[Q] Hotspot app missing - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it just me or is the hotspot app icon missing from the apps tray? I did a factory reset and it still not there. I can start it from the settings menu but i would like a shortcut on the start screen at least. Any ideas?

I am rooted. My search for notification icon or shortcut for hotspot in xda has come up short. If anyone has a link to a fix, that would be appreciated.

1. Open up SQLite Editor - Select the Apps tab on top and scroll down until you see Settings Storage and click it.
2. Click on settings.db
3. Click on system
4. Click on the search icon on top right
5. Type in the word notification in the Filter Value field and click ok
6. Once the results load up, tap on notification_panel_active_app_list (should be 3rd from the bottom result) and click on the pencil icon on top to edit
7. In the Value field, you'll see all your toggles listed. All you have to do is add the word WiFiHotspot right after “Wifi”<-- just like that with a semi colon right after. Make sure there's no space after the semi colon. Once you add WiFiHotspot, click the save button.
8. Close SQLite editor and reboot your phone and verify

The flashable zip that unlocks the native hotspot. I will test later tonight, and will definitely give you credit, thx.

Hit the Application button, then Menu. Hit View Type and select Customizable Grid. Then hit Menu again and select Edit. You can now change the dock icons to whatever you want.

Wow nice. Found this topic on accident but I am really glad I did.
I didn't know you could move your bottom apps around.

Adding toggles to my notification pull-down area

The attached picture is how my notification area looks
I got a settings button on top-right of screen, it opens settings app.
But the settings app starts slowly, and usually used up so much ram.
After I closed the settings app and back to my previous using app, It's already closed and restarting.
Is there any way to add a button and a page then when I tap on it, the notification area will switch to the added page with the toggles like WiFi and brightness or something?
Sorry for my bad English...

You can root your device and install "xposed framework" + the module "gravity box". Gravity box provides features to change quicksetting toggles. May work, may not. Just try it if you're bored

I know the module, but my HTC Desire 200 stock Rom is ICS 4.0.3, gravity box supports only JB and up.
I can't figure out any other method than mod systemui.apk and framework-res.apk right now.
Ps. There's no working recovery and newer Rom for this phone now and maybe forever

[Q] How to remove AT&T carrier text

I use xposed framework with the G3 tweaksbox module and you can remove the carrier text with that.

There's another way to do it without xposed. Simply download build.prop editor and change "ro.build.target_operator" from ATT to OPEN.

It gets rid of a lot of changes ATT has done to the software. It gets rid of the annoying AT&T text on the status bar and enables the option to change between LTE, 3g, 2g for mobile data. Also enables brightness and volume slider and much more.

Are you using Straight Talk? In my experience, that is what comes up as the carrier text when using ST. Either of the two methods mentioned here should remove that.

Thanks, I was able to remove HOME icon, yes I am using ST.
Just a heads up: I removed the AT&T logo via build prop editor as previously discussed today and lost the ability to access the dialer hidden menu. As soon as I went back and put AT&T as the carrier, saved the changes to the build prop and rebooted, the logo is back but now I can once again use the dialer hidden menu.

What is the dialer hidden menu? I am not too crazy about the two sliders being permanently displayed and occupying 30% of the notification pull-down.
The dialer hidden menu is accessed by dialing 3845#*850#

[GUIDE] Native Download Booster Settings (No Root)

A lot of people have been having trouble finding out how to enable download booster and until a developer makes a mod to enable the native settings in your settings this is the only wave I know of to be able to do so.
In order to do this you will need to use a third party launcher. In this example I use Nova Launcher - launchers like Apex should work as well (as well as most decent third party launchers).
1. Go to home screen.
2. Hold down your finger on the screen till menu pops up.
3. Click on Shortcuts.
4. Click on Activities.
5. Scroll down to "Settings" and click on it which will open up a long list of things.
6. Scroll through the list till you find Download Booster. Click on it.
7. Now you will have a shortcut on your home screen that will take you to the download booster settings screen.
8. Enable download booster.
9. Enjoy
P.S. Wasn't 100% what forum to put this under as it's obviously not "development" nor did I think it was general or Q/A so I thought here was the most fitting (as it is kinda an "app" I guess?) - mods feel free to move to this to the appropriate forum if need be.

There's also an app on the play store called activity launcher that will work to open and/or create the shortcut as well.

Also like the S5 from Sprint its there but thats all it is until someone can get it working. When its working it will show both download speeds and show the icon as bright not grey. Unless its working for someone else i just know its not for me same issue with s5 until someone modded it.
I understand what this does, but what is the benefits of enabling this? Does this interfere with Wifi calling?

Heads up, the Galaxy Tools app in the playstore will add the native icon to the quick settings in the notification bar....just select "Add all Notification Toggles"....throws a few extra in there as well
Works
Its there but don't "work"
I found some other settings that were thought to be lost to this phone. Smart scroll, and hand gesture call answering. Do the same thing, shortcuts, activities, settings, smart scroll and air gesture.

Notification toggles?

Is the any build.prop edits we can do to add some more notification toggles? I know on my note 3 there are a few that could be added.

You could always use the app called power toggles to add some more. It's a great app I used to use on my moto x that had no toggles at all

I like the toggles samsung use. Just wondering if I could add any. I remember on the note 3 that they didn't have the WiFi toggle but we were able to add it in by editing build.prop along with a few others.

This app is really for sprint users but it will enable all available toggles except for flashlight.
You will lose the flashlight toggle. You can delete the app after enabling the toggles if you wish.

You could try this. I enabled all the toggles with the app. Edited the provider settings database in system/data/data and got the flashlight back. Here is mine if you want to copy it into yours. Just take the folder out of the zip and copy it over.
Oh, I also changed the scroll limit from 10 to 31 for all toggles
Awesome thanks

If mine doesn't work for you, use the app to enable all, then use a SQL editor and open the system/data/data/ com.android providers settings folder, databases, settings.db ,then system folder, and go all the way to the bottom. Add TorchLight; to the end of all the others. No need to do anything else. I copied my folder to the internal SD card, edited it, then copied and replaced the one on the root drive and rebooted.

It worked perfectly. Torchlight toggle was there. It played with some of my sound settings so I had to change it back in settings. Guess I'll have to go through my settings and make sure things are how I like it but that's no biggie. Thanks again!
Edit: I first copied the hole com.android.providers settings in cause I don't know how to follow directions lol. Once I copy just the database and rebooted I was good to go.
