Well,, what do you mean by dead?
Has it passed out by itself?
Have you been doing something to it like flashing- rom? radio, or whatever?
Is it loading the battery (orange light) when you connect it?
Is it stock?, unlocked?,
The information you supply is inadequate

dead I mean, that does not turn on, you can not turn on the recovery mode or anything.
At the charger, nothing shines.
It is the factory, so probably S-ON
As I wrote, acted in the evening, in the morning already dead
When connected to a computer display QHSUSB_DLOAD This is the only sign of life

I'll not lie to you that i know what has happend.
There is a small chance that your usb port got stuck with dirt, there is no connection and the battery is just empty
Or the emmc chip is fried for some reason-and this is a bigger problem,,,
Anyway, if you are not familiar with servicing phones, not rooted, not unlocked or whatever
, and still have warranty
, you can either send it for servicing or wait for an answer from somebody wiser than i am

Hey.
Im reading u have a problem Polaris not booting up or worse not even working. Well i have the same problem and im also looking for a solution.
My device started to play tricks on me, like shutted down when not needed, freezing, and also when freezing i pressed reset button which did nothing but shut the device down completely (not even charging or booting up again). After many hours later it worked again but still had the same problem.
And well... now... now its totally dead, it stayed off for a day and not even charging nor booting.
Come on guys, some one must have had this problem before and maybe u can tell if its fixable or do i really have a f*cking brick on my table. , and also how can i avoid it if im getting myself another device?

Check if your battery is not dead(voltmeter i guess), also what ROM/radio did you tried to install, also did installation completed successfully?
Don't want to make assumptions, but i think it's terminally dead(mobo fried?)
Thanks for your advice...
I checked my battery with voltmeter, it shows ok..
I installed the Salvy.C.83_Megan_v1.4_WWE_Polaris_EzInput_2.1 ROM and it was successfully installed, but after 1 day it is fully not opening, not responding...
What should I do......
Please help..

Could be the nand failing have a look using mtty to see if you have any bad sectors.
Disable usb connections in wmdc or active sync.
Put the phone into bootloader screen.
open mtty Connect mtty to you usb port.
Type info 8 to check for bad sectors.

But my polaries is not powering on
So what I do....???
I have the same issue, my polaris if connected to usb doesn't light orange, can't go in bootloader anymore and mtty seems to not been able to issue any command to the device.
As you know, is there a way to flash an hard spl via mtty? Or another way to flash it on my "seems bricked" device?
As for info, i was using the same rom as you, but mine was working great!
And now seems dead... my invincible polaris...
Please, anyone help us?
Thanks!

Hello,
My friend's phone got stuck in a bootloop (HTC logo). I want to try and fix this by installing an official RUU. However, I get the warning that the battery is too low (below 30%). How can I charge it? I believe you cannot charge your phone while in fastboot mode and when I power of the phone and plug the wall charger in, the phone automatically powers on into the bootloop. How can I make shure that the phone is charging? I don't think it will charge enough in the bootloop...
The phone is not rooted and has S-On
thanks,
Amigo
If the phone is in warranty n If u say the phone is not rooted n is s-on take the phone to nearest HTC care centre.... They vll fix it up
If I hve helped you press the thanks button ...

I understand, but I first want to try it myself before the Phone is gone for three weeks

Not recommended to update to official ics, bugs that u can only fix by rooting your phone(void your warranty).
If it is still under warranty you might as well sent it back.
ps : Removing the battery can harm the phone's emmc chip = bricked phone.
a stand alone wall charger could do the trick. but...as suggested by the folks, might as well let htc do their job and fix it for you
In fastboot mode or Just in the bootloop?
Turn it off and charge it

Then it will automatically turn on into bootloop
Turn it off after you connect

Hello
I have a frined with Sensation XE (not rooted, S-On completely stock) ant it was acting weird lately. sometimes freezing, or rebooting and entering infinite loop. Removing battery and putting it back would help for sometime but then the problems started again.
Ultimately, the phone is completely dead. No orange LED whne charger connected, no bootloader, no tuting ON at all, and the screen is always off.
I am wondering if this is a harware problem and motherboard or smth else should be replaced? or can this be software fault and maybe it is possible to fix with unbrick project or smth?
please advice.
PS: the battery is totally fine - check it with my other Sensation phone and it works great...

I am in Japan and there is no official support for Sensation here (it sucks). I got my phone from ebay 5-6 months ago. Sending the phone to HongKong or smth like that would cost as much as buying a used one or maybe even more.
So i decided to go with self-repair way. If this is hardware - i will replace the motherboard myself or whatever is broken myself. I just need to find out where is the problem.
Pleashe help me with identifying it
You could try removing sd card and sim. A problem with these may cause such issues.
Aftwrwards, remove and reconnect the battery, make sure the battery contacts actually make contact, or put some folded piece of paper to hold the battery, if it does not.
Than let the phone rest in charge for some 15 minutes, and try turning it on.

Hello
Thank you for advise but I have tried all of that already. Removed sim and microsd, charged the phone several times even for 1 entire night.
I managed to connect the phone to PC and with a wire-trick it shows QHUSB_DLOAD does this mean the phone is not dead completely?

Hi,
Make sure to connect to PC via usb 2.0 slots only, and no hubs.
Also try different slots, front and back.
I do not know about linux, but do you have all the correct drivers?

I think I do not. Sorry for noob questions - but this si the first time I am dealing with brik - did nto even know I need drivers. WHat drivers do I need and where to get them?
And if you are speaking about usual HTC-sync and ADB drivers to run ADB and Fastboot commands - then yes I have them and they run just fine.
Hi guys,
I got a DS down, but finally, after research, I wonder if it is not simply bricked.
The guy who I recovered from told me after an exchange of large files via Bluetooth between the tablet and DS, this one was completely blocked until turn off.
Since then, it has never turned back. But now that I have connected it to the PC or charger, the indicator (orange) battery lights up.
This is a good sign? or nothing to do?
Thank you for your help.

pull the battery out n put back in then press and hold volume down then press and hold power button (so both same time) see what happens. Hopefully it will boot into bootloader
I can't boot in bootloader neither. The phone isn't recognized by my PC, only charging...
Other idea guy ? Or it's really dead ?
PS : Ok I have news. When I go out and return the battery while I press the three buttons (on / off, sound and sound + -), the DS vibrates 5 times, it is also connected to my PC, it now tells me that my battery is fully charged (green indicator).
I also have this message on the PC, which has sought a pilot. And he said finally, no driver has been found.
PS 2 : I follow this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1669498 for install this drivers... now i have Echec (= fail)
Nobody has an idea ?

Im not 100% sure but for the normal htc desire, when the phone vibrates 7 times, its means hardware failure and only shop can fix or get a new motherboard. So im guessing that the 5 vibrations for the desire s means the same thing. Sorry.
This is a known problem; google "qhsusb_dload". Unfortunately, I have never seen this with a Desire S before so I wouldn't know what to do...

Sorry for the weird title but I went on a road trip up the coast of australia and 5 days in my phone just turned off at about 30% battery and wouldn't charge, no charge icon or anything. Before this it had been turning off or freezing randomly. It was rooted with CM, I took it to this guy in a small town who did phone repairs, indian, and he knew a bit about rooting and stuff, he put the battery onto a volt meter (is that what it's called?) and said there's enough juice that it should be showing that it's charging on the screen or start so he reckons it's bricked. Then he said he doesn't have the tools for un bricking (I thought once a phone is bricked it's ****ed though? and also I thought bricking happens during flashing of roms or kernels and not just during use?)
The only theory I can think of is that I was using a 2.1amp car charger, what do you guys think?
Thanks

It depends on your definition of "brick".
If you mean it doesn't boot up after flashing something, that is simply a "non-boot" or "bootloop".
If it does not power up at all, charge, or get to the boot phase, then that is likely a "brick".
Does it show up at all when you plug it into a computer via USB? Does any new device show up in Device Manager? (e.g. Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008, QHSUSB_BULK) Also make sure your drivers are correctly installed.

yeah it doesn't power up, charge or get to the boot phase I just thought it's weird that it didn't happen while doing something like flashing a kernel, I was just using hangouts. And no it hasn't come up when I plug it into the computer.
Thanks for the info, I guess it's bricked :/ could you offer any explanation as to why? Does it just happen?

The most important queston was not answered. When you connect the phone to your PC do you see any new device appear in device manager? Like Qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 or LGE androidnet... under the Ports title or qhsusb_bulk under the other devices title. If you dont see any of those or any other device upon connecting then it is true brick.
The exact same thing happened to me last week!
at first it would show the blinking red light when charging but now not even, though it sometimes gets hot.
it does not show up on the device manager.

Well at this point it can be just a broken usb port on the phone or the whole motherboard is just a trash. You should see a new device appearing even wihtout having a battery.
