Hello everyone,
Just yesterday i hav installed GSAM battery monitor app and when i check the 'battery used by apps' status in GSAM and in built-in battery monior, there is a big difference in stats measured by both these apps.
(Took screen shots of built-in battery monitor and gsam at the same time) For example the built-in battery monitor shows 'battery used by stock browser is 50%' while the gsam battery monitor shows it around 7%. (Plz see attached images)
Why there is a big difference in stats of both these battery monior apps?
My phone has Jb and it is S3.

Still odd but the built in one is not counting the screen time but GSam is and I think the % of the app is of the 78% if you get what mean.

No HTC stop the doing screen time with JB and I mean 79.5% was being lazy and not looking at the pic again lol what I mean is think of that as 100% and the apps % is of that but could be wrong not really added it up to make sure but ether way the built in one is crap because it don't show everything because there would be no way browser could get that high.

Yeah could be, the built-in showing the wrong info:S or may be it is showing info in some other way.
Btw has ur phone got JB? And does the built in battery monitor in ur phone also shows a high usage for stock browser?

Not on Sense JB but on AOSP 4.2.1 which shows screen on time. Not seen browser go that high before.

Maybe it's including the screen time used while browsing? Just a thought...

Yeah i was thinking the same. Because for almost every app it (built-in battery monitor) is showing high % than GSAM battery monitor.
May be built-in is showing apps % as an aggregate.
But still it showed a very high % of stock browser as compared to gsam :S

It's pretty damn simple. It's a widget, download from Market. You set it up, you can select an option to let it save current usage to a log file. End of.
Thx

This is one of the widgets that I tried that for some reason does not show Ma usage. It was working fine when I was running android on my HD2.

Current widget does not work on my Sensation - it just shows 0ma when the battery is draining (it does show a value when the battery is charging however).
On a similar note, has anyone found a way to see which apps are causing partial wake usage? Spare parts says there is no battery activity stats for this ROM when I try to view battery history.

Yeah, I have just discovered that too sadly
my sensation has same problem
it can't show battery current mA usage
try juice plotter,
it shows your consumption with a nice graphic.
Battery indicator pro works great on sensation
Current widget works on my sensation.
Both percentage and mA can be shown.
First impression is a larger consumption than on my HD2 with mdj android

Even the market reports that this dosn't work on the sensation...

I was a bit to quick with my replay....the sensation was charging through usb when I installed the Current Widget....after removing from usb I have the same problem....
In logging I have 0 mA and correct battery %
Sorry for the confusion!

I think that measuring mA usage is one thing that the Sensation cannot do no matter which widget/app you use.... this is a bit of a shame because mA usage to me is a good way of monitoring battery usage.
Hey ho...perhaps someone will produce an app that will work.
A
it works..
take Elixir... perfect widget for all type of handling or monitoring

Battery indicator from the market works just fine on the sensation. It places an icon in the notification bar that gives you a numeric percentage of battery consumption and has a pop up box that will provide additional information about battery usage.

It would be a value somewhere that could be changed but will require some digging around and probably root access.
Perhaps the limitation is built into the camera app itself. Does this limitation occur with any 3rd party camera app?
This limitation has been the same for all HTC phones released in the last 12 months or so. My old Desire HD used to do the same thing when the battery was "low".
it is pretty annoying, im sure a developer will find it soon, just needs a little digging around like jivemaster said.
Yeah, it is annoying. Gotta have your battery charged in case you go out at night I guess.
oh alright then
It is very annoying for me also. I usually go out for half hour and have 30-40% battery charged so mostly it goes below 30% and not having falsh enabled is a big mess. Since I am a photography lover & I love to capture precious moments. Someone should come up with with a way around.

Have you tried disabling power saver?
i always have it disabled
I had same problem. Solution for me was upgrading to latest ROM (2.3.4 ->1.45.401.2 ) ofcourse original, HTC ROM, because I bought this phone for sense 3.0 (i don't know why people write new ROM without sense and say ... My ROM is better... There is something wrong with them...I think.. ...
huh..

Flash a custom kernel. I know faux's kernel's have lowered the limit to 10%.
Controlled by the kernel.
Some custom kernels lower the threshold (as long as power saver is off).
Check the Sensation Development section and read up on kernels.
Faux and Bricked both offer lower thresholds, I believe. Check Unity as well.
The features and changelogs will be in first or second post of Kernel thread.
P.
I think it is great idea! What if you got ALOT of stuff to backup, and flash at the same time, and suddenly the battery runs out.. Think about that.
I am using Battery Monitor Widget Pro with standard battery. As i know standard battery on Desire S is 1450mAh, but in this program it is shows that battery is 1600mAh. I try this app on Wildfire S and it show 1230mAh, like it shoud be. So is it just me or somebody else notice this?? Thanks
Hey!
Mine shows 1450mAh! Maybe wiping battery stats will help... what rom are you using?
Same here, mine shows 1600mAh. Using CM7.

I'm on EX Kernel v1 and KYRILLOSv4. I got with standard 1500mah battery roughly 50 hours without much using and about 22 hours with normal using (gaming, browsing, chatting, calling, etc.). Internet connection and sync always active (every 30 mins facebook, emails and so on)
- try the tweaks from pimp my rom
- check if deep sleep is working correctly
- turn down display brightness (display drains the battery most)
- get a 1700mah battery (i'm testing atm)

a negative rating with explaination counts for me 100 times more than a postive rating saying "good seller received quickly". if you want to try it out then do and write a little review for us 5£ isn't that much.

when i was on ICS rom whether being cleanrom or viperxl i can get at least 24 hours with 2-3 hours of screen time. now with JB i am not getting that. i am using the same apps and widgets. right now i am using custom kernels(that is suppose to improve battery life). is JB using more battery than ICS?
i flash different roms cm10, aopk, miui, and sense base, and using different kernels. is it possible along the way something went wrong causing my battery to deteriorate?

I think I'm getting just as good battery life now as on ICS. ViperXL + undervolted elementalX.
I still have 29% left on that screenshot.
Try app called greenify from play store. I wasn't sure of it at first but it works great at keeping residual processing hogs like Facebook, Google maps, and anything else you chose in a frozen yet accessible state unlike titanium backups "freeze" which leaves it less accessible

i will give that app a try.
is one hour of game playing same as one hour of youtube? use same battery?
so i charge my phone this morning and it says 100% with green led light, then i restart the phone now it only shows 87%, so i shut off the phone to charge, took maybe 10 mins and it is back to 100%. any ideas??
Are you overclocking the custom kernel?
What radio? You might try the JB radio, as there might be a ROM/radio mismatch causing some extra battery drain.
i am using latest att JB radio with cleanrom 6. running vanilla elemental x 5.3, cpu set at 192/1350
