Hi I was playing with my fathers tablet, he did not leave a sdcard with it, I see there is a 1.17G internal storage but I see no way to use it.
Camera and other apps ask to insert a sdcard intead of using this space.
Is there a way to use it instead of a sdcard ?

The reason is most users use a card... flash the attached boot_internal.img as replacement to the boot.img that the kit came with and you will be able to use it.

No sd card

Is there anythin else than flashin the boot_internal.img ?
I flashed it and the camerra and gallery still ask to use a sd card to work.
It's not a big deal I shall get a cheap sd card soon I just wanted to try it more deeply.
btw... do you know if Angry Birds can run on these ? I tried it and it brings a black screen and returns to the desktop without any error messages,
in the logcat it says something about not being able to compile vertex shaders in gles2. I was wondering if it's a gpu support issue or if it could be related to the fact I dont have a sdcard right now.
In anyways THANKS a lot.

Hi, I was wondering since the bigest issue of this device if (for those not stuck in my situation "no sd card") could use the internal storage space as a swap space ?
I did notice using a terminal emulator that there is no "swapon" and "free" command.
just my toughts.

Hi kibmcz, thanks for making this rom, I'm looking forward to using it. My only issue is that your link to the recovery rom/files (n7p12_rescue_kit.zip) seems to be broken.
Any chance you could fix the link or tell me how to make my own?
Also, any idea if Netflix works with this custom rom on this tablet? On the stock rom I get sound playing but no picture, just a black screen. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Stock link updated... also this was based on the netflix update stock rom so it should work.

Many thanks!

Apologies for the double post.
Today I tried installing this rom but I can't get it to work. My problem seems to be that I cannot get the drivers installed. I have tried this on 3 different computers, all running Windows7, two are 64bit and one is 32bit. I held down the volume buttons and windows recognizes a new device, it then searches for drivers on Windows Update. It says it does not find any and that's it, it never asks me to give it the drivers. So on all 3 computers I tried going into device manager, right clicking the device, and choosing "Update Driver Software...", then I pick the appropriate folder (drivers/32bit or 64bit/win7) but it always just says that "Windows could not find driver software for your device".
In device manager sometimes it shows up as "Unknown Device" and sometimes it shows up as "M3-CHIP".
My nextbook's model number is NEXT7P12, The serial number is: YFG101212356.
Any suggestions on where to go from here? Thanks.

question
about how long do you have to keep pushing the volume buttons? also do we need to have usb debugging checked marked?
thanks

Once windows detects new device that needs driver you let go.. also the usb debugging is useless due to the oddball usb host mode implementation.

Any other ideas at all on how to install firmware on this/get windows to recognize the drivers? I have tried this every way I can possibly think of. Do I just have a dud tablet?
It keeps getting stuck in M3-Chip mode (that's what it shows up as in device manager, this isn't what it is supposed to show up as after holding the volume buttons is it?)
Thanks.

I have the same issue, my SN also starts with YFG10, it's the 4gb model with google play. Our version of the tablet has a different processor, the AML8726-M3 Cortex A9. Per my research, this is an RK3066 chip, so the drivers needed are RK30, along with the RK30update.exe I have downloaded these files elsewhere, and manually installed the RK30 driver, but it still seems not to be recognized.

This will not work on that model and its not adviseable to even try to make it work since the google play models may use different layouts and as you already found out are based on different chip.

You have to use the M3-CHIP driver. I attached the complete AML_Flash tool with all the files (inside you will find the drivers of M3-CHIP)
I hope this let us begin development for AML8726-M3 base tablets!!

WARNING: If you are on the RK3033 based Premium 7 SE with Google Apps (Detected as M3-Chip mode) do NOT flash this it may potentially brick it.

driver issue
i am also having a driver install issue windows 7 64 bit shows in device manager but will not install rock usb drivers....any way around this?
ive tried on a second pc and had the same results. windows cant install the usb drivers
SOLVE.. Thank you so much for this tool..great job

kibmcz, thank you very much for making this rom. for the flashing, I followed your instructions and there was no problem on nextbook 7 se with a serial number starting with yf0912. everyting is fine.
but some point, i got into play store and found that i could not install some app that it can run on other andriod tablet such as babel rising cataclysm. when i tried to install it by calling the app via web browser and selected play store, always show me "your device isn't compatible with this version" (another apps that i usually use it on my family tablet is banking, same and connot install on nextbook 7 se).
I tried to get the answer from the internet this problem is from the hardware or some configuration on my tablet but get nothing.
you have an idea about this? kindly advise me.

