[Q] Text Messaging App? - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone here recommend an app for texting from my Tab and still use my mobile phone number? It would seem sosomething like this should be possible.
Thanks in advance

Zipwhip?
Talkatone will also let you make calls and text using a google voice account.

Tablet Talk connects your phone and tablet via wifi or bluetooth, so that you can "text" from your tablet (it just sends incoming texts to your tablet, and when you respond from your tablet, it sends it back through your phone)

Thanks for the responses. Talkatone sounds OK but I use my Google Voice number for business. That being said I do like the idea of being able to make business calls from my Tab and so forth.
As for tablet talk, well going to check that out right now. Sounds like more in line of what I'm looking for.
Thanks

One problem with using talkatone on a tablet is the speakers are on the bottom and the microphone on top - opposite of a phone. You can use it as a speakerphone, or with a bluetooth headset.

Well I certainly wasn't planning to hold a 10 inch sized screen to my face to hold a conversation. Lol. Can you picture someone doing? That's a funny visual. Using Bluetooth headset is what I was thinking of if I were to try calling from my tablet.

Hey holding a lot10 inch tab up to your face can give you some privacy but it may block your view some. LOL

Phone calls from stock Galaxy Tab

If you want to make calls from your tab just go to the market and get NetTalk it is free and work great using both wifi and data for placing calls. Only downside is no inbound calls, hey but I am sure someone will build a workaround.

Tried it, it works. I was able to dial my cellphone through my tab using nettalk.. I gave my 4 year old my tablet she started talking I can hear her but I wasnt able to talk back to her. Any suggestions welcome...

Well I know there can be a little delay sometime when talking but never unable to hear the other part. Try using the speaker phone option on your phone that may help. Not practicle but my help?

I can't find this app in the market, can post a link to it? Thx.
EDIT: found it in webmarket, but says its not compatible with galaxy tab....does anyone have a link to the apk file?
Groove IP and Google Voice, it works like a charm so far. I have my Tab rooted and can call normally, but I wanted wifi calling, without Skype. This app did the trick, it's actually pretty amazing. This should work on a wifi only tab as well.
The app is like $4 and worth it. I am still tweaking the call quality settings, but I am happy. You can find the Facebook page if you need to talk to the dev, and he/she seems pretty responsive.

[Q] What is everyone using for sms on their WiFi Note 10.1?

Hello everyone.I'm wondering what everybody is using for SMS/MMS on their WiFi Notes? I would appreciate feedback as to what you are using and what features you like about it.Thanks
I would guess they use their phones?
I use mighty text. Works well. I switch between that and Google voice. Mighty text works best unless you are on Google voice then it's a toss up. No mms through Google voice but it syncs everything better than mighty text.

If you are guessing that, you have no idea what I am talking about. There are several apps that connect phone to tablet for this or use your phone number to sms thru email on the tab.Move on to your next extremely helpful post somewhere else.
I'm using tablet talk. I like it a lot it's really good but it's not free.
It syncs all your messages to your tablet. It uses WiFi and Bluetooth for it to work.
You can receive calls.
Perfect Combo!

Well since in many countries it's illegal to spoof sender number I would say that any app that can do that is potentially a way to get your criminal record tainted. And know of at least two providers that do not deliver from spoofed sender numbers.

Haha nice try to cover your own ridiculousness. It's not a spoof number, Google voice and mighty text use your own number? Are you going to say it's illegal to send texts through those services on a Web browser as well?

That is your providers SMSC you use and that is not at spoof. But if I send a message via my SMSC with your number as a sender that it's spoofing and illegal here. I can do that since I have my own SMSC and my contract clearly states that that it's grounds for termination and most likely a report to the authorities.

I use textfree. Can't send mms with it but can receive. Just wish the number they give had my area code.
I'm using Tablet Talk and it is brilliant. I was using Mighty Text, and was wary of whether TT would be worth the £1.79, and it totally was. I'm glad I took rhe plunge.

I take this back. Textfree is what I use on my kindle. I use heywire on my 10.1.
Tablet talk works great. I never have to take my phone out of my pocket, even for phone calls when I have my bluetooth in, I can dial right from my tablet. Well worth the money imo.

