[Q] bluetooth phone to tablet(ish) - General Questions and Answers

So here is the thing that i want to do.
I want to build android powered tablet(?) based on pandaboard for car audio system.
I would like to connect my phone to it for:
Phone calls, basically receive and place calls from the pandaboard via Bluetooth using my phone. (panda has mic in and line out...)
share phone interent connection (not a problem i can do it via wifi or bluetooth)
Share GPS coordinates with the panda board (for nav software)
would be nice if it would read incoming text messages from the phone , and if i could dictate outgoing messages.
..... something else probly.
right now i want to solve the phone calls issue , is it possible?
I used my friends xoom and my note for a quick test and after i connected them via blue tooth , the only thing was available is tethering, no other options .... could not even play audio.
any one have any ideas ?

No one ?!

You can't build a tablet especially on a car system lol

Any reason as to why not ?

Because you don't have the skills you would need crazy program skills and have to go to colledge just to get a prototype lol

SMS to bluetooth in car?

There are a million apps that read your incoming sms over the phones speaker while you are driving and just add many that will play over blue tooth ONLY if you are streaming music from the phone to car speakers from blue tooth....
I'm looking for a blue tooth sms reader that will over ride whatever is playing on the radio the same way a phone call over rides everything. Any suggestions?

[Q] Text Messaging App?

Can anyone here recommend an app for texting from my Tab and still use my mobile phone number? It would seem sosomething like this should be possible.
Thanks in advance
Zipwhip?
Talkatone will also let you make calls and text using a google voice account.

Tablet Talk connects your phone and tablet via wifi or bluetooth, so that you can "text" from your tablet (it just sends incoming texts to your tablet, and when you respond from your tablet, it sends it back through your phone)
Thanks for the responses. Talkatone sounds OK but I use my Google Voice number for business. That being said I do like the idea of being able to make business calls from my Tab and so forth.
As for tablet talk, well going to check that out right now. Sounds like more in line of what I'm looking for.
Thanks
One problem with using talkatone on a tablet is the speakers are on the bottom and the microphone on top - opposite of a phone. You can use it as a speakerphone, or with a bluetooth headset.

Well I certainly wasn't planning to hold a 10 inch sized screen to my face to hold a conversation. Lol. Can you picture someone doing? That's a funny visual. Using Bluetooth headset is what I was thinking of if I were to try calling from my tablet.
Hey holding a lot10 inch tab up to your face can give you some privacy but it may block your view some. LOL

Or you could just hold it upside down.

[Q] Routing calls from tablet to phone [Answered: USE TABLET TALK]

Hi,
I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 and a Galaxy S3, and them both with a SIM. My primary line is in Galaxy S3 and second one in Galaxy Note 10.1.
Is there any app that route a call from Note 10.1 to Galaxy S3 (using S3 as an headset) or at least a notification that my second line is ringing?
Thanks in advance,
Vinicius Cordeiro

Will it work in reverse way as showed in app description? Actually I don't care about SMS, just interested in calls notificações.
Thanks anyway. Isso there another choice?

Perfect calum96. It´s really what I searching!
I´ve set Galaxy S3 to be a tablet and Note 10.1 to be the phone, now I´m receiving notifications in S3 when someone call Note 10.1.
I hope that developer can route the call through Wifi connection, do you think is it possible?
Re: [Q] Routing calls from tablet to phone
Yes you can do that! Go into settings and select wifi instead of Bluetooth, I have my phone left upstairs oncharge with this connected and just use my tablet around the house such a useful app

Help with new SW2?

Hey, I just got my SW2 after eyeballing it for a while. Well, the problem is, after connecting to my phone, I install apps on my phone using SmartConnect, but they never appear on the watch. Or, they do, but are greyed out. Help?! Please?
Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk
You would need this as well. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.smartconnect.smartwatch2
But make sure you've paired the watch to the phone also.
So what you need is pairing, smart connect app, smart watch 2 app
Okay, I got it setup. Somehow it stopped installing apps along the way.. But now here's my next problem...
It doesn't sync with my phone? When I go to the slideshow app, it never loads my photos, it just shows loading bars and then closes. Same with the camera. Same with music. All of it just does the bar thing and then shuts..

It'd be great if someone could help me with this, I seem to have narrowed it down.
It doesn't sync to my device. It will for like, five seconds of being connected, but then it'll stop. Am I doing something wrong?

I had same problem with htc one v and stock based roms (sense). On pure android aosp it works like charm

You probably have bluetooth issues between SW2 and your LG.

I already saw all of those.. I'm going to try and reset the watch, unpair from Bluetooth, delete all pairing apps, reboot phone, then try from scratch..

[REQ] App to notify BT Device out of range

I am looking for am application that will notify me when a BT Device goes out of range.
Example:
Phone Note 3 paired with Fitbit One (or any BT deice)
When Fitbit One (or configurable devices) goes out of range a configurable alert occurs (Beep, Vibrate or and listed in the Notification area)
Sounds simple to me helps users not leave their BT devices behind. I'm sure its out there just can't find it.
Use bluetooth notify from playstore.

Looked good even though it hasn't been update since 2012. However it doesn't seem to work on 4.4.2 as I get no notifications on my BT devices. Any other ones you know of?
@earthgod do you mean when its disconnected from bt device?
Sent from Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005
You can use Tasker to write your own. Fairly simple.
