernel Version 3.0.31-813049
Build Number JZO54K.N8013UEUCMA3
brick has been fixed. I am still checking out the above problem.

On my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, I installed the main new CM10 ROM, as recently announced, and although I had some problems, it now works fine. However, as I was trying to transfer a ZIP file that I did not properly transfer the first time, I discovered that the card reader does not seem to be detected at all when I connect it to the tablet. Also, the tablet, which uses the same port seems to be only partially working. For example, the Home and Back keys do not seem to work at all, although the equivalent buttons on the display seem to be OK.
Are there other things I should do once I have the new ROM installed ? I was trying to get the Google Apps ZIP file tr-transferred to the internal /sdcard partition so I can install all those goodies.
Try to ask the developer of the rom, he/she has the answers. Or maybe revert to stock rom if you really need to those functions.
Hi,
So i have an Acer liquid e2, 2 sims cards version, i've been tinkering with it for some time but lately rom porting has caught my attention.
So after searching i learned that ported rom must be similar and there's a pretty similar device, the samsung s4 mini duos, i download its stock rom, extracted its boot file and system folder,
As well downloaded my acer stock rom, deleted apps, firmware, media and fonts, and replaced them with the samsung folders as well replaced an android file in the lib folder and deleted some files in the permission folder and replaced them with samsung one
It started giving me a status 7 error so i updated the updated file and removed till media, i know i was supposedly to delete till the first "; " but the status 7 kept appearing,
Now what happens is that it installs, but not everything like framwork is left out for sure, i think only some apps are being installed
Any idea what is happening?

Hi,
I am rather new at android. I recently acquired used Samsung Galaxy S5830. Hardware is in excellent condition, however firmware and software are a real mess. The phone seems to have Cynogenmod as a custom ROM installed which I find annoying and there are bunch of apps that I don't dare removing not knowing what they are while basic things are missing including possibility to add Samsung account, email client, gmail client, maps, Samsung apps, navigation etc.... I would like to get the phone either back to its original state or some other custom ROM that would include all (and only) original preinstalled Samsung applications as many of them are missing now, whie there is bunch of stuff I don't need and don't know what they are.
I have found appropriate USB drivers, installed them, appropriate tar.md5 file, installed Odin 3.7, put the phone in download mode and tried to do it myself. However, Odin creates a port but fails each time, I get no yellow or green where its supposed to be. I am not using the phone yet, so I don't mind wiping it all, no backup is needed.
: Model number (GT-S5830), Android version (4.2.2), Baseband version (S5830XWKT8), Kernel version ([email protected] #1), CPU, Memory (277 MB), CyanogenMod version 10.1.0-RC4-GT-S5830-cooper, Build date and Build number
I'd appreciate all the help I can get.
Thx.
HOW TO PERMANENTLY FIX THE Wi-Fi PROBLEM OF YOUR SAMSUNG DEVICE- DESCRIPTION -This is a GUIDE on how to repair the Wi-Fi problem characterized by not having the ability to TURN ON the Wi-Fi after flashing:
1. A new firmware;
2. A new custom rom;
3. Anything else that may interfere with the /system folder of your device.- WARNING -This tutorial is based on the I9505 phone, but if you have this problem on another Samsung device you just need to find the specified BOOTLOADER and MODEM related to YOUR MODEL.- YOUTUBE VIDEO - To understand the whole process completely I have made an YouTube video, because I think it's a better way of understanding what you should or shoudn't do. Video is recorded at 1080p @60fps so it will take longer to process on YouTube, be patient, it will be worth waiting.
- EXPLANATIONS -THERE ARE 3 THINGS OVERALL THAT YOU SHOULD DO IN ORDER TO FIX THE PROBLEM:
1 - UPDATE THE BOOTLOADER - YOU CAN ONLY FLASH A BOOTLOADER THAT IS ONLY BUILT FOR YOUR DEVICE = S4 USES A BOOTLOADER, S5 ANOTHER BOOTLOADER AND SO ON;
2 - UPDATING THE MODEM - YOU CAN ONLY FLASH A MODEM THAT IS ONLY BUILT FOR YOUR DEVICE = S4 USES A MODEM, S5 ANOTHER MODEM AND SO ON;
3 - ONLY FOR ROOTED I9505 - YOU CAN ONLY FLASH THIS FILE ONLY IF YOU ARE RUNNING 4.4.2 OFFICIAL TW ON I9505. NO OTHER EXCEPTIONS.
Neccesary step - You need to edit the build.prop file of your phone with an app like Root Explorer, situated in /system folder and find the line containing ro.securestorage.support=true and change it to false then save the file.
- DOWNLOADS - WARNING! - I9505 FILES ONLY -DROPBOX FOLDER WITH ALL THE FILES YOU WILL NEED

Hi,
I bought an IMEI changed Samsung Galaxy Note 9. Its rooted using Magisk, I m not a familiar with android ROM installations.
I want to upgrade android version from currently running 9 to android 10. But I dont want to loose the Changed IMEI.
What will happen if I flash official android 10 ROM onto my device, will the IMEI be changed to the factory one?
Thanks
Backup /EFS partition before changing ROM.
FYI:
EFS stands for Encrypted File System. Imagine the EFS as a big folder containing all of the important stuff that makes the "phone" part of your phone (i.e. what lets you communicate from one person with a phone to another) tick. It contains your IMEI, lots of files revolving around your SIM card and Wifi/Bluetooth (this includes your MAC address for all the radios of your phone), and lots of other things that should never ever under any circumstance be deleted or touched. It's sensitive, it's devastatingly important, and it's a huge pain. If you lose your EFS folder, you lose pretty much any chance of your phone being able to use data, Wifi, Bluetooth, and ( probaby) your phone will just not want to respond and reboot quite a lot.