This is for the rk2918 based model it won't work on the rk3066 models and even more so it could risk bricking them.
Note: There is no stock roms out for the rk3066 based nextbook tablets so a bad flash will leave you without device.

kibmcz, I've been thru this whole thread and I can see that people are having problems with the RK30 chip, but from what i can tell what narongritl has said, he either has figured it out or got lucky, which I was hoping to get more details out of. We both have units that have similar serial numbers YF0912XXXXX. So I was hoping our units were the same.

[HOW TO] Root Nextbook8 Premium (and install market app) [UPDATED 1-17-12]

PLEASE BE ADVISED: THE AUTHOR OF THIS POST NO LONGER PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR THIS THREAD. HOWEVER YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOMED TO CONTINUE USING THE FILES AND METHODS AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION. GOOD LUCK!!
INTRO: For all those searching the internet trying to find answers as to how to gain root on your Nextbook8 Premium and also gain access to the wonderful android market from which we were greatly deprived (as is the case with many low-priced tablets these days), the wait is over thanks to a certain someone who goes by the name of DEVMONKEY. Of course I take absolutely NO CREDIT for this and only took the liberty to re-write it thus adding a little more detail to the process. Enjoy!!!
DISCLAIMER***I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS PARTICULAR ROM WITH MY N8 WHEN I HAD IT BUT AS THE PROCEDURE TO FLASH IS STILL THE SAME ALL SHOULD GO WELL. HOWEVER, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT MAY OR MAY NOT HAPPEN IF YOU USE THIS AND DAMAGE YOUR DEVICE. PLEASE FOLLOW ALL STEPS CAREFULLY***
[HOW TO] Root and install Market on your Nextbook8 Premium
UPDATE: This is post has been updated with a new rom to replace old one. Method of flashing is still the same so no worries. All those who want to upgrade to this rom from the one I previously posted in this guide when I first wrote it can just repeat the steps over again with the new rom package.
This rom is based on Samhain's release: SamDroid v1.13
Modifications (mostly GUI / cosmetic tweaks):
1.) cifs.ko / slow-work.ko / nls_utf8.ko are in /system/lib/modules and can be loaded using Mount Manager app from the market. This will let you mount CIFS/SMB shares to the device.
2.) Honeycomb-like launcher and updated GUI icons. (you can change it to any Launcher you want)
A couple of things to note once you have installed the rom:
- It starts up in Italian, so open Android settings "Impostazioni" and go to the "Lingua e tastiera" setting, and change the "Seleziona lingua" to your preffered language.
- I've put a few wallpapers in /system/media that you can set full screen by going into Live Wallpapers and using the "Multipicture Live Wallpaper" set them to the screen.
- There are a few things (widgets) on the homescreen that don't work after initial boot, just remove them and add back whatever you want to the homescreen.
- Sleep of death issues seem to be fixed, and the camera works (Camera app works, but Skype and Fring don't work yet...).
- You can also grab Adobe Flash 11 from the market and it'll work correctly.
- This release boots MUCH faster, and is even more responsive than before.
- There is a cell standby issue that drains the battery more in theory so if you feel like that is happening with you just delete the Phone.apk and TelephonyProvider.apk from /system/app. You can use ADB or you can use Root Explorer to do so. You will likely have to force a reboot because you'll start getting repetitive force closes once you do so, but it won't hurt anything. Once you reboot, all is well.
VERY IMPORTANT: After installing custom roms that also flash a custom recovery your N8 may reboot into the custom recovery. If this happens hit reboot system and only reboot system.
Download new rom from HERE and extract (using winRAR preferably) to your desktop or anywhere you choose. Location doesn't really matter for this guide to work.
NOTE: If you have anything you care about (like apps, notes etc.) on your N8 make sure you back it up now.
Step 1: Turn your N8 off.
Step 2: Press both Volume buttons down and plug the USB cord into the N8.
NOTE: On your screen you should see a bubble pop up in the lower-right corner saying "Installing drivers". Most likely it will say it can't find the drivers. This is normal. Continue following the steps to install the missing drivers.
Step 3: Open the Device manager by typing mmc devmgmt.msc into your "Run" box on XP or search box in start menu on Windows 7 and hitting enter (you can also find Device Manager in your Control Panel options in Windows 7).
Step 4: With your N8 still in an off state and plugged in via USB you should see a yellow exclamation symbol somewhere next to "Unknown Device" in the list of devices in the Device Manager. Right click on it and select "Update driver software".
Step 5: Now it will prompt you to choose how you want to search for it. Select "Browse my computer for driver software" and it will bring up a window for you to navigate manually to the driver location which is in the "drivers" sub-folder in the NEXTBOOK8ROOT folder. Select which ever system you have (32bit or 64bit) and then hit "OK". You might go thru one or two prompts before it actually installs. Just "OK" everything and you should be fine.
Step 6: Once the drivers are installed you are ready to flash. Go into the root of the NEXTBOOK8ROOT folder and select RK29update.exe (right-click for Win7 users and Run as Admin).
Step 7: Now you should be at the interface of the program and at the bottom in bold words it should say "FOUND RKAndroid rock usb" (if it doesn't then it mean the drivers probably weren't installed correctly). This part is VERY IMPORTANT!! Make sure all of the boxes on the left are checked (should look like the pic below). The one at top is the one usually missing a check and would need to be checked by you.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 8: Once all boxes on the left are checked you are going to click on "EraseIDB" at the bottom and let it complete. Once that finishes click on "Run" and you will see a series of commands running in the right window pane (see pics below). Give it some time as it will probably take a few minutes. When it's done it should look like the second pic below.
Once the process is finished your NEXTBOOK should reboot into the recovery and reflash the OS. Congratulations!!! You now have an affordable rooted tablet with access to the Android Market!!
OTHER ROMS YOU CAN FLASH INSTEAD OF THE ONE IN THE ABOVE GUIDE:
Pisteone - [SDK 2.1] EXT4 Bluetooth 3G Root [Basic FW 1.0.21] ICS Style - LINK

