[Q] p6800 won't charge, suddend death? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
i'v been using my p6800 with skyhigh rom 3.5 for a while.and few days ago while i was reading book it suddenly shut it self off ( in a way like when u turn off the tv, kind with crt effect). that time the battery was around 5%.
anyway i plugged it to the power source but nothing's happend. then i entered to download it, it worked, i run to plug it to pc, open odin, identifed by windows and driver stuff. sadly after very short time it shut off again before i do anything. seems it used the remaing power when i entered to download mode, and then i consumed it all and died.
anyone faced this kind of problem? any chance of fixning it? i have no warranty ( broght it from china shenzhen, 16GB).

Suggest you try leaving the charger connected for a period of time without removing the charger. It is possible the battery was discharged to the point where it needs to be charged to return the battery to its safe operating condition. After charging - try a long press no your power button? 30 seconds or more.. some both the power button and up volume to go to recovery. Hope this helps

+1 to the answer above. I'm also using the same ROM and I did use my tablet until it it had no battery left. I've waited for the device to cool first then plugged in the AC adapter to charge. This might be the reason why there was no response from the tablet when you tried charging the battery, there is also a thermal sensor for the battery which determines if it goes into fast or slow charge mode. And if the battery was deep discharged, there is no on-screen charging icon that shows up immediately. In my case I've waited about an hour before trying to power up the tab.

thanks guys. it was a faulty cable, replaced the cable and charged for a while and it started

Motorola XT 720 Start up problems

Why won't my XT720 start up?
When it is connected to my charger, the four action keys light up. Despite leaving it to charge overnight, it appears that the battery isn't charging. The phone won't start while it is charging, neither when connected to the mains or to my car power supply.
I bought a new battery without any improvement.
When I access the bootloader screen it says there is too little power in the battery to program the phone.
The phone is not recognised by my computer when connected.
The phone is running Froyo 2.2. with Dexter rom.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions......apart from binning the phone!
Thanks!
I think the phone likes to selfboot with too little charge. See if you can shut it down cleanly so it won't autoboot. It's annoying but you may have to watch it very carefully to catch it when it's trying to boot because it will drain itself back to death very quickly.

Hi Oakham, do you have any update to your case? I have the same problem now.
Yesterday, I noticed the battery bar went down to orange region (about 30%?). I plugged it to the wall for about an hour (the charging symbol showed up). Later I found out that the battery bar did not move (still stuck at orange region). Later the night, I tried to charge again (the bar was red at about 15% or less). The charging symbol showed up. Later I checked, the battery bar did not improve but declined. The phone eventually went out of battery and turned itself off.
I tried to continue to charge using both the wall outlet and PC USB. No luck. I could not even power up the phone now. Did you manage to resolve your case? Anyone got the same problem and found the solution?
I thought about buying a new battery to try, but then I saw your post, so I hesitated.
Thanks.

I've had this problem. Watching the phone closely while charging and pulling the battery whenever it starts to boot works. After about the fourth time doing this I got a battery charger from amazon for ~$5 because it's gently loving annoying.

Thanks for your advice.
So when you first bumped into this problem, how did you get it back to boot up?
I followed your advice to watch it while it's charging. When I saw the motorola logo showed up, I pulled the battery. Then I plugged it back and let it charged for some more time. Then I tried to power up the phone. The motorola logo came on and then the big battery symbol came on saying it's 100% full (but i knew it's not). Later, those 4 soft touch button lid on. This cycle repeated. And I'm clueless.
Please let me know the steps you took to recover your phone.
Thanks.

Once you get into the system use 'power off' from the menu. It won't autoboot then and you can leave it in the wall overnight. I think. A voodoo doll may work, too. It can be really frustrating, but I've been able to get out of it every time so far. Like I said, I got sick of this game and found a battery charger for pretty cheap.

Try deleting batterystats.bin and doing what M said.. can you get to open recovery and charge from there?
I also had the 'M' logo screen, stuck on-screen when the charger was connected. There is a post which suggests, for this, 'Pull battery.2) Insert battery and hit power button;3) As soon as you hit the power button, hold the volume up button down until the unboxing logo comes up.'
As my phone is still under warranty, I sent it back to see if there is a physical problem. I'll try the above suggested solution when my phone comes back from 'Motorola', whether or not it is repaired by them! I've also bought a battery charger for the phone's BP6X battery from e-Bay (£9.50, including another battery.)At least I will then know that a battery is fully charged before I try fixes.
Thanks for the other posts/replies!

