I just flashed the ROM yesterday and everything's working fine except that I noticed that even if the screen's turned off, when I get a new notification (and even when I don't sometimes) the buttons' LED flashes and it stays like that unless I turn the screen on. Anyone else having this problem? I also noticed that the battery is draining pretty fast, can someone tell me their performance settings for lower battery consumption? Other than that, ROM's pretty stable, has a slight lag but oh well.
P.S I'm sorry if this has been asked somewhere else, I looked and couldn't find anything. If it has been, just tell me and I'll delete this.

I am on the 2nd last release as of now and havnt faced much battery drain issue..with 2G or wifi i get around 10-12 hrs of backup which I think is decent enough. For the LED issue also I dint face anything like dat..only for notification it'll glow. I think u shud do a clean flash and then see the difference. :fingers-crossed:
Hi, I use that one, too.
I suspect as well, that what you describe is not a bug, but a feature - for me, the LEDs glow when there's a notification. In terms of battery consupmtion, it's much better than stock GB ROM: I had more than 24h battery lifetime for the first time on this phone.
I recommend using the 14.3.29 version, though. some users have reported battery drain with 14.3.30

Really? I had a terrible experience with it. I loved the way it looked but battery drained extremely fast and after a few days I started getting the "android.process.acore has stopped" and then all of my apps force closed one by one. Now back to stock GB, battery lasts much longer although I miss the KitKat feel. Haha. I'm looking for a stable ROM for daily usage now, until then I'll stick with stock ROM.

My battery drops 5% under 1 min without even use of the phone, even when the phone's on standby. After about 3 hours of moderate use (seesmic and whatsapp) it'll drop from 100% charge to about 50%. Sometimes right after I plug it out, I can see the battery drop to 99% then 98 and so on.
I'm running Pinnacle 1.3 now and I was of the impression that it was a great ROM for battery life. Before this I had a stock GB ROM, and then CM7. On CM7, the battery was also horrible.
I've run battery dry then charged it back to 100% and did battery calibration. still horrible.
any suggestions, please?

The battery life was ok with my stock GB ROM. I'm hopeful there're other solutions that don't include buying a new battery.
Sounds like you have a rogue app.
Edit
Try watchdog lite from the market. It should help to isolate which app is gone rogue.
Ah, thank you. I'll get Watchdog and hopefully find whatever is causing all of this.

If that doesn't work maybe just try reflashing. Make sure you have 100% battery when you flash as well. I've used ROMs before that I knew had good battery life and sometimes when I flashed them my phone died fast. I remember it happening on Serendipity VII before. Didn't make sense cause I had good battery life with it before, but that flash didn't go well or something. Reflash brought back good battery life.

I'm not sure what Seesmic is but if you're doing a lot of web browsing that's definitely what is killing your battery life. The display will use more power than pretty much any app out there. I have my screen brightness as low as it'll go and I don't leave my screen on for a long time when I do turn it on. Plus the white colors of websites uses more energy on AMOLED screens.

Yes I also have the Samurai kernel, along with Voodoo. Still no dice though. I wish I could get the battery life I hear so many people talking about. I've been told to try out dlev 5.0.
Also make sure you have Automatic Brightness, Auto-rotate and Power Saving mode turned off.
i have brightness to the lowest, no auto brightness. i don't like auto-rotate so i keep it off. but i do have power saving mode on. why would that be off?
where is "power saving mode" setting on a captivate? simple questions:
1. when did you flash the rom?
2. Have you seen in settings which process/app is using your battery?

It did for me. I can't remember if I saw the battery life drop after flashing the 4.2 kernel update or not. I think when I reflashed I didn't flash anything and left it with version 3 or whatever it comes with.
Also, on Pinnacle I am using all stock stuff (kernel, modem), not the Samurai kernel or anything.

It should be off, it works with auto brightness to keep it dim and "save power" but if you're not using auto brightness its just another process running that is wasting resources.
Auto brightness is pretty useless on tw roms because that handy brightness adjustment by holding down the status bar and moving left or right.