Thanks! worked great.
I signed up, so i can say thank you. this worked perfectly.. i was skeptical and scared i'd ruin this tablet, as i got it as a gift, and was obviously disappointed to see no market on it, but this worked. thank you.
How about Nextbook Premium 7?
Thank you!
This worked great, I was able to get the android market installed and working.
Android version?
What version of Android does this install?
Cheers, Greg.
It's work, your are wonderful,thank you Sunnyboy167
Great job! Good to have root and Market working. But anyone else get FC when opening Camera app?
Perfect! I have rooted many Android devices and this is one of the easiest ones. Just read the directions carefully and you'll do fine.
Hopefully someone will release an ICS update for this device soon..after using my Galaxy Nexus, Gingerbread seems so...obsolete.
I'm glad you enjoyed this info just as much as i did
To everyone YOU ARE WELCOME but please....the best way to thank me is by hitting the thank button at the bottom right of my post. Thanks!
@xxProphecyxx - here is a link for the nextbook7 http://gunnersbarn.wordpress.com/2011/11/04/how-to-install-android-market-to-nextbook-premium-7/ I don't see any root method listed on the site but im sure there is one out there if you want to root it too. Or you can even take a chance if youre brave and use a one click root based on the android version you have.
@ghi07 - All this method does is re-install the OS (which is Gingerbread to answer your question) with market and superuser.
@dalerious - I'm sorry but I don't have a Nextbook anymore but if I did I would definitely try my best to help you. Try doing the entire process over and see if that works. Good luck!
THANK YOU!!!!
I was about to throw this tablet out the window!!! Followed the instructions and it works perfectly!!!! Thanks SO SO much!!!
Thanks to you I had a very Merry Christmas haha thank button has been pushed repeatedly!

