Title says it all:good:
It's a good phone, resolution is great on the display, sound is alot louder than other htc devices I have owned including one x international ver. lack of a kernel that has system rw while phone is booted bugs me a little(dna had the same problem before also) rw for system is only working in recovery in a flash .zip. Overall I'm pretty happy with my purchase.
I changed my HTC One X to HTC Butterfly. This is my 2nd butterfly because my 1st butterfly has a little problem, which is cannot charge until 100%, it stuck at 99% and continute charging (my led indicatior always on red). My 2nd butterfly doesnt have that issue but i can hear a "tick" sound on the bottom of the phone when i press on that (just beside the charging port,on the left). Do you guys think i had a defect butterly?

Thx for the reply. I just got back from HTC Service Center here in my place and they say i can make another exchange for my butterfly because of that problem. But they said to me that my butterfly (Black) are out of stock and i need to wait around 1 week to get a new one. i thinking to bring back the phone to the dealer that sell the phone to me to ask for 1 - 1 exchange but the problem is the deal is really hard to negotiate:
The reason:
1. When i bring my phone back to the dealer to exchange the 1st one because of the charging problem, the dealer told that no handphone can charged until full except when i turn the device off. Im thinking "WTF"
2. He told me that because i installing the GSam battery monitor that cause the charging problem. He said to me that application cause the system to go crazy. (But when my phone is shut down and keep charging, the LED still in red and doesnt turn to green).
Finally he agreed to exchange the phone to me and right now i using the 2nd butterfly that have "Tick" sound on body issue. Should i go back to the dealer and ask for another change or should i go straight to HTC Customer Service and wait for 1 week to get a new phone? My 2nd butterfly only 3 days old
You sound OCD as **** man. Stop being a girl and get over the "tick" sound.
I'm rather happy with my HTC Butterfly X920e. Problems are no 4G, no wireless charging. I don't really need 4G but it is nice to have it you know, but come to think of it I rather live without it cuz it will just gobble up my battery. I'm really sad that the X920e doesn't have wireless charging, I was so stoked for wireless charging but then when I came back from my telco with my phone and read that it has no wireless charging, only the Droid DNA has it.
Only 2 things i dislike about my x920d. First, the charging shutter almost break into half after 2 weeks usage, it's very inconvienient because i have to open it at least 4 times a day to charge to maintain the gaming power drain. Second, the 16gb internal memory really small. Yes, i can have 32gb micro sd, but that is for music files and photos, not game data. Wild Blood, Generation of Chaos, Asphalt 7 and then a Chaos Ring, already eaten up most of the space.. Is the internal memory so expensive? At least give us choice to select larger capacity.. Maybe after few months, another butterfly+ like OneX+ will appear, will consider to switch for it.
Other than that, It's a best phone i used, fast gps lock, neat screen, good speaker sound, fast camera, real multitasking, 3d gaming with no lag, and almost zero battery loss during whole night with power saving profile
I love it. The screen is gorgeous. But there are times where I want to take it in one hand and smash it with a hammer with the other. Or just smash it to the ground and pound it to pieces with a huge rock.

As long as you have power bank with you all the time, the battery life is fine I mean if you want the standby time, it do it very well. But if you use it to play games, the battery will run out in max 3 hours.
Butterfly vs. One X+
What should I choose, HTC Butterfly or HTC One X+?
battery stuck on 99%
The performance of the butterfly is amazing but when I charge the battery is stuck on 99% for almost 30 minutes
when the phone is fully charged and I unplug the cable battery comes back to 99 in a few seconds
is there any issue??

Had the g2x since launch day, loved the speed, size, etc. Never had a single reboot (actually did once or twice while charging in the first few days), screen bleed and had fairly good battery life to boot with fairly heavy usage. What more can you ask for, right?
So fast forward to today...i was in the middle of typing a text and battery died, I was at 1%. So I plug it in, turn it on and then it got really hot and non stop rebooting only while on the charger. Taking it off the charger would stop the reboots, plug it in again reboot cycle again within minutes (no sound to warn me its rebooting, no start up animation).
Eventually when it was on the charger the battery icon looked really weird, it was completely white with 2 circular arrows in it, never seen that before, anyone know what that means.
After a while the phone cooled down and has now been charging for he last hour with no rebooting. I did call Tmo and they are sending me a new battery and handset.
I am unsure what to do, keep mine since it appears to be fine now or keep the replacement items. I am not rooted completely stock with minimal apps installed.
I really, really dont feel like setting up all my prefs again and reinstalling apps. One thing is for sure i am seriuosly considering the HTC sensation now. Had the MT4G before and it was great, so my perception of HTC is high.

im kind of in the same boat as the op but not as bad on the overheating. how do i get a new battery? i bought from amazon and its past the return period.
My opinion of LG is really low. First the sd card slot died on my Optimus T and then numerous problems with my returned G2x. I hate to say it, but the grass is definitely greener on the HTC side right now. I will be checking out the sensation if permaroot happens.
yup, mine did the same thing. all was good for a month or so then boom my battery just freaked out. I wrestled with it a few days then last night it went from 100% - 0% in 6hrs while powered off. It's the battery. Get a new one.
Mine doesn't reboot...it just shuts off. Won't turn back on until I yank the battery. Only issue happens like once a day. But ill point out I'm now pissed Droid x gets gb Friday and I'm still using froyo...granted.by choice because I refuse to use a leak.

