GrooveIP works pretty good if you have a goole voice account.

Anyone else using VOIP for voice? If so, could you share your settings(preferably CSipSimple)? I don't remember what I changed, but I got VOIP working almost as good as real calling.

I used to have a setup where I configured my google voice to gizmo5 and using sipdroid I was able to make free calls to US.
Now that gizmo5 is closed, I can no longer do it.
Does anyone know of a good sip provider that I can integrate with google voice and make free US calls?
Thx
Try grooveip from the market... it works greatover 3g or wifi

Is there any app that you can call over 4g or wifi so it doesn't use plan minutes cause we only have 750 a month and my parents weren't happy with me cause I used like 350 of them talking to my girlfriend. Thanks in advance

If you add wifi calling to you plan you can uses the wifi app that comes with the stock roms and it will not use plan minutes. You have to make sure it is added our it will use plan minutes.

Instead of messing with all those settings you might want to look into an app called 'auto ap', it is in the market. What it does is when your phone connects to wifi it will automatically put it in airplane mode & start groove ip. That way groove ip won't fight with the native phone app to answer incoming calls. Works great & makes it easier for you to keep track of your mobile minutes.
Just downloaded grooVe can't wait to try it out

So I don't have cell service yet but I'd like to get my voice messages through hangouts. Is it possible? I'm on paranoid android with Franco kennel.

Yes. Go in your Google Voice settings and under sync and notification, select messaging app under where you'd like to receive your messages.

But then I can't send messages out without cell service.

You will need to be connected to WiFi. Test it out and post your results back.
Google voice will just reroute you messages to hangouts but it will still use wifi to send the messages.

I've already tried the suggested in this thread. No bueno at all. It don't work it stays stuck on sending when I start a message to a contact.
That's the only way I know of getting GV messages in Hangouts.
I've never tried it without service. I guess hangouts itself is totally dependent on cellular networks by default. Sorry couldn't be of more help.
Sit tight. I'm sure someone else will have another idea for you.

Some chef should be able to compile it with PA. The code is available on Koush's Github