[GUIDE]Yuntab P500 (M5000) Rooting Guide and ROM

NOTE: The rooting method may have the potential to BRICK the phone and will void your warranty, so do it at your own RISK. I am not responsible for any problems caused by this guide..
I recently bought a Yuntab P500 PDA Smartphone 5 inch Screen Android. Here are its main features:
CPU: Qualcomm MSM7227a 1.0GHz / Adreno 200 GPU.
Display: 5.0 inch Mulititouch screen, 800 x 480px.
OS: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Memory: 512MB RAM 8GB ROM.
Camera: Dual Cameras Back: 5MP, Front: 0.3MP.
Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, Bluetooth stereo (A2DP).
I am very pleased with the phone but still wanted to root it. However, I found it is very hard to root the phone because there is lacking of information of it on the Internet.
Its driver files are included on the phone internal rom with a folder called 'android4.0_usb_driver_32bit'. Once you connect the phone with USB Debugging enabled, you will see a new CD drive, double click it and copy the whole folder to your computer.
However, Its driver is not working on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop, so I had to try my XP one and it took a while to install all drivers. Then I followed this instruction to try Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry, I got the message to say the phone was rooted but it was not working at all.
Luckily, I found Karbonn A15 is similar to Yuntab P500, so followed ntstatic's instruction to have another try.
I followed the following steps to use Android Root Unlock, DON'T try anything else including A15 driver, it may BRICK your phone!
1. Enable USB Debugging - Under SETTINGS - DEVELOPER OPTIONS
2. Install the drivers for the phone - copy drivers from your phone internal card.
3. download "Android Root Unlock" from sourceforge.net and extract it to a folder on your harddisk
4. navigate to the above folder and run the batch file ICS_Root_Unlocker.bat
the batch file will reboot your phone a couple of times and will wait with a message "Press Any Key to continue"
IMP NOTE : if you pc is saying "PRESS ANY KEY" note if your phone is on or rebooting....
if it is Rebooting, wait for it to start before pressing a key
5. After a couple of boots the phone will be rooted
6. verify that the Root is complete by observing a "Superuser" shortcut in the application list
Thanks for that guide, now my phone has been rooted successfully.
I hope this will help people like me. Good luck.
I got the ROM from a Chinese guy. I haven't tried them yet, so flash them at your OWN RISK as well.

Good luck.
Does anybody know where to obtain the ROM of the phone? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for all the work you've put into this project. Unfortunately for me, I am unable to root my Yuntab aka Cobalt SP500. When running the batch file, I received the following: failed, failed, failed after every Press Any Key to Continue message. Now, I am using Windows 7 under the 64-bit architecture. Is this possibly the reason?

Yes, to root Yuntab P500, you will have to use XP 32-bit.
have a p500, has dated rom post published here, such as making backup?
thanks
have yuntab p500 usb otg?
thanks for this, sadly this method doesn't works from me.
searching I found a alternative, I tell about a site that posted a solution that I tested on my p500 and worked:
http://isytec.net/manual-video-root-yuntab-p500/
the bad thing is that the root program that it puts appears to be chinesse.... the right button is "OK" and from program can configure if allows or deny (all in chinesse) but works well

Thanks but this is the same rom as linked in post 1. It is Android 4.0.4 ICS.
Another question: How can I install the Google Playstore on the phone. Playstore app is not installed in stockrom. Thanks.
ROOT & Playstore
Hi,
I have to add that I bought the Yuntab P500 on AliExpress for 70 USD. This is definetly the best low budget smartphone I ever had. The build quality is not like a Samsung's but it's OK. It has a big 5 inch screen :good: with a small viewing angle . It runs not bad with the 1 GHz single-core-CPU and 512 MB RAM . It has 8 GB ROM and the fast WCDMA :good:. The battery seems to be very good :victory:. I think it is not easy to find a device which is similar good for this price.
But unfortunately the Android 4.0.4 ICS system is not rooted and does not have Google Playstore installed .
Solution:
======
1. ROOT:
On the phone storage or in the firmware downloads (see the links in this thread) you find the Windows drivers in the folder "android4.0_usb_driver_32bit". These drivers work excellent on my Windows 7 32bit computer. Connecting the P500 with drivers installed it gives me 3 entries in the device manager (Android phone + Qualcomm COM-port + Qualcomm modem):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
For rooting the P500 I tried the above mentioned "ICS Root Unlocker 1.0" and "RomasterSetup_3_2_8". But there was no success. But after that I was successfully rooting with "Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v31" from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
2. GOOGLE PLAYSTORE:
As the "GoogleServicesFramework.apk" is already installed on the P500, I only downloaded a "MarketUpdater.apk" and a "Vending.apk" from the web. I put my "RootExplorer.apk" and the "MarketUpdater.apk" + "Vending.apk" to the internal storage. After installing RootExplorer I copied "MarketUpdater.apk" + "Vending.apk" into system/app and gave the same attributes to them just like the other apps have. After that I installed the "Vending.apk" and rebootet the P500. Playstore is working fine now - there was not any app that I could not find.
Have fun with this nice phone !
Summary to the P500: I you can root and install the playstore or if you have somebody to do this for you, this phone is a great deal for 70 USD. Earlier I had a 4-inch-phone with a Spreadtrum SC6820 SOC without WCDMA and a faked Android 4 for 50 USD, which was a bad Android phone. After that I had an 4-inch MTK6572 device without WCDMA and only 256RAM/512ROM and Android 4.2 for 60 USD which was better but to weak with RAM and ROM. And now I have the P500 for 70 USD. Here everything sticks together very fine to be a good smartphone which is worth each cent. So if you want a cheap phone and you see the P500 for this price, don't hesitate to buy.