1. Like Reamer09 says refash.....BUT don't forget to wipe data, wipe cache and dalvik cache. Wiping data and cache just before reflash.........it helps with my battery issues. I don't think there is any ROM out there with that bad a battery life. No dev would let that pass
EDIT: Just re-read.....your battery dropping like that after recharge can be a kernel issue......it happens to me on a a particular kernel (will not name ! devs all work very hard on their kernels.....) and flashing another one helped.
Ok I will reflash it. I've also noticed some lack of responsiveness while using the phone. For instance when I select an option in a menu anywhere, it pauses a bit (probably a second or two) before it carries out the selected command.
Another example is while I'm typing, I have haptic feedback on and so I feel a vibration everytime I touch a letter. The vibration is usually just a short buzz, but once in a while I feel a strange longer vibration. It's weird, really. I hope reflashing will also help with this.
I am running ARHD 6.5.5 with faux kernel at stock cpu freq. I also have the ICS AOSP aroma theme, with mostly AOSP apps.
You can see from my screen shots that my battery life is terrible, and that is with juice defender on too!
Can someone tell me if theres anything i can change to get better battery, or if there are any ics ROMs out there that will give better battery?
I have wiped battery stats off a full charge but that made no difference. One thing I thought it could be is that I may not have had full battery when flashing the ICS firmware update - but this would have been fixed by battery stats wipe right??
Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this!
Could be a few things....
First thing is to make sure you give it time to get a good battery profile. Let it charge all night, then clear the battery stats in the morning. Then let it go all the way down to 0 and shut off without interruption. (Meaning don't restart it if you can avoid it)
The first day will be pretty bad. The second day should be much better. The 3rd day should be really good.
If you've done that properly and you're still getting 10 hours of battery life, something's wrong.
You could have a wakelock, something that's keeping the phone running all the time even with the screen off. An app could cause this, but it doesn't look like the case based on your screen shot.
The battery could be bad. This can be tested with another ROM to see if the problem replicates itself.
The ROM install could have gone screwy somehow. (Though for the life of me I can't think of how.) But wiping clean and starting over might help.
You can also underclock the CPU. Make it run at like 350 mhz when idling. That'll help a lot.

Thanks a lot for the reply, you seem to know what your talking about... What about the firmware bit I mentioned, could that have anything to do with it?
I will re-try the battery calibration procedure you suggested - if it does not help what rom do you think I should flash to rule out a bad battery?
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA
You didn't mention anything about firmware. But that should be a factor either.
Also, now that I think about it I think ARHD 6.5.5 might have had battery issues. I know one of the 6.5.x versions had poor battery life.
I run 6.5.3 myself and it's super ultra ridiculously battery efficient. I mean like 2 days between charges efficient. And I plug it in at the end of the 2nd day with like 20% left still.
Try starting over with 6.5.3. Or bump up to 6.6.2 that's out now.
I also never had luck with those juice defender things. But that's me. Some people swear by them. I found them to just be in the way.
I have the same issue with battery and I don't understand why the battery is so crap
I'm also using ARHD 6.5.5 with faux kernel. The first two three days were not spectacular but after that stabilized. I first ran it at the faux stock Cpu freq of 1.5 ghz and when I plugged for charging at night was usually at 40-55% depending on use. I'm running it now at 1.2 ghz (is a sensation 4g after all) and is usually 65-85% when I'm back home, depending on use.
I might add that I ran Rom Cleaner 3.5 to slim down the rom and also shnizlon AOSP them with the option of removing HTC apps and widgets

The problem was ARDH 6.5.5, updated to 6.6.2 and now got awesome battery life! Also re flashed the firmware off a full charge, that could have helped but I'm not sure cos I did it all at once.

Hello,
I can't post in the BlindIce topic so I hope it's fine here.
I've seen only good reviews about the battery, that's the main reason I installed this ROM, but I seem to have a problem, my battery drops like crazy. In ~2h it already went down to 86%, and all I did was send 2 SMS. On Endymion I didn't have this problem.
And I also have a problem with the stock browser, it's moving like a snail, but the main problem is the battery, firefox/chromw is working fine so I can live with that.
I'll upload the battery log after I get home, if needed.
Sent from my Desire S using XDA
i was also very happy with it despite minor bugs but eventually many things sent me back to endymion i can guarantee pretty soon you'll be back on endy, ics roms are nice but until the kernel comes out there isnt really one that can rival endy
anyway back on topic, check things like widgets? especially things like youtube widget i just took mine off, having it there means its connected to the net cycling through the subscriptions constantly, thats an example most widgets add to drain quite well, check your syncs, which app syncing for how long, can you do it manually etc, weather apps are they syncing to frequently, which apps are using location? using better battery stats i found google locations is used in many things without me even knowing, all of these things should be checked and configured on any rom, there is nothing really specific, maybe your 3g is using up the battery? try switching to gsm only.. finally have you calibrated the battery or more specifically the phone; so it reads the battery accurately.. thats all the things i can think of off head to help
Thanks for your reply.
Anyway, all the config was done and there was no widget running so I guess it was something with the kernel/ROM that my phone didn't like, considering that I'm probably among the few or the only one which had such an issue.
And like 3h ago the battery was hot as hell for no reason, only Y!M was running, it literally burned my hand, there's still a little red spot, so idk what was the reason or what happend but I went back to endy, after the 3.0 kernel will be out, I'll try again, until then thanks and keep up the good work @devs.
The topic can be closed.

