I expect these things, when this kernel is integrated in a custom ROM:
A notification on the ROM (eg on the ROMs release Thread), that the ROM uses the Kiwi++Kernel
A link to this thread (eg on the ROMs release Thread), so users can report support Issues to me
An information where I can find the ROM, so I can read the thread of the ROM, to find if there are support issues.
Kind regards Uwe

A210 and A211 are (nearly) identical. A211 has SIM Card, A210 not, but the Kernel is tested on A211 and A210

Of course the Kernel can go less then 1300 MHz. You must see two different things: System load dependent clock speed and OC limits.
Controlling the kernels clock speed dependent on the system load is done by a piece of software called Governor.
But this is an OC Kernel, with variable OC: 1300 (No-OC) to 1700 (Max-OC). With the Kiwi++Kernel OC App, you set the Level of OC. (It the only App which can do this and can only work with this Kernel)
The range, the Governor works in is something completely different. This is controlled with a standard tool like 'SystemTuner' or 'Antutu CPU Master'.
More detailed:
The things works like this: The OC Kernel reports at boot-time its clock speed range to the System generally as 0 to 1700 MHz. But internally there is a clock speed limit set (initially) to 1300 MHz (to control OC). When any System-Tool sets the clock-speed, the internal limit will be checked and the chosen clock speed will be cut, when it exceeds the internal limit. This internal limit can be varied with the Kiwi++Kernel OC App for now and/or for the next system start up.
Any standard tool to control CPU will work in the range, the kernel reported to system, therefor this range must cover the maximum OC range which means 0-1700 MHz, even the internal limit is set to some value below 1700MHz (eg 1300MHz).

This Kernel has root-acces via adb and allows rw-mount of /system, so you can push su-binary and SuperUser-App via adb when you have this Kernel installed on your system.
CWM is on Acer A210/A211 not included in the kernel, but in an extra partition. If you need CWM, I can show you a link where to find cwm for Acer A210/A211

Update 2012-03-13: Support for USB LAN adapter
The Kiwi++Kernel now supports USB LAN adapter.
As there is no support for those adapters in the Acer ROM, the Kiwi++Kernel provides an App to configure the ethernet network settings:
These USB LAN adapters are tested and will work:
Delock 62121
BobjGear USB to RJ45 Compact Fast Ethernet Adapter with AX88772 chipset
10/100M Network USB Adapter-DN-10050-1 | DIGITUS
There are also drivers for the following chipsets, but not tested as I had neither hardware nor tester:
Chipset ADM8515
Chipset RD9700
Chipset AX88xxx This should work with at least these devices:
Aten UC210T
ASIX AX88172
Billionton Systems, USB2AR
Buffalo LUA-U2-KTX
Corega FEther USB2-TX
D-Link DUB-E100
Hawking UF200
Linksys USB200M
Netgear FA120
Sitecom LN-029
Intellinet USB 2.0 Ethernet
ST Lab USB 2.0 Ethernet
TrendNet TU2-ET100
CDC Ethernet Treiber for DOCSIS cable modems. This should work with at least those devices:
Dell Wireless 5530 HSPA
Ericsson PipeRider (all variants)
Ericsson Mobile Broadband Module (all variants)
Motorola (DM100 and SB4100)
Broadcom Cable Modem (reference design)
Toshiba (PCX1100U and F3507g/F3607gw)
It might be possible that a device with a supported chipset is connected, but no adapter will be recognized. This happens, when the driver does not contain the vendor and device id. This is no problem, when you contact me, I will add the appropriate ids to the driver.
To provide the ids to me, you can use the Kiwi++Kernel Tools mask Kiwi++Kernel USB when the adapter is connected to the tablet:
Press the 'Copy to clipboard' button and paste the the information in the message you post to this thread.
Kind regards Uwe

Minor Update
When installing the new Kiwi++Kernel I forgot to delete the old tool. Attached is a CWM installable ZIP which does nothing else than remove the old tool
Kind regards Uwe

oh great, thx a lot! only for case something goes wrong (upload no working kernel etc), do you know how can I start tablet to fastboot mode for reflash when system wont start?

