Dialer still runs wild - Thunderbolt General

I see that even with the official ICS and Sense 3.6 update, the still dialer doesn't turn itself off after a call and drains the battery. The battery doesn't seem to drain as bad as before, but it still shows for me as my 2nd biggest battery drain. Does Sense 4.0 fix this? I hear great things about Santod's NuSenseX, which I'll probably try eventually anyway, but I'm enjoying his rooted stock just fine other than the dialer thing (and the gps thing I posted in (Q&A).

[BATTERY] BlindIce 5.4

Hello,
I can't post in the BlindIce topic so I hope it's fine here.
I've seen only good reviews about the battery, that's the main reason I installed this ROM, but I seem to have a problem, my battery drops like crazy. In ~2h it already went down to 86%, and all I did was send 2 SMS. On Endymion I didn't have this problem.
And I also have a problem with the stock browser, it's moving like a snail, but the main problem is the battery, firefox/chromw is working fine so I can live with that.
I'll upload the battery log after I get home, if needed.
Sent from my Desire S using XDA
i was also very happy with it despite minor bugs but eventually many things sent me back to endymion i can guarantee pretty soon you'll be back on endy, ics roms are nice but until the kernel comes out there isnt really one that can rival endy
anyway back on topic, check things like widgets? especially things like youtube widget i just took mine off, having it there means its connected to the net cycling through the subscriptions constantly, thats an example most widgets add to drain quite well, check your syncs, which app syncing for how long, can you do it manually etc, weather apps are they syncing to frequently, which apps are using location? using better battery stats i found google locations is used in many things without me even knowing, all of these things should be checked and configured on any rom, there is nothing really specific, maybe your 3g is using up the battery? try switching to gsm only.. finally have you calibrated the battery or more specifically the phone; so it reads the battery accurately.. thats all the things i can think of off head to help
Thanks for your reply.
Anyway, all the config was done and there was no widget running so I guess it was something with the kernel/ROM that my phone didn't like, considering that I'm probably among the few or the only one which had such an issue.
And like 3h ago the battery was hot as hell for no reason, only Y!M was running, it literally burned my hand, there's still a little red spot, so idk what was the reason or what happend but I went back to endy, after the 3.0 kernel will be out, I'll try again, until then thanks and keep up the good work @devs.

Same problem with that rom
After 15 minutes of listening to music battery drains from 100% to 75%

Any widgets (or sync's) running on your phone?
If so - how many and what kind?
The battery isn't that bad for me but on all of the ICS ROM's that I've used the battery drain issue is quite bad. Then again, I was using Virtuous Affinity for a while and the battery wasn't brilliant on that either so I've come to the conclusion that I will probably require a new battery soon.
But still, the battery on my phone on BlindICE has been better than on yours but I'm reluctant to switching from it now

Rogers SII battery issues - radio the cause?

I have an issue I’m trying to resolve on my Roger’s SII.
I’m running aokp milestone 6 with instigatorx’s kernel v4.0b and everything was running nice and smooth without issues. But I wasn’t getting the best signal so I updated my radio.
I updated my radio to the Roger’s stock ICS radio from the Embryo 4.1 post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754473) and have noticed a huge decrease in battery life (basically watch the battery percentage tick down). I also noticed my phone is now getting really warm to the touch.
I flashed the Roger’s stock ICS radio from Seanzscreams and same issue.
I flashed back to the GB radio in the Embryo post and same issue.
So I’m not sure what I screwed up but it’s annoying when you’re phone won’t last a day or even ½ day.
Anyone have any suggestions?
I’ll keep searching in the meantime for a solution….
Thanks.
**EDIT**
Turning on Airplane Mode stops the phone from discharging rapidly and my battery stats indicate that Phone is consuming the most power. Not sure if that helps.

Cusrom ROM's + Dailer Bug?