I recently got my YunTab P500, but the primary camera is not working. When starting any Camera-App I always get the commonly known "Can't connect to Camera"-Error. I think I tried nearly every solution one could imagine:
- do ota-update
- do bin update
- empty camera cache
- install alternate camera applications
- factory reset
- empty cache via factory recovery
- set permissions for the camera-app
- use JB-Camera and change cameras (though this worked: after restarting the camera app, I got the video-phone-camera)
So far nothing worked for me. I think the most simple solution would be, to send in the mobile and get my money back. Sadly the seller doesn't answer my support requests - I think he's gone.
I think asking here is my last chance to find someone to help me. Estimating this is no hardware-bug I think theres only one solution:
The installed kernel doesn't come with the proper instructions for the camera. This would be a proper explanation, if the Bin-Update doesn't come with the kernel image (which I dont know).
You, freegoat, mention not to use anything from a15/W719 roms. Did you try that or is it only a general suggestion? If you tried: What was the result? Because in the a15-Thread they've got boot.img (which as far as I know usually includes the kernel)...
Thank you for your help,
Boredland

[HOWTO][ROOT] POV Protab 3XXL: upgrading, rooting & saving battery guide

So I recently bought a Protab 3XXL from vendor Point of View, and I noticed there wasn't much information to find on the internet for this tablet. So I had to figure out by myself how to get things done, and as an android beginner, that wasn't very easy. That's why I wanna create this guide for all you people who bought the same tablet and want to do the following things with it:
1. Upgrade to new firmware release
2. Root the tablet so you can uninstall bloatware and install some advanced apps
3. Save battery, make the tablet go faster and smoother.
This guide will probably work on other RK3066 devices as well. I'm in no way responsible if you brick your device by not following every exact step!
1. Upgrade the tablet to new firmware release
When I initially bought the tablet, the firmware that was installed was buggy as hell, so the first thing I did was install the new updated firmware from the Point of View download site. This made my tablet go a bit faster and save a bit more battery life. The manual on the site though doesn't give a great explanation on how to install new firmware. Here's how to do it easily:
Beware: upgrading your tablet will result in loosing all your data! Make sure you took backups before continuing! Also, make sure you got over 50% of battery life so the tablet doesn't die in the middle of the upgrading process.
Go to http://ow.ly/lSuza and download the latest firmware release (get the one with the latest date in the filename, do not install v1.1 as wifi doesn't work on that one, don't know why) and extract it.
For upgrading your tablet to a new release, you need your tablet to boot into flash mode. This is done by switching off your tablet, wait a few seconds, press the VOLUME UP button and (while still pressing that button) connecting your tablet to your pc. Windows will tell you it failed to install the drivers as none were found, that's because you have to manually point windows where to find the drivers. To install the drivers, follow the steps written in the manual (page 2-6) found on the same site as the firmware update.
Open up rkbatchtool.exe which is in the extracted folder from step 1. If all went well, you should see a green rectangle which means your tablet is correctly connected in flash mode. If this rectangle is pink or no color at all, connect your tablet again holding the volume up button.
Once you got the green light on rkbatchtool.exe, you're good to go and you can follow the steps written in the manual!
I tested this procedure on Windows 7, but I guess it should be about the same on any other Windows version. Just use the appropriate drivers as described in the manual That should be about it, if you have any further questions, feel free to ask!
2. Rooting the tablet
Rooting the tablet is even easier than upgrading it! Here's how to do it:
Go to www.moborobo.com. Download and install moborobo as this app will automatically search for the right drivers (other ones than the ones used to upgrade the device) when you connnect your tablet to your pc.
Make sure you got USB debugging enabled on your tablet (settings -> developers options -> usb debugging)
Open up Moborobo, connect your tablet the normal way (so without pushing the volume button) and let moborobo do the rest. If Moborobo doesn't do anything when connecting the device, click on 'refresh devices'. Installing the drivers may take a long time so be patiently (it took about 15 minutes on my laptop).
When the correct drivers are installed, download the tool to root your device from here: http://ow.ly/lSZtT
Don't worry, it's malware free and safe
Extract the zip and fire up SuperOneClick.exe.
Click on 'root'. Everytime a dialog comes up, press 'yes' or 'ok' a few times untill it says your device is rooted.
Disconnect your tablet and check if superuser is installed, that's it
3. Some battery advice
All Android tablets last about a day and have to be plugged in by the evening, and the Protab is no exception for that! These are some tips to make your battery last longer (most tips are for rooted devices, so make sure you root your tablet first!)
Greenify is a great app to save some battery. Watch what it does and how to use it over here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW81YJME69U. This saved my battery a lot!Download it in the playstore!
Android tablets still have some leftovers from their sibling phones, and that's causing TONS of battery drain. To get rid of the phone functions and a better explanation head over to this guide (very easy to follow): http://ow.ly/lT0ZV
There are a bunch of better home screen launchers out there which are less battery-consuming than the stock android launcher (which the Protab has). My advice is Smart Launcher (or the pro version). This launcher is really smooth, fast and has a clean minimalistic look! Get it at the Playstore: http://ow.ly/lT1yX
Rom Toolbox by jrummy is a great app to execute some root tasks like uninstalling bloatware (software installed by Point of View like their useless keyboard). Head over to the Playstore to download it! Beware of what you're uninstalling, if you uninstall core android apps, it could mess up your system! If this happened, flash your device again as explained in the beginning of this thread.
I use my tablet a lot for reading pdf-files for school. As most pdf-readers have a white background, this drains a lot of battery (the lighter the colors on your screen, the more battery it drains). Moon Reader has an option to read pdf's in night mode (turns the background dark and the words white). This saves a lot of battery and is way easier to read! Head over to the playstore to download it.
As I already said in my previous tip: white colors drain a lot of battery. Therefore, use a dark wallpaper on your home screen!
Always use the lightest apps possible for a task. For example: Chrome browser for Android is a very heavy app which can be perfectly substituted by Boat Browser Mini (a lightweight browser that works blazingly fast). Try and google 'lightweight ........... for android' to see what the best alternatives for a heavy app are!
If someone has other tips for conserving some battery life, be sure to write it in the comments, I'll include it in this list!
If anyone has a better way of solving things or has anything to add to this guide, feel free to let me know