[Q] Routing calls from tablet to phone [Answered: USE TABLET TALK]

Hi,
I have a Galaxy Note 10.1 and a Galaxy S3, and them both with a SIM. My primary line is in Galaxy S3 and second one in Galaxy Note 10.1.
Is there any app that route a call from Note 10.1 to Galaxy S3 (using S3 as an headset) or at least a notification that my second line is ringing?
Thanks in advance,
Vinicius Cordeiro

Will it work in reverse way as showed in app description? Actually I don't care about SMS, just interested in calls notificações.
Thanks anyway. Isso there another choice?

Perfect calum96. It´s really what I searching!
I´ve set Galaxy S3 to be a tablet and Note 10.1 to be the phone, now I´m receiving notifications in S3 when someone call Note 10.1.
I hope that developer can route the call through Wifi connection, do you think is it possible?
Re: [Q] Routing calls from tablet to phone
Yes you can do that! Go into settings and select wifi instead of Bluetooth, I have my phone left upstairs oncharge with this connected and just use my tablet around the house such a useful app

[Q] bluetooth phone to tablet(ish)

So here is the thing that i want to do.
I want to build android powered tablet(?) based on pandaboard for car audio system.
I would like to connect my phone to it for:
Phone calls, basically receive and place calls from the pandaboard via Bluetooth using my phone. (panda has mic in and line out...)
share phone interent connection (not a problem i can do it via wifi or bluetooth)
Share GPS coordinates with the panda board (for nav software)
would be nice if it would read incoming text messages from the phone , and if i could dictate outgoing messages.
..... something else probly.
right now i want to solve the phone calls issue , is it possible?
I used my friends xoom and my note for a quick test and after i connected them via blue tooth , the only thing was available is tethering, no other options .... could not even play audio.
any one have any ideas ?
No one ?!
You can't build a tablet especially on a car system lol

have you read what i asked in the first post ?
pretty much the only problem i have is to use tablet as a headset for the phone.

use as phone?

Hi guys, I've got a Note 8.0 and I'm happy with It because I can use It as phone (3G version).
Does the LTE version of the note pro support the phone functionality? Can I use it to make phone calls? Of course I work with bluetooth earphones.
Thank you
Antonio
The answer is yes. I use my Note 12.2 with LTE to make calls, send texts, surf the web, etc. I'm using lg tone bluetooth stereo headset. Works like a champ.
Yes, I've used it (P905) to make phonecalls through my Bluetooth headset and my regular earphones.
Thanks

Does anyone have any experience using this and SideSync with a Galaxy phone? I just realized a couple days ago, while watching an LG presentation, that we probably had a feature that was similar.

The LTE version of the Note 12.2 has basically the same phone dialer, text message, browser, etc. that's found on all Galaxy phones. It's just displayed on a 12.2 screen. Wanna make a call? Tap the phone icon and dial away like you would do on any modern cellphone. Rince and repeat for text messaging, email, web browsing, etc. That's the point of getting the LTE version. It turns the tablet into a giant cell phone and you get the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, instead of the Samsung Exynos processor to boot.

- Buy the tablet
- Start the tablet
- Open the app drawer.
That's it.
This is full 100% unaltered stock. These apps came pre-installed out of the box.
This is the p905 4G edition, not the p900 WiFi Only. The WiFi only model doesn't have a 3G/4G radio.

The dialer and message apps are already on it you just have to find a way to get them to work. I have the Verizon variant and downloaded a dialer app and when I tried to run it the tablet asked what app to use at default and the dialer app was one of the choices. But it wouldn't run. It is also listed in the app manager under all apps.
If it's listed as an app in the app manager, you could probably add a shortcut to it through Apex or Nova. Or possibly with Zooper Widget, which also has shortcuts to apps.

Quite good but the fps is a little bit low
This is true. Other downside of SideSync: no word gliding for you.
I did discover some upsides, including being able to drag files from my file manager onto it, and opening a movie from my phone that played on my tablet (instant media streaming).
And like an idiot, I still haven't tried placing a call.
Help, no Phone
Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, I just had major surgery and some problems concentrating
I just purchased the Verizon Note Pro 12 today and there is no phone icon anywhere..
I have searched through every spot on that thing and cannot find it. I have the Note 3 phone and other samsung stuff so I am pretty used to their systems..
..Is there something I need to do special to find this because I am about to having a multi-hundred dollar discus.
Yes it is 4G, yes i have the Sim card inserted, yes it told me my phone number, but no phone or dialer icons exists, and I am supossed to be using this on a trip in a day and a half so would like to know its functions.
Thanks everybody..