There exists a keycombination to boot into fastboot from turned off tablet, but the timing of this is very hard.
press power + vol-down until first vibration
relese power but keep vol-down pressed until second vibration
move the lock slider from right to left position
Its not realy relyable (I tested it several times and succeded only a few times), therefore I would suggest to take a CWM-Backup bevor flashing anything. If something goes wrong, you can use CWM recovery to undo changes.
Booting to CWM recovery can also be done from turned of tablet by a keycombination which is much more relyable:
press power and vol-down until first vibration
release power and keep vol-down pressed until second vibration
release vol-down and keep vol-up pressed until third vibration
kind regard Uwe

many thx, works both. just what I was looking for!! :good::laugh:
EDIT for entering to fastboot mode, dont wait for second vibration, after that it normaly start for me even if I move lock slider :cyclops:

Update Multiboot Feature added
2013-04-14 Update: Multiboot added
Now the Kiwi-Kernel has multiboot.
This means, you can format your external sd-card in an especial way and use a partition as /data partion instead of the internal /data partition.
This way, you can have up to fife separate data partitions (what means you can have 5 different profiles with different apps or the same app with different states, or one very big data partition (with up to 32 GB space).
To use this, you must start the Kiwi++Kernel Tool an choose 'External SD card'. Press 'Read from card to show the state of the card:
When you want to set up bootable partition check the 'Conform' checkbox. You will realize, that the amount of cylinders reduces a little bit. This is because a hidden partion with boot-information is created at the end of the sd card, when it should be used for multiboot:
Now you can set up your data partitions, each of it can be used as separate profil.
The data partitions need a name to be able to be selected in the bootselector-dialog. This name can be up to 15 chars (0-9 A-Z a-z):
When completed, press 'Write to card'. When the card was busy before this operation, it might be necessary to reboot. Start after reboot the tool again and press the 'write to card' button again to complete action.
Now you can configure the Bootselector dialog using the 'Multiboot' panel in the Tool:
Here you can choose wheter or not the boot selector should come up when a bootable sd card is available or when none is available. You can also set the name for the internal data partition in the bootselector. An with the menu option 'set bootpartition' you can choose which partition shoud be booted when the bootselector should not come up.
Whe you choose ton show bootselector, the next time at bootup you have a screen like this:
Hope you enjoy the new features,
kind regards Uwe

I suggest you load barsuk_CWMRecovery first, its down in the 2nd post..and do the usual wipes that you should do before flashing a rom..
Just a quick note, hopefully will save others some time too..
I think if you just went ahead and flashed the zip from the sdcard..
and now got 'android' loading with blinking cursor and no further..
For the hell of it, I did the same and got the same result..
The download is not a flash-able zip straight from the sdcard..
read further down for instructions
Then I went ahead and used the USB method..

No drama.. flashed and working fine.. just no camera at the moment.. I might play with some of the uboot's to see if it makes a difference.. but for now if you want your pad back.. I suggest go the USB route..
if you need a cable.. I use the same cable that comes with the usb cooling fans,
that power the cooling boards that people use under laptops.. Make sure you load the drivers or your computer will not recognize the pad.
Follow SmaRkieS thread and you should be fine..
If you cant burn the main android image using USB method.
You can try the MicroSD card method, but this is only applicable if your tablet will display the right uboot versions under the InfoTMIC start up logo.
@dyfren What does file zSYS.img?
I would say this is recovery.. I flashed it into this section..
hope this helps..
Will play over the weekend with it..
but at this stage running real smooth..

i had a go following the guide and it was fine until i got to flashing the actual Android image, (number 19 in the Guide). PC does its bit, then tablet comes up with "flashing/updating linux" (first bit tablet does) or something like that but the progress bar always stays empty, left it for 10-15 mins and still hadnt moved. tried the version in the guide and the version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067746
also tried SD card method, comes up with "Updating image hRamdisk" and a dead progress bar.
Which version of Android did you use at step 19?
Thanks for your help so far, seems to be getting there

@hunterx: 4325 is working very fast. IT won't shutdown when in standby but drains battery faster.
Someone can explain how to modify the firmware to support the 3G _Barsuk_ as he had done?
Thanks for the new ROM, just installed USB method, works fine.
Generaly looks very "snappy" for a Pad with only 256mb of RAM.
Camera "force closes"; Youtube works fine, and Wifi also.
I'll keep posting as long as i play with it.
Sheers
anyone got USB1 or USB2 readable?
when I plug them in I am getting "preparing memory device" then "memory device ready for remove"
To me, this is saying that it see's it.. but for some reason is calling to unmount it straight away..
I would say it is fixable as we had a similar problem on other Roms.. its just setting up the right command..
I have loaded a mix of drivers in to the system/lib/modules...but no success..
Then tried to use terminal but not getting access in to the root..
I kinda need to learn a few more commands in terminal..
(Back to DOS days..)
is there a cheat sheet around for the basic commands?
was playing with the aps2sd.. got the sdcard formatted with a sd2ext
But its a no go at the moment.. as even with TB backup
This Rom is not mounting into it..
As said before, I can't even get script manager to load up so can't load V6 scripts..
Maybe someone will have better luck then me..

