Hi I have a htc one s.. i tried to copy some files from my pc via usb but the dialogue box gets stuck at "Discovering Items"....I tried it on a friends laptop with a different cable and file transferred without any problem!!
then i changed my usb cable but it still wont work on my pc...Can someone please help? im running win 7...please explain in simple terms i dont have a lot of technical knowledge
It might be your cable but I normally activate htc sync through my phone, wait for my pc to pull it up then just close it and select disk drive on my phone and my sdcard normally comes up.
echo en Android
I did a factory reset of the phone and now files are transferring ok...but this happens when i deselect usb debugging...the phone doesnt show up when debugging is on.. :S

I was just curious is there a way of updating your mda to windows mobile 6 with a cab file instead of an installer, because my usb doesn't sync with the computer but it still charges. So i'm asking if there is a way to do this, please post.
Sorry...not by cab file.
Sorry mate, you cant update an OS by cab file. You can get the look and feel however by installing some cab files. There's some nice cabs on the forum somewhere (cant remember exactly where!) that will change your today screen, system icons and sounds to make it look n sound almost the same.
If you want the real thing though, you'll have to update the rom via activesync.
Hope this helps..
P.S. Why dont/cant you connect your phone to your PC (apart from charging)?
Unless you have a tool to write a WM6 image to a SD card in your PC, then install the SD card in the PDA and load via posted SD load procedure...
At this point, I don't think such tool exists, but I could be wrong...

Your phone may not sync, but can you put the phone in bootloader mode (turn it off, pull out your SD card, and then press the camera key and turn it on, and you will be at the rainbow bootloader screen)? Put it in Bootloader then plug in the USB cord. If you see USB in the lower left then you have enough of a connection to flash a rom (ActiveSync will not connect in this mode either, so don't be surprised by that).
Just a thought...
I also assume you've tried other USB cables and plugged it directly to the back of the computer and not through the front or a usb hub?
SD Card method.
Have a look here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276963
There is a way to backup a rom to an sd card and then extract that image from the card but I've never tried it.
So in theory you could ask some kind soul to make an sd card image for you that you could extract back to a card and then flash your device with it....
has anybody already made an extract of the files to be downloaded, if someone has posting it would really help

I selected file transfer in settings>storage> menu but still nothing can anyone help me please...
ViperS uses MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) and not UMS mode (USB Mass Storage mode) (as like CM, MIUI, etc).
Just go to My Computer and you'll find an entry "HTC Sensation Z710e". Double-click on it and it will show you your SDCard

What exactly you want to do ?
If you want to transfer files to phone or take backup of SDCard then boot into 4EXT Recovery > Connect USB cable to phone > Select "Toggle USB storage" (or something like that). Your phone will now show up in My Computer as a new drive. You can do whatever you want including Formatting
Good Luck !!!

Guys I have a strange problem here.
Whenever i connect my nexus 5 to the pc the autoplay opens the folder.
But its always blank(I dont get any INternal storage icon).
I have to manually select MTP after connecting.
Btw i am on stock rom, rooted, CWM recovery

Did you try another computer?
That happens to me if I have the phone locked when I plug it in. As soon as I unlock the phone the internal storage pops up. If that isn't what is happening to you then I don't know what the problem is.
i suggest u to try AirDroid instead. It seams wireless without needing usb cord.
When I first connected my phone on my laptop, it has a CD Drive as well.
I accidentally safely removed it from the Windows system tray (from the icon of connected USB devices).
How can I get the contents of the CD Drive from the Nokia 8 phone or is there a way to mount the CD Drive again when I connect my phone?
Reconnecting the phone doesn't seem to make the CD Drive contents be mounted again.
All it contains are the drivers that windows needs to install for it to be able to connect to your phone. It autoruns when you connect the phone to install the required drivers. It's nothing you need worry about.

Is there a way to make it work again?
If you just did the safely remove drive before I plugging the phone it should have just appeared again when the phone was connected again. Have you mounted the phone for file transfer? When you plug it into your pc when you unlock the phone a question should appear asking if you want to mount it for file transfer. Does the drive appear when you do this?
If it doesn't you may have to go into disk management and re-assign a drive letter to it again.

I was not prompted with that autoplay setting when I tried to replug it. I will try the re-assigning drive letter solution.
