Poor Nexus S Sales Figures = Delayed N1 Gingerbread ?

Anyone seen any sales numbers on the Nexus S yet ?
If they were flying off the shelf I'd think we'd have seen some press on it by now.
I'm guessing the sales figures are underwhelming.
Maybe thats why the Nexus One is still lonely for Gingerbread ?

Not sure what the sales figures are, but until this past Sunday - it had not been advertised in the Best Buy flyer (here in Denver CO.). So maybe now, sales will pick up some - since they're finally starting to advertise it...?
P.S. Must not have done too bad in sales, wasn't it back-ordered last week?

Its advertised all over the internet... Google ads have nexus s all over them.

Really? I see a lot of hybrid and 0.x level ROMs based on AOSP code, but nothing official from Google.

Multiple Best Buy employees told me that when they checked the stock from local stores that all stores in and around Houston Texas were told out in 24 hours. I had to drive 2 hours across town to get the last one from a small town outside of Houston. People in Europe were saying similar things when the Nexus S was released on December 22nd.

It's hard to deduce real meaning from that kind of anecdotal evidence.
Yeah, stores sold out fast, and in the past we'd have said that meant that the sales exceeded expectations (a good thing), but now part of the marketing campaign on many products is false shortages to artificially create a sense of demand. They only release part of what they expect to actually sell into the retail chain the first week or two to keep the item interesting. Look at the Nexus One, EVO 4G, a couple of the iPhone models, the iPad, etc - all of them sold out the first day or two. Are the planners really that conservative/wrong in their sales forecasts, or are they just playing marketing games?
Until we see some actual numbers there's really no way to know how many of the devices were sold, and whether it's a disappointing number or not.

Most Best Buys in this area had like 4 or 5 of them.
Only one store was actually a T-Mobile dealer and they had 70.
So based on almost none in stock, its easy to see how they could
easily be sold out.
Honestly though, Google made a niche phone that the average phone
buyer wont buy.
Even many N1 owners arent buying it.
Is it maybe that the N1 owners expected a major upgrade from their current
phone, and thats certainly not the case at all.
I know I was underwhelmed by the NS and returned it after a week.
The MT4G is definitely a faster phone, and yes the 4G is in the area.

If nexus one ROM really is being purposely delayed, when it does finally come out it better be solid as a rock with all the extra testing time they get.

Hate to be devil's advocate, but really, Google is no longer obligated to update the Nexus One. Therefore, they'll get to it when they get to it.

I am a Nexus One user and I picked up the Nexus S from my local Best Buy about a week ago. It was interesting to me that there was no in-store signage or promotion. As I was waiting for the guy that was helping me to check to see if they had the phone back in stock - ("we were sold out" ) Two other people walked up and asked about the same phone.
I started chatting with them and neither one had previously used an Android device. Both had seen the phone advertised online and thought it looked like a cool phone. I finished up first and left with my phone but I think they both were buying the device as well.
The Best Buy employee I was dealing with said they weren't getting a lot of stock but they were quickly selling out of what they were getting in FWIW.

Best Buy in Northgate - Seattle had huge shelf full of Nexus S. After a few hours on Dec 16, half was gone. I know they eventually sold every single phone since a week later they were out. Had to drive up north to Alderwood to pick up a replacement and even there the stock was limited. So i am guessing the phone sold ok.

Best Buy Mobile in Woodfield mall had signs promoting the Nexus S, and when I went in for an exchange, they had a working demo unit kinda like how apple has their iPhones and iPads at their stores.

Nexus phones aren't really about sales they are about setting an example of what an android phone should be. How many phones had 1ghz processors before the Nexus One. Google forced manufacturers to stop making phones that had only weak processors. Manufacturers are only in it for the money and they don't care how bad they make android look, there are a lot of people who say android sucks because they used to own a backflip for example. I think the Nexus S is going to sell a lot more than the Nexus One because after 12 months I only knew of one other person who had one and I bought it for him (he paid me back). In the first week I have already seen or talked to people who know other people that have bought it. It will never sell a lot though not like the Evo or Mytouch, it is not all over TV or carrier approved, they would never let you get away with free tethering.

Yeah the small town where I got mine had a big sign above checkout counter and the Best Buy next to my house had a bigger sign, free pamphlets, and a demo unit.

I checked 2 smaller best buys in Wisconsin in smaller towns ~30-50k people and both stores had stock and didn't seem to run out.

didnt the G1 get updates for close to 2 full years until they retired it? yeah, i'm pretty sure the nexus one has plenty of life left in it lol...

Not saying they won't update it or shouldn't. Just that Google can take their time with it.

FT, the source was a very informative rep at Best Buy's computer sales department. She also gave me some other information concerning availability timing but it seemed a little unusual so I didn't mention it. The on-sale date was confirmed by associates at a couple different local stores.

I ordered one on the phone and the lady said it should be here by the 19th-24th. I'm leaving on the 27th, so I'm not complaining.

Ordered mine just now. 32GB in grey. Said it would be here sometime between 23 and 26 July. At least I got one on order and now can stop trying to keep up with it's status! My Nexus 7 will keep me well occupied until my Infinity gets here!

I had a BIG credit on my Best Buy card from where I returned my iPad 3 so I had to order from BB. Maybe mine will be shipped early since I used my BB card. Mine is also coming directly to my home.

