[HELP] USB OTG Questions - HTC One S

Hey guys, I was looking to purchase a USB OTG setup and had a few questions for those who have it and use it (please, only respond if you use OTG and can help ).
1) Is OTG reliable / stable? As in: can I store music on it and easily play it through a media player with no lag / media scan delay?
2) Is it possible to store game data on the storage? In example, Vice City or Modern Combat require you download ~1gb of files (game data) to the SD, can this be placed / read from OTG instead of /storage/sdcard?
3) TWRP backups directly to OTG / TWRP support. As stated in TWRP's OP, OTG should be supported. Any comments denying such? This would be one of my main uses for OTG.
4) ROM Support: I plan on using USB OTG with the ViperOneS 2 ROM and CM10.1 on and off. Do these ROMs support OTG by default or will I NEED to install a custom kernel to enable support? I know Flar's Sense kernel enables it but wasn't sure if OTG is possible without a custom kernel or on CM stock.
If anyone can answer these any of these questions I would greatly appreciate it. I am really interested in OTG since the One S has a limited storage space. Thanks again!

1, Yes you can.
2, not sure
3, not sure
4, Any JB rom has it. AOSP will need an app like USB OTG Helper.

^^ Thank you very much. But would still really appreciate answers for numbers 2 and 3 if anyone else can help.

1) Yes, its stable as such. It drains the battery quite fast though.
2) Not directly, no. You will need to get an app that can make links from the original location (/sdcard/whatever/) pointing to the USB device.
I used to have such an app for my TF (pointing stuff from /sdcard/ to /mnt/Removable/MicroSD), but I dont remember what its called.
3) It detects USB sticks, but I havnt tried restoring anything from it.
4) Dont know about CM10.1, but 10.0 supports OTG right away.

2) I know two apps: GL to SD and DirectoryBind. There are probably other apps that do this.
4) it works fine on CM10.1 too

3. I started taking backups and restoring them via my 8gb flash drive the day TWRP started supporting OTG.. absolutely no issues, except for the fact that it takes longer than usual to complete the backup/restore procedure...
Rest all questions are answered above my post..

Hey guys!
I'm new on this Forum, so I'd like to say: Hello everyone!
My question to this thread is: did anyone try to use the OTG to connect with a camera like Nikon or Canon?
Are there any additional drivers/apps required for it?

Since the author remained silent I have extracted his configuration from the kernel. See attached
Someone may want to play with it. Unfortunately I do not have the cable to test it.
The kernel itself is attached as well, because the links in the OP are dead

No these are for gingerbread, it clearly states this in the title. If you want kernel 3 search for tweaked kernel in the index. Remember to click his thanks button

[q&a][rom] [ics] infinitum rom-discussion thread

Hello everyone!
Here is the Q&A thread of Fuss's INFINITUM ROM
DEVELOPEMENT THREAD:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588530
I created this Thread for general suggestions and questions and answers.people can put the useful links(for developement) over here
You still aren't allowed to ask for ETA's in either of the thread.this is just for questions and answers and NON-DEVELOPEMENTAL talks.
I read that fuss said he hasn't fixed bugs but i have some questions...
Does wifi work properly? I can't connect my phone with dhiru CM9.
And did anyone try SD card swap mod?

I have a problem. I flashed the rom many times and I flashed of many different ways (first alpha2, then infinitum; alpha2, alpha3 then infinitum...) and always I have a bootloop after some reboots.

And another question. If I'm in MIUI ROM how i can get the Infinitum ROM black theme? I tried to flash it but after flash the phone don't start.

[ICS/Jelly bean] ``Tvout option´´ [Development thread]

Hey guys as you already now we are going to an nightly of cm9 (because of our great devs arco68,ivendor and dont forget the people who helped us during the hard time , oisis grabber28,texten and many more, sorry if I forgot somebody)
back to thema...
Well of course you saw galaxy s plus settings in ics settings (thx to ivendor)
But I and many more miss a very good feature called Tvout...
So I wanted to start this thread !
----Dev area---
+First we need to search all libs needed, so we can try to get it working via terminal emulator command..
- I think:
from kqb
/system/bin
tvoutserver
/system/etc
vold.conf
/system/lib
lib_tvoutengine.so
libtvout.so
libtvout_jni.so
libtvoutservice.so
+Than invendor could integrate this option in settings like he made it with calibration and bln!
----------------

Well there would have been more development costs, wouldn't it?
I have a question: does anyone actually own a tvout cable? I have not found 1 to work with this crappy phone. Each cable I saw it said expressly that it won't work on the S-

Hmm I would be interested in the pin out of the cable so I can mod or make cable.

There has been several threads about this from about a year ago. Samsung swapped something with the output of video and audio. If i recall correctly there are several cables from nokia(?) who did work, and with a bit of soldering 'normal' cables can work as well. Just google/xda search it.

Dear all,
I found this thread really important because I found the TV out option a fantastic possibility to use our 9001.
Just to contribute... I found this link:
https://github.com/skywalker01/vendor_samsung_galaxysplus/tree/master/proprietary/lib
In it there are all the libs... maybe they can be useful to add this functionality in all the custum roms.
Bye and good work

So what else do you need. If you want everything back that you deleted you're kind of screwed.

If you didn't overwrite too much a utility like this will help undelete your SD. Just mount it from your PC and scan it. http://download.cnet.com/Recover-Files-Portable/3000-2094_4-75212726.html?tag=main;dropDownForm

With respect to you , all these "undelete" tools are crap , they never worked and never will reliably ..
To OP kiss you sd card data goodbye if you haven't by now ...

Hey my dear friend not all those apps are crap... I had some issue with an sd card at work, and we have a license for a recovery sw from SanDisk it took 2 days in the procedure but I have recovered 99% of the data... This is not and ad, its just an FYI for the the people of the community.
Best regards.

Agree, i've personally used these freeware apps:
http://www.raymond.cc/blog/restoring-accidentally-deleted-files-with-recuva/
http://www.raymond.cc/blog/download/?did=9
for recovering accidentally deleted photos and data and got most of it back.

I dunno what you based that on mahanddeem, , but I spoke from experience. The free and paid undelete utilities all employ operating system features to expose abandoned (but recognizable as discrete files) data on storage media. Differences in their performance can be subtle, and depend on the nature of the deletion event, file types, OS version etc. If a user really wants to regain lost files for little or no cost, it is certainly worth trying a few.
