Hi guys,
Is there a possibility to get the basic image editing software that the standard Note 5.3' has? If I want to take a screenshot and use the SPen to circle or highlight something, I have to do it through Photoshop which is annoying, inaccurate and time consuming.

There are two ways you can get a similar editing tool on the 10.1:
1) Long press on the screen that you want to capture with the button pressed on the S-pen (I found this way also catches the little cursor if enabled which I don't like)
2) Long press on the screen capture icon for the screen you want to capture. (My prefered method)
Both of the above methods will load an image editer/snipper which has a pen tool as well as an eraser tool and you will not need to use photoshop.
Another little trick is if the crop tool is the rectangular one, you can select the lasso tool by long pressing the rectangle tool and then select the lasso tool to highlight a specific area that you want to capture. It would have been nice if this was an app that could be loaded from the app menu.
Odd I have the same functionality on my Note 10.1 as i have on the 5.3, that is if I take a screenshot with the pen it will open up the screenshot in edit mode.

Wow cool, I was not aware of the long press the screen capture icon... Thanks for the tip...
For me it opens it up in the gallery, that's why I'm asking...

That is strange, did you try both methods I described in my previous post? If you don't long press and capture using the button at the bottom, it goes to a choice of either gallery or Photoshop. The pen method should take you straight to the editor and not gallery/Photosop unless you have something or a setting wrong somewhere.
True, it is working. Thanks a lot.

Need to change the function of the right soft key and open the following files
edited -> CY8C-touchkey.kl and projector-keypad.kl
You make a backup of the original files.
These are at -> / system / usr / keylayout (root required)
CY8C-touchkey.kl
Write behind key 249 MENU VIRTUAL (delete the word APP_SWITCH write the word MENU ).
The same make in this file ->
projector-keypad.kl
Then a reboot and the right soft key opens the menu and not the last used apps.
If you like it, hit thanks
Worked perfectly. Thanks a lot. I searched for this for a long time now! Is there any way to bind the multitasking to the home button (long press)? And do you know a way to remove the three dot menu?

Edit the file: /system/build.prop
Add: qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to the bottom of the build.prop file
Do a reboot and the three dot menu is gone,The three dot menu button will appear if the app has not coded for a menu button.
Why not use the option in display gestures AMD buttons to change 3rd button function

I don't get it, sorry.
Go to "Settings" -> "Display, Finger(...) and Buttons" -> "Button for last Apps"
Or something like that, i only got the german version and translated my Menu.
There you got the Option to remap the Right Softkey and you can save the effort of this tutorial.
I guess you have 4.0.4 because I can't find that in on my device (I have 4.0.3)

You're right, i've got the 4.0.4 it could be a 4.1 sense function.
Mh ... it's a mess they didn't implement it directly in the first release.
And the bad thing is: I can't update I have a S3 device.
Hey all,
Updated my canadian wifi note to jb last night via OTA. Super happy with the new performance and features, especially the multi app. I noticed that s note has changed a bit and the pdf import now works! However now when I use the handwriting to text productivity tool it does nothing. I write a word and it does nothing. The shape detection and frmula still work but not the text. Anyone else notice this?
I also noticed that the quick symbol view with the exclamation mark above the comma no longer opens when long pressed. The question mark above the period still works but not the other. Anyone else?

I'm not sure but I've read somewhere else that this kind of problem is related to the language pack that must be downloaded again:
"Settings - Language and input - Samsung keyboard (settings) - Input languages" -> select the language(s) to download
There's a handwriting to text option?
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk 2
Yep, hold the little cog wheel and it should show 3 options, settings, a pen for handwriting and a keyboard icon. As stated above you need to download the language pack if the pen icon isn't present...
No that is handwriting input, which I wasn't having problems with. That is on the system keyboard. I was referring to the handwriting to text productivity tool in S-Note which was still showing up but wouldnt convert my writings to text.
However, the language update did fix it so thank you very much Sphere! If anyone else has this problem just follow Sphere314's instructions!
I also figured out whats up with the quick symbols on the exclamation and question mark keys, Samsung just changed it a little. They took the two popups away and combined them into one on the ? key (long press) with access to the full symbols list from there. The popup on the ! key is gone but you can get a ! by using shift.

There is..... goto top right corner of browser and tap button that looks like 3 lines (options) / settings / labs / enable quick controls.

Is it just me or is the hotspot app icon missing from the apps tray? I did a factory reset and it still not there. I can start it from the settings menu but i would like a shortcut on the start screen at least. Any ideas?

I am rooted. My search for notification icon or shortcut for hotspot in xda has come up short. If anyone has a link to a fix, that would be appreciated.

1. Open up SQLite Editor - Select the Apps tab on top and scroll down until you see Settings Storage and click it.
2. Click on settings.db
3. Click on system
4. Click on the search icon on top right
5. Type in the word notification in the Filter Value field and click ok
6. Once the results load up, tap on notification_panel_active_app_list (should be 3rd from the bottom result) and click on the pencil icon on top to edit
7. In the Value field, you'll see all your toggles listed. All you have to do is add the word WiFiHotspot right after “Wifi”<-- just like that with a semi colon right after. Make sure there's no space after the semi colon. Once you add WiFiHotspot, click the save button.
8. Close SQLite editor and reboot your phone and verify