Any widgets (or sync's) running on your phone?
If so - how many and what kind?
The battery isn't that bad for me but on all of the ICS ROM's that I've used the battery drain issue is quite bad. Then again, I was using Virtuous Affinity for a while and the battery wasn't brilliant on that either so I've come to the conclusion that I will probably require a new battery soon.
But still, the battery on my phone on BlindICE has been better than on yours but I'm reluctant to switching from it now
my NS4G with MIUI 2.6.1 and Matrix 20.0 Kernal goes to 98% as soon as i pull off the charger. if i use it for 45 minutes unplugged its dead. if i use it while its plugged in, it will die!
should i get a new battery?
Yeah that doesn't happen to me... I would try a full wipe and reflash the same ROM (or a different one) and reflash kernel.
If that doesn't work then I would try another battery because that drain seems abnormal
I just wanted to say that I have been having similar battery problems. Using the exact same ROM and Kernel as the OP, today my phone died within 6 hours of use, with the screen having been on for no more than 50 minutes. I also turned off data, and sync during this time, and had my screen's brightness at the minimum.
I've wiped and flashed AOKP b-38 today, and the consumption seems to be much better.
Any thing to help?
thought i was the only one.
is it the kernal?
or is it because its time for a new battery?
How could I test to find out which it is...
Swap kernels. Probably easiest way to test.
Very possible its just an old worn out battery.

hoping its just an old battery.
ive switched to CM9 / TouchWiz mod thinking it might be the ROM
im going to use the stock kernal from CM9 for a day to see if i could tell a difference.

Well in that case, what have you got installed? If you have apps constantly syncing, that could be part of the problem. What are your battery stats saying is using the most battery? My phone gets warm, but as expected since its being used. If its not being used,it could be a rogue app or the phone could be constantly searching for a good signal.

Hey guys, for whatever reason I cannot get past an hour to an hour and a half screen on time per charge. I used to be able to consistently get 3 but for whatever reason that no longer seems to be the case. I use CM 10.1, usually the official but sometimes mastamoon's build. Intially I thought my battery went bad but even after replacing it with a new one I've seen no real difference. I actually replaced the phone once as well but still to no avail. Any ideas?
What's eating most of your battery? Do you have Better Battery Stats it has more specific info on wakelocks.
If you have no significant wakelocks first thing I would try is a different ROM/kernel combo. TouchWiz roms generally get better battery life than AOSP.

Yeah, but it seems like people usually end up getting better battery life on AOSP ROMs than I am. I haven't checked this iteration of CM but usually it's screen on time eating most of it and wake-locks doesn't seem to be an issue. It just drains super fast, especially with even 5 minute phone calls. I'm in the middle of Cleveland so signal shouldn't be an issue. Although it is usually yellow on the graph.
I would definitely install BetterBatteryStats and see what that shows you. I only run AOSP roms and while battery life isn't great its nowhere near that bad.
I'm having the same issue. No big wake locks, my phone just dies really fast. Running latest AOKP nightly with latest KT747 kernel

I also think it's mostly due to signal loss. You have an 8 hour no data connection. That entire time your phone is looking for a signal and killing your battery. I highly recommend trying to use a touchwiz rom, doesn't really matter which one. I used to use cm10 but it would drop my signal constantly. From my experience, touchwiz roms are much more stable when it comes to holding a phone signal.
There are some amazing devs who've made some cool aosp features and customizations built into touchwiz roms. Some highly customizable roms are goodness and hyperdrive. In my opinion, pair one of those with nova launcher and you'd get a very aosp like experience with the stability of touchwiz.
I also recently flashed the mb1 firmware, that's giving me slight increases in signal strength. Might just be a placebo affect, but I think it helps.

I am having a similar issue with stock, verizon OS. There was a system update just a couple days ago through verizon, and I installed it, ever since then it's been horrible. My battery usage blames it on "Media Server" though. Not really sure if it's related, but wanted to let you know in case it might help someone trouble shoot. Also, I noticed that since the update, my 4G icon in the top is on at the same time as my Wifi icon, which previously was just one or the other depending on if I was connected to Wifi or not.

Just disable the caller id app and the 4G icon won't show up. Also I don't think you get my post as I said extensive meaning watching movies and playing games with out any screen off time all in an hour and 40 minutes the person who started this thread is on an AOSP ROM and is getting the same. The main difference is I still had 2/3 of battery life left while his battery is dying or dead. Right now I have been on this phone for 3 hours and have about 60% of battery life left. I don't have a media server problem and on a custom touchwiz ROM with a custom kernel.
Usually the ROM is not a factor, its one of two things 99% of the time,.
1. a rogue app, that won't stop looking for location or data or is just hung
2. Poor or lost signal and the phone keeps boosting power to stay attached or search for signal;

Edit: As many have pointed out by now,
It appears that you are not getting the best cell signal on your phone. From personal experience, I can tell you that bad reception takes a huge toll on battery life.
You could try switching modems/roms to see if that will solve your problem. In my experience, I have gotten better signal using a TouchWiz ROM. However, I do miss the lag-freeness of CM