I was planning on using my gift card, but I couldn't do it over the phone. The lady was really trying to rush through and get my order through for some reason. I almost said that I'd go down to the store to order if I could use my gift card but she completed the order quickly. I'll just save it and use it for the dock I suppose. Or if there's a Best Buy near my college, I'll just use it to pick up Halo 4 in November.

I got an email back on June 21 saying they upgraded the Silver membership return policy from 45 days to 60 days. I was able to order my Infinity and exchanged with 2 days left before the 60 days was up.

Ordering from Negri and expasys, you wont have a direct warranty with samsung (they're not authorized resellers of samsungs product). its only two more days and i just read that in europe it will be available the next day, so hopefully its the same for the EMERICA!

Best Buy has wi-fi models on hand
I walked into my local Best Buy looking to get a TF Prime Infinity until I saw at least 10 white and black Note 10.1 wi-fi sitting in their tablet cabinet. I asked and employee about it but after numerous scans in their system, it wouldn't come up with a price so they couldn't sell it to me. I even asked about preordering but they couldn't find it in the system either. They said to check back this Sunday. Lets just say the thought of running out store with it crossed my mind....

I was completely fine waiting until the 2nd. Then T-Mobile listed the estimated shipping date as the 24th. I got my hopes up despite my best effort not to, and now I'm checking my email/bank account/t-mobile site every five minutes for an update like a mad man.

Checked my preorder status twice today!!! ugh this sucks!! i just want it now! my bionic is killing me!

I'm right with the OP, I was ok waiting (kind of) until all the over-seas post of people receiving their Note III's.
I had the Sprint Note II up until 3 months ago when I switched to T-Mobile. I knew the Note III would be out within a few months so I could not see buying another Note II for a few months so I bought a Nexus 4 to hold me over. I miss the Note!!!
I think I'm going to try to stay off xda for the next few days...Yea right!!!

Super anxious here too! Got rid of the HTC One after being quite disappointed by the battery life. It went from fully charged to dead over the period of a football game the other weekend. Reverted back to the Galaxy Nexus that I've had for a while. Even after being rooted the Nexus has just degraded in performance and the power button only works when sternly pressed in the upper portion.
Ready for an upgrade out of necessity!

I frequent Spigen also. Lol! Dont worry, more stuff will be popping up within the next 2 weeks. I actually already pre-ordered from Amazon. For some strange reason you could pre-order there before you could on Spigens site.
Getting this one. Color matches the phone nicely.

yea I have been clicking around and figured out that's where everyone is pre-ordering the glas.t screens. and for anyone else reading this thread, they finally unlocked the "coming soon" on spigen site so you can order the neo hybrid and the slim armor cases straight from them.

Question Preorders

Anyone able to preorder? The preorder screen is blank for me..

S22 Ultra, 1TB, Phantom Black preordered during the presentation. Ordered on the website (Canada) from my phone while viewing the presentation on my laptop.

There's not trade in selection for a google pixel 6 pro... Waiting on chat to see what's up there.
Edit: What's a good place to sell it? I'd like to get close to what I paid for it.
Edit 2: Verizon will give me $1000 for trade in. Same as what I paid. I'd prefer an unlocked phone, but that may be the best deal I can get.

How many GBs is your pixel 6 pro?

I cant get it to take an order. One minute the trade in was there and then it was gone. And the $50 preregister offer didn't come up anywhere.

Mine went through, 1TB in red. So happy they finally added back the 1TB option and offered the larger storage amount in other colours besides black! Wasnt goigoingto buy one because i went fold 3 but once i saw that...had to pull the trigger lol

I ordered through Verizon, and holy sheet, what a nightmare!!! It took an hour in a chat to get the phone ordered, but now it won't let me check all the agreement boxes, so now I'm on the phone with verizon, and the online agreement isn't working either. Sitting on with an agent now. FFS

Took me a little while as well. I ordered about 2 hours ago. The site was already suffering.

FINALLY got my fixed. They had to cancel the original order, then order again. Blasted Samsung for not accepting the pixel 6 pro as a trade in! I'm sure I'll get mine a week after those that ordered from Samsung..

I was having the same problem with the site. I just chatted w/ sales via the widget on the bottom right and they got me squared away. You do need to switch to a proper plan if you aren't on one already though.

It's $1000 but there's something wrong with their system. Get on a chat, they fix it for you.

Probably, but I'd rather have it come out monthly on my VZW account. Plus I don't want a lot of the accessories anyhow.

I managed to pre-order before the presentation was over un the UK. There was a queue system on each checkout step lol I pre-ordered the S22 Ultra 512GB in Graphite. Trading in my wife's P40 Pro, and at least in the UK you get the Buds Pro as a gift for pre-ordering.

after 8 frickin hours of trying off and on, I was able to get one pre-ordered here in the States, green unlocked 512gb, wanted the red one but the green was my next choice and was able to get that ordered, so that`s what I got lol, I was curious so I tried a preorder again and there site is still having issues at 4 am in the states WTF samsung.

My wife was trying all day yesterday. she finally got a checkout button and she checked out and it removed the watch from her cart without letting her make changes and she lost her 250 samsung credit. She is so mad. she has benn trying to call them since midnight est time. I am not even sure she slept.

I placed an "upgrade programme" order last night ok ... website in uk seemed bugged and only allowed burgendy colour
But cancelled the order for now instead anyway -- waiting until we get some real performance metrics from the device ... "leaked" figured / testing have been all over the place so nothing trusted yet.
Need to see things like stress tests etc on Exynos before i commit again.