Searched everywhere, but couldn't find any specifically for this tablet. I found a site which stocks many custom roms for the same chip this tablet has (Rockchip RK3066), didn't test any though so I really don't know if they would work:

Hello,
my mother owns a ProTab 3 XXL. Since yesterday the tablet is not starting any more. I tried the reset button and several combinations with the front buttons.
i also checked the voltages:
- charger: 5,2V
- battery when charger disconnected: 4,3V
- battery when charger connected: 4,3V
is there something wrong? How can i fix the tablet?
thank you very much,

Hi,
I need backup/dump for protab 3 xxl, v1.1 (I think any v1.x will do). It has cwm installed already, but user did not backup official rom before changing roms, so now its bootlooping, and no way to flash anything on it. I think last resort is restoring official rom dump. Or maybe some other ROMs if someone can provide dump of it. If size is problem, PM me, I can provide way to upload big files. Thanks in advance!!

Thank you very much. Downloaded already but have trouble entering cwm. What is correct procedure to enter cwm? Releasing power button and pressing and holding volume up and down when point of view logo appears? I tried almost every combination of keys and no way to enter it. Could be cwm got deleted when I tried to install some rk3066 rom for archos tablet. I dont believe it, but that would be logical explanation as to why I cannot enter it.
Last hope will be trying maskrom mode, by shorting nand chip and hoping it shows up in rkflash tool.
I am not using button combo, coz I have app for reboot to recovery. I will try it.

[TOOL][WIN]Gstreamer emergency toolbox, for devices with broken lcd or digitizer ;)

Hi all, i passed trough the bad experience of a phone with a broken screen, all my data was trapped inside the device and i couldn't see nothing on the screen :crying:
So i decided to develop a little app, in order to be able to break into my phone again and save the more stuff i could.
Gstreamer (aka Ghost streamer) is able to let you see your device screen once again (that was the primary purpose...) and deal with it by clicking and swiping with your mousepointer on your phone screen picture (yes, it's slow but it gets the job done )but without the need to install softwares like VNC and similars (Gstreamer only allows you to gain access your files in a way or another and try to save it),.
If your dead phone was rooted and with a custom recovery, then yur life will be easy in case of broken screen , but if not , then the music changes a lot, that's why i thought my software could help other people to solve theproblems i meet during my data rescue attempts.
No matter the device screensize, it will adapt to your device screensize and will make your life easier if you broken your phone screen.
I'm still adding features to it, and planning to organize it in a better way, correcting some bugs, testing it on different phones and android versions,but it's actually working and improving day by day
if someone is interested in testing it with me, and report then the experience i'd be happy to cooperate.
at the moment this is the pre-alpha stage for me , but this is how it looks now

