One click ENG S-OFF
HTC - Quietly Unlocked
I have created a small and simple tool to S-OFF a Desire HD after it has been permrooted with Visionary. After you have run this tool, you will have an engineering hboot (S-OFF). Remember that making a phone S-OFF is dangerous business, and you use this tool at your own risk! The tool also works with any custom ROM, as long as you have root permissions (and Radio S-OFF, which was required to flash the custom ROM in the first place).
System requirements:
Windows XP SP2 or higher
.NET Framework 3.5
HTC Sync (or ADB drivers)
Desire HD with lower than 1.7x stock ROM OR any custom ROM, tick "I have Radio S-OFF" in the tool
Now that your device is S-OFF, and you can get Rom manager from the market, which will install a ClockWorkMod recovery for you. Just open it up and tap "Flash ClockworkMod recovery".
Mint! This sounds great. So all I need to do is perm root and use your app I sence new ROM and kernal on my device very soon.

Will I have any problems with windows xp 32bit ? As on the other tool people having problems. I'll have to wait till 2orw to try on my dads laptop as I'm guessing its fine on windows 7 64bit ?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Windows 7 64b will definitely not have the AdbWinApi problem, it only seems to affect XP.
I'll give it a try 2orw unless some1 else gives it a go before. Would be nice to have a all in 1 tool (kernal+Rom) but that's jumping the gun abit lol

I fixed the WinXP problem with my Kernel Update Utility, and I think that it will affect this tool, too. I will prepare a new build tomorrow.
so, when this has been tested, will you look at merging this with the other tool you created to offer an even completer '1-click-tool'?
I would like to keep these tools separate, because new users get easily confused. This app is meant for them, to easily gain s-off.

To 'unroot', uninstall Superuser and VISIONary, then either do an RUU or flash the boot and hboot from one.
This is supaaa sweett.. i had been waiting for a tool like this was hoping for unrevoked but it havent came out yet.. thanks for the effort man.. will try it when i got my Desire HD.. (not available yet in malaysia )
So if my rooted DHD doesnt in fact install clockworkmod recovery from the Rom manager (although it does not return any error), could it be because I am not sure if the device S-off-ed?
Could someone please explain the few steps that need to be followed and what to do with the files from the attachment. I can only guess, but I am not sure. THANKS!
I would like to use your app but I have a question ( noob question)
I have to permroot my DHD before with Visionary ?
Thanks a lot !!!

I have an HTC Sensation that I really want to turn S=Off and perma-root real bad but I have not found any method using Mac OS (Snow Leopard) ???? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have fastboot installed on my Mac and have rooted several Nexus S models but this is my first time around with the HTC Sensation.
Your going to have to install either Linux or Windows on the Mac with boot camp, alpharevx doesn't work with Mac and its a completely different can of beans than Nexus s. Nexus s has an unlockable bootloader from factory, sensation doesn't, thus sensation NEEDS alpharevx to unlock the boot loader, s-off, and perma-root

Go to a library or find a person with a PC... it shouldn't be that hard, everyone in the world but you has one...
And this is not the proper place to post this Dawg. Shoulda gone in Q & A, it kinda clutters up the DEV forum if we post threads liek this that don't belong here.
Bootcamp. Or borrow a friend's notebook for like 5-10mins. You won't require it after revolutionary.

PC and your set. It really easy to do.

Hello everyone,
This is my first post and sorry if this question was already answered, but I couldn't find the answer to my particular question when I searched for it. I just recently got my Sensation for T-Mobile a couple weeks ago and rooted it but do not have the S-OFF because of the OTA update to 2.3.4 so I used the HTC unlock method. Is there any way I can get the s-off because I am finding it difficult to flash a lot of ROMs I want to try since a lot of them either never load or they just go into an infinite boot loop? Thanks for all your help and advice and I'm hoping I can gain more knowledge thru you guys since this was a big leap for me from a Blackberry 9700.
I recently rooted my HTC Sensation and got the s off following the directions provided here on xda. Then installed Revolution HD. No issues with that either. I just followed the directions there also. Did it not work for u?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
No, it didn't work for me. My friend told me that the alpharev method used here on the forums wouldn't work because I downloaded the OTA update to 2.3.4 when I first received it out of the box. He told me that only the htc unlock method would work to root my phone but I wouldn't have S-off. My phone is currently rooted right now with no s-off so certain ROMs won't flash or they will butt I'll hey errors in them.
I find that strange. I'm no expert but my Sensation was running stock Android 2.3.4 before I rooted and it reads that s is off. I went to revolutionary.io/ download for Windows filled in the info for the beta key save the zip file and and launch it then enter the beta key. Then just follow the prompts from there. Did u do that?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
Yup, I did exactly that a number of times but it didn't work. That's weird. Maybe someone else on here can help me get full s-off on my sensation. What's your service provider ? Cuz mine is T-Mobile and it came stock 2.3.3 but I did the OTA update and was able to root it but get no s-off
hi,
just to share my experience ... On Asian Starhub
i have updated to 2.3.4 via OTA before i root and s-off, and eventually supercid.
Followed the guide step by step.
The rooting , s-off and supercid process is smooth as butter ( as some dev quoted ).
Flashed Bulletproof 1.4 and now InsertCoin 3.3.0.
Perhaps u can provide more phone details like your current Hboot version and which part of the process you are stuck so that some experienced member can help u out easier.

