Considering there is a CM tree for the 700 (unofficial), I don't see why you can't attempt compiling. However, most features don't work, and android apps are pretty much incompatible at this time.
But I'm sure some would welcome you trying.

Porting table version of Ubuntu 11.10 to NVidia Tegra 3

Hello.
I spoke with Ekoore that sell tablet PCs with Ubuntu. They did good work to make Unity interface more comfortable for working on tablets, but their tablets based on Intel Atom. So, they can give us their version of Ubuntu for porting it to ARM.
Ekoore said:
Dear Sir,
you can wait for next week, when we upgrade it to the new version of ubuntu. After this, we can talk about this porting. you have experience in this field?
Best Regards!

You can check the Wiki or the main thread, and set you system up for compiling the source. Unfortunately, Not a lot works yet as far as functionality Device wide.
It's a grand time to learn.

Is Ubuntu Touch also for tablets? I read phones and phablets. I tried to port Firefox OS for the HTC HD2, but failed due to lack of knowledge, incomplete guidance and the phone officially being an WM device.
Since the A51x (and A70x) both are Android devices from it's origin, it should be "easier".
From reading the beginning of the guide I can tell you I can't. I really need a more detailed step-to-step guide to work on something.
I hope there are people out there who are able to port it to the A51x and A70x series.
Edit:
Awesome! A700 owners can try the Ubuntu Touch pre-alpha on their tablets
As far as i can see, the porting guide is for Devices supported by Cyanogenmod, since Ubuntu touch is apparantly based on that. I guess there is some way to port it to the A51x Devices anyway, but i think there would be some major (and probably undocumented) work necessary

MTK6575 Based Devices Cyanogenmod

Hi Guys I Want Someone Who Can Help Me To Build CM For MTK6575 .
I Have LG Optimus L4 II E440 Its MTK6575 Based Device And I Have Source Code .
I Think It Will Work On Other Devices .
Even if you have the source code for that device, you can't just build generically for anything with that processor as even if just one part of the device is changes that part would probably cease to function. Also when it comes to building something like that I'll see what I can do once I have a fully functional computer but the source is like 40 GB so it would be a big investment already just to download it. Which version of cm?

I made some 1.5 based rom at one point for my g1 but I remember like...none of it. Once you read up on building android you should be fine. I'll just warn you you will be working with BIG data, probably around 40gb to download.

Hiteker U804mc

Hey whatsup, thx for the hospitality and for all of your efforts to help the community!
Maybe u can help me with something, Ive been searching tirelessly for a basic/stock android 7.1 rom for my generic chinese tablet. I understand this may not even exist as there is a lack of demand/support for these tablets.
Normally I would spend my time learning to create a custom rom for these tablets but Im currently overseas without access to a computer. How can i go about getting a custom rom developed for these tablets? Are there any people that would do this for money and if so what would this cost?
The tablet is branded as a Hiteker model U804mc, ARM Cortex A53 1.3ghz, Mali T720, with an mt8163 chipset.

If anybody has any feedback that could help it would be appreciated! Also, is it feasible to try and adapt a custom rom using just my phone??? Please point me in the right direction here im no stranger to hard work. Or is this a lost cause?