Not to change subject here but permaroot doesn't do much if the bootloader is locked. Gaining root doesn't mean custom roms or mods. You'll be able to use Titanium Backup but so what.
Also, back on topic. There are lots of reports that the batteries are bad and if it is over heating I'd definatly replace it.
Tmo sent me a replacement G2x after I thought I fried mine. I fixed it eventually by flashing several CWM recoveries. The replacement had nasty screen bleed. Needless-to-say I sent the replacement packing.
I was using my phone all day yesterday like usual I let my battery die all the way before charging again and today for some reason my battery is dying quickly.
Took off the charger at 6 am and it is now 11am and I have only 50% usually I have 70% or so. I hope my battery is not crapping out on me... I guess Ill find out in the next few days maybe this is just a fluke... I hope...

I am on my third G2x. From the day I received the last one(3 weeks ago) it has been rock solid(NO reboots-no screen freezes- no dropping data connections). Two days ago I bought a router and decided to use wifi in my home. Since hooking it up and running the G2X on it I find that I have reboots-screen freezes and oh yes data connection dropped (numerous times)I guess the wifi is just not meant for this phone. 3 weeks of happy usage and bam!! wifi in the house. I have also had apps changing settings without my doing so( never happened before wifi usage<) Also now the Gps is even worse than before.Been running it without the wifi and still getting the same issues now. Oh how I wish I had just stopped after the second one and asked for refund. This could (and probably will be eventually) a super super phone. I just don't know if I have the patience to wait . I just ordered an Asus Transformer which will be here on 5/31/11, maybe playing with it will soften my stance on how I view the G2x at this moment. Anyone else had the wifi situation?
I'm rooted with cwm. I have random freezes but it appears to only be random kernels. As well as only certain versions of android. Once the gb update comes out, I'm sure alot of our problems will clear up...

Well, my inspire started the rebooting randomly thing a few weeks ago. I didnt think much of it because it would only happen maybe once a week. But that got a lil worse, started happening more and more. A couple of days ago my Inspire would not stay on. Right after powering on, it shows the HTC logo and actually boot all the way to the home screen, then shuts off. The only way I can keep the phone on is if connected to power. I suspect the battery died. The battery indicator says battery is fully charged. Tried wiping battery stats, did nothing. Unrooted and returned to stock and S-on. Went to ATT store and was given a number to call for a replacement or i can go to 1 of 3 service depot locations where I can get a replacement.

That sux. You're the first person I've seen here on XDA with that issue, that I can recall, at least, so I think it's safe to say it was an isolated incident...
Unlike the Samsung Captivate, where it was a frighteningly common occurrence.
Did you actually try another battery? Just curious.
(Your better off getting a replacement, as you are doing, because you don't want to be paranoid 24/7 of your phone shutting off, if indeed it's something defective internal to the phone itself.)

Yeah, unfortunately I have to agree. I have 2 here and both have different issues. One has a perfect screen but the covers fit like ****. The other has a screen that is totally out of whack and other little quarks not worth mentioning. Nothing to get worked up about but man. I also know that allot of inspires get returned for bluetooth issues and you may have guessed battery is **** issues. I love this phone, hell I have 2, but man what is the deal with htc's quality control. And whoever the fluck decided to put this tiny ass battery in this hog is wonked in the head.
The only thing I don't like about my phone is the stupid battery cover. The first time I tried to open it back up after installation I think I broke or bent a guide tab, because the door sticks out a hair more than original. But I have a case, so its not bothering me.

Replace the battery, clearly its the problem..
COuldve been worse. I should complaint to At&t or HTC and get a new battery so I can replace if my Inspire died hahahaha.
Connected to the htc charger the phone wigs unless touching the phone while touching the screen. Connected to my vibrant charger it works fine without issue,no need to ground it.
I know people said connected to charger it has issues but its specifically the stock one (atleast in my case, hopefully you too) and the charger itself causing the issue. So get a new charger. Htc will have to make new ones cause these are junk.....

No issues so far. Charger, no charger, holding it, not holding it. Never any problems with screen responsiveness. But I've only had it 3 days, so we'll see. Knocking on wood while typing...
Dude, you might actually be on to something. I have come to the conclusion that whether anyone believes it or not. The touch screen issue IS NOT a software issue. I really do think that over time, the device is holding on to static electricity which is causing the issues. My old phone that was doing this would stop after I pulled the battery for 1 hour but would start to act back up as the day went on.
Plus, this is the first Android device I've used where the battery starts acting up if you don't use the cable included with the Sensation.
I had the exact same issue. I use my MT3G charger now, as I like the shape much better. I hate how the Sensation charger sticks out so far from the wall.