Same here. 2.3.4 OTA and I am fully rooted with S-Off. Followed the guide step by step. Used Revolutionary.io with no problem. Be sure you enter your beta key in exactly, its case sensative. I'm also on TMOUS.

So it worked ok for the Sensation XE? I'm about to upgrade my phone from the Desire (s-off, root, leedroid hd 3.3.3 data++) and was wondering if the revolutionary route would work (really want the XE!). Had no issues at all with the Desire and would wait to upgrade if there were issues.
Thanks.

Sorry if I'm asking the obvious or if this has already been covered, but did you first go to the HTC dev. site and follow their specific instructions for unlocking the bootloader? If not, do that first, then use Revolutionary to root/s-off, wipe your phone to factory (I always wipe dalvik cache and cache partition, too), then flash whatever ROM and kernel you want.
Let me know if that helps any.

Very cool. Can't wait to upgrade to this phone. Sensation looked great before, but these latest two (LE screen too big for my tastes) are looking amazing!
Ok guys, thanks for the input. I'll be sure to fill you in if I'm havng any difficulties...I'll try it again today.
I'm also on Tmobile 10 plus years. After following the steps and entering the beta key added the Su zip and it kept s off. You are prop missing something in between. Make sure u are entering the right hboot of your phone otherwise the beta key will be incorrect. Did u set up connection to HTC sync when u did it?

Ok guys, I tried getting s-off again tonite. Mind you my phone is already rooted but has s-on. I have a custom ROM flashed on it currently, I ran the revolutionary app and it suddenly closed on me and i also got an unforseen FC on the home screen of the phone. I flashed back to my nandroid backup of my stock rooted ROM and still the same thing. Suggestions? I saw on another post I should try doing this on a different computer. I tried different methods of connecting the phone via usb with mounting it as a drive, charge only, htc sync but to no avail. I did have htc sync running and it did sync up properly.
I tot we should uninstall HTC sync .... Only leave the HTC drivers alone ....
Maybe someone can advise on this ....

Is there specific drivers I need to install? It doesn't say in the guide.
When u install , then uninstall HTC sync . The HTC sync drivers will be removed but HTC drivers remains . That's the drivers we want to keep. Alternatively , u can just install the HTC drivers. But u got to search for it elsewhere. I think its HTC 3.7.0.01 drivers or something .... ( if I can remember correctly )

Do I absolutely have to have the SDK and adb to s-off my phone? I know it sounds dumb, but the only reason I ask is cause I came from the Samsung vibrant forums and I rooted and flashed my vibrant without the need of ANY computer software. All from my phone. I really want to s off my phone, but the instructions are kinda flaky. Good, but flaky. Thank you.

Hi,
The instructions in the s-off guide in my signature are easy to follow.
Using ADB and SDK are really not difficult.
And installing them will help later on when you want to change your radio.
Yes they are needed.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
No, you don't need them.
You can S-OFF your phone using the revolutionary hack. You'll still need a PC with the HTC Sync software installed (ie, the drivers for the phone).
Have a look on http://revolutionary.io/ for tools and instructions.
That said, you might want to look into getting the SDK and ADB later on, if you plan to continue learning about what you can do with this device.
Even though I followed the steps given on htcdev.com was unable to unlock the bootloader. The cmd window kept displaying waiting for device even though i had connected it to the pc.

Just download the latest version of HTC Sync from here. It contains the necessary drivers for Windows 8. Uninstall the current version (if you have installed it)
Also update the Android Platform Tools from SDK Manager
If this doesn't work install drivers with compatibility mode for XP sp3. I was thinking about another thread but this also should do the trick.

There's no risk. Just follow the instructions carefully.
Anyway you have lost your warranty by unlocking bootloader then why can't you install a custom ROM???
