Salutations folks,
Just posting some preview screenshots of some work I've been doing on the Alpha2.
CyanogenMod9 (ICS) and ClockWorkMod Recovery 6.0.1.1
It's still a work in progress as I fix various issues and bugs I've come across, but it's
slowly but surely getting to the point of being stable and usable for daily use. When
it gets stable enough, I will post the rom and install files for public consumption/testing.
Running:
CM9 ICS 4.0.4
3.0.36 custom kernel w/modules specific to alpha2 and feature testing usb gadgets (bluetooth, etc.)
NOTE: currently working on upgrading to 3.0.38/3.0.39 kernel
CWMR 6.0.1.1 (koush's latest) w/fully working menu options, backup/restore, key use for menus
NOTE: currently working on implementing touch menu control
Tested/Working:
Camera (stills, video)
Microphone
Rotation sensor
Wi-fi
Hardware keys (VOL+, VOL-, POWER)
Video (software accelerated, 720p)
Touchscreen
Internal/External sdcards
USB Storage mounting
ADB access/control
Bugfixing:
Camera Zoom controls
Video (hardware acceleration possible on cedarx?)
Touchscreen capacitive buttons (MENU, BACK, HOME)
USB Storage Mounting in CWM6 (adb works fine tho)
Screenshots (click to zoom):
custom compiled CWMR 6.0.1.1 (latest) with custom background, menu colour and clockwork icon
CM9 info menu - little fuzzy, sorry about that
in-UI screenshot of CM9 info menu
CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY
(Updated to 6.0.1.2), Install scripts updated to Version 1.1
As mentioned in another post, I'm releasing the CWM install for public consumption. Please be aware that due to the issues with my SSA2, that
I will probably not be updating this much. This CWM install is mainly for nandroids, etc. Support will be LIMITED, but this recovery mode should
work fine as is. I will NOT be taking requests for features or my CM9/CM10 roms until I can get my SSA2 working 100% again or another one
falls in my lap. (sorry). BUT, github access to the kernel, recovery and CM9 is publicly available. Get coding, if you want it.

ClockWorkMod-based Recovery by
[ DISCLAIMER ] --------------------------------------------------------------------
First and foremost, please note that by using or installing these files that
you will not hold me () responsible if you brick/ruin
your device in any way. Although every attempt has been made to prevent
this from happening, there is always a chance something can go wrong.
(Luckily, if something does go wrong Livesuite reflashing can usually
fix it, although you will most likely lose any data/settings stored on your
device).
[ CHANGELOG ]--------------------------------------------------------------------
1.0 - 11/03/2012 - Initial CWM install release
1.1 - 11/04/2012 - Add Version A/B script.bins since there are gyro differences
- Consolidate batch install files/add a little choice logic too
- Menu system for install, backups, reboot
[ INTRODUCTION ]-----------------------------------------------------------------
These are simple install scripts and files to install ClockworkMod Recovery
into your SSA2 (Skytex Skypad Alpha2). If you don't know what CWM is for,
please do NOT proceed; you don't need it then (except for maybe nandroid
backups.. but seriously.. if you don't know what it's for. STOP)
This recovery requires the following things:
1. You have USB drivers properly installed for accessing your SSA2
2. You have already upgraded to Skytex's ICS (4.0) via Livesuite
Upgrading your SSA2 to Skytex's ICS will cover both #1 and #2.
If you have not already upgraded, you MUST do so now or the recovery
install will FAIL and/or screw with your SSA2 settings. If you have not
already done so, go to: http://goo.gl/WqZTi
(that's just a shortened link.. if you don't trust it.. go to skytex's site
yourself and go to the firmware download area for the SSA2
and install the appropriate 4.0 firmware/livesuite for your device)
PLEASE NOTE: Upgrading your SSA2 to ICS is beyond the scope of this
document and something YOU need to take care. Have fun!
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE SKYTEX ICS INSTALLED, STOP! YOU CANNOT USE THIS!
Rule of Thumb: Backup your settings/files using TitaniumBackup or some
other app before starting big installs like this!
[ INSTRUCTIONS ]---------------------------------------------------------------
Firstly, settle on WHERE you want to install everything. You have a choice of
the internal SDcard or the external (removable) SDcard. Please be aware that
if you install to the internal SDcard, there's a chance you might have to
reinstall everything if you wipe/reflash your device as the internal SDcard is
usually wiped too. The external SDcard is usually left untouched. I'd
recommend the external SDcard if you have a removable card installed.
Based on that choice, run the following:
Note: The install process is fairly documented and verbose, please note
any errors that may arise if something goes wrong.
1. Run the "INSTALL-RECOVERY.bat" batch script
a. Select the appropriate menu options and submenu options.
That's it!
HOW TO ACCESS CWM RECOVERY
-------------------------------------
Please note that ADB REBOOT RECOVERY command will NOT work with
Skytex's ICS (sorry).. it should work fine with AOSP, AOKP, CM9 and CM10 tho.
From ADB (your PC):
With your SSA2 on, Open up a command prompt, if you don't have adb installed globally,
adb has been provided with the install scripts, just go to that directory and run:
adb shell sh /system/bin/reboot-recovery.sh
From a Terminal (your SSA2):
With your SSA2 on, Open up a command prompt (must be in root, su):
sh /system/bin/reboot-recovery.sh
Hardware Keys access (if installed via install scripts):
With your SSA2 OFF (and recommended unconnected to power or usb, as being in charge
mode sometimes disrupts the recovery mode boot process when using the hardware keys.
Otherwise.. if you are in charge mode (shows big battery icon in middle of screen), just
hold down the POWER button until it goes off/away)
1. Hold down the VOL UP key for 5 seconds
2. While holding the VOL UP key, hold down the POWER button for 5 seconds.
3. While still holding the VOL UP key, release the POWER button. Keep holding the VOL UP
key for 5 more seconds.
4. Release the VOL UP key.
Your SSA2 should already be or should start booting into recovery mode shortly thereafter.
If you SSA2 boots back into ICS, it did not succeed (duh), try again.

