Unlocking bootloader in Sony Xperia U? - General Questions and Answers

Already did a search and readings. I read that if the "bootloader" option is not present in Service info, Settings after dialing *#*#7378423#*#*, it's not possible to unlock by normal means.
Then I read that, by "releasing" the device from the vendor (unlocking sim), I get the option for unlocking bootloader, but since I'm in Mexico this is not an option. Vendor is monopoly and kind of "tricky" or "unreliable".
So I'm here to ask you if there's a way to unlock this phone, even if it was a long or difficult one. I want to install custom roms on it...
Thanks.

[Q] Xperia J is possible to unlock BL with test point method??

Hi,
I did research using uncle google but I can't find any good answer.
So the question is: Is possible to unlock boot loader with any other method than official sony web site?
I'm interested if it's even test point method because on my J "Bootloader unlock Status" says No.
Maybe I should flash something jet like simlock.sin?
Any ideas?
Phone was sim locked before but it is already (sim) unlocked by code, unfortunately status remain the same.
Can anyone help with that?

[Q] Can i unlock fastboot?

Hi everyone!
I want to instal custom ROM on my smartphone, but i have one problem with that. In service menu i can see something like that "bootloader unlock allowed no". Can i solve my problem alone in home?
I will be grateful for any help.
If you have "bootloader unlock allowed no", then you can install only stock based ROMs. Unfortunatelly, you won't be able to install CyanogenMod. I have the same problem and i understand that pain :/. You can only root but can't unlock BL, unless you will pay for this (not me, i have no idea how to do that)
Sock ROM
Hi guys,i have this problem too...my xperia E is bootloader status unlock : NO... Please can you give me link to Stock roms? My phone is rooted....Thanks.
There is way to unlock it even if flag is no, but its paid method i did it with my xperia e you will need to find someone with setool2 to do it for you but like i said its not free.

[Q] Bootloader

Hi all
I just wanted to confirm something and put my mind at rest. I really don't like the idea of all the O2 branding or bloatware on my Sony Xperia Z1 (C6903). After typing in the *#*#7378423#*#* code into my phone, my Bootloader unlocking status is set to NO.
Does that really mean there is absolutely nothing I can to to Root my phone and get rid of my carriers control and stupid branding? And if not, why is this?
Thank you
David.
Well it may be hard to root it, but you'll have to find an external method to unlock the bootloader. Look for other methods. Till now I can only tell you to disable these carrier applications.

[Q] [D2302] Question about bootloader and DRM's.

Hi, I am Eugenio, and I like my new smartphone Sony Xperia M2 dual, (previous was a lg p500, nice one ), I like what sony has made with android and user experience, on the other side I come from a smartphone that has root, and some apps...you know....are addictive(with the root PoWeR). I already checked the phone number(*#*#...) and my smartphone are allowed to be unlocked in the bootloader. And I readed that if I do the unlock, I may break some DRM's keys that can influence negatively my user experience, and now I am wondering what kind of features/algorithms I am going to influence negatively(or break) by unlocking the bootloader? Some expert on this forum know what kind of things I am going to lose?
[Bonus question] I looked in this page to obtain the code that give me the capacity to unlock the bootloader: developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/
and I was wondering if there are any problem to select the device Xperia M2 to obtain the necessary code obtained later by IMEI?
There is no one "M2 dual" in the list, and I dont know if this selection is valid or not for my intention to unlock the bootloader, what you think about? It is a valid method too?
[Combo->Bonus question] When I select "Xperia M2" in that page, there are this advice:
Important note! In order to unlock your Xperia™ M2 you need to be on software version 18.3.C.0.37. Also beware that booting this device the first time after unlocking the boot loader may take a long time.
After I read it, I see the software version of my smartphone, and it is 18.3.B.0.31 and I was wondering if this would make impossible to unlock the bootloader. It is a problem?
[Final noob question] After all this doubts, if the unlock operation can be made, can I root the current stack of my android? Or I need to flash a new rom stack?

Unlocking bootloader imposible

Well, hello to everyone. I bought Sony Xperia Z3 and bought code to unlock it for all sim cards and it works. When i visited Sony's site for unlocking bootloader i came across this post:
In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
Well, my device cannot be unlocked because it says No..
so what can i do to unlock it?

What? Do you know what you are taking about..
Anyway, if the service menu says you cannot do it then it is impossible to unlock it.

For your device it is not allowed, so you can't unlock the bootloader.
/I've read some threads about trying to unlock the bl although service says "no" on other Devices like z Ultra:
It's not impossible to unlock the bl with official method if you know your device earlier had status allowed "yes".

its necessity if you want an aosp rom .....
Stock basted Roms on most Sony devices are pretty fast and solid in my opinion no need to really unlock unless your desperate for cm
So that's it? If the bootloader can't be unlocked officially, I'm stuck on Sony roms forever?
Wouldn't bother me so much but my Z3 has a horrible bug where it doesn't work with the bluetooth in my car without rebooting first every time. Was hoping to install CM12.
Could be a hardware fault the Bluetooth

It's not that I have any major issues with Sony roms, I'd just like to be able to flash other stuff in the future, should I want to.
I'm still going to keep the Z3, such a nice phone, nothing else really comes close to it for me yet. Maybe the M9, but I just got the Z3 for £260 from o2 and had it network unlocked, probably have been looking at least double that for the HTC.
You can still root the device and customize it. Tools like the XPosed framework are great at modifying specific parts of the ROM.
But to confirm: you're stuck. You can't unlock Sony's unlockable bootloader. I've heard of people trying to unlock it, I've never heard of a successful case.
Enjoy the phone, it's among the best available right now (imho).