Hi all, just got my 11yr old son a ChaCha. He wanted a Blackberry for the keyboard, but managed to persuade him to have the ChaCha. Anyway, it seems to have this infamous dialer bug. From reading throu the forums, am I right in thinking that if I put a custom rom on, it will get rid of the dialer bug? He curently takes it to school, at 100% power, and generally comes home with the phone on around 10-20% power!! He is only allowed to use it at break and lunchtime!! Also, as it's for my kid, I would like it to be as close to stock as possible. Any recommendations? As I already own a customised Desire, I am happy to 'play about'. I have already unlocked the bootloader, and rooted, so that I can use link2sd. Without that he could only install 3 apps on it before it got the low disk space warning!! And as he's only 11, he likes to put a lot of junk on his phone!! Any help would be most appreacited. Thanks.
Like I mentioned here, I don't think that the dialer bug really exists. It's just the battery statistics that are not very clear.
The overall battery performance of the Chacha is very bad, so if you play some games they could drown the battery within an hour. There only thing you could do is rooting the phone and using another ROM. You can win a little with this, but for playing games, Chacha has a very bad battery performance.
Best performance was with CM7 - there my battery live was 1 1/2 days (without playing games), with CM9 now it's less then a day again.
So for better battery performance and keyboard I guess the Motorola Pro is the only phone, or non-Android phones.
I agree. There is no dialer bug. Those are many processes that show as Dialer. I don't mean to offend you, but have you considered that your son is using the phone not just at break and lunchtime? It is hard to resist, especially when it comes to new things. You should test it yourself and see if battery drains that much in that specific time frame.
Regards
Custom ROM would be a good option, but as he's 11, he's probably not old enough to appreciate the faster speed of CM7 or CM9, over his front camera. I'm guessing he'd want his front camera to keep on working lol
But when I was using the stock rom, I just turned my 3G data off whenever I was not using it, and that makes the battery last miles longer
For easyness (lazyness). Create a widget on the homescreen, under Settings and Mobile Internet. And then you'll have a widget you can just tap to turn on and off the mobile data as long as your son can get the hang off turning it off when he's not using it, then that should work a treat
go for CM Roms
IMHO I do believe that there's a dialer bug in stock Chacha, I think it is caused by the dialer's continuous polling of the proximity sensor (this bug has been reported in a lot of htc stock gingerbread phones, the app dx battery helped me confirm this.) Custom ROMs helped me solved this bug but only those that are CM-based (stock-based roms still has the dialer bug). CM7 is very stable and has the best battery life for any Chacha ROM but CM9 just looks so damn good and the battery life is still way better than stock (in stock, I get battery drains even if my phone is just idle, wifi off)
Thanks for the advice guys. I think we will leave it a couple of weeks and see how it goes. May end up putting CM7 on it at some stage, as I have a CM7 based ROM on my desire. He is only allowed to use it between lessons, otherwise it's detention!! He also uses it to listen to music to and from school. And yes, I have notice that the battery goes down rather quickly, when I was setting it up for him.
Well, there sure is a bug in the stock rom that drains it within hours. IMO it's coming from the 3G connection... Sometimes, when my coworkers drive me crazy, I turn off the 3G... I live in a neighbourhood with a bad network connection, this means that it is reconnecting all the time. My battery normally went for about 15 hours, with 3G off it works for over 20 hours. But since I've installed CM9 it stays alive for over 40 hours...

One X and AOSP

Does anyone have any of the AOSP roms that run well on their phone.
As far as wakelocks and getting the phone to properly sleep. I know some people have suggested to get this experience, you have to change settings and not use certain apps, etc...
Is there a rom out there thats not sense that will allow the phone to sleep to get good battery life, etc??
I love pure android and I love this phone, but I have tried and tried and I cant find a rom / kernel combo that meets this need.
If you have success with this phone and an aosp rom, please share so I can try it out...I really want to get away from sense.
What keeps me on sense is the ability to very easily make it though a day on a charge and the camera. The new 4.2 camera is a huge upgrade that "almost" nullifies that area, but the phone constantly waking up and battery life draining 10-14% overnight while the screen is off kills me.

Download the Better Battery Stats, I'll know more info from that and will be able to help you.
Yeah i agree. Its a great app. For me this is what helped:
Disabling notifications and auto refresh on Facebook. Disabling location reporting etc in Google maps.
Battery drain is still worse than on Sense but wakelocks have been seriously minimised.

EHNDROIX V problem for the I9003

I just flashed the ROM yesterday and everything's working fine except that I noticed that even if the screen's turned off, when I get a new notification (and even when I don't sometimes) the buttons' LED flashes and it stays like that unless I turn the screen on. Anyone else having this problem? I also noticed that the battery is draining pretty fast, can someone tell me their performance settings for lower battery consumption? Other than that, ROM's pretty stable, has a slight lag but oh well.
P.S I'm sorry if this has been asked somewhere else, I looked and couldn't find anything. If it has been, just tell me and I'll delete this.

I am on the 2nd last release as of now and havnt faced much battery drain issue..with 2G or wifi i get around 10-12 hrs of backup which I think is decent enough. For the LED issue also I dint face anything like dat..only for notification it'll glow. I think u shud do a clean flash and then see the difference. :fingers-crossed:
Hi, I use that one, too.
I suspect as well, that what you describe is not a bug, but a feature - for me, the LEDs glow when there's a notification. In terms of battery consupmtion, it's much better than stock GB ROM: I had more than 24h battery lifetime for the first time on this phone.
I recommend using the 14.3.29 version, though. some users have reported battery drain with 14.3.30

Really? I had a terrible experience with it. I loved the way it looked but battery drained extremely fast and after a few days I started getting the "android.process.acore has stopped" and then all of my apps force closed one by one. Now back to stock GB, battery lasts much longer although I miss the KitKat feel. Haha. I'm looking for a stable ROM for daily usage now, until then I'll stick with stock ROM.