Sorry for the lack of updates on this one folks.
I ran into an issue with my alpha2 where I somehow flushed the ft5x (touchscreen) EEPROM and was not able to to get a proper firmware flashed in there to get it working 100% again. Tried contacting Skytex and Focaltech with no luck. (even disassembled the alpha2 to get full model info on the chips in there.. have lots of pics if anyone is interested in seeing the insides of the alpha2). Finally got touchscreen back using a firmware designed for another model of the touchscreen controller in the alpha2, but having issue with needing to calibrate it properly since all touches are showing up 50 degrees off. Focaltech and their docs don't have any info on calibration so I'm kinda stuck for now til I get a chance to hack through the ft5x kernel drivers. Since I'm kneedeep in college studies and exams, I haven't had time. Compounded with the fact that I also have an Acer Iconia Tab a500 now, development on the alpha2 will probably grind to a slow drip.
In the meantime, I've updated all my github repo's (http://github.com/thesawolf) with the device setup for cm9, specific cm9 build stuff as well as working kernel. So if someone is willing, you can "easily" work off of that. I'm hesitant to release the cm9 rom I put together as it is unfinished and in a very functional, but still raw form (need lots of framework tweaks and some more build.prop tweaks) but the cwm recovery works fine and fully functional and a good place to start working from (and if anything for the nandroid backups). I can put that up on dropbox later if anyone interested. Please be aware that there are LOTS of good guides and writeups for compiling your own cm9 roms. Please don't ask me to tell you how. Search and Google is your friend.
Anyways, good luck folks. Hopefully I'll have some better news for everyone once I have more time to goof around on my alpha2 (when I'm not working on my a500 too)