I too have this problem but not with the stock charger. Since I got my phone I have been using the same old no name charger with no name usb cable. Until I came upon this posting and tried to unlock my phone or type something while it was charged it would go crazy. I even touched the phone as in the video and tried to use the touch screen but it didn't work as normal. Now I have to try and use the stock charger to see if its the phone or the charger it self.

I can certainly say that it the problem affects more devices than you think. I'm not totally sure what causes it but you guys should see my zune hd.. It will literally control itself. Play music by itself, go in and out of menus (super fast by the way). If you guys want a video I can upload one if I can find it... It freaked me out when it first started to happen keep in mind, the zune is perfectly normal and works fine. The charger was one of those cheap chinese stuff.. So it could be a quality issue. My Nexus1 used to do that on some chargers. Had to turn the screen off and back on to get it to clear up. Figured they were just slightly out of spec chargers and tried not to use them anymore.
Hey Guys. I was charging my Sensation XE, and after about 3 hours or so, when I picked it up, the touchscreen wasn't responding (but the power button was working). I pulled out the battery and after that I was able to turn the phone on just once. After the touchscreen still didn't respond, I tried pulling out the battery again. The phone didn't respond whatsoever (PC, AC charging).
I did go to get a new battery today, but while the phone did turn on with a new battery, the touchscreen still wasn't working. The store didn't have an XE battery (I would get it tomorrow), so I wanted to ask you guys if you have any suggestions, or ideas?
(Details about the device are in my signature).
Thanks in advance.
The same issue happened to me some days before and after doing so much research on the matter I found it was the charger pin which was doing this..I changed and touch screen works fine since your touch screen isn't working completely mine was working but not comfortable enough....

Eureka!
UPDATE: So after struggling for days a with battery problem (my country just doesn't seem to have a HTC Sensation XE battery, and I didn't wanna degrade to a Sensation's), I got the idea that since my battery has gone days without any charging, it might, just might, be able to hold some charge again. So I put it back on charger, and voila, it was able to charge. I tried going to fastboot, but my PC couldn't identify the device (FASTBOOT warned me of a very low battery level), but in the end it didn't even matter (Love LP).
Initially, android was able to boot on battery, but it didn't recognize the AC charging, and the phone shut down immediately after pulling out the charger. After multiple tries, it finally recognized the charger, and I am afraid to touch it lest it dumps me again.
Apparently, it also solved my touchscreen issues (I didn't have to reflash the firmware). Taking a guess, I would say that the low voltage level cannot allow the touchscreen to operate at all (the POWER and VOLUME buttons worked fine). After my phone recognized the charger though, the touchscreen came to life as well.
I am posting this so that anybody who runs into similar issues can benefit..
What didn't help me:
A similar HTC battery (for Desire I believe) with 3.8 V rating (Sensation XE has a 3.7 ~1700 mAh battery).
The HTC Service Center. The guy told me that the battery is dead. Fair enough. Apart from that though he put the above mentioned Desire battery and when the touchscreen didn't respond he told me told me that it would cost Rs 8000 (~$126) to replace he whole screen). So better watch out at the HTC Service Center (at least in India, I am very disappointed with their service).
just to know any kind of services are following specific politics about fixing issues
that's why in most cases they are saying we have to replace this,we have to replace that etc....

Yeah, but $126 is kinda lot (I need to save for Galaxy S5). They are ripping people off with misdiagnosis. This is very bad practice on part of HTC. Samsung, Nokia have great customer service compared to HTC. When I asked if I could get a new XE battery, the guy flat out told me they didn't have one and since the phone is discontinued, no batteries (seriously!).
I could get an Anker, but overseas shipping makes it unresonable.
So have any of you had a problem with the M8 switching into dock mode randomly?
Mine has been doing this, first time it happend it only got stuck in dock mode for an hour or so. I charged the phone and it went away.
Then low and behold dock mode comes back with vengeance, and when it changes to dock mode it turns on the speakerphone. Which on the M8 we all know is wicked f'ing loud when you have it up to your ear.
So i was on the phone, dock mode kicks in, turns of the speaker, blows up my ear, and i drop my phone. The screen shattered into about 100 pieces. It was in a dot view case. This happened today.
I called verizon yesterday about the dock mode issue and they wanted me to do updates on the phone, when it was obviously a hardware issue. In order to replace it they said to bring it to the store. The verizon store doesnt open till 10am, seems weird they open so late. So i went to work, had to make a call then the above happened.
Verizon nor HTC will replace the phone because of the broken screen. I'm trying to argue this would have never happened if this phone didnt potentially blow out my ear drum.
What do you guys think? Any advice?