question about the flash
Last time I flashed is a while ago so dont know if im doing things right.
So ive got a few questions before I will flash
On startup my pad shows 0.6.1.2. (587) at the right bottom
So can I skip the uboot part of the SMarkies guide?
The folder of 4325 contains more files than mentioned in the guide if i'm correct I only have to use : Kernal, user, system and ramdisk? Please confirm?
Do i have to use ramdisk in 4325 folder or the one mentioned in the Smarkies guide?
Your advice please have to use my pad on christmastrip for my kids so I cant risk to brick it
It's not a problem with this Rom, I also faced the same with previous versions and stock Rom, any of you guys face accelerometer axels inverted when playing games like Raging Thunder or Labyrinth? When bending down turns right and bending up turns left.
Strange, it happens with all games and still can’t find a solution.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Try this patched lib.
View attachment libreference_ril.Universal.zip
Is new solution for 3g. It is much easier. Who want may create update.zip for CWM.
Just replace original lib and set permissions to 644 (owner root).
EDIT
Some patched binaries and libs: View attachment patched_binaries.zip
Include wpa_supplicant with ad-hoc (not tested), vold with ntfs support (need to load kernel module first), ril libs with disabled check for modem model (for gsm only, not for cdma).

Flash all the files as per no:18 of the guide.. but use the ramdisk that comes with this package - dont use sMarkies at this stage - I flashed it to see if any difference but it only was for reading of the USBports.. the one with this package is stable enough

Hi I was playing with my fathers tablet, he did not leave a sdcard with it, I see there is a 1.17G internal storage but I see no way to use it.
Camera and other apps ask to insert a sdcard intead of using this space.
Is there a way to use it instead of a sdcard ?

The reason is most users use a card... flash the attached boot_internal.img as replacement to the boot.img that the kit came with and you will be able to use it.
No sd card

Is there anythin else than flashin the boot_internal.img ?
I flashed it and the camerra and gallery still ask to use a sd card to work.
It's not a big deal I shall get a cheap sd card soon I just wanted to try it more deeply.
btw... do you know if Angry Birds can run on these ? I tried it and it brings a black screen and returns to the desktop without any error messages,
in the logcat it says something about not being able to compile vertex shaders in gles2. I was wondering if it's a gpu support issue or if it could be related to the fact I dont have a sdcard right now.
In anyways THANKS a lot.

Hi, I was wondering since the bigest issue of this device if (for those not stuck in my situation "no sd card") could use the internal storage space as a swap space ?
I did notice using a terminal emulator that there is no "swapon" and "free" command.
just my toughts.
Hi kibmcz, thanks for making this rom, I'm looking forward to using it. My only issue is that your link to the recovery rom/files (n7p12_rescue_kit.zip) seems to be broken.
Any chance you could fix the link or tell me how to make my own?
Also, any idea if Netflix works with this custom rom on this tablet? On the stock rom I get sound playing but no picture, just a black screen. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Stock link updated... also this was based on the netflix update stock rom so it should work.
Many thanks!
Apologies for the double post.
Today I tried installing this rom but I can't get it to work. My problem seems to be that I cannot get the drivers installed. I have tried this on 3 different computers, all running Windows7, two are 64bit and one is 32bit. I held down the volume buttons and windows recognizes a new device, it then searches for drivers on Windows Update. It says it does not find any and that's it, it never asks me to give it the drivers. So on all 3 computers I tried going into device manager, right clicking the device, and choosing "Update Driver Software...", then I pick the appropriate folder (drivers/32bit or 64bit/win7) but it always just says that "Windows could not find driver software for your device".
In device manager sometimes it shows up as "Unknown Device" and sometimes it shows up as "M3-CHIP".
My nextbook's model number is NEXT7P12, The serial number is: YFG101212356.
Any suggestions on where to go from here? Thanks.
question
about how long do you have to keep pushing the volume buttons? also do we need to have usb debugging checked marked?
thanks

Once windows detects new device that needs driver you let go.. also the usb debugging is useless due to the oddball usb host mode implementation.
Any other ideas at all on how to install firmware on this/get windows to recognize the drivers? I have tried this every way I can possibly think of. Do I just have a dud tablet?
It keeps getting stuck in M3-Chip mode (that's what it shows up as in device manager, this isn't what it is supposed to show up as after holding the volume buttons is it?)
Thanks.