In my experience OR drains faster than it can charge.
Sent from my XT720 using XDA Premium App
Damn!
I had about the same. Battery got drained down from 80% to 5%. Then the screen for "please plug in for charging" appeared. Some moments later the phone went dark and now I can't get it to work again. It doesn't react on the power button. Even when plugged in the charging-symbol doesn't appear. I can't turn it on. Sucks!
Any ideas?
My phone has been repaired by Motorola, under warranty, and returned after four days. Accompanying report is brief: 'Software update and screening'. Seems to be working fine.......just like a brand new phone!
This morning i find myself in the same situation. My phone have the soft keys iluminated but it didint work.OMG... what happend durring the night. So i tried to boot the phone but nothing happend, and after reading tje post on the problem i have tried to remove the battery and put`it back, tryed anothe reboot, and holdind the buttons power+vol up. Nothing worked. But when i have tried the combination power + vol up + cammera shutter and plugged the cable. at first nothing happend. but after i have relesed the buttons the logo apeared and started charging. after that i powerd on my phone normaly
My phone does that everytime it charging and I remove the plug when it's in sleep mode. I have to remove the battery and it's power on normally.

[Q] Bricked --> Battery Drain

Hi all,
So my transformer is bricked... completely been trying hard reboot, APX mode, holding power button, HDMI output the list goes on.
My only final resort is what I've read is draining the battery down and trying to recharge it? (Just need some confirmation here please if possible).
I've kept it in the dock, what I've noticed is, in the morning it was green LED now its gone to the amber so something is draining the battery I"m hoping I can get this down to 0.
How long do you guys think with both dock + pad and most likely on standby. Not too sure of the issue here
Anyway, I'm really reluctant to send this back to Asus RMA because in short:
1. First time I sent it, it got returned like a squeaky box. Every where you held it you heard a creak like it was about to snap. They didn't fix some things, and more dust ended up in my camera lens... + had to pay postage..
2. Half fixed, came back with wrong firmware (TW --> US). Could never update ever again, so microsd card updates FTW. No way was I planning on spending an extra month sending my TF back and forth... I paid extra to get the first batch B40 lol.. They replaced everything inside my TF motherboard, screen, Inside LED!?, buttons. Close to the works..
This happened right after I upgraded to ICS, it was the US stock rom booted up fine. my apps were updating, and as everyone else was saying about how some apps caused ICS to slow down I wasn't aware so I thought I would shut it down and power it back up. Since then it's not been able to come up ever again... Any suggestions?
What do you think?
Thanks in advanced.
One other thing, could someone check.. when tablet is docked and OFF. Do the usb ports still work?
Right now, when docked but "bricked" I can still charge my phone via USB.. If someone could test this that would be much appreciated as that could at least eliminate that my TF's battery is dead, right?
get it off the dock, hold volup+pwr, count to six and leave it for a couple of days. You can test if it's empty when you plug it in your pc via the cable. If you get the device plugged sound it means there's still juice there - unplug and press again volup+pwr. when you unplug it from the pc the tab shuts itself down.
if you don't volup+pwr before you plug in the usb it won't turn itself on. but it turns off automatically at unplug, as I said.
after the battery is down, plug the tab to the charger. I don't have the dock so I can only speak about the tab itself. Don't know why, but it works for me everytime. Hope it fixes yours, then, if possible, root and flash something.

Hi there,
Thanks, I'll that a try.
It's definitely charging and discharging, the battery brick is warm.. I've never had to connect my tablet to a windows PC. Today I did, it didn't make a sound.. Do I need to fully charge to be able to turn it on?
Normally not. I plug mine to the charger, I don't remember if it stats or I have to press power, when it boots the battery stays at 0% for several minutes.
Sorry for the late reply, did you manage to wake it? It's a long procedure of waiting mainly and can get annoying.
I'm still trying, earlier you had a thread about it poping up through the computer. What was the command you used in Linux?
Windows gives me nothign even when there was power in it.
Thanks.
Thank you sooo much!! It finally has powered back on, I hope this doesn't happen again.