Install scripts and files have been updated to acommodate the fact that the SSA2's have a Version A and Version B difference that was resulting in an issue with gyroscope use on VersB boards with the VersA-based bootloader settings. Have corrected it and created a menu system for the install scripts to handle backup, internal vs. external install options, rebooting into recovery, etc. with the new bootloader settings too. Please re-download the newer version of the install scripts if you are having any issues (and just to have them handy). Enjoy. (updating main post)
Great work. Installed it on this old tab!
Rooting procedure for SAMSUNG Galaxy Pocket Plus ( GT-S5301 )
WARNING!!! This solution provided as is (with no warranty of any kind). Be careful because the described operations rather dangerous and possibly can brick your device. Author is not responsible for your device damage.
IMPORTANT: Usage of this method will affect the state of the "Custom BIN down" counter in your device. This means that you may have problems with official warranty.
OTHER NOTICES: Solution based on ICS 4.0.4 Russian Stock firmware. It will not affect the data on your device (contacts, files etc.). No wipe\hard reset needed.
Step 1. Getting software
1. Download Odin 3.0.7 here
2. Download modified stock recovery here
3. Download update package for rooting here (downloaded from here Thanks to Phil3759)
4. Install Samsung drivers\kies from this page
P.S. Sorry for ugly file storage solution - google drive. If it will open the zip archive just click "File" menu and click "Download" (or use Ctrl+S combo).
Step 2. Flash the updates
1. Switch off the device. Hold "volume down"+"home" buttons and press power button. When device switch on release the power button but continue to hold volume down and home until Download mode warning appear. Plug in the USB cable and press volume up button to continue. The device will load in ODIN download mode.
2. Run ODIN 3.0.7. Don't change any setting (checkboxes ) - leave them in default state. Your device should appear in "ID:COM" part of the screen as serial device (i.e. "COM38") - if not check if your USB port is functional and Samsung drivers installed correctly.
3. Click on PDA button and chose modified recovery file saved during step 1.2. Don't rename or decompress the file - otherwise it will not work.
Wait until ODIN decompress the package and check the checksums. After it just press START button and wait until the process is over.
4. Copy update package for rooting on SD card and put the card in device's slot.
5. Switch off your device again. Hold "volume up"+"home" buttons and press power button to switch on. Don't release volume up and home until the recovery loaded. Using volume up and volume down buttons navigate to menu item "apply update from external card" and press power button to commit operation. Then navigate to Root_Superuser_3.1.3......zip file and press power button again.
6. Done. Your device should be rooted now. You can check it with various free programs like Root Checker available at Google Play.
You can restore the stock recovery using the same flashing procedure as described above. The stock recovery image is available here
====================
Additional notices:
- I will upload the full stock firmware repacked for ODIN in a couple of days. You can use it to restore your device to default state (except the Custom BIN down counter).
- If the counter really bothering you - just wait a little - I'll upload pre-rooted system partition package which does not affect the counter.
- Do not try just blindly install the CWM or TWRP recovery packages made for another devices. It will not work and can cause some problems because at least one difference is crucial - recovery.fstab file in most of cases will contain wrong information about partitions so you can brick your device. Now I'm working on porting CWM recovery for s5301 and I hope it will not take much time.
Take care

2013-05-27 UPDATE: CWM recovery (GUI issues) ***THIS ONE IS OBSOLETE - USE NEXT SECTION BELOW "UPDATE: Working CWM recovery (GUI problems fixed)"***
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CWM Recovery for S5301 (coriplus) is now available. Unfortunately there is still an issue with screen resolution but I suppose I'll fix it very soon. Despite an uncomfortable picture those people who needs backup\restore feature urgently can use it right now. Everything seems to be functional but if you discover some issues - please let me know.
1. Fakeflash zip image is here. Use it from previousely flashed Hacked Stock recovery: pure stock recovery will not load it.
To run it - put the update.zip to sdcard, boot to recovery, navigate to "apply update from external card" and choose the update.zip. Done! Now you are in CWM recovery and you can backup\restore your system. After rebooting the recovery you will see the Hacked Stock recovery again (this is what fakeflash means - CWM loads in memory but after reboot you have your old recovery again. So keep the update.zip on SD card to use it again).
2. ODIN image is here. This one for those who really hates the stock recovery and ready to run CWM permanently even with ugly screen resolution. Flsh with ODIN as described above.
When I fix the screen resolution I'll inform you about it here.
Enjoy.

2013-06-13 UPDATE: The way how to get device rooted and CWM recovery flashed without affecting the counter
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a way to get root and CWM recovery without affecting the down bin counter:
Step 1: Flash the pre-rooted system partition via ODIN (it will not affect the counter and will not erase your personal data). Now you have rooted device but it is still has useless stock recovery.
Step 2: Copy recovery.img on SD card and insert it in your device.
Step 3: Turn the device on, wait untill OS loaded. Go to Settings -> Developer options and switch on the Usb Debugging.
Step 4: Connect USB cable, choose "Camera PTP" in USB PC Connection menu on your device - this menu appeares in notification area (that's important to get your sdcard mounted).
Step 5: Go to console on your PC and execute the following commands:
$ adb shell
:/ $ su
:/ # dd if=/mnt/extSdCard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6
Voila! You have your device rooted, you have CWM recovery flashed and the down bin counter wasn't affected.