I have the same issue, my SN also starts with YFG10, it's the 4gb model with google play. Our version of the tablet has a different processor, the AML8726-M3 Cortex A9. Per my research, this is an RK3066 chip, so the drivers needed are RK30, along with the RK30update.exe I have downloaded these files elsewhere, and manually installed the RK30 driver, but it still seems not to be recognized.

This will not work on that model and its not adviseable to even try to make it work since the google play models may use different layouts and as you already found out are based on different chip.
You have to use the M3-CHIP driver. I attached the complete AML_Flash tool with all the files (inside you will find the drivers of M3-CHIP)
I hope this let us begin development for AML8726-M3 base tablets!!
WARNING: If you are on the RK3033 based Premium 7 SE with Google Apps (Detected as M3-Chip mode) do NOT flash this it may potentially brick it.
driver issue
i am also having a driver install issue windows 7 64 bit shows in device manager but will not install rock usb drivers....any way around this?
ive tried on a second pc and had the same results. windows cant install the usb drivers
SOLVE.. Thank you so much for this tool..great job
kibmcz, thank you very much for making this rom. for the flashing, I followed your instructions and there was no problem on nextbook 7 se with a serial number starting with yf0912. everyting is fine.
but some point, i got into play store and found that i could not install some app that it can run on other andriod tablet such as babel rising cataclysm. when i tried to install it by calling the app via web browser and selected play store, always show me "your device isn't compatible with this version" (another apps that i usually use it on my family tablet is banking, same and connot install on nextbook 7 se).
I tried to get the answer from the internet this problem is from the hardware or some configuration on my tablet but get nothing.
you have an idea about this? kindly advise me.

This is for the rk2918 based model it won't work on the rk3066 models and even more so it could risk bricking them.
Note: There is no stock roms out for the rk3066 based nextbook tablets so a bad flash will leave you without device.

kibmcz, I've been thru this whole thread and I can see that people are having problems with the RK30 chip, but from what i can tell what narongritl has said, he either has figured it out or got lucky, which I was hoping to get more details out of. We both have units that have similar serial numbers YF0912XXXXX. So I was hoping our units were the same.

Update 11.04.2013: Data Resize partition to 2.74GB Detailed description from here
1. We backup with recovery.
2. Unloaded and 2.74GB decompressed data (Thx to spanish friends! ).
3. SP Open Flashtool and as we have done before installing the recovery in scatter-loading MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt select the file in the folder where we unzipped 2.74GB Data
4. We ensure that only EBR1 and EBR2 are marked.
5. We Give to Download, accept the prompt, connect via USB the phone off the PC. As with the recovery if the process fails, disconnect the cable, remove and put the battery and repeat this step.
6. If all goes well, will back the green circle. Disconnect the phone from the PC.
7. Now we go back to recovery (Turn on the phone by holding the power key + volume +).
8. In the recovery do wipe data / factory reset.
9. Optionally if you want to restore the data and installed applications we advance restore, choose the backup you made in step 1, and finally we give to Restore data.
10. Reboot from recovery. In this first boot after repartitioning we may see a notification saying the phone storage is damaged, then click in it. It will show a dialog box asking if you want to format the SD card, does not refer to the External SD but the phone's internal memory, so we do not fear clicking on Format. After doing the latter, voila, you have the Data partition (where apps are installed) extended to 2.74GB

And it's NetworkLocation.apk is missing, i tried a couple of NetworkLocation.apk from JellyBean gapps zip files, no one seems to work, either not installable, crash on boot or not working.
3G connection seems to be dodgy, H/H+ is shown on the top bar but data is not coming down normally, during 1 minute, only less than 100k data come down and not able to load even 1 page...
Anyone has the same problem?