Hello,
tried you app, but it does not recognize my phone, because it has not debugging mode activated. I tried even "RSA ADB key inejection and..." but with no luck. For anther device, which has debugging mode active, I was able to get its data, but for the one with broken display and no debugging mode, it doesn't.
Any hints?
Regards,
can you provide some more informations about your device?
maybe you could try to repeat the procedure but in recovery mode
Hello,
Thanks for your time. So far you're the only one who gave me something as an information, or tip/hint.
My phone is an Samsung i9300i, with stock rom, only recently when trying to get the data through ADB, I have installed via ODIN an image named "CWM Recovery v6.0.3.6.tar", but still no effect in ADB.
Before replying to you I have tried recovery mode as well (power button, home, volume - and after 5 seconds volume up- as those were the steps required for my model to get into download mode). But I cannot get your up to recognize my phone. I tried with another one (HTC One M8s), with debugging mode on and the app recognize it in a flash. But with the broken one, no luck.
Are there necessary some custom drivers? Do you think some print screens could help?
a screenshot could help for sure
installing the proper adb drivers too, try with this --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50008343&postcount=486
also installing the official kies software by samsung may help
whas the phone rooted?
can it boot normally?
do you see something on the screen?
what is the damage on you phone?
android version?
Hello and good morning (for me it's still morning),
No, the phone was not rooted, was "untouched". I gave up the idea I can retrieve data via software and I was thinking to try to open it and have a display temporary put, but it's time consuming and I'm short on time to recover the data (some business information for my boss).
I'll try the drivers you have wrote and I'll came back with screen shots as well.
Regards,
sorry for the late post edit, but it came to my mind after i wrote
by the way... are you sure you booted into recovery mode?
my software shoud see the phone anyway when you hit the test conection button

LE: Yes, I'm booting in download/recovery mode (combination of pow+volume minus + home buttons and volume up after 5 -7 seconds - steps specific for Sam i9300i phones)

so you shoud see the phone connected maybe it will say: device-12345abcdefyourphoneID-(recovery) but if you have the drivers installed it should appear in the log window, moreover you said maybe you have a CWM recovery installed...
remember to reboot your pc ater the drivers setup

Indeed I have had installed CWM (if by that you are referring to "CWM Recovery v6.0.3.6.tar" file - which I did, using ODIN (v.307)), as I thought the debugging mode would be activated, but it seem it doesn't. Please can you give me more details about what did you want to say by " moreover you said maybe you have a CWM recovery installed..."? Is it a bad thing? Should I flash to a stock rom?
And no, it does not show any devices like device-1234afsadsasdasd.
Regards,
what i mean is, if you installed a custom recovery and you also have your phone drivers properly installed you should have an adbd server running on the phone(provided by the custom recovery environment) and an adb client running on the pc, so they should see each other

Ok, now I understand what is the purpose for that img.
So, bottom line is I cannot seem to install proper drivers. I'll try different combinations of uninstall plus install drivers from your link (i had used the ones from Samsung site, released this year), plus computer reboot, as so far I wasn't able to have ADB listener list my device (or your application).
Regards,
Root it! everything will be much more easy

I'll try, but, I'm not able to check what is my build number. As far as I know, I have only the stock image (exactly as the phone came with) and am sure it hasn't have the 4.4.4 version, but something like 4.3 something...I have a colleague, back at work which has some same device (Sam I9300i) and I could check the version on that terminal and try my luck.
Thanks again for your time and insight

Hello,
I've just finished all leads meaning I have successfully rooted the phone by using your link; I got PASS message in ODIN using the exact image as the tutorial indicated. But, still I cannot connect to the phone with ADB, or by using your app.
If I boot normally I can hear the sound, see the top buttons lid and have the popup message in windows which tells me I can browse the mobile phone's content (onStdBoot.jpg).
If I boot in recovery mode (can see COM0 used in ODIN and can flash successfully) I get the devices on the second print screen (BootInDownloadMode.jpg) but cannot access it.
Could you please advise if there is anything else I can try?
Regards,
if you successfully rooted your device, booting it in recovery mode should make it show in my software