ASUS TF700 no response

Hi everybody,
I was on twrp f2fs mode 2,7
Last time i used cromi-kk f2fs internal
I installed over cromi-kk a cromi-x 5.4 with hunds extreme tweaks data2sd
Tottaly forgot to reinstal normal twrp reformat internal memory.. So i had that screen encryption failed,
I restarted my tablet to fastboot, and it hang up, after like 5s turned off automaticly, and since then stopped working.
I plugged in to charge and went to sleep ( for about 6h). Battery indicator was green when i waked up. tried to turn on unplugged, no reaction, tried to keep it 5 - 10 - 30 - 60 - much more seconds, no reaction.
Then with volume button and power, no luck, tried reset still nothing. (no vibrations, no nothing, just dead)
I tried connect to a pc, pc doesnt find tablet
Any ideas, please help
So i was playing around some time with my tab again. Tried to do stuff, still no luck, possibly i bricekd or i fried the motherboard ? Before 6 hours i left to charge and still is red light (charging indicator).
May somebody help me ?
Should i try to discharge somehow ( i do not know how, maybe by pressing power button, and stuff)
Or should i try to charge like for day or two to wait, maybe it will turn back on in twrp or fastboot at least ?
Latest news so far, i charged the dock, then i connected with tab, and puted in charge with charger, so there was a while ( for about 16 hours) and the light on the tab is till red, no reactions still.. So what should i do, maybe somebody knows some tricks or anything at all. Charger works fine.
Have you tried a hard reset? Little hole near the SD card, insert a pin or small paperclip, there is a button inside that will force a reset when the external buttons don't work.

You said early that you fully charged the tab (green light); then you said it later went red. How did this happen when you couldn't turn the tab on? If either the battery or the charging circuit is dead, then the tab won't get any juice. But how did the battery discharge itself from full to nothing without anything drawing a current?
i have got no idea, what happend, but today, my tablet, after some i think "coma" state turned on. after some game with twrp, i am able to use cromi-x 5.4 again.
Before person asked, and i will reply yes i tried hard reset button, i tried every single holes and buttons, hdmi and so on.
It just came back to life. (plus charging is fine, because my dock charged up, but tablet didin't, and now i can see it, it charges up again)
I do not understand what happend. Point is , im able to use it again.
Thanks for help

oneplusone phone dead

So I had a extreme low battery alert, where it said cannot boot until more charge.
Stuck the charger in.
Battery wasnt going up.
Now it wont turn on at all with charger in or out.
So looks like either the battery is dead (non swappable) or the usb port is broke so isnt accepting charge.
Wow the phone is only 2 months old.
any ideas? or has to be returned for repair/exchange?
luckily was only using this phone for testing roms and stuff, not daily driver.

Try plugging into charge on a low power source via USB like a PC or laptop. Anything that isn't direct to a mains socket. It can help slowly replenish the battery, just leave it be for a while.
I just had a similar experience where my phone died overnight. Plugged it into my non OPO charger that I used with my older blackberries.
It wouldn't even turn on after 20 minutes of being plugged in. I decided to use a charger that outputted more energy and it immediately turned the phone on.
My advice, try using different charging sources.
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
I recently had this problem. Solved it with a simple google search which brought up O+'s own help page. Press the power button for 20 seconds 5 times in succession. This simulates a battery pull (there will be a vibration) . Now plug the phone into the original charger and leave it for a couple hours at the least.
You could also try to disconnect and connect the battery. For this you have to open the phone. Here is a little tutorial https://youtu.be/xLB4fhOyvuA
Hope this will fix the problem.
Same thing happened to my sons 1+, This is the reply form CS
Regarding your issue, please try with below steps:
1) Keep the phone for 12 hours without touching and charging...
2) Charge with official charger and usb for 6 hours(after the above mentioned steps) and then
3) Pull off the usb and put back again ... and you may get a LOW battery screen again staying for 4 / 5 mins...
4) Now don't try to boot or anything.. let it charge for 1 hour or more.
5) Now finally boot your device by pressing power button for few seconds
6) Phone should boot normally...
Trying it now

Battery drained, phone does not turn on.

Yeah, so the battery got drained, and now the phone will not respond to anything.
Pwr-btn + both volume-btn for ~20 sec did nothing. Will not take a charge from either PC or adapter.
I will be leaving it overnight in the charger.

Not to be skeptical or anything but how do you hold down the home button on a phone with soft keys when the phone is off?
---------- Post added at 11:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:52 AM ----------
I had a similar problem too, but I was too impatient to try the methods that required waiting for days. I voided my warranty by opening the phone, disconnecting the battery and reconnecting then closing back my phone. The battery started charging afterwards.
If you decide to go this route, i suggest you lookup information on nokia 3 disassembly so as not to mistakenly mess anything up
Well... I bought a nokia 3 today and after only 2 hours of use, wich included 2 software updates (from 7.0 to 7.1.1 and a november security patch) phone turned off, it was like 48% battery and sudenly it turned off.
After a couple of minutes I connected it to the charger and it's charging now, it says battery is 0% charged, so it went from 48% to 0% instantly. Appearently battery calibration is way off in this phone, just like the first generation of android phones when samsung and other brands didn't know how to make android work properly. I'm completely sure it's software related so hope they fix this in the next update soon.

Well ususally they recommend that you fully charge your phone after you first buy it (although i'm not sure how valid that instruction really is)