Yes the baseband or antennas seems to be crap.
Start download and remove your hands from the device or take it only with two fingers on the upper side, then my downlads finish and downloads show normal values. Speedtest with upload is seems to be fine,...
If someone needs root or cwm write me pm, or give me public upload location I´m not so experienced with this,...

The MT6589 is really good stuff, for me its my personal Favorite , but I would prefer smaller devices with 4-4,7" max screensize.
5,5" and higher does not really fit in any shirt pocket. If I ever have to carry a bag for my phone I would prefer a tablet with much better screens and battery life.
So i´m looking forward to Jiayu G4, G5, UMI X1S, or something similar screensize

Data upload is stable, and downlad has good values for a while, but slows down from time to time. So I think the device is not doing completly wrong. There needs to be still some finetuning in Baseband and Rom like man other devices always need.
The performance and quality is really good, even +2 days Batter lifetime is a good value for this powerful device.

Hi fmehrtens, may I know the RAM and ROM capacity of your phone model? I am wondering if 8GB ROM and 1GB RAM model can be rooted using same method, thanks.
Spec says 8GB ROM and 1GB RAM, however AnTuTu shows only 1GB ROM and 1GB RAM. Am I missing anything here?

And i found that the Miz Z1 is the same phone, but with Android 4.2.1 installed. Do u think it's possible to upgrade the Star OS version with the Miz Z1 firmware ?

It is a 4G ROM and 1G RAM. Just FYI, the first time I tried to root it did not root, I had to try it a couple of times, and then I also loaded the ZIP file on the ROM memory along with the SD card. It worked that time. Not sure if that's what helped or not. The phone is a really nice phone ecpecially after rooting. I am also having trouble with Amazon App store app, Netflix playing too slow and the camera focus.
Good Luck and Thanks!

I have got a Copy of the origin Rom done with SPFTools. If it is needed. You also can use the Scatterfile from the zip-file.
Do you have a link for the 4.2.1 Miz Z1 firmware ? Perhaps its a fake,...
Otherwise I will flash it to our device except the Preloader, so if it fails I could go back to stock.

First, thanks to the devs of the Android x86 project. Second, a thanks to the guys who have created the various patches that enable support for the Surface Pro 3 hardware in the Linux kernel.
This is an x86_64 build of Android (both userspace and kernel). The 32 bit only, as well as the 64 kernel/32 hybrid builds didn't work properly - 32 only wouldn't boot for me (YMMV?), and 32/64 would boot with audio but had issues too.
I and the other guys at the Android x86 project could very much use all the help and assistance you can provide in getting this device working. I'm not super up on the various tweaks possible and required within Android,
What Works:
WiFi
Battery and power status
Both Cameras
Power Button (only if you hold it down to shutdown; screen sleep does not work)
Type cover and mouse
Touch
Volume buttons
Video (DPI is not set to native, currently)
Not Working/Known Issues:
Random crashes
No OpenGL
Screen sleep/hibernate (works in Linux, I think)
Disconnecting the keyboard crashes the GUI, but it restarts
Rotation does not work, though I believe the rotation sensor should work
This is not ready to install, and the installer doesn't work. DO NOT USE THE INSTALLER
Sound does not work in this build; it may be a kernel config issue or a 64 bit issue as it worked on past kernels/builds (32 bit)
To install, download win32diskimager and use it to write the img file to a USB drive. You should then be able to live boot android from the stick, provided you have secure boot disabled.

How ironic - the volume buttons work and the volume doesn't, haha
In any case this is a great effort, and I can't wait to see where this project goes!

Indeed...strange since I had more broken previous builds work fine with the audio. I probably need to check the kernel config.
Thanks!
Thread cleaned of some Drama.

It works great.
Any progress? Would there be anything I could do to help? Very interested in getting it working. Did you modify the source and compile it yourself?
Tested on SP3 i7 256.

Yay! Thanks for trying it!
I haven't had a chance to mess with it lately but will attempt to sometime this week. As far as help, I don't have anything public right now but only have changed things in the manifest and kernel repos. I could put those up on github or bitbucket if you'd like to mess with them as well. Yes, I compiled and configured myself, and added kernel patches for the SP3. I need to see what patches are required for kernel 4.1, because I believe it has some native support now.

I honestly know nothing about Linux, despite a decent programming background in C...
But soooo many people would be interested in this for their SP3. So keep it up!! And thanks heaps.
If there's anything I can do though to help, PM me. I read elsewhere that people try different versions and distributions of Linux to find functional drivers for devices, and then try to import them into the Android x86 package. I don't know if that's the case or not but if you want me to try find working stuff from different distros, I'll totally do it.

To help, I'll always need testers (getting ready to try and upload a new build later today). As for distros, it's more just grabbing the appropriate kernel patches for hardware support. While some changes may need made to Android in places script wise for some hardware, everything else will "just work" once all the drivers are stable.
New build! See top post or: https://mega.nz/#!RUV3gAiJ!nKnKTPS94UtMNAGcrvbeAjoh8FntJ-WqHZF2mw2J36s
(removed) - bad build
Awesome!
The only thing is I'm not able to gain superuser access after installing(and so as live) so I can't install playstore.
The installer works for me; i installed it to my sd card. It would be great if the grub bootloader installer provides is a touch version.
If you install this build on your sd all the data is keept after the shutdown ?

No touch bootloader for now, but you could probably find one that would work.

You'd need to set the DATA= line in the bootloader, the Android-x86 site should have instructions.
Not mine, but rbg's build of Kitkat (now with the patches used here) for 32-bit, the most recent one, is rock solid! Sensors don't work yet and neither do the volume rockers, but everything else seems good!

I haven't built one of Kitkat yet, I'll have to try it with the patched kernel.
I just tried the latest build from rbg and it's great. Locking works, volume rockers and audio all work too.
But how do you install it? I've spent a few hours trying. I can't install from USB because the typecover won't work in the setup so I have to plug in a keyboard and use the MicroSD. So I shrinked the Windows partition and created a 32GB NTFS volume for Android and I've installed to it several times but can't get any sort of bootloader running.
I won't complain at all though. This is amazing and the installer probably has issues but I'll impatiently ask, does anyone know how to get it installed and bootable from SD or a seperate partition? (Not Live of course).
Thanks guys. And rbg.
I've not yet installed it but I think you'd have to setup a bootloader like refind or another, and if you need secure boot, you'd also need to setup a shim to be able to keep it turned on.
There are guides around that should work, I forget where, that you could adapt.

I got it.
I just used an old Lenovo laptop to install from the bootable USB to the Micro SD, didn't install GRUB but did select to install GRUB2 EFI. Now the SD boots on the surface. This is totally amazeballs.
Hmm, alright. Bit of an issue. Driving me crazy.
The first install I performed worked fine. I installed from USB to SD card, it was bootable, rebootable, and retained user data.
I broke it trying to install the Google Frameworks. No problem, just re-image the SD and try again.
Since then, for the life of me, I can't get Android to boot on anything other than FAT32 or NTFS. Ext2 and Ext3 fail, all I get is the Android boot screen logo graphic with the moving bright bar that moves vertically though the logo. That one.
And I'm scratching my head. Like heaps. I tried different SD cards, re-imaging the USB I use to install onto the SD with, formatting the SD as Ext3 using different software, cleaning with diskpart and using other utilities to fully zero the SD and trying all over again. I can't work out why it worked the first time. I deff use Ext3 the first time around and had the entire SD card worth of accessible memory. NTFS would be fine but I don't understand why the installer doesn't allow > 2GB disk images?
Anyway, I don't mean to steal the topic. Just thought I'd post my issues in case I'm making any obvious mistakes, or perhaps solve the issue before it drives somebody else cray cray.
Thanks!! So close.
Edit: Couple hours later... No luck.
FAT32 Works with disk image 2GB limit.
Formatting the SD as NTFS and running the installation or formatting the SD as NTFS during the installation always seems to result in a FAT32 disk. (I was hoping to get it running as NTFS and expanding the 2GB disk image manually).
Formatting as Ext2 or Ext3 results in a laggy infinite Android graphic boot screen. Instead of a smooth animation, it's probably about 1fps.
This is taunting me. :'(

NuVision TM800A510L- General Info (Root, Recovery, Unbrick)

Unbrick your Tab!
To unbrick your device all you simply have to do is go back to the CWM and restore your backup that you created earlier. If you don't have one, here is a copy of a working backup ---> Google Drive. Credits to @andrei_kr, say thanks!
How to fix touch!
If you unbricked your tablet and your touch isn't working, there is no need to worry. @andrei_kr has provided a guide on how to fix that touchscreen. Credits to him.
NOTE: If your touch is working then do not try this, it will mess up your touch!!
You probably got this touchscreen issue by flashing a different kernel with incorrect drivers.
Now your configuration is likely to differ from the native. You can view the konifig in command prompt or in the terminal :
Code:
cat /proc/gt9xx_config
(only mtk) or using the gtp_tools apk (it is in the attached file below).
It starts with the byte sequence: 0x41 0x1C 0x02 0xC0 0x03
0x41 - 65 version
0x1C 0x02 - 540 horizontal resolution
0xC0 0x03 - 960 vertical resolution
Touch must somehow work to press the button, if there is support otg, then it's easier, you can connect a mouse.
1. Install the gtp_tools_v2.6_20140126_special.apk
2. Go to the option Firmware update. Click refresh, see IC Version: 913_1020 then touch GT913 firmware and 1020.
3. Go to the option Config Settings, press read, the data were considered. Under Normal Config we have:
65 version
540 horizontal resolution
960 vertical resolution
4. Click browse, select click browse to the native config.
5. Native configuration take from your device, in the same paragraph, press the save (saves the backup config file). Native configuration for Fly IQ446 in the attached file. Press send.
6. If nothing has changed, look at the version you have and native config. Then change the version of the file in the native config in your hex.
Example: 0x41 = 65 home, a stranger 0x49 = 73 => replace the 0x41 to 0x49.

Thanks for report.
First want to say much thanks for this thread, it was getting frustrating trying to find a solution.
I have encountered a slight issue trying to unstuck 2 of these devices.
neither have been rooted and are stock devices.
i cant seem to get cwm to locate the backup that you supplied.
do i need to copy it to the cwm backup folder on my sd card?

Yes you do. Copy it to your sd card. Btw if your device is stock why do you want to restore this one?

Oh I thought they were working. Follow the procedure above to fix.
NuVision TM101A510L
Will this method work with the NuVison TM101A510L. It seems like a lot of work to do if I'm not sure about this model. Also I have a problem with this model overheating and crashing when I play Pixel Gun 3d and it's pissing me off. I just fired off a curse filled missive to NuVision support. They don't even list this model on their registration page and it seems they have no faith in this model. I will never buy this brand again, in fact I would recommend against it to my customers. I've used Azpen tablets with no problem rooting or playing Pixel Gun 3d. I took a chance and I'm so damned sorry I did.

Thank you so much for this thread!!! I have been looking for a recovery for a few months now and cant believe I didn't find this until now...
ok so a minor problem... I cant seem to flash the recovery... Not sure if ive placed the recovery file on my sd card properly or not cause i locate a few backup files none of which have any effect. I gave up in frustration untill now. ( Currrently working on a few androids one rooting one imea changing so figured id take a crack at these devices again. THe layer of dust on these things are getting a bit thick.)

I think the models numbers are specific so I can't say for certain that this will work with your tab. Try the fastboot/rooting procedure first and then maybe you can just restore the system partition only not corrupting the boot/kernel.

You are using the fastboot method correct? If the recovery script says finished as in no errors show on the screen then it could be the device itself. What do you see?

ill let you know just as soon as i can get back to working on those devices... im prety sure if memory serves correctly, that I was getting some errors regarding unable to mound sd or ext sd. I could be wrong but thats what comes to mind.
Im up to my neck in jobs on other devices. (rooting galaxy S5, changing imei on another S5, IMEI change on a LG Stylo 2 plus, Galaxy Tab 2 system issues need to diagnose, and several screen and lcd replacments)
STUCK
ok so i have a little time to work on these....
When i run the launch.bat and get to fastboot, it goes through the instalation and everything checks ok till the very end where it says failed cause too many links.
included the screenshot so you can see.
At this point im unsure if i just need to try flashing the supersu zip like it instructs but having tried befor it had no luck.
can I not just flash twrp on this thing then su like with most root methods?
after ive flashed super su, when i go to restor the working backup i see a list of backups... including yours but when i select it i always get :
checking md5 sums...
md5 mismatch!
what now?
(i tried just flashing the boot but even that comes back with same error)
I know on other devices the recovery is an img file any the one you provide is a rar... i extracted to my desktop and was gonna try flashing with abd/fastboot but since its not an img file, im thinking it wont work...
any thoughts?
Im still unsure how to flash the recovery that u supply in the section for fixing bootloop....

The too many links error is common for this device. Touch doesn't work with TWRP on this device so CWM is out only go. You can root and using cwm like any other root method.
