Is there a ROM which underclocks GPU by more than or equal to 100mhz? I don't play high-end games only games that doesn't require much gpu power. Underclocking GPU would greatly help the phone's battery life when playing games.
I only see Overclocked GPUs in the ROMS. Can you guys help me? Thanks.
Im currently using Latest Viper Rom and Bricked Kernel. Thanks again.

it depends from the lernel you are using
go to system>etc>init.qcom.post_boot.sh
search for this line
echo (the value) > /sys/devices/platform/kgsl-3d0.0/kgsl//kgsl-3d0/max_gpuclk
just only change the value
if the line doesn't exist just insert it by using any file manager with simple text editor
If you're running a Bricked kernel try this free app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.pmw&hl=de"]https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.pmw&hl=de
I haven't tried it as I never used a Bricked kernel before but i guess it should do the trick for you
( sry can't post links yet cuz I'm a freshman here  )

Has anyone used any kernels for HTC Sensation 4g (TMO US) above 1.566Ghz?
I am currently using a ROM by Mike1986 and kernel witch took my phone to 1.566Ghz and i am loving it.
However, i am a big OC freak and i would like some pointers on any tested kernels above 1.566Ghz, preferably that work well with Mike1986's ROM as i find them to be most stable our of all i have tried (i have tried 3 different types).
Any input is highly appreciated and welcome. Thanks team.

I honestly don't see the benefits except lower battery life and a warmer device, I doubt you'll notice the speed difference past like 1GHz. All of the higher freqs seem pretty much the same and aren't really worth the bother with, use a governor that accesses higher freqs quicker and you won't be needing high freqs.

What governor would you suggest??? also, i know that when using you phone and maybe even playing games i wouldn't see much of a difference between the stock 1.2 Ghz vs 1.5 or 1.9Ghz but it's all about the bragging rights, lol. I like to go to my geeky friends and slappin’ a higher clock frequency than they have on their poor devices or silly I Phones. Also I have to tell you from my tests I do see Mike1986’s latest 3.6.7/4.1.7 Rom using much less battery life than stock Rom. I have noticed about a 10% improvement, maybe even more.
Also i do see a big improvement in Benchmarks. When i was using stock 1.2Ghz setting i was benchmarking much lower than the 1,5Ghz i am at now.
Thanks again for the input.
The benefit of custom ROMS and kernels, is that they are optimized to run well. Unless the chef sucks, most big name ROMS are optimized and more efficient.
I was running 1.2ghz for a while and whenever I'm playing Snes roms it would FC. After bumping it up to 1.72ghz it never did it again. Although 1.72ghz may be overkill for what I use my phone for but everything seems to be running extremely smooth.

I use conservative(810/192), super charger v6, ultra smooth rosie on 4.1.6. I haven't used benches, but they'll be low on this ROM since I'm assuming it's based on the Sense 3.5 leak for sensation.

hi, I'm running android revolution, the rom works fine...during the flash 4ext ask me what kernel I want, if stock or 1.5ghz...
what do you think about? battery? cpu damage?
all softwares run very well, I don't think is necessary to set cpu at 1.5....but have more power is better XD
suggestions? can I use any software to set the cpu clock?
I'm using vi4.0 at 1.512ghz. I'm actually impressed with the 13-15 hours of text/call/video/music mid to high usage.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
but is better? more...reactive, speed?
I think 1.2Ghz is sufficient for a Sensation !
All games don't lag on 1.2Ghz..
I am also using ARHD 6.3 and overclocked to 1.83ghz. I did not notice a difference in battery life. But my phone is noticeably very fast! I am using "setcpu" apk.

You will notice a difference in speed and responsiveness! You can always try and if you don't think that it is worth the slightly reduced battery life you can always revert to stock! ( i'm running IC 5.11 on 1.5 GHz and i get 1.5 day with moderate to heavy usage ). Don't worry it is safe as the CPU of the sensation is meant to run at 1.5 GHz ( like the sensation XE )!
ok, I did it, works fine, very very responsive....that's good!....
but!....I want smartassv2!....smartass at least!...
here there are only default governors!
are there kernels compatible with android revolution?
and is not clear, setcpu works with dual core CPUs?

The source code for the 3.0 kernel isn't released yet, so all that can be done are hex edits. Because of this, only the default governors are availible.

SetCPU is compatible with dual core CPUs, however it turns core 2 permanently on. You can use System Tuner if you don't want this.

