I got it from a friend which imports them from china.
I think you can find more info HERE
All i want to know is that if there is any firmware upgrade or some solution that i cand rewrite my imei. I tried with ZOPO IMEI, MT6516 IMEI and the result after i tried to write the imei was: "java.io.FileNotFoundException: /dev/pttycmd1: open failed: EACCES (Permision Denied)/dev/pttycmd1: open failed: EACCES (Permision Denied)
I used Root Explorer to go to /dev/pttycmd1 but there is not "pttycmd1" in /dev/
Did you really get it for $280 with such annoying bugs? Because on Pandawill THLw8 MTK6589 wich are recognized as brand, and solid are $250. I mean knock offs are concentrated on good immitation, real brands(soon we'll have a lenovo mtk6589, but if they once again limit it to 512 mb ram -bye!) are focused on stability....If you got it cheaper than $200 I might try to understand....because it is silly to say:
"Yeah, real Iphone but please don't enter settings...."

Well than it is win-win. Either you are the first to fix Imei problems on the new quad core mediatek 6589(btw try another sim- some carriers in some contries simply don't care about imei- or research and sell it to an ebay member from such a country if nothing helps), either you have a free wifi Android tablet...
BTW: I am just curious - how did you got root or was it pre-rooted?
Try to install this rom. Maybe this could solve your problem.

nothing happend, no luck, i sold the phone..
This is a known issue with China bases knock offs. They come with no IMEI and non official versions of android. I would not advise ever going that route.

To the well respected users, Im Nullbesign (not my real name) lol.
I have google nexus s i9020T that is locked to t-mobile
I would like to know is there any way that i can unlock my phone and use it with other GSM plans? Would i destroy the phone by unlocking it or rooting?
Is rooting also means unlocking?
Here is my phone data from the setting page > about phone
Model Number: Nexus S
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband Version: I9020XXKI1
Kernel Version: 3.0.8-g6656123

Nexus phones are NOT network locked, you can just put in another sim and it will work
Sent from my ice cream powered Nexus S
No you won't destroy your phone by unlocking and rooting. If it did, most of us in the Nexus S forum would have sued Samsung and Google for it

The baseband version you mentioned sounds like the M200KRKC1 of the korean m200 since there is no such radio like that on i9020t/9023/i9020a.
If that kc1 part is correct you got the korean m200.
Shutdown device, pull out battery, you will see model in battery slot

As long as you dont mess with the radio/bootloader you are good.. the only difference between the 3g (i902x/m200) variants is the radio baseband config.

Bootloader is generally fine but leave radio as it is that is latest for that variant.
Fyi if you want jelly bean.. there are reports that the cwm zip that i put together (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784497) works on the m200.

Ok that answers your question there... its a i9023. As per the box they just reused boxes without checking what the model actually was. The confusing part before was that the baseband version doesn't match the european/north american models.

This is the big update at 347mb that Samsung has pushed out to other S4s. Now its arrived officially on UK sim free, once complete I will add ROM details, this is BTU.
I had to create new thread as UK thread closed, as sticky for firmware discussion also closed.
This is the only way to advise people. Note for moderators , thanks.
mine just says the max numbr of rollouts has been reached and to try later or use kies. but if i use kies (like i had to last time this happened), it just says that i already have the latest firmware. it's been like this for the last 3 days so i'm not sure that there actually is a new update.
It's firmware i9505xxubmga.

oh, then that's what's been on kies for weeks now. wonder why my handset is now showing the max rollouts reached rather than telling me im already up to date though. weird.

When I check for updates I'm now being told something about "maximum rollouts" too, usually it just says latest version installed? I've had XXUBMGA for 2 weeks though.