2013-06-13 UPDATE: Russian Stock Firmware S5301XXAMC1 repacked for ODIN
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, I didn't have an external sd card at this moment so what I did was flash CWM and then sideload the root package, pretty simple, so you can add this method as an alternative, it worked pretty good.

1) All fakeflash versions does not affect the counter (only the ODIN flashed images do it).
2) All fakeflashes are temporary (just loading in memory and active until reboot).
3) Unfortunately the stock recovery doesn't aloow to load CWM fakeflash or rooting package, so you need to flash CWM or at least hacked stock recovery via ODIN (an this operation will definitely affect the counter).
Take care

Obviously the sideload should work ok as it is one of CWM features After you flashed CWM you can use all its' tools - sdcard is just simple common scenario. Anyways thanks for feedback - I'll add notice regarding adb sideload in the main post )

Almost forget - I've uploaded the prerooted system.img as I promised (check 2013-06-08 UPDATE section of the main post in this thread).
Use ODIN to flash this image (PDA section).
It will not affect the counter. All your applications and personal data will survive because they are on another partition, but anyway It's strictly recommended to make a backup copy before flasing. As a result you'll get the rooted device without replacing stock recovery and without affecting the "down bin counter".

Actually the first post in this thread contains step-by-step description of rooting process. And it should work for any s5301 device. But judging by the signature of your post, you have s5300 device which is copletely different. So I suppose you have to search this forum for solution developed exactly for your device...

GUIDE: HOW TO INSTALL/UPDATE ROM WITHOUT STATUS 7 ERRORS
p.s this guide is totally noob friendly and to the best of what I could explain. But then again, I don't mind replying to kindergarten-noob level queries either.
Okay, this is for those who face these Status 7 Errors, don't panic, I found a partial-but-working fix. Your phone is not corrupted. Just follow these steps to get out:
Method 1:
1) You can simply quit Recovery Mode and go back to using your ROM as it is (that is only if you haven't Wiped Data).
2) Once you're phone's booted, download ROM Manager from the Play Store
3) Using USB Mass Storage, copy the ROM (zip) file to your internal drive.
4) Then (obviously) unplug/turn-off the USB Mass Storage mode and go to the ROM Manager app.
5) Click on Install ROM from SD Card (which means internal over here, idk why) and select the ROM. Ignore step 6 if you don't want to backup.
6) This is optional, but if you wish to come back to this ROM later click on Backup
7) Click on wipe-data if you're upgrading to another ROM (from CM10.1>CM10.2 or CM10.2>CM11) or ignore this step if you're flashing a new build (nightly/alpha)
8) The ROM will be flashed and you're good to go. If you're upgrading to a new nightly/alpha build, ignore step 8.
ONLY IF YOU'RE UPDATING TO ANOTHER ROM:
Just before the bootanimation, be ready to take out your battery and go to recovery mod with the combo keys (Volume Up+Power) and flash Gapps. (Preferably from this)
Method 2only works if you are updating to another nightly/build of the same ROM)
4) Reboot to Recovery
5) Flash the zip and reboot to recovery, again, and flash Gapps. (Preferably from this)
Oh and make sure to go to this thread and thank them for the gapps

