I'm sure many of you are firmilar with evild's work on the n1, mt4g and other highend devices. I happened to flash his 3.0 rom on my wifes mt4g sand got to chatting with him. Hes interested in getting a g2x, so I told him id attempt to orchestrate a collection of funds to buy him a g2x. First things first, what will a no contract g2x cost? What is the cheapest anyone has seen one for sale off contract? Secondly, if anyone has an upgrade they are willing to donate, THAT WOULD BE PHENOMENAL! I'm good for $100 to start things off. If you find one off contract for cheap, please post links! Moderators, please feel free to get involved.

That is why I hate xda bunch of free loading crack flashers that don't help the Dev. community just piss people off and whine for help when they get in trouble....... count me in for 20 bucks

Very good question... I can only assume so, since alot of his work is done with sense ui. I sent him a pm with the link to this thread, so as he reads through it, I'm sure he'll clarify on that.

Yea, I guess I didn't miss it all that much because I went straight from the n1 to the mt4g. So I almost immediately had evil support again lol.

have you been on the internet long? people are people. and you'll find people like that on any forum. i've seen people talking like that online since before the internet was mainstream. it's not only xda. there is no way to stop it. so just get used to it. but, i got your back on voicing your opinion as well. what xda needs is a dislike button. i've seen them on other sites. and after so many dislikes,your post gets hidden and members have to click "show" to see it.

People like you thinking it's ok to use these Roms for free without donating a dime is a FAIL!
These Devs work hard and long hrs. to make these roms for your phone to function and look better!
So a little donation wouldn't hurt for you to give!
Or better yet if you don't, don't bother commenting on it!
Don't look at it as paying for there phone, but rather an advance for work they are going to do for you!

Your idea is ingenious. I will take it up with a friend whose a mod here and see what he thinks. Not sure it will get too far but you never know.
That is a very good idea. Giving thumbs down to certain posters would warn other readers at this forum. It would also be useful against scammers who steal the Dev's work and pawn the mods as their own begging for donations. There was one on the Samsung Epic forum last year and on the Asus Transformer forum a few weeks ago.

I've been on the internet for awhile... a lot of forums and yes I know there are always negative people... I can be one of them... at times... but I hate how broad the ignorance on this site is..

this doesnt belong in development. and A) did you send the guy money? if yes you did it with no contract or obligation. if you have regrets there is nothing anyone can really do to help that. and B) dont pester the devs, the guy was highly requested. people were just throwing money at him, it's been a couple days since he actual recieved the phone in his hands and now you want to take that money back?

The last sentence of your original post was rude since he just purchased the device. We all appreciate your donation to help but do not expect a ROM from him in 1-2 days. It is a donation without commitment on time from him. Based on Mike's work on other ROM's from the Captivate, I expect we will see great things from him on the Infuse in the near future. Your approach could have been better and posted in the correct forum.

Maybe you know him personally, but I didn't know he just bought a phone. Last I heard in the general thread, which was like 2 weeks ago, he was too busy and didn't have time to buy a phone....

Yes, he announced in another thread that he got it on Monday. I do not have the link but he has it. I apologize about my remarks since you did not know however, you can be a little more polite in your initial post asking if he even has it by eliminating your last sentence in your original post and posting to General forum since this is not actual development.
Maybe try sending him a PM instead next time especially since you donated. Again, we all appreciate your donation to make this possible. Just have a little patience and I am sure we will have a great new ROM soon.

I dropped (and broke) the display on my Euro sgs2. I am going to order a replacement panel, but not sure how to get a genuine samsung replacement. Cannot find anything online. Got any advice?

Well, the SGS2 is supports LTE, at least the AT&T version will, and they are launching LTE this sunday(18th) and they said the SGS2 would come in the third quarter, which ends at the end of this month.
They always release big phones on Sunday, so that means we will get it on the 18th or the 25th.

I'll just have to wait and see if their LTE coverage will extend into my area. I'm usually on the fringe of the major carriers' big rollouts. I am also holding out hope that we'll see a Galaxy Note here in the US.
Hello everyone, I'm Indirect and while most of you have no idea who I am, I was politely asked to come help you all out for development towards downgrade / s-off on your devices. Now, as much as I would LOVE to help, I can only do so much without the actual device. I know this sounds like mooching, annoying, etc that some other "developers" do to try and gain attention but I'm sure you can see that I've made progress in just a few short hours as you can see here So I would like to now ask the community I'm trying to help if they would be willing to help me out as well and have my job be just a bit easier. I own multiple devices that I work on (Evo View 4G tablet, Nook Tablet, Nexus S 4G) and I develop for the evo shift when I can get around to it, but since I am not 18 and unemployed, I can't really go out and just throw down cash for a mytouch. Developing is essentially my career, balance that with school and my life gets hectic. So, if you read on, you will see how much I'm working towards.

I know some stuff about the kernel, but not atm enough to get a custom kernel up and running. Also guys, I seriously only have 1$ to my name, pretty sure it won't be enough. Lol.
This would be fantastic - I was working with this character last night in IRC and he's got the enthusiasm necessary backed up by the knowledge we need to get in our corner of XDA.
People are complaining from time to time about the anemic development here in the MT4GS forums, well, here is a way of increasing that dev.
If people aren't interested or able in picking up the torch themselves to get involved in development, then helping someone like this get a device in their hands will help us all out.
Normally i'm not such a fan of this but this is the real deal - we get a device in his hands and we WILL see more dev around here.
Look at the progress he's already helped us make towards the S-OFF issue - we got past getting the misc.version put in place and unraveled another layer of the issue, now we are stuck on hboot being our block.
Not bad for someone without a physical device in their hands, eh? Imagine what he could help us with not having to work proxy through one of us...

I am a HTC One S user from India CID - HTC__038. the biggest challenge for all of us is the problem of not having the RUU in order to feel the freedom of using the custom ROM we want. (OK not a lot of options out there!) but I feel it really cripples us a lot not having one. I have been in touch with Football and he say he can get the RUU but at a price.
This is the one he says can get - VILLEC2_U_ICS_40_S_hTC Asia India_2.15.720.150_Radio_16.22.20.03U_16.11.20.24_ M_release
The source is asking for 13 Euros + Paypal charges ~ 15 Euros I guess. Thats roughly a 1000 in INR.
If all of us can get together and pitch in, the cost will be peanuts (atleast compared to what we have paid for this phone). I guess none of us who managed to buy this phone are incapable of coming up with the full amount of the RUU, let alone a fraction of it.
So what say guys. Can we try and get this done. I need approvals and suggestions.

Fatpanda I have a s4 version but I can help you guys for sure , I have PayPal but its currently under verification as I added my new debit card ! One of my classmate and a friend has a s3 version so if needed by chance the ruu could help him

Em I know I give you this idea but maybe wait a bit for a JB one when it comes which also gives you time to sort the money out.
JB update may take ages!

Thanx everyone for the support. But I had contacted HTC a while back and they said the JB will take some time to come out. 1st they need to sort out the bugs in the HOX JB release and then send out the S3 release or some BS like that. In short the lady on the line said do not expect a likely update atleast till next summer if not later. I mean India got the FOTA for 4.0.4 in November, a good 6 or so months after the S4 release worldwide. No point waiting for the JB just now. Also by the time JB is out and a custom ROM is released it will take a year at the least.
Anyways, this is just my 2 cents. Lets c whats the collective response.