Unbrick your Tab!
To unbrick your device all you simply have to do is go back to the CWM and restore your backup that you created earlier. If you don't have one, here is a copy of a working backup ---> Google Drive. Credits to @andrei_kr, say thanks!
How to fix touch!
If you unbricked your tablet and your touch isn't working, there is no need to worry. @andrei_kr has provided a guide on how to fix that touchscreen. Credits to him.
NOTE: If your touch is working then do not try this, it will mess up your touch!!
You probably got this touchscreen issue by flashing a different kernel with incorrect drivers.
Now your configuration is likely to differ from the native. You can view the konifig in command prompt or in the terminal :
Code:
cat /proc/gt9xx_config
(only mtk) or using the gtp_tools apk (it is in the attached file below).
It starts with the byte sequence: 0x41 0x1C 0x02 0xC0 0x03
0x41 - 65 version
0x1C 0x02 - 540 horizontal resolution
0xC0 0x03 - 960 vertical resolution
Touch must somehow work to press the button, if there is support otg, then it's easier, you can connect a mouse.
1. Install the gtp_tools_v2.6_20140126_special.apk
2. Go to the option Firmware update. Click refresh, see IC Version: 913_1020 then touch GT913 firmware and 1020.
3. Go to the option Config Settings, press read, the data were considered. Under Normal Config we have:
65 version
540 horizontal resolution
960 vertical resolution
4. Click browse, select click browse to the native config.
5. Native configuration take from your device, in the same paragraph, press the save (saves the backup config file). Native configuration for Fly IQ446 in the attached file. Press send.
6. If nothing has changed, look at the version you have and native config. Then change the version of the file in the native config in your hex.
Example: 0x41 = 65 home, a stranger 0x49 = 73 => replace the 0x41 to 0x49.

Thanks for report.
First want to say much thanks for this thread, it was getting frustrating trying to find a solution.
I have encountered a slight issue trying to unstuck 2 of these devices.
neither have been rooted and are stock devices.
i cant seem to get cwm to locate the backup that you supplied.
do i need to copy it to the cwm backup folder on my sd card?

Yes you do. Copy it to your sd card. Btw if your device is stock why do you want to restore this one?

Oh I thought they were working. Follow the procedure above to fix.
NuVision TM101A510L
Will this method work with the NuVison TM101A510L. It seems like a lot of work to do if I'm not sure about this model. Also I have a problem with this model overheating and crashing when I play Pixel Gun 3d and it's pissing me off. I just fired off a curse filled missive to NuVision support. They don't even list this model on their registration page and it seems they have no faith in this model. I will never buy this brand again, in fact I would recommend against it to my customers. I've used Azpen tablets with no problem rooting or playing Pixel Gun 3d. I took a chance and I'm so damned sorry I did.

Thank you so much for this thread!!! I have been looking for a recovery for a few months now and cant believe I didn't find this until now...
ok so a minor problem... I cant seem to flash the recovery... Not sure if ive placed the recovery file on my sd card properly or not cause i locate a few backup files none of which have any effect. I gave up in frustration untill now. ( Currrently working on a few androids one rooting one imea changing so figured id take a crack at these devices again. THe layer of dust on these things are getting a bit thick.)

I think the models numbers are specific so I can't say for certain that this will work with your tab. Try the fastboot/rooting procedure first and then maybe you can just restore the system partition only not corrupting the boot/kernel.

You are using the fastboot method correct? If the recovery script says finished as in no errors show on the screen then it could be the device itself. What do you see?

ill let you know just as soon as i can get back to working on those devices... im prety sure if memory serves correctly, that I was getting some errors regarding unable to mound sd or ext sd. I could be wrong but thats what comes to mind.
Im up to my neck in jobs on other devices. (rooting galaxy S5, changing imei on another S5, IMEI change on a LG Stylo 2 plus, Galaxy Tab 2 system issues need to diagnose, and several screen and lcd replacments)
STUCK
ok so i have a little time to work on these....
When i run the launch.bat and get to fastboot, it goes through the instalation and everything checks ok till the very end where it says failed cause too many links.
included the screenshot so you can see.
At this point im unsure if i just need to try flashing the supersu zip like it instructs but having tried befor it had no luck.
can I not just flash twrp on this thing then su like with most root methods?
after ive flashed super su, when i go to restor the working backup i see a list of backups... including yours but when i select it i always get :
checking md5 sums...
md5 mismatch!
what now?
(i tried just flashing the boot but even that comes back with same error)
I know on other devices the recovery is an img file any the one you provide is a rar... i extracted to my desktop and was gonna try flashing with abd/fastboot but since its not an img file, im thinking it wont work...
any thoughts?
Im still unsure how to flash the recovery that u supply in the section for fixing bootloop....

The too many links error is common for this device. Touch doesn't work with TWRP on this device so CWM is out only go. You can root and using cwm like any other root method.