This is a short and to the point breakdown on how to root the Cricket I337Z - I337ZTUUBOA3. I have done the following to my own device with 100% success.
Since I'm new to the forum, I can not post links, so here is the breakdown of the files used.
Heimdall Suite (Current)
Zadig (Current)
ClockworkMod (Standard) - 6.0.4.7-jfltecri.img
OR (both work)
ClockworkMod (Touch) - 6.0.4.7-jfltecri.img
SuperSU - UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
- Use USB 2.0 port.
- Install Samsung USB drivers.
- Copy UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46 to SD card.
- Boot the Galaxy S4 into download mode (Vol Dwn + Pwr Up).
- Run zadig.exe from the Drivers folder of the Heimdall Suite.
- Choose Options > List All Devices from the menu.
- Select MSM8x60.
- Click Install Driver.
- If prompted with a warning the installer is unable to verify the publisher of the driver, select Install this driver anyway. Further prompts about security may pop-up, select the options which allow the installation to continue.
- Place recovery image in heimdall folder: heimdall flash --RECOVERY recovery --no-reboot. There are two recovery images in the ZIP file. Both are ClocwordMOD 6.0.4.7, one is standard the other is the touch version.
- Reboot into recovery mode (Vol Up + Pwr Dwn).
- Select 'install zip'.
- Select 'choose zip from /storage/sdcard1'.
- Select 'UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip'.
- Reboot phone. Recovery may prompt to repair SU. Selecting yes or no, seems to make no difference.
- Phone now has ClockworkMod recovery and SuperSU.
- When SuperSU runs the first time, it will indicate Samsung KNOX is found and will ask to disable it.
- Use root checker to verify.
Thanks for taking the time to read/view/comment, etc..

GOLDENEYE | XXUHOD7 LOLLiPOP
Since I'm still a new user, I can't post a reply in the development thread. I have installed and am currently using GOLDENEYE | XXUHOD7 LOLLiPOP on the Cricket I337Z - I337ZTUUBOA3.

i337z jfltea10 tuuboa3 - ROM ?
Did it differently, but I am rooted as well. Added a couple of modules from Xposed so I could customize individual icons on status bar but thats it. Need a ROM and Cyanogen and Samsung are not bothering with our variant. Just curious, did you install a Custom ROM and if so which one and how were you able to do it??

There is a Cricket Cyanogen 11 - https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=jfltecri
You can use the AT&T Cyanogen but it takes some tweaking to get it all right.
My second post in this thread: "Since I'm still a new user, I can't post a reply in the development thread. I have installed and am currently using GOLDENEYE | XXUHOD7 LOLLiPOP on the Cricket I337Z - I337ZTUUBOA3."
Not to be rude, but I'm going to. Reading the thread would have prevented this question about running a custom rom. Using Google would have also found the Cyanogen variant. Even Cyanogen's own forum has the information: Cyanogenmod 12 on SGH-I337Z(Cricket) - http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/120304-cyanogenmod-12-on-sgh-i337zcricket/
I got rooted with a little easier way. I just booted in to download mode, odin'ed TWRP on to the phone. Once I re-booted I booted in to recovery and flashed a SuperSU zip file I had. I was rooted in 5 minutes, just thought I would share. I am currently running the a GPE Rom on the phone and it runs great.
The TWRP I used is here https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxys4cricket.html
I did see the jfltcri on the CM site but jfltcri is not the i337z,it is another Cricket S4 altogether. Something like a 900ish model. If you say the Cm jfltcri works I will try it. I can retell you when I flashed the unified jfltea10 it failed and specifically stated and listed each variant but mine that this ROM was for, and this device is jfltea10". It listed jfltetexx etc (every model but the jfltea10), which is what the i337z TUUBOS3 is. Frustrating.

For clarification the unified CM 11 ROM I tried flashing that failed was jflte

I installed the Cricket CM 11 jfltcri variant and everything works fine, but phone dialer. Dialer touch pad freezes after dialing. Tried clean reinstall, but no change.
With the assistance of trentag1988. I was able to install unified CM11 jflte , as well as CM 12.1. jfleatt and also jflte. All using CWM. Better yet I just installed CM13 nightly jfltexx and everything is working. Trick is to use CWM recovery, not the Cyanogen Mod recovery, installed but ROM did not function right. CM recovery is useless because it doesn't have back up capabilities anyway. Only issue was I did lose root, but to correct just flash Super 2.62 zip. Not 2.52.May have to reboot or reflash the ROM but again it's working great, so far anyway over last full day using it extensively. Fingers crossed. Also was able to back up with CWM. Only things I don't know is if it will restore from backup but do not see any reason why not. And auto update works as far as checking, but because I used latest nightly there are no updates to install and confirm.
Excellent, great progress.
Thanks. It's been a journey. Only one glitch thus far. Manage apps in settings is hit or miss.
how do i get cmw to put on my s4?
At this time it isn't possible if your phone is from Cricket and model is Galaxy S4 SGH-I337Z.
