I am looking for am application that will notify me when a BT Device goes out of range.
Example:
Phone Note 3 paired with Fitbit One (or any BT deice)
When Fitbit One (or configurable devices) goes out of range a configurable alert occurs (Beep, Vibrate or and listed in the Notification area)
Sounds simple to me helps users not leave their BT devices behind. I'm sure its out there just can't find it.
Use bluetooth notify from playstore.

Looked good even though it hasn't been update since 2012. However it doesn't seem to work on 4.4.2 as I get no notifications on my BT devices. Any other ones you know of?
@earthgod do you mean when its disconnected from bt device?

You can use Tasker to write your own. Fairly simple.

So here is the thing that i want to do.
I want to build android powered tablet(?) based on pandaboard for car audio system.
I would like to connect my phone to it for:
Phone calls, basically receive and place calls from the pandaboard via Bluetooth using my phone. (panda has mic in and line out...)
share phone interent connection (not a problem i can do it via wifi or bluetooth)
Share GPS coordinates with the panda board (for nav software)
would be nice if it would read incoming text messages from the phone , and if i could dictate outgoing messages.
..... something else probly.
right now i want to solve the phone calls issue , is it possible?
I used my friends xoom and my note for a quick test and after i connected them via blue tooth , the only thing was available is tethering, no other options .... could not even play audio.
any one have any ideas ?
No one ?!
You can't build a tablet especially on a car system lol

Any reason as to why not ?
Because you don't have the skills you would need crazy program skills and have to go to colledge just to get a prototype lol

have you read what i asked in the first post ?
pretty much the only problem i have is to use tablet as a headset for the phone.
Noticed in the Play Store the Smartactions app is no longer a choice for the Ultra.
Any way I can get GPS to turn on automatically when connected to Bluetooth?

I believe you can use the new APP called Assit to setup the driving profile. If you are traveling fast or have the dock it will automatically turn on the GPS and Bluetooth.
Its really new to me .. so I dont know how to customize yet...

I've been using Assist. It's working, but for some odd reason when I'm in driving mode it's not announcing caller names even though I have that option checked.

I use llama it is free and much easier to use then tasker I am not sure if it will do what you want but it has a boat load of options. I use it to shut off data when the screen is off to conserve battery life. Not that battery life is much of an issue with the Maxx anymore.
Does someone know which is the best to pair a mobile with the watch? For other uses some say NFC uses less battery, but in the case of this watch I can't find any info...
Thanks
NFC is just for pairing the watch quickly. NFC can't transfer the data, hence Bluetooth is being used.

OK. So using it to control apps it will be connected via Bluetooth. Sounds logical.
Thanks
I've got the metal armband, No way to pair by NFC. Had to do it by BT.
BTW the NFS just creates the BT connection, once paired you won't use NFC anymore until you have to recreate the pairing.

You can pair with metal wristbands with nfc
Just open the watch strap and put the phone through the middle

So, how does it work if you want to use the watch with more than one device? E.g., I'll use it with my phone when I'm out and about, but then with my tablet at the office. Will I be able to use NFC to switch from one pairing to another?

In that case NFC is perfect as with a simple "touch" of the two devices, you will pair both by Bluetooth.
What I wanted to express with that phrase about NFC is that some people seem to think that information is send by NFC (comparable to a BT link...) which is not the case, information passes by BT, NFC only creates the BT link fast and without any hassle.

Okay, got my SW2 and it's not quite so simple to work with multiple devices. Before the SW2 will pair with another device, either through NFC or regular pairing, you need to unpair from the other device. Not that big a deal, but it's not so simple as connecting via NFC to unpair from one and pair with another.
Good thing is that even though the SW2 needs to reconfigure for each device, it doesn't take long. Certainly less than a minute, I think. And the way it works means that the SW2 is set up perfectly for each device, with the right apps installed.
Overall I like it a great deal. Maybe they'll enable NFC unpaid/pair in a future firmware build.

So I just bought the pebble watch for my Galaxy S4. I have been hesitant because of the Samsung bug, but so far the only one I noticed was the video player bars staying there. Anyone else can tell me what this watch is capable of? Or if the issues come up on the phone with time?

I've been using one since May. The talkback bug is there on all Samsung devices but otherwise it's cool. The most usable smartwatch on the market.

I like it but I don't know if its worth the $150 iny head (personally) I want it as more of an extension of my phone rather than just read texts.
What talk back bug are you talking about? I have been trying to duplicate it and can't seem to find it

If you turn on accessibility so that you can get whatsapp messages etc on the watch, then it enables talkback

Hi!
I've been using my pebble for some time now. I don't use the talk back service, so it doesn't bother me.
I can recommend pebble notifier as well!
I doubt that the bars staying on in video player are because of the pebble, as I remember that I've had that before I even had ordered my pebble.
It has appeared once or twice after that randomly as well and disappeared.
Hey guys. I've recently picked up one of these watches since I've read that it will somewhat work with the n5. The main issue that I have is the fact that when paired the watch shows up as a headset instead of a watch which my zwatch showed up as. Because it pairs this way I cannot use a Bluetooth headset cause all audio is filtered to the watch. Is it possible to edit Bluetooth profiles of devices or something? Thanks for any help.

It only works with Galaxy devices natively. It is possible there is a hack out there to make it work with the N5, but I haven't seen one.

Did you download Gear Manager? Secondly, I believe it may pair as a Bluetooth headset because you can make and receive calls directly from the watch.

Yep audio gets directed to the watch. I've managed to root w/custom ROM on the gear. But the biggest thing I've got to get working is notifications on the watch and audio on the BT earpiece. No luck so far.

Yep I've had gear manager followed all tutorials and got notifications working, its just the fact that I can't use a BT earpiece. I wonder if there is a Bluetooth file somewhere that determines what kind of device is paired to the n5, and if so can it be edited so the galaxy gear is showing up as a watch instead of another earpiece.

I'll have to ask my dad but as far as I can remember whenever he used the Galaxy Gear with his phone he never used his Bluetooth headset and I'm wondering if its because the watch is now considered a Bluetooth headset.
