I see you are a new member, so welcome to XDA-Developers.
You are correct about rooting. It's similar to an Administrator's account on Windows. It gives you full access to the underlying file system. As a courtesy to a new user, you may want to look at this thread for information on rooting your tablet.
Please bear in mind that XDA-Developers stresses using the forums search feature before posting or creating threads/topics.
Best of luck in your endeavor.

Is there any app for tab which makes Admin/user accounts, so kids can be safe & restricted to their user account & privileges.
I am planning to buy a tab for my kid, on my phone they mess up by opening non related apps & setting changes like enabling /disabling wifi bluetooth & many other settings.
I found an app called kids place (actually its a launcher) which restricts the kids to an extent but was looking for a better option with proper control as admin has on computer.
kids place actually restricts them from the tablet interface all together, that not what I want. Interface should be available to them but they should be restricted to certain privileges, they should not be able to change settings & use apps which are not assigned to them.
if you get an tab that has jellybean, you can create 2 accounts with terminal emulator. with other account you cant change settings, atleast the more sensitive ones. you can hide apps etc

Tab2 as of now is being shipped with ICE 4.x.x version not sure if samsung will upgrade it to jellybean.
Only google nexus 7 tab is being shipped with jellybean which is already overbooked, I would have to wait for months getting that.

That would be awesome if that is true but meanwhile I found what I was looking for the app already exist but I never came across earlier neither in play store nor at xda saw anyone discussing it.
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.

That is good to know I can wait 2 weeks if that is happening or can buy now & update later.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8010 Wifi.
Terrific.
Now a new version is out (2014) God only knows why laziness precluded giving it a slightly different name.
Now this may be my short coming; but when I do a browser search for said machine (the original) I get nothing but tons of results on the new 2014 version.
I tried doing searches and putting in "NOT" 2014 or - (minus) 2014 but to no avail.
So my question is how do I now find what Google doesn't seem to want me to find? Am I failing at my searches because I'm lame or are searches now rigged to only give me the latest and (ahem) greatest?
Thanks.

The new one has a different model number so just searching with N8010 should be specific enough.

Hi, I'm trying to update my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (SCH-I815) to Android 4.1 or higher so that I can run a particular app. All the instructions I've found are from around 2012 and most of the links are broken. Can anyone provide me with or point me in the right direction of instructions for doing so. I'm relatively tech savvy (or at least I thought so), but have never rooted a device or done anything like this before.
Thanks in advance!

Hello all,
I have my brother's Note 10.1 that he wanted me to put a newer custom rom on so that he could use a more recent version of Android. He bought this used. When I look in the about section of settings, it says the Model Number is SCH-I925. Which according to Google and Samsung websites is correct, it is the Note 10.1 first edition. If I type the model number into the device search bar here in XDA it comes up as a phone. So, through some research, I was at least able to find out this tablet is not the 2014 version (Looked at the camera and it only goes up to 5MP so must be original version). However, I am not seeing any roms with the I925 in the title. Most are for 800, 8000, etc. So just looking for a little guidance. I am no stranger to flashing roms so I can work my way through the actual process. But usually the model number matches the roms and at this point I am not getting any matches.
What says you guys?
Thats the Verizon model .
I dont know of any roms .

Good day,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 SCH-i925 Verizon running 4.1.2 Jellybean (2013) I have been doing research into the development of unlocking the bootloader for this device, and I came across the CASUAL method created by Adam Outler, but it so happens that all of the download links are broken. If anyone could point me in the right direction to downloading CASUAL for the SCH-i925 tablet that would be a huge help, or even if you have the files. I bought this tablet for school and don't like Jellybeans functionality, rather a lack of.
Thank you,

Unfortunately CASUAL for this tablet is unavailable. I too have this tablet and would love to update it. The creator of this program asked whenever he created it for everyone just let it stay on the original file sharing server. As per his request the link died and now it is inaccessible.
You're best bet is to ask around see if someone has the file still, not probable, and ask them to share it.
