If you mean an app that allows VoIP from countries that block VoIP normally, Skype works.
Or if you need SIP, use csipsimple but with TLS and/or SRTP. Note your VoIP provider must support TLS in that case.

Or just run vpn and use whichever one you fancy. That's what i did while i was staying in Dubai. UK vpn and no worries.
Can share me VPN link

Under settings/misc tab there is an option "SFR support". What is this for? No results found in my google/xda-domain queries.

It's only designed for french operator SFR users.
Well I know what SFR is, I was curious about what kind of support can a xda premium user can offer to SFR. Regards

I am also curious - what does this do?
While I now know that the feature is not meant for my use, I am still curious.
?
+1 Welcome to the club!
I want to know to.
Maybe it read the sfr configuration of the 3G... to allow connection via a special port

Maybe I don't fully understand your needs but surely almost every phone on the planet has a built in answering system linked with their provider.

No. The operators provide only voice mail options.
A good auto answering software / appn, I doubt, is available.

He he.. I remember the advanced call manager app I used in Nokia phones. Awesome app,. But none is available for Android.
Is there a messaging app the would give a real time alert (stated "typing") when in text conversation to notify you that the other person is responding to your message. Any help or thought and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Yeah but that's an app where both parties need to have that installed where I am looking for more of an sms app. How does that app even work and forgive my silly questions

Hmm, idk if the facebook messenger app does that, u can use it to text people and both parties don't need it

I use whatsapp and it does that. Possibly one of the best messaging apps there is. Both parties need it, and it is a dollar, but you can use wifi and it is rock solid stable. One of the best purchases I've made in the play store.

yeah you are only going to get that functionality when both parties are using the same app. And it would have to be a messenger/chat type app not a strictly sms/mms type app

GrooveIP works pretty good if you have a goole voice account.
