Guys i just flashed a new rom (Mini CM9) and the dev has given some links for OC kernal for CPU and GPU , my question is that , is it safe to OC both gpu and Cpu at the same time? i really want to do a lot of gaming but im afraid that i will end up burning my device! PLZ REPLY!!!

at present its not that stable to prevent corrupting nand, its ok for general usage but for intensive activities for sure you`ll end up with some problems......the kernels that have oc ability are also default set to 600mhz (stock speed) so installing them will not do any damage anyway............the choice is yours

Hey guys i am new here and got a small question,
In the last 3 days i switched to several roms and kernels, dunno how much i tested but i got stuck with the Bricked kernel so far, i am using a HTC Sensation classic with the Pyramid3D Rom and Bricked 1.5 Kernel atm, switched from Bulletproofed to InsertCoin and from InsertCoin to ARHD with their respective kernels, but every ROM i installed gave me lags, in the Launcher and in Games, mostly Emulators.
So now im on Bricked kernel and can play almost every emulator or 3D Games w/o any Performance hit, my cpu speed is regulated by Daemon Controller @ 1536Mhz
and with the other @ 1521 Mhz,
How does it come that every rom gave me lags on Emulators except Bricked?
Oh and one other thing is that on most kernles my phone would not wake up on camera standby, but bricked kernel does.
What is the exact reason for all this? Im yet a noob in this case, i come from the iOs scene now im an android user, maybe somone can enlighten me
Your kernel controls the speed at which the CPU runs. So the CPU in the sensation may be capable of running safely at 1.8 Ghz, the manufacturer kernel sets the CPU to around 1.2 Ghz I believe, so a kernel without underclock/overclock capabilities will automatically run your cpu at the manufacturer setting. Some kernels (not all) give you the ability to change your CPU speed using a tool such as SetCPU where you control the speed at which your CPU runs.
Does this mean that Daemon Controller does not OC my CPU but only unlock the capability to do so at higher rates?

No, im pretty sure the Daemon Controller is like setCPU. It could have been set to overclock after install BUT you should also have the ability to manually change the CPU speed. Im not sure, I haven't used Daemon, but I think it is done through terminal emulator.

another question: i'm using the matr1x kernel (17.5) and in the menu i have an option to overclock the gpu but there're options to get it to 1000Mhz? really?
Which are the riscs?

stock nexus s gpu is at clocked at 200mhz. you CAN NOT overclock it 500% to 1000ghz. thats just silly. thats like overclocking your cpu to 5ghz. the highest ive overclocked my gpu or ran a kernel that already has it overclocked is 250mhz. thats a 25% oc

That's the CPU clock you're looking at. LiveOC can overclock the GPU as a percentage value (ie, 110% is 200 * 110% = 220mhz), but it does the same to the CPU (so 1000mhz turns into 1100mhz). This will generally need adjusting the voltages upward.
So no need for any app to oc, just increase the LiveOc % ?
ya, that question about overclocking the gpu to higher then 300mhz was really silly, but asked t anyway
GPU Clock is stock at 200mhz, CPU is at 1000mhz. Increase LiveOC % and you'll go up by that percentage. Just remember, as i said, you will most likely need to adjust voltages to prevent instability and reboots. It's best just to set all of this up using NSTools.

Not all phones can handle such an OC (either because of GPU or CPU, or combination, it all varies). Hopefully you can get a stable setup, the extra GPU OC is a great performance booster.

And what a performance booster... I never bothered to try the LiveOC... I just OCed the CPU and thought that was the most I can do. But with 110% LiveOC and 1300MHz CPU OC, my phone is now eve faster than before.
Hi again people, wanna talk about the faux123 004 b6 kernel with u, first off the kernel is amazing when it comes to gaming and stability:good:
now people are having problems with the interactive governore as it dosent use all 4 cores properly -1 (No big Deal) cause (hamdir) talked about how u can modify the OnDemand governor and make it alot better. And he is knowing what he is talkin about!!! So big love to U 2!
so i wanna share the settings im using with my kernel.
First System Tuner
upthresehold 60- 50 is to mutch I think
downthreshold: 10
i set Auto kill : Aggressive
UC CPU : 1.4Ghz- so it wont force stay on one core at 1.5Ghz (when ur running quad mode all are hitting 1.4Ghz
Now UV : first 5 : -225mvh and all others -150mvh and it works fine 4 me (Remember al chips are made in a different way so if it dosen work for u try a bit lower. if it wont work it will just reboot to the old values!
The UV does not affect the GPU like some say it does (ULP GPU are using low power it dosent need as much juice as other GPU´s and if my CPU all 4 can hit 1.4Ghz then it cant be a problem with the 520mhz GPU!
So if ur phone lags during gaming or just in general there is something wrong with the ROM or u have installed it wrong
I always make sure i have no data cashe or any thing left when installing a rom dont even restore old apps or data cuz that can be the problem so see u soon with some talkin abou the ViperX 1.0.1 ROM!
Wrong section, unneeded thread. Is this an S3 kernel? You know that if you set down threshold to10, CPU stays on high frequencies very long? I've got an S1, and most of the games run smooth, so if you guys from S3 get speed problems, there must be something wrong .

Is there a ROM which underclocks GPU by more than or equal to 100mhz? I don't play high-end games only games that doesn't require much gpu power. Underclocking GPU would greatly help the phone's battery life when playing games.
I only see Overclocked GPUs in the ROMS. Can you guys help me? Thanks.

it depends from the lernel you are using
go to system>etc>init.qcom.post_boot.sh
search for this line
echo (the value) > /sys/devices/platform/kgsl-3d0.0/kgsl//kgsl-3d0/max_gpuclk
just only change the value
if the line doesn't exist just insert it by using any file manager with simple text editor