I am currently on Sebastian's kernel clocked at 1612MHz and everything is just fine.. feel free to flash
I use his 1.78GHz kernel and its very fast, stable, and also has decent battery life.

at present its not that stable to prevent corrupting nand, its ok for general usage but for intensive activities for sure you`ll end up with some problems......the kernels that have oc ability are also default set to 600mhz (stock speed) so installing them will not do any damage anyway............the choice is yours

So , can i only flash the gpu OC to play intensive games with better fps?
Pardon me if i have brought up silly or crazy question but I have to ask it
I have a sensation and have been using vipers rom from very beginning with cpu to 1.5Ghz and 3d/2d slightly overclocked. and there is heating issue at area around Sim/sdcard slot and front screen part while surfing web or playing games(basically while using resource hogging apps) That's where cpu is located i believe. [also the phone starts lagging when it heats TOO MUCH]
Then past month i clocked every thing back to sensation's default. it helped to cool the temp lil'bit.
Then few days ago I switched to Sultan kernel which dramatically makes my phone lot cooler than it used to.(but still heats up) I overclocked to 1.5Ghz and is still cool. Undervolted to -50 worked fine. Then i started to tweak 3d/2d gpu overclock/underclock and it heats up like before. So, here i think proper tweaking the cpu,gpu can generate less heat on the phone but I have tried many things as i mentioned above and i am not sure what exactly is making the phone hot or cool down or what to do about overclocking/underclocking/undervolting, etc, etc, etc
So here I am asking other user for their guide for proper tweaking the phone to its best performance without heating it up. Any suggestion??:silly: what cpu freq?? 2d gpu freq?? 3d freq?? undervolting?? leaving stock??
I dont mind clocking the cpu to 1.2ghz or 1.5 ghz.. the processor on sensation can handle upto 1.8 or so just fine. But all i want it to generate less heating, more performance and definitely more battery life.. so any suggestion?:fingers-crossed:
This info can help other noob out there (specially me) to tweak their phone without worrying what to do and what freq to use....Cheers
For more info i use anker battery.. and as far as i know battery is not the cause for heating on sensation.
Bricked is the best kernel for the heating problem. Don't oc the cpu and gpu and you should be fine. The only problem is that bricked is a bit laggy
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using Tapatalk 2
overclock gpu produce much heating (my experience) and that also bring not much more performance. Overclock cpu produce of course some heat too, but not that much. Also undervolting the cpu reduce the heating.
I think the coldest one are, which are more close to stock.
Hi,
Overclocking whether CPU or GPU will definitely cause heat, you cannot have both performance and coolness besides each other ever; in case you want performance, then you have got to tolerate high temperatures and further, a bit lag. But if this heating thing bothers you too much, then you have to stay with a lower CPU/GPU frequency. In this case, if you still do not want to lose your performance TO AN EXTEND, then I recommend flashing an AOSP/KANG ROM instead of Sense based ones.
Good luck :good:

Unfortunately bricked didn't worked out for me, also was a bit laggy like u mentioned.
I have set the cpu to 1.2Ghz and both 2d/3d underclocked with -50UV.. As of now working like charm.:good: But I wanna know, Does underclocking Gpu has any effect on performance??

In case you've flashed Sultan Kernel in which Ville C2's GPU drivers are included, then IN MY OPINION there would be no problem at all.
I'll provide the link to it if you couldn't find the correct one.

don't worry for the heat my phone goes up to 80°C and is still working fine. no problem at all. so remember to not use 1800 mhz use max 1620mhz and max 320 gpu 3d. will wil get good perf. always use PYD-X or SB FM (ICS) or (JB)

Underclock your 2D GPU to 145MHz on my kernel. Underclocking the GPU can make transition animations and games laggier HOWEVER unclocking the 2D GPU instead of the 3D GPU will do no harm and the difference is barely noticeable. Your homescreen will also be just as smooth as before because Rosie is rendered by the 3D GPU, not the 2D GPU. If underclocking your 2D GPU to 145MHz doesn't make your phone as cool as you want it to be then you can also lower the speed of your 3D GPU. If your phone is still getting hot after unclocking your GPU then use a more energy efficient CPU governor like Badass or Intellidemand. Also, in my kernel's Aroma installer, enable mpdecision. The mpdecision in my newest beta for Sense ICS ROMs (r18b3) works best, so install r18b3 and see how you like it. You can download r18b3 from here: http://goo.im/devs/sultanxda/Pyramid_Sense_BETA/Sultan-kernel-r18b3-Sense-Aroma.zip

Be careful with battery life on r18b3 though; people have reported that the phone doesn't go into deepsleep with Intellidemand so your battery may drain.

EDIT: nope all governors are consuming abt 50% of processor power while in screen off or deepsleep/ideal mode.

Set the Cpu governor to Performance and ask for good values to adjust the Gpu.
Best to use a Custom kernel like Insigniux or Agni.
Make profiles with Kernel aduitor for Performance and stock values
You won't see big differences but some extra fps should be possible.
Even with OC or something there won't be so much more power wich really could be of use (just much higher battery drain)
Hope that helps a bit. :fingers-crossed:
