I'm so confused...
So I was on Liquid Smooth Rom and then I did a nandroid with TWR.
Flashed Eclipse but forgot something on the other rom so I backed up Eclipse.
When I went to restore to Liquid Smooth it wasn't an option to restore to..
The paths are.. \SCH-I535\Internal storage\0(maybe this is why?)\TWRP\BACKUPS\0417aa1c which shows two of my back ups
Liquidsmooth and Miui. both of which do not show up in twr.
Then under SCH-I535\Internal storage\TWRP\BACKUPS\0417aa1c
There is nothing.
But... When I go into twr it only shows my back up of eclipse..I can't find the files for ecliipse in the file manager otherwise I would just move everything over...
I very confused...
Thanks
Maybe one was set to internal storage and the other to external?

Now I did just run a nandroid and it said in terminal that it was backing up to data/media/twrp/backups/0417a
I can't find that and every TWRP folder doesn't have any files in it..

I could be wrong, but if LiquidSmooth is based on 4.2, your data is moved to 0 to support multi-users. In TWRP or CWM, whenever I tried to restore a nandroid that was saved in the 0 folder, the custom recovery did not look in the 0 folder and could not pull up this nandroid as an option to restore
Thus, if you want to restore something that is in your 0 folder, I believe that you'd have to move your backup from the 0\TWRP (or CWM) folder to the TWRP (or CWM) folder. Let me know if I am wrong.

Long story short I accidentally deleted my sd cards contents by partitioning it. I luckily have a CWM backup saved to my computer. So I just dragged the file to my sd card via my Mac. When I go into CWM and try to do an advanced restore I get "Couldn't open directory no files found". Simple fix if someone could tell me the proper name of the folder and where it needs to be. As always any help will get you a great big THANKS.
/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
Thanks for that. In my desire to get organized I renamed the folder CWM Recovery. I'll put it back to normal and let you no how it goes.
ok np bro let me know how it goes
Worked like a charm. All my apps are back. Thanks for the quick reply. Must of been some pretty advanced artillery!
lol...nope just the good smell of that wolf pus**. (if your wondering, its an artillery thang)

WOW. My very first thread has come back from the dead. Sweet.
deeprocks,
Not really sure what your trying to do or what version of recovery your using. But for CWM it will always be under clockworkmod/backup. I am not familiar with your device but if you have internal and external storage the newer versions of CWM let you select where to backup too/restore from. Look into that. Also try asking this question in your phones sub-forum. Good luck.
When ever I change roms it deletes all backups, and even deletes clockwork mod recovery. I have no idea what is going on. This didn't happen on my gnex. I have a 2 gig memory card in it. How can I put all backups and recovery on the card? It deletes the rom folder I create to put all the roms in. I have to create the folder every time I change roms. This is anoying as hell. Please help. Thanks

I think your doing something wrong because it shouldn't do that, what ROM hase it done that in? And what at our steps to flashing? As to backups on your sd car when you go to backup there an option to back up to external so card.

I was running jellywiz, and I flashed the executioner. I had to reinstall cwm. And I had to create the roms folder again, the folder where I keep my downloaded roms. As for flashing roms, I do a factory reset, wipe davlik, and cache. It's kind of annoying having to recreate everything. Thanks

Did you flash a 4.2 ROM??? It does that if you don't use an updated recovery.
You are definitely doing something wrong because that is not expected behavior.
A 2GB SD card is ridiculously undersized for backups. A single nandroid or TiBu would likely take all of that space if it even fit. Perhaps it's failing to backup to the external card and defaulting back to internal memory?

I would recommend at least a 16G sdcard. You need that much to stores backups, stock boot rom, custom rom, and you data files to restore. Things like contacts, calendar, etc should always be backed up before you install custom ROM.
CWM is a good boot loader to use as it provides many options and also use something like Titanium backup as your backup manager.
If you do a data reset from the updated recovery will it delete the directory on the internal SDCard where the backup of the stock ROM is?

What recovery are you talking about? If it's cwm touch no it doesn't! I factory reset every time I flash a new ROM (and I'll flash a couple a day sometimes) the only way you'll delete those in recovery is if you manually delete a backup or if you go under the mounts and storage menu and format internal SD card.

So I am talking about the clockworkmod stock rom backup. When I backup it puts the backup in the following location which I will call LocA:
/mnt/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/
This is not my SD card tho. My external SDCard is located at which I will call LocB:
/mnt/extSdCard/
But I also have which I will call LocC:
/sdcard/
I when I go to look at the ‘Phone’ while connected to USB I can see LocA and see the backups, when I use the app SDCard Manager I can go to LocC and I can see that they mirror each other. Why is my stuff duplicated? It is wasting space?
Also when I boot into CWM recovery the menu that says load from SD card actually points to LocA. My fear is that since LocA is really internal memory that a factory reset will delete this and since CWM recovery cant see LocB that I will be locked out. In other words cant load the backup of the mod or the new downloaded CM10.

Okay gotcha, a factory reset does not delete your internal memory. What it deletes is your user apps, settings, etc. That is the same place mine is backed up to and like I said I factory reset every flash. However, if you're really worried about under the backup option in cwm select backup to external SD card.
As for the sd card 0 and SD card. I don't believe there are really two files of everything. I believe it's more just naming for the android system, but maybe someone else can confirm this for me

Hi everyone, I recently installed cyanogen 10.1 for my note 10.1 N8010. It wouldn't install through CWM so I tried to install twrp through goo manager. It couldn't find a custom recover for my device so I flashed it through Odin. I was running android freedom at the time and had a nandroid of it. I wiped data in twrp, it said it would wipe data and cache only so I went ahead. After cyanogen flashed successfully I tried it out and downloaded titanium backup to restore my apps, they weren't there!!! Every restore option had a zero beside it, I checked the titanium backup folder to no avail. I decided to restore to android revolution as I had a backup. When I went to restore there were no files. No backup. I checked the clockworkmod folder and found the file but when I click properties it says - where size should be. Please help me as this is not my fault and I have a lot of important data in the backup. :crying:

Just check on your internal memory , there should be a folder named "0" , if you have this you will find all your titanium backup & CWM folder inside.

I flashed a 4.2 ROM. PA 3.10 to be exact. And it did the thing with the 0 and legacy folders it needed to do for the multi-user feature. I didn't like it and I'm back on 4.1. My ROM is really confused because the folder structure is still on 4.2. Anyway to get the folder directory back to normal 4.1?
I thought I put this in Q&A, I do apologize. If a mod comes along could you move it?

In Root Explorer (or whatever root explorer you use) you can simply copy the CWM folder from /mnt/sdcard/0 to mnt/sdcard. After moving all the data you wish to keep from the 0 folder to the sdcard folder you could delete the 0 folder.
what is /0? I found the files but don't know what this means? I am still such a noob after all these years!

Ok I did a backup to the external sd card and found it. Then went into root manager and copied one of the backups that I couldn't access and moved it into the new backup folder on the external sd card. Renamed it to just the date like the new one....in other words took the word 'copy' out of the name. And I got to restore to my previous back up!!!!!! Yes Yes Yes!!!! Thanks for ya'll's help!! Now flash twrp and see if you have the same problems.
